Gartner: Top 10 cloud storage providers #top #cloud #computing #providers

Gartner: Top 10 cloud storage providers

According to a Gartner survey. about 19% of organizations are using the cloud for production computing, while 20% are using public cloud storage services.

That means there’s a pretty good sized market for the cloud, and specifically cloud storage. Gartner predicted in 2012 $109 billion was spent on cloud computing. a 20% increase from the year before.

But the cloud is a big industry too, with a lot of vendors seemingly having a cloud strategy today. So where do potential customers start? Recently, Gartner released a list of the top 10 cloud storage providers, based on enterprise capabilities. Below is a description of each, based on pros, cons, strengths and weaknesses.

Amazon Web Services

Like many other aspects of cloud computing, Amazon Web Services is considered a market leader in cloud storage. It’s been an early and aggressive player in the market and its services drive offerings from competitors, Gartner says, while its pricing is the “industry reference point.” Its Simple Storage Service (S3) is the basic object storage, while Elastic Block Storage is for storage volumes. AWS keeps innovating too. Earlier this year AWS announced Glacier, a long-term, low-cost archival storage services. More recently, at its first-ever user conference, AWS announced Redshift, a cloud-based data warehousing service.

AWS has challenges though, Gartner notes. While it has a tool to link on-premise data to its cloud, named AWS Storage Gateway, the ability to create hybrid storage architectures that span both on-premise storage options and AWS’s cloud is still largely a work in progress, Gartner says. AWS is an innovative company that continues to release products and services to round out its already-market leading position though. With services geared to specific vertical industries, most notably the federal government agencies with its GovCloud service, it has a wide breadth and depth of cloud storage features and services.

AT T’s Synaptic cloud storage service is aligned closely with EMC’s Atmos storage service, which is used as an on-premise storage system. This creates an opportunity for AT T to sell into the strong EMC customer base, and gives customers hybrid cloud capabilities with a leading storage vendor. Gartner says this has been focused mostly on small and midsized businesses though. Still, AT T claims it has recorded double-digit growth in its service, with several billion objects stored in its cloud. AT T Synaptic already spans multiple regions, which customers can choose to take advantage of, with plans by AT T to expand the service globally, with Europe being the next stop. Customers using AT T’s VPN service are freed from ingress and egress charges when using the company’s cloud service.

Google Cloud Storage

Launched in 2010, Google Cloud Storage is the underlying storage service for the company’s other cloud products and services, including Google App Engine – the application development platform – Google Compute Engine, and BigQuery, which are cloud-based virtual machines and a big data analysis tool, respectively. Customers access Google Cloud Storage through a restful API and the service is available in both the U.S. and Europe. Holding the company and its cloud storage platform back though is a relative lack of significant sales and support targeted at enterprise customers, Gartner notes. That leaves Google Cloud Storage ideally suited for sophisticated customers willing to set up and manage the deployment, and specifically developers looking for large storage capacity for Google applications.

HP announced the public beta of its cloud storage platform debuted in May of 2012 and it’s meant to work in tandem with both its compute and content delivery network (CDN), which it recently partnered with Akamai on. The storage platform is based on OpenStack technology and HP offers free 24/7 call and chat support on top of 99.95% availability guarantees. “Among OpenStack-based cloud storage providers, HP is well-positioned to understand enterprise IT storage requirements, due to its extensive hardware, software and service offerings,” Gartner notes. “However, since HP Cloud Object Storage is new, HP must evolve and refine its architectural, geographical and service offerings.” The system automatically replicates data across three availability zones for resiliency (which customers can choose to do in Amazon’s cloud), and HP says having information running on its hardware both in the public cloud and on customers’ premises makes for easy hybrid cloud setups.

IBM’s cloud storage is part of its SmartCloud Enterprise offering, which includes other services such as cloud-based application development and infrastructure. Gartner says the biggest deficiency is the lack of integration among the various aspects of IBM’s SmartCloud offering though. For example, IBM markets its cloud for backup and recovery, but those services do not use IBM SmartCloud Object Storage on its backend. Part of this could be because IBM partners with Nirvanix, another cloud storage provider, to run the SamrtCloud Object Storage. The disparate nature of these services under the IBM SmartCloud umbrella could create “silos of capabilities” for various services, Gartner warns. But, IBM has committed to more tightly integrating its products and services together. Its experience in selling to major IT enterprise shops gives it a significant advantage in becoming a major player in the large enterprise cloud storage market.

Internap’s history is as a managed service and collocation provider, but it has more recently emerged as a cloud player as well. Its AgileFiles cloud storage system is based off of the OpenStack Swift storage platform and is available in the U.S. Europe and Asia, with plans for future expansion. To differentiate its service, Internap has attempted to layer on advanced networking features to the service, such as a Manager Internet Route Optimizer (MIRO), which analyzes the performance of the possible routes to deliver content and chooses the best one. Gartner says its lack of enterprise presence is the biggest limitation holding the company back.

Behind Amazon Web Services, Microsoft’s Windows Azure Blob Storage may be the second most widely-used cloud storage service, Gartner predicts. It now boasts more than a trillion objects and is growing at 200% per year, Gartner says, while supporting a broad range of features including object storage, table storage, SQL Server and a content delivery network (CDN). Azure’s Blob storage is in a pricing “race to the bottom,” with Amazon, Google and Microsoft each dropping prices consistently during the past year to offer the most competitive prices among the three competitors. Gartner calls Microsoft a “fast-follower” of feature roll outs behind Amazon as well. Its tiered support options are appealing to large enterprise customers, Gartner says, providing customers a hands-on fee-based support team. Microsoft has bulked up its storage chops too by recently purchasing cloud storage gateway vendor StorSimple.

A pure-play cloud storage provider, Nirvanix is solely dedicated to this market. Gartner says that’s great for companies looking for data-intensive storage needs, but could be a drawback for customers looking for an all-inclusive vendor that would provide compute services on top of a storage platform. Nirvanix has some appealing characteristics though, including the ability to have public, hybrid or on-premise Nirvanix-powered storage services, and an all-inclusive monthly billing cycle with premium support options, a clear aim for enterprise customers, but one that may turn away small and midsized businesses that may prefer the a la carte pricing.

Rackspace is another major player in the cloud storage ecosystem, with its Cloud Files service augmented by a robust set of accompanying services, including compute infrastructure and a CDN network powered by Akamai. For high-performance storage needs, it has Cloud Block Storage, which has high input-output capabilities. Rackspace works heavily on the OpenStack open source project and its services closely follow OpenStack developments. Because of its work in the OpenStack environment, Gartner says Rackspace public cloud storage services integrate nicely with OpenStack-powered on premise clouds, creating hybrid cloud services for customers.

Softlayer’s Cloudlayer object storage system is based on the OpenStack Swift platform that accompanies a range of other services offered by Softlayer, including compute and CDN. Softlayer also has a storage-area network (SAN) offering and an international presence, with data center locations in its headquarters of Dallas, along with Amsterdam and Singapore. Its lack of support and turnkey deployment cycles, Gartner says, has meant that the product has not caught on wildly with the enterprise market yet though.

SQL Server 2005: How To Restore a Database from a Backup

SQL Server 2005: How To Restore a Database from a Backup

Posted February 7, 2007 by Rob Rogers in Database

Your database is down, your users are in a panic, what do you do. If you have been performing routine backups of your database, you can restore it to the point of the most recent backup. To restore your database, follow these steps:

1. Open SQL Server 2005 Management Studio.

2. Connect to the appropriate server.

4. Right-click the desired database, mouseover Tasks. mouseover Restore and select Database .

5. The Restore Database window will appear.

6. Ensure that the correct database name appears in the To database field. If not, select it from the dropdown.

7. Under Source for restore. select the From device radio button.

8. Click the button next to the textbox to select the device to restore from.

9. The Specify Backup window will appear.

10. Click Add and locate and select the backup file from the Locate Backup File Window. Click OK.

11. Under Select the backup sets to restore. select all three backups (full, transaction log, and differential).

12. In the left pane, select Options .

13. Under Recovery state. ensure that the Restore with Recovery radio button is selected.

14. Click OK to begin restoring the database.

15. Once the restore is complete, a notification box will appear. Click OK to close the box. You have now restored your database to the most recent state.

I taken backup of database from Sql server 2005 from other PC and try to Restore it on my PC. Both having Windows authentication. But i am facing following error

System.Data.Sqlclient.sqlError:The media set has 2 media families but only 1 are provided. All member must be provided.(Microsoft.Sqlserver.Smo).

IS it problem of Ownar. because owanr of .bak file is different from where i try to restore it.

This is not the problem of owner, it is just because while selecting the restoring device there must be two paths (1. Default by Microsoft, 2. Given by you).
So delete the default path given by SQL Server itself, so it remains only one path that is given by you.
Do let me know in case this doesn t work also

i have stored mdf file and ldf file in dotnet solution file. i have copied my project from another system. i have to restore the database inorder to run my dotnet project.
i have followed your procedure, but when i click the ok button, it shows error.

please help me .

How To attach database sql

mdf and ldf files are not sql2005 based. its sql 2000. so install that and not need to restore. you right click the database in enterprise manager in sql2000..attach the MDF file from location. then run the program

Great step by step guidance. Worked a treat for me who is a complete novice

i need to restore my database in sql server 2005 and as i follow the procedure above there still an error. it shows this:

system.data.sqlclient.sqlerror:directory lookup the file C:program filesmicrosoft sql serverMSSQLDATASTUDENTS INFOREMATION.MDF failed with the operating system error 3(the system cannot findthe path specified.).(microsoft.sqlserver.express.smo)

im using windows 7 and visual studio 2008

while restoring my bakup file in MS SQL 2005 it gives

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Directory lookup for the file c:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDATAtest_infoguideDatabase.mdf failed with the operating system error 3(The system cannot find the path specified.). (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)

Me too findind this error while restoration what does it means plz suggest any suitable way to remove this

i restore my database in sqlserver after restore default it display some path(D:\OTHERS\PROJECTS\TENDERMANAGEMENTSYSTEM\APP_DATA\TMSDATABASE.MDF) but i store my db in some other location..

plz help me how to clear this error

sql server by default provides some path u can restore ur db in ur own location jst click on that path and specify ur own path.

Kings College, London

Since his recent untimely death, Apple co-founder and design guru Steve Jobs has been exalted to the level of a cult hero by an outpouring of fans on social media and many commentators in the traditional news media. Under Jobs’ direction, Apple launched a series of hi-tech products that were not only trailblazing but also retained both a coolness factor and a user-friendliness that rival companies have yet to even mimic, let alone surpass.

The narrative of Jobs-the-entrepreneur helps reaffirm the dominant American narrative of individualism and meritocracy. This is a thoroughly free market narrative: Clever, hard-working individuals drive innovation in the economy, and in the end everyone wins.

A sociological perspective would question this story. Sure, Jobs was a genius at designing consumer electronics. But didn’t he build on the ideas of others, catching a technological wage at just the right moment? Weren’t iPhones and iPads the result of billions of dollars in investment and the collective labor of Apple’s research and development teams?

The individualism-and-free markets narrative is seemingly supported by the discipline of economics, and the latter tends to dominate discussions about work and occupations, in part because it aligns so neatly with the dominant narrative. But even ostensibly basic issues about how the economy works are highly contested, and many scholars analyze the economy from outside of mainstream economics. There are a variety of sociological perspectives on the economy. A central area has historically been the sociology of work, occupations and organizations. (For those who want to learn more, check out a new blog for the Organizations, Occupations and Work section of the American Sociological Association .)

The sociology of work goes back to the classic sociological theorists: Marx. Durkheim and Weber. Each considered the analysis of modern work to be central to the incipient field of sociology.

Sociology is a fundamentally historical discipline. Whereas economists has theorized an ahistorical market society – indeed, a so-called pure and free market that only exists in their imaginations and textbooks – each of the classical sociological theorists began with the historical transition from traditional feudal society to the emerging market-based society. In particular, they were all concerned in one way or another with the development of the modern labor market, where individuals buy and sell their labor for a wage in an open market to an employer.

Marx was the first social theorist to seriously examine the conditions of work in the new factories that were popping up all over England during the industrial revolution, examining how the transition from independent craft work to working inside a factory for a boss resulted in deskilling and alienation. The Marxist tradition continues to look at power dynamics in the workplace and different forms of managerial control of labor .

Durkheim was more concerned with how societies achieved stability based on traditions, customs and norms. He saw that traditional society, composed of peasants and lords, had a very homogeneous set of customs and norms based around feudal obligations and familial relationships. As these traditional relationships and related norms begin to dissolve during the industrial revolution, Durkheim wondered what would be the basis for social stability under the new market norms of individualism and competition. He thought that various industrial and occupational associations could provide such a basis. We see such associations today across the economy: medical associations, lawyers associations, community associations and the like. Durkheimian sociologists thus study the development of professions (and their associations) among other things.

Weber also focused on the transition from traditional to modern society, but his emphasis was on the development of new forms of rationality and how they provided a basis for new types of authority as vested in modern bureaucratic organizations. Specifically, he distinguished forms of authority in traditional society from an emerging form of rational-legal authority.

Traditional authority rested in holders of powerful positions (e.g. priests or lords) whereas charismatic authority was based on loyalty to an individual person because of their personality or charm. In contrast, rational-legal authority derives from one’s position within a bureaucratic organization: someone holds a legally established office (a boss or a public servant). Rationalized bureaucracies are managed by rules (rather than arbitrary power of a traditional leader) and individuals hold offices because of their qualifications (rather than kinship or class). Weberian scholars thus focus on forms of bureaucracy and forms of authority. For an interesting Weberian analysis of Steve Jobs and Apple, see a recent blog post by Kieran Healy .

The research traditions built on the analyses and insights of the classical scholars have been incredibly vibrant and productive. Much of this research has been qualitative in nature, and it has generated a richly nuanced understanding of workplace dynamics and labor market institutions, in stark contrast to economics which for decades considered the business firm to be nothing more than an equation relating inputs to outputs. Today it is still rare for an economist to actually look inside organizations to understand the dynamics of the social relations inside them. Sociologists have examined things like racial and gender discrimination in the workplace, the role of different cultural understandings in shaping managerial strategy, and the role of power relations in shaping the organization of work. One example would be And Donald Tomaskovic-Devey’s classic Gender and Racial Inequality at Work .

Much sociology of work is comparative, looking at differences in employment relations and organizational forms across societies (as well as over time). Among other things, sociologists look at why Americans work on average more than 150 hours per year more than Germans. To answer this question, sociologists would examine how institutions in the economy vary across countries, such as the role of unions and the government, without assuming that economies with less union or state intervention are “freer” or even more efficient. More generally, the qualitative sociology of work and organizations has consistently demonstrated that culture, social and political institutions, and power relations remain fundamental to a full understanding of work life, organizational behavior and, indeed, the functioning of the market.

Returning to Jobs, the sociological lesson would be that despite the dominant narrative of individual entrepreneurship, much of what Jobs has been given credit for is actually the result of vast amounts of collective labor, often of teams (not individuals) working in massive R D labs (not garages), shielded from market competition. For more on Jobs and Apple, see my post “The Mythology of Steve Jobs .”

Qu est ce qu un ERP? A quoi sert-il? #erp, #pgi,

The Graduate Admissions Portal for the Psychology Department is now closed. No additional documents can be submitted to the department at this time.

Counseling Psychology

Counseling psychology focuses on the normal adaptation of individuals to their environment and with helping others cope with crises, problems of daily living and mental challenges. Traditionally, counseling psychology has been concerned with the preventative aspects of mental health and an emphasis on client strengths. You can find out more about the counseling specialty area on the Society for Counseling Psychology web page. The counseling psychology program at UNT is committed to the idea that human problems are the result of complex interaction of environmental factors and developmental changes in the person. The program provides professional training within the broad context of the scientist-practitioner model. The Director of counseling psychology training at UNT is Chiachih DC Wang, Ph.D..

The Ph.D. with a major in counseling psychology prepares students for work as independent professionals in research, academic, or applied settings. The counseling psychology doctoral program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association’s Committee on Accreditation [750 First Street NE, Washington, D.C. 20002-4242, telephone (202) 336-5979]. The program was first accredited in 1978 under the directorship of Ray W. Johnson, Ph.D.

Tips for How to Get Into Graduate School

  2. Applicants will be notified by December 31, 2016 whether they are invited to the campus interview day (Notifications to applicants who are invited to the campus interview on January 27th have been sent and confirmed in late December. This year, our program will hold campus interviews on only one day (January 27, 2017). The campus interview day is a whole-day event that provides the opportunity for program faculty, current students, and applicants to learn about each other. It plays a critical role in our admission decisions. If the Counseling Psychology Program at UNT is your top choice, please reserve the date and make every effort to attend the campus interviews should you be invited.

Elk Grove Township, elk grove village public library.#Elk #grove #village #public

Elk grove village public library

Welcome to Elk Grove Township! It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Elk Grove Township Supervisor. As a lifelong resident of Elk Grove Township I remember going to bike safety as a student at St. Zachary School in Des Plaines. At the time I didn’t know what Township Government was, but I knew about Bike Safety Town. Over the years I learned that Bike Safety is a great program, but Elk Grove Township is so much more. Township government is the oldest form of government in Illinois and continues to be an integral part of our community.

Today Elk Grove Township provides residential property tax advocacy and essential human services. As a Township we provide direct and indirect human services. Direct services include Senior Citizen Bus transportation, Youth Services and a food pantry. In addition to our direct services, Elk Grove Township provides grants to organizations that provide human services to our residents. The Kenneth Young Center, The Northwest Community Hospital Mobile Dental Clinic and Wings, among others, are organizations that receive Township grants. Contracting with outside organizations to serve our residents creates efficiency and allows us to stretch every tax dollar we receive and avoid duplication of service. We take pride in providing the best service possible as efficiently as possible.

I’m proud to say that Elk Grove Township is working very well. The Township has no debt, is 100% funded in its pension obligations and has a healthy reserve.

Please explore our website and learn more about what we do. We are an open book. On our site you can find our minutes, levies, budgets and other financial information. If you do not see the information you need please give us a call or send us an email and we’ll be happy to help. Don’t forget to sign up for our email updates. Your email will be confidential and you will only receive Township information.

I look forward to continuing to serve you.

10 Practical Employee Engagement Steps that Drive Results

By: Bob Kelleher, author of LOUDER THAN WORDS: 10 Practical Employee Engagement Steps That Drive Results

An important tool that I use to help firms identify their employment brand is an employee engagement survey based on the 10 steps of engagement listed below. These steps will help you determine why people work for your company. This becomes important intelligence as you create your employment brand.

1. Link your engagement efforts to high performance: Employee engagement is not about employee satisfaction. The last thing you should want is a team of satisfied but underperforming employees.

2. Employee engagement starts at the top: Most studies show that a key employee engagement driver is the actions of senior leaders. Leaders must demonstrate support for an engaged company culture by personally living their company s values.

3. Engage first-line leaders: The old adage, employees join great companies, but quit bad bosses is true.

4. Focus on communication, the cornerstone of engagement : Successful leaders recognize the power of a robust communication plan, one built on clarity, consistency, and transparency.

5. Individualize your engagement: Your philosophy should go beyond treat people they way you want to be treated; the new mantra is treat people the way they want to be treated.

6. Create a motivational culture: Leaders cannot motivate employees long-term. Leaders must create motivational cultures with an engaged workforce where employees can flourish and motivate each other.

7. Create feedback mechanisms: Companies need to ask employees what they think; employee engagement surveys are a great tool to assess an organization s pulse.

8. Reinforce and reward the right behaviors: Employees are incredibly motivated by achievement, not money. Money can disengage if employees perceive unfairness.

9. Track and communicate progress: Employees are no different than leadership — they both want to work for a winning organization. Leaders need to reinforce line of sight by telling their employees where they re going, how they re performing, and where they fit in.

10. Hire and promote the right behaviors and traits for your culture: Although we place much emphasis on one s educational background and skills, people generally succeed or fail because of their behaviors and traits (remember that soft skills count .)

AA or AS Criminal Justice Degree What s the

Are you planning on taking on an associates degree in Criminal Justice? If you are, then you might want to know the difference between an AA or an AS degree.

AA stands for Associate of Arts. while AS stands for Associate of Science. Mostly, both the Associate of Arts and the Associate of Science degrees should present you with a strong readiness for criminal justice academia or law enforcement careers. That said, you will also be coming across courses like math, social sciences, arts and humanities, and communication classes.

    Associates of Arts Degree (AA):

    • is usually less specialized than a Associate of Science (AS)
    • for the most part it is awarded in majors like languages, literature, history, and humanities
    • is similar in quarter hour or semester hour requirements to an AS degree

    Associates of Science Degree (AS):

    • usually involves technical or scientific fields
    • is typically awarded in concentrations like biological sciences physical sciences
    • requires more 200 level classes, or above, in comparison to an AA degree (this factor depends on the school)

So which criminal justice degree option should you choose?

In my view, it entirely hinges on your aspirations. Providing you would like to study what criminal justice is, an AA or an AS route is great. If you are anticipating on examining criminal justice in depth, and would like to enter into criminal justice, criminology, or criminal psychology areas of study, you should think about the associate of science alternative. In any case, don’t scratch your head too long over which academic degree type you should follow up on. Both the AA and the AS options are sought after by colleges and universities who grant bachelor degrees.

Words of advice: Associate level degrees may not be enough to secure a career, so check with your local Police Department, Sheriff, State Police if you meet their educational requirements. A lot of popular federal law enforcement agencies require a bachelor degree or above.

But, you should not worry too much. If you are just out of high school, or are deciding to come back to get your education, there are enough career options from local to federal agencies that will readily accept an AA or an AS degree.

which one would be better for me AA or AS degree if I wish to be a detective like law and order special victims unit? Thank you.

Both are Associate degrees so it really shouldn’t matter that much if you wanted to pursue being a detective. Many states require you to have an equivalent of an Associate’s degree when you join the police force. Once on the force, then you can apply for the detectives exam (usually withing 3-5 years on average).

Thank You Very Much for the advice and the understanding the difference between an AA and AS degrees!

Is there any way to accelerate getting an AA in Criminal Justice? Or does it take the entire two years?

You may get it in about a year and a half if you load up on credits or if you consider going online, where classes can be much more accelerated.

I am wanting to do the photography part of Criminal Justice. Not necessarily the forensic part, but just in general photography. I am assuming I would need a AA Degree. Would I be assuming right since photography would be an Arts category? Thank you for your time.

    MPHil Theology Degree #mphil #degree

    MPhil in Theology

Information for Prospective MPhil DPhil Students – Download

Rules for Degrees of Master of Philosophy – Download

Syllabuses for Degrees of Master of Philosophy – Download

Our uniquely designed MPhil in Theology programme, with its strong interdisciplinary and ecumenical emphases, is rooted in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and, at the same time, it seeks to contribute to its growth and development from specifically South African perspectives. Masters in Theology at St Augustine College comes in three specialisations: Fundamental Systematic Theology, Christian Spirituality and Pastoral Theology, though the last one is not being offered in 2015-2016. The fourth specialisation in Canon Law, once available at the College, may be reoffered should there be sufficient number of students interested in that option.

The uniqueness of this programme lies in the fact that it combines contact modules with independent study. Modules are scheduled four times during the year. The students attend one week of intensive lectures (usually timed to coincide with the school holidays) and then complete further requirements independently in the following 9 or 10 weeks. The degree requires seven ‘taught’ modules and a subsequent research paper of 18,000 words under the supervision of a lecturer. An Honours degree is required for admittance to the programme, however it need not be in an area directly related to Theology. It is also possible to do an MPhil degree entirely by research should the student qualify on the basis of their previous study and research record.

All MPhil Theology Students (But for Canon Law) must take the following core modules:

    • MPHT 538: GENERAL SURVEY OF THEOLOGY (unless exempt due to previous studies in theology)
    • And a RESEARCH PAPER of 18,000 words in the area of specialisation.

    • MPHT 532: DYAMICS OF SPIRITUALITY (required)
    • MPHT 533: MYSTICISM (elective)
    • MPHT 530: BIBLICAL SPIRITUALITY (elective)

*If a student has not done previous studies in theology, the student must take the General Survey of Theology ( MPHT538)

    Online Paralegal Certificate Programs #online #college #paralegal

    Online Paralegal Certificate Programs

One of the most exciting things about being a working professional in this day and age is that education options are being catered specifically to you. In the past, if you were working full time and wanted to pursue additional schooling, you would need to find a way to attend school in person during the working day. With the advent of online learning and the increasing demand for personalized and efficient education options, the working professional now has more schooling options than ever before.

If you are currently in the workforce and are interested in changing career paths by pursuing a paralegal certificate, there are many online options. Online options are also available for those who have recently graduated from a college degree program and are looking to add a paralegal certificate to their resume. Online paralegal certificate programs are a great option for today’s busy world because they offer professional instruction in the basics of being a paralegal, and give you the option of conveniently completing your training from your own home.

    Types of Online Paralegal Programs

The main differences in types of online paralegal programs are the outcome of the course of study. Students who complete an online paralegal program may receive a paralegal certificate, associates degree in paralegal studies, or a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies. The differences between all of these online programs are described in detail below.

    Online Paralegal Certificate Programs

In order to pursue a paralegal certificate program, most schools require that students have already obtained either a two or four year degree. If you already have a degree and are looking for a relatively quick way to get into the legal profession, an online paralegal certificate may be right for you.

Online paralegal certificate programs typically take anywhere from 9 to 18 months to complete. They can be completed on a full or part-time basis. Many online certificate programs are designed for parents or working professionals, offering flexible online learning that takes place during evenings or weekends. In a typical certificate program, students learn the most important basics of the paralegal profession such as legal writing and research, professional communication, and legal ethics. A paralegal certificate is not the equivalent of a paralegal degree, but it is a great way to learn the basics in order to try for entry level jobs and begin working as a paralegal. Potential future employers will likely look more favorably upon a candidate with some paralegal education than a candidate with none. A certificate can give you the edge you need in the job market.

Online Associates in Paralegal Studies Programs

If you have not yet obtained any kind of college degree and you would like to become a paralegal, a program which offers an associates degree may be a good choice for you. If you pursue an associates degree full-time, it will usually take about 2 years to complete. Many community colleges and online universities offer online associates degrees in paralegal studies or legal studies. The flexibility and convenience of online learning cannot be matched by in-person schooling. Pursuing an online degree allows you to take care of your coursework at times that are convenient for you. Some programs even give you the option of going at your own pace to complete your degree. Online learning may involve real-time video lectures, or pre-recorded lectures. It may also include web-based chats with fellow students and professors. The specifics for each online program will vary; however, the general idea behind offering online classes is that they give traditional and non-traditional students additional education options to help make a degree more achievable.

Online Bachelor’s in Paralegal Studies Program

If you do not have previous college credit, or you already have an associates degree, you may be interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree program in legal studies or paralegal studies. A typical bachelor’s degree program takes about four years of full-time schooling to complete. Many colleges and universities offer online bachelor’s programs for those interested in becoming paralegals.

Unlike a certificate program, associates and to a greater extent bachelor’s degree programs, will likely require students to complete some general classes over the course of their studies. Some typical general courses required may include social sciences, economics, mathematics, humanities, or statistics. These types of courses provide a well-rounded education and may help students further develop communication and critical thinking skills. Students often complete these courses before they move on with more specified legal and paralegal coursework.

Online bachelor’s degree programs (and sometimes associates programs) may include an internship as a part of the required course of study. The internship would be the only part of the program that would not be completed online. An internship as a paralegal student can be an incredibly valuable experience. It is worth the hassle of attempting to work your regular job and also work internship hours as it may give you a leg up when looking for a future job as an entry-level paralegal because it provides some job experience.

In most states, with the exception of California, there are no special requirements or certifications necessary in order to practice as a paralegal. In theory, one could work as a paralegal with no specific legal or paralegal training. In practice, however, the chances of landing a paralegal job with no experience or education are quite slim.

If you are hoping to become a paralegal but have no way of getting legal job experience, obtaining a certificate or degree is an exemplary way to become qualified for a potential paralegal position. When a law firm is seeking to hire a paralegal they will consider many factors, but education and experience may be the most influential. Paralegals work alongside attorneys and assist them with all types of projects. From client management, to legal writing and drafting, paralegals must be prepared for a wide variety of tasks. Education in the legal field will help you become more thoroughly prepared to perform the tasks required of a paralegal.

A total of 27 credits is required to complete this degree. In the fourth term in the MOT program, students may apply to the program. Accepted students complete 2 online courses (6 credits) during their final spring and summer semester of the MOT program. After successfully completing these courses (B- or better), students are conditionally admitted to the OTD program pending the following:

    • Successful completion of Level II Fieldwork requirements
    • MOT degree conferral
    • Passing the NBCOT exam
    • Obtaining a license to practice Occupational Therapy
    • 4 months of employment as an occupational therapist

While working as an occupational therapist, students complete the 21 additional credits online to complete the degree requirements. Students must be actively engaged in the OTD program within 3 years of completing the MOT degree.

Remember, all programs are not the same. Check out the Chatham difference! Chatham University MOT graduates are eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT ) certification exam. Successful completion of this exam certifies the therapist as an OTR . State licensure is required by most states and is usually based on the results of the NBCOT certification exam. A felony conviction may prevent a graduate from taking the NBCOT exam or obtaining a state license.

Vonage Help with WRT54G, QOS, & Vonage settings – VOIP Tech

    f96c8c05ed93ed16c26af8a72f0efab2/Vonage.bmp” />
    QOS settings

I have a Vonage Liknksys P2P behind a linksys WRT54 router with the Alchemy-6.0-RC4a FBN Edition firmware. I set up the QOS the best I know how and with this firmware the phone is at least usable at times. The problem is at times the phone breaks up and is un-useable, especially when I try and surf the web. Please see the attachment for my QOS settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the quality setting on the lowest setting, 30, on Vonage web site.

add your PAP2’s mac address to the mac priority QoS

    2005-Jan-29 3:18 am

Under “Port”, click WAN only. You shouldn’t need to QOS your internal network (LAN) unless you have some kind of super computer collection all going at once.

Next, put zeros in the uplink kbps and downlink kbps which will allow the router to determine the best settings. My guess is these two settings (435/500) is what is messing up your QOS. Let the router do the work and use 0/0 Here’s my reasoning. Say you use cable and have 3,000/256 speeds. That 435kbps setting is higher than your 256 upload speed so that looks like it shouldn’t hurt you, but the 500kbps is killing you. That limits your 3,000kbps (if that is what you have with a normal cable line these days) to only 500kbps or 1/6 of it’s possible speed. Since most computer use is downloading, I’d expect you to have some problems using VOIP and a computer with only 500kbps download ability. So leave those settings at zero (for both) and let the router decide what to do.

Under “Ethernet Port Priority”, leave all 4 LAN ports at the Max Rate settings at 100M. Since you have port one set to “Premium”, make sure your VOIP device is plugged into the LAN port 1 on your router.

This is how I have my Alchemy setup and my Vonage ATA-186 works absolutely great using these settings.

Once again, I think your big problem here is limiting your download speeds to 500kbps when you likely have lots more than that. Use 0 / 0 and see what happens. Limiting 3 LAN ports to 256kbps is also not necessary. The router will prioritize the LAN port 1 regardless of what speed the other LAN ports are set at. Let the router do most of the work, not you. Good luck.

I have absolutely not had any luck with Vonage and linksys routers, at all. Changing the codecs on Vonage’s site had no bearing on my outcome. I even went out and bought a new router, and that did not change anything. Vonage CS was NO help at all. I was so disgusted I was ready to cancel, then I tried one last method:

I ditched the linksys routers altogether, and ran Internet Connection Sharing on my windows xp machine (Just add a 2nd nic and then a cable to either your pap adaptor, or to your switch). Once I did that, hardly anyone can tell I’m on a VOIP phone, unless I tell them.

Experimenting with QOS, and all that garbage on a wimpy linksys router will cause more harm than good. For one it can only do so many nat translations per second, usually around 40. After that it starts queueing and dropping packets when the queue is full. It does not take much to get to 40. Every request to a dns server, if you have AIM/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo open, pop3 email, gmail notifier, etc. On my ancient router here the timeout per translation is about 45 seconds. Also my linksys router (original) was a 386 20mhz cpu. The newer one seemed faster but since it didn’t solve my problem I took it back and got a refund.

Even with my setup here I try to avoid surfing the web when I am on the phone. Good luck!

OK, I’ve been using Sveasoft firmware for quite a while now. I’m a subscriber and I read the support forums there. Don’t set it 0/0. Alchemy doesn’t work that way. It is not coded to “auto discover” the speeds. I set mine to the actual caps on my modem. (On prior versions of the Sveasoft firmware it was suggested to use 80% of your caps. I find this unnecessary on the latest Alchemy.) Agree, all ports should be set to 100mbps and Standard class, except for the port the MTA is connected to.

r0ck0: I’ve had no success with MAC address prioritization but I haven’t tried it for a few versions. I set a static IP address (via DHCP in Alchemy) for my MTA and use IP address prioritization. And I set the port it was connected to to Premium class.

d2classic: Don’t know what you’re on about, but there are a LOT of people using WRT54Gs successfully this way. I take it you were using the stock firmware? We’re talking about a 3rd party firmware that has a QoS implementation that actually works.

Note that I’ve downgraded my Internet connection speed (used to be 4000/500, now it’s 2200/300) and I still have perfect Vonage service when I’m uploading and downloading full bore. This firmware works.

    2005-Jan-29 11:51 am

I agree with AstroGuy 100%, the firmware works. I couldn’t do my day to day network activities without it! We no longer have to worry about what we are doing on the PC’s when the phone is ringing, even if both lines are in use with both of them set to HIGH quality.

Set up a static IP to the TA box outside of the standard DHCP scope. Something like Then set the netmast of as Premium.

Make sure you have WAN picked too for the QOS.

Re: [Vonage] Help with WRT54G, QOS, & Vonage settings

I really appreciate all your help and input and I will be trying your suggestions. One further thing I noticed lately is at certain times of the day, like around 1400 to about 1800, the phone breaks up bad. Also, I have discovered that even with both computers powered down the phone breaks up during the above mentioned times. So is this looking like my ISP or the WAN can’t handle the busy times plus my VOIP?

Again thanks and I’ll let you know how these changes come out.

just curious, why do you have to set the Netmask Priority and the Port Priority? Doesn’t one take precedence over the other?

Genetic Counseling is not only an enjoyable and fascinating career, it is also one with national job growth potential !

The Augustana-Sanford Genetic Counseling Graduate Program (ASGCGP) welcomed its pioneer class — the Class of 2018 — on September 1, 2016, at the Sanford Center. The ASGCGP is a collaborative program among Augustana University, Sanford Health, and numerous other partners. It is one of less than 40 ACGC-accredited programs in the U.S. and the only one in South Dakota.

Applications for the 2018-2019 academic year will open in the Fall of 2017. All applications will be reviewed by the Genetic Counseling Graduate Program Admission Committee. Upon review, the committee will determine the most-qualified applicants, and they will be invited for on-site interviews. Offers of admission will be extended in April 2018.

In this two-year program. the student learning experience equally involves classroom learning, hands-on participation, and clinical rotations. While the first year is more heavily weighted toward classroom learning, students begin to have clinical patient interactions in their first semester. During the second year, the balance shifts away from classroom learning and toward a richer clinical experience.

All students enrolled in the program spend their first academic year in Sioux Falls, whereas second-year students train in either Sioux Falls or San Diego, California. Students in both locations are connected with each other through technology and frequent communication.

Augustana University’s Master’s in Genetic Counseling program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC). located at 4400 College Blvd. Ste. 220, Overland Park, KS 66211, web address www.gceducation.org. ACGC can be reached by phone at 913.222.8668.

HOME AT SEVEN. British Lion Film Corp. 1952. Released in the US as Murder on Monday . 1953. Ralph Richardson, Margaret Leighton, Jack Hawkins, Campbell Singer, Michael Shepley, Margaret Withers. Based on a play by R.C. Sherriff. Director: Ralph Richardson.

[Before reading the review that follows, you may wish to go back to Dan’s earlier comments on Interrupted Journey . reviewed here. —Steve.]

That scene toward the end of Interrupted Journey came strongly to mind as I watched another British Film, Home at Seven . the only film ever directed by Sir Ralph Richardson, and a pleasant surprise from start to finish.

When Great Actors turn to Directing Fillums, they often get a bit mannered. Sometimes unbearably so. I m reminded of Laurence Harvey s awful The Ceremony and John Wayne s ponderous The Alamo . Even films I rather enjoy, such as Olivier s Hamlet and Brando s One-Eyed Jacks suffer from a certain amount of self-conscious narcissism.

Which is why I was so charmed by Home at Seven ’s unpretentious spontaneity. From start to finish, it s a quiet, workmanlike job of entertainment never flashy boasting fine performances from Richardson (always a delight to watch) Margaret Leighton and Jack Hawkins.

I can tell a little about the plot this time: Richardson plays a Bank Clerk who returns home from work one night carrying the evening paper; promptly at Seven as usual to find his wife in tears. His first impulse is to soothe her, of course, and when she tells him he s been missing for the last 24 hours, he poohpoohs the notion, pointing out that he s clean, shaved, his clothes not slept in, and carrying the Monday Paper: Hardly the appearance of a man who s lost a day.

Surely, he tells her, it must have been a dream she had while napping. Must stop working so hard, and all that. At which point he discovers that it s Tuesday s Paper he s holding.

It s an intriguing notion to start a film with, and it gets better as Richardson discovers that money he was responsible for is missing and a close associate is dead. Very swiftly, the film becomes another paranoid nightmare, on the order of Interrupted Journey . but done with just a touch more realism and consideration to character.

Unlike the characters in most thrillers, everyone in Home at Seven seems perfectly real and very likable: Richardson s Average-Guy Hero, his fretful wife, Jack Hawkins sympathetic Doctor and even someone named Campbell Singer as an apologetic but insistent Police Inspector. One gets a real sense of ordinary people who ve had some awful intrusion into their lives and can t figure how to cope with it.

There is a stunningly effective scene in Home at Seven where Richardson and his wife are at home and he thinks the Police are coming to arrest him for Murder. Sound familiar? I thought so too. But wait; Feeling the Long Arm of The Law at his back, Richardson sits down with his wife at the kitchen table and quietly begins to explain to her how to do the Accounts.

It s a moment all the more touching for its restraint with both of them trying hard not to cry as they deal with the commonplace aspects of a nightmare, and it shows a sensitivity and intelligence that are just too rare in the Film Thriller.

6 Responses to A Movie Review by Dan Stumpf: HOME AT SEVEN (1953).

As you say Richardson directs in a simple almost matter of fact manner that allows the viewer to really identify with the character s plight, and everyone in the film personifies that dignified decentness of a certain type and class of Brit from that period.

I agree, that scene where he starts to tell his wife how to do the accounts is brilliant. It s all the more powerful for being so truthfully observed.

Richardson was never as showy as Olivier or Gielgud not even in showy roles like in Eugene O Neill or the grandfather in GREYSTOKE.

Here he simply chooses to observe a man under a magnifying glass at a point of crisis in his life. He soft pedals the melodrama and instead finds the quiet tension of a man whose world is turned upside down.

Great review of a great little film.

I certainly want to see it now. It sounds like exactly the kind of film I enjoy with any luck, such new broadcast networks as This TV, which are plundering English films of this era, or the more respectful cable stations such as TCM, will make it available soon.

I ll have to track this down. Like Todd, this is sounds like the kind of movie I enjoy.

    George and Todd

It doesn t appear that the movie is commercially available on DVD, but at least three sellers on ioffer.com have collector-to-collector copies for sale. I don t recognize their monikers so I can t recommend one over the other, should you go that route.

I think this has played on TCM at least once which is where I think I saw it though it may have been on the old Family Channel which had quite a few old British films in its lineup.

I recently bought DVD movie titled Home at seven from E-bay. I was very, very disappointed that it did NOT have Closed Captions. It is a must for the deaf and hard of hearing people. That movie is talky movie not much action.
I hope it will be shown with CC on TCM channel soon. PLEASE. Thanks, Cornelia Strohmeier of San Jose, CA

13 Types of Social Media Platforms and Counting – Decidedly Social

13 Types of Social Media Platforms and Counting

When I talk to people about social media marketing, the overwhelming majority of people only think about Facebook. They think social media equals Facebook. Although that makes sense given the ubiquity and widespread adoption of this social network, it is NOT the only lemonade stand on the block! Social media has proliferated and evolved into many new shapes and forms and there might be some hidden gems waiting for you and your business.

    So what is social media?

Since the term “social media” was first introduced into our lexicon in 2004, the rapid changes in technologies and fragmentation into various forms of social media has been beyond belief. This evolution makes defining social media a bit slippery. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary the definition of social media is “forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content”. Alright, that makes sense so let’s take a look at all of the different types of social media platforms that fit this definition.

    List of social media platforms

    1. Social networking sites Facebook, Google Plus, CafeMom, Gather, Fitsugar
  • Micro-blogging sites Twitter, Tumblr, Posterous
  • Publishing tools WordPress, Blogger, Squarespace
  • Collaboration tools Wikipedia, WikiTravel, WikiBooks
  • Rating/Review sites Amazon ratings, Angie’s List
  • Photo sharing sites Flikr, Instagram, Pinterest
  • Video sharing sites YouTube, Vimeo, Viddler
  • Personal broadcasting tools Blog Talk radio, Ustream, Livestream
  • Virtual worlds Second Life, World of Warcraft, Farmville
  • Location based services Check-ins, Facebook Places, Foursquare, Yelp
  • Widgets Profile badges, Like buttons
  • Social bookmarking and news aggregation Digg, Delicious
  • Group buying Groupon, Living Social, Crowdsavings
  • Consider social media tools for business

As a small business owner you may feel overwhelmed with all of the options. Take a deep breath…and know that you should NOT be active in all of these social media platforms for your business. Consider your business objectives and develop a targeted social media marketing strategy while being realistic about the time and energy you are willing to expend in your social media efforts.

The main message is that there might be social media marketing alternatives to Facebook and other social networking sites that could give you a considerable business advantage. With Facebook moving to the Facebook Timeline format for all business pages (which many consider a disadvantage for small businesses ) looking at alternative social media marketing platforms may be more important than ever. Before you launch your presence on any platform consider the options and what works best for your unique business. Remember, strategy before technology!

Can you think of any social media platforms that I ve missed? Thanks for commenting!

    National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center #office #of #cybersecurity #and #communications

National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center

The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for protecting our Nation’s critical infrastructure from physical and cyber threats. Cyberspace enables businesses and government to operate, facilitates emergency preparedness communications, and enables critical control systems processes. Protecting these systems is essential to the resilience and reliability of the Nation’s critical infrastructure and key resources and to our economic and national security.

    NCCIC Overview

The NCCIC serves as a central location where a diverse set of partners involved in cybersecurity and communications protection coordinate and synchronize their efforts. NCCIC’s partners include other government agencies, the private sector, and international entities. Working closely with its partners, NCCIC analyzes cybersecurity and communications information, shares timely and actionable information, and coordinates response, mitigation and recovery efforts.

    NCCIC Vision

To operate at the intersection of government, private sector, and international network defense communities, applying unique analytic perspectives, ensuring shared situational awareness, and orchestrating synchronized response, mitigation, and recovery efforts while protecting the Constitutional and privacy rights of Americans in both the cybersecurity and communications domains.

    NCCIC Mission

To operate at the intersection of the private sector, civilian, law enforcement, intelligence, and defense communities, applying unique analytic perspectives, ensuring shared situational awareness, and orchestrating synchronized response efforts while protecting the Constitutional and privacy rights of Americans in both the Cybersecurity and communications domains.

    The NCCIC’s missions include:

    • Leading the protection of federal civilian agencies in cyberspace;
    • Working closely together with critical infrastructure owners and operators to reduce risk;
    • Collaborating with state and local governments through the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC);
    • Cooperating with international partners to share information and respond to incidents;
    • Coordinating national response to significant cyber incidents in accordance with the National Cyber Incident Response Plan (NCIRP);
    • Analyzing data to develop and share actionable mitigation recommendations
    • Creating and maintaining shared situational awareness among its partners and constituents;
    • Orchestrating national protection, prevention, mitigation, and recovery activities associated with significant cyber and communication incidents;
    • Disseminating cyber threat and vulnerability analysis information;
    • Assisting in the initiation, coordination, restoration, and reconstitution of National Security or Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP) telecommunications services and facilities under all conditions, crises, or emergencies; and
    • Executing Emergency Support Function 2- Communications (ESF-2) responsibilities under the National Response Framework (NRF).

The NCCIC is comprised of four branches:

    • NCCIC Operations Integration (NO I );
    • United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT);
    • Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT); and
    • National Coordinating Center for Communications (NCC) .

As mutually supporting, fully integrated elements of the NCCIC, these branches provide the authorities, capabilities, and partnerships necessary to lead a whole-of-nation approach to addressing cybersecurity and communications issues at the operational level.

NO I plans, coordinates, and integrates capabilities to synchronize analysis, information sharing, and incident management efforts across the NCCIC’s branches and activities.

US-CERT brings advanced network and digital media analysis expertise to bear on malicious activity targeting our nation’s networks. US-CERT develops timely and actionable information for distribution to federal departments and agencies, state and local governments, private sector organizations, and international partners. In addition, US-CERT operates the National Cybersecurity Protection System (NCPS), which provides intrusion detection and prevention capabilities to covered federal departments and agencies.

ICS-CERT reduces risk to the nation’s critical infrastructure by strengthening control systems security through public-private partnerships. ICS-CERT has four focus areas: situational awareness for CIKR stakeholders; control systems incident response and technical analysis; control systems vulnerability coordination; and strengthening cybersecurity partnerships with government departments and agencies.

NCC leads and coordinates the initiation, restoration, and reconstitution of NS/EP telecommunications services or facilities under all conditions. NCC leverages partnerships with government, industry and international partners to obtain situational awareness and determine priorities for protection and response.

The NCCIC relies heavily on voluntary collaboration with its partners. The NCCIC works closely with federal departments and agencies and actively engages with private sector companies and institutions, along with state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, and international counterparts. Each group of stakeholders represents a community of practice, working together to protect the portions of critical information technology that they own, operate, manage, or interact with.

    How Domain Name Servers Work

You just learned that the primary job of a domain name server, or DNS server, is to resolve (translate) a domain name into an IP address. That sounds like a simple task, and it would be, except for the following points:

    • There are billions of IP addresses currently in use, and most machines have a human-readable name as well.
    • DNS servers (cumulatively) are processing billions of requests across the Internet at any given time.
    • Millions of people are adding and changing domain names and IP addresses each day.

With so much to handle, DNS servers rely on network efficiency and Internet protocols. Part of the IP’s effectiveness is that each machine on a network has a unique IP address in both the IPV4 and IPV6 standards managed by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA). Here are some ways to recognize an IP address:

    Keep Reading Below

    • An IP address in the IPV4 standard has four numbers separated by three decimals, as in:
    • An IP address in the IPV6 standard has eight hexadecimal numbers (base-16) separated by colons, as in 2001:0cb8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334. Because IPV6 is still a very new standard, we’ll concentrate on the more common IPV4 for this article.
    • Each number in an IPV4 number is called an octet because it’s a base-10 equivalent of an 8-digit base-2 (binary) number used in routing network traffic. For example, the octet written as 42 stands for 00101010. Each digit in the binary number is the placeholder for a certain power of two from 2 to 2 7. reading from right to left. That means that in 00101010, you have one each of 2 1. 2 3 and 2 5. So, to get the base-10 equivalent, just add 2 1 + 2 3 + 2 5 = 2 + 8 + 32 = 42. For more about how IP addresses are constructed, see our article What is an IP address?
    • There are only 256 possibilities for the value of each octect: the numbers 0 through 255.
    • Certain addresses and ranges are designated by the IANA as reserved IP addresses. which means they have a specific job in IP. For example, the IP address is reserved to identify the computer you’re currently using. So, talking to is just talking to yourself!

Where does your computer’s IP address come from? If we’re talking about your desktop or laptop computer, it probably comes from a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server on your network. The job of a DHCP server is to make sure your computer has the IP address and other network configuration it needs whenever you’re online. Because this is dynamic, the IP address for your computer will probably change from time to time, such as when you shut down your computer for a few days. As the user, you’ll probably never notice all this taking place. See the sidebar on this page for hints on where to find the IP address assigned to your computer or mobile device.

Web servers and other computers that need a consistent point of contact use static IP addresses. This means that the same IP address is always assigned to that system’s network interface when it’s online. To make sure that interface always gets the same IP address, IP associates the address with the Media Access Control (MAC) address for that network interface. Every network interface, both wired and wireless, has a unique MAC address embedded in it by the manufacturer.

For more information on IP addresses, see the IANA. operated by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Now, though, let’s look at the other side of the DNS equation: domain names.

    Finding Your IP Address

The following are tips on how to find your computer’s IP address. Note that the address will change periodically unless you’ve chosen to use a static IP (rare for end-users):

    • Windows — Though you can click through the user interface to find your network interface settings, one quick way to find your IP address is to open the Command Prompt application from Accessories and enter this command: ipconfig
    • Mac — Open your System Preferences, click Network, be sure your current network connection (with the green dot beside it) is selected, click Advanced, and click the TCP/IP tab.
    • Linux or UNIX — If don’t already have a command prompt, open a terminal application, such as XTERM or iTerm. At the command prompt, enter this command: ifconfig
    • Smartphones using WiFi — Look at your phone’s network settings. This will vary depending on the phone the version of its operating system.

Note that if you’re on a home or small local network, your address will probably be in the form 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x or 10.x.x.x (where x is a number between 0 and 255). These are reserved addresses used on each local network, and a router on that network then connects you to the Internet.

It happens more often than you’d imagine:

    • Just over 1 in 4 of today’s 20 year-olds will become disabled before they retire. 1
    • Over 37 million Americans are classified as disabled; about 12% of the total population. More than 50% of those disabled Americans are in their working years, from 18-64. 2
    • 8.8 million disabled wage earners, over 5% of U.S. workers, were receiving Social Security Disability (SSDI) benefits at the end of 2012. 3
    • In December of 2012, there were over 2.5 million disabled workers in their 20s, 30s, and 40s receiving SSDI benefits. 3

    Chances of becoming disabled:

The following statistics come from CDA s PDQ disability risk calculator: 4

    • A typical female, age 35, 5 4 , 125 pounds, non-smoker, who works mostly an office job, with some outdoor physical responsibilities, and who leads a healthy lifestyle has the following risks:
      • A 24% chance of becoming disabled for 3 months or longer during her working career;
        • with a 38% chance that the disability would last 5 years or longer,
        • and with the average disability for someone like her lasting 82 months.
      • If this same person used tobacco and weighed 160 pounds, the risk would increase to a 41% chance of becoming disabled for 3 months or longer.
    • A typical male, age 35, 5 10 , 170 pounds, non-smoker, who works an office job, with some outdoor physical responsibilities, and who leads a healthy lifestyle has the following risks:
      • A 21% chance of becoming disabled for 3 months or longer during his working career;
        • with a 38% chance that the disability would last 5 years or longer,
        • and with the average disability for someone like him lasting 82 months.
      • If this same person used tobacco and weighed 210 pounds, the risk would increase to a 45% chance of becoming disabled for 3 months or longer.

A sample of factors that increase the risk of disability: Excess body weight, tobacco use, high risk activities or behaviors, chronic conditions such as; diabetes, high blood pressure, back pain, anxiety or depression, frequent alcohol consumption or substance abuse.

A sample of factors that decrease the risk of disability: Maintaining a healthy body weight, no tobacco use, healthy diet and sleep habits, regular exercise, moderate to no alcohol consumption, avoidance of high risk behaviors including substance abuse, maintaining a healthy stress level, and effective treatment of chronic health conditions.

To calculate your own Personal Disability Quotient (PDQ), go to:
    http://www.whatsmypdq.org .

Disability prevents people from earning a living:

    • There were over 2.8 million new Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) applications in 2012, slightly lower than in the two previous years, but still 29% higher than in 2007, and 67% higher than 2002 levels. 3
    • 61% of surveyed wage earners personally know someone who has been disabled and unable to work for 3 months or longer. 5
    • Wage earners who know someone who has been disabled predict their own odds to be higher than respondents who do not. 5
    • The average group long-term disability claim lasts 34.6 months. 6
    • The average individual disability claim lasts 31.6 months. 7
    • One in eight workers will be disabled for five years or more during their working careers. 8

Working Americans underestimate their risk of disability:

    • 64% of wage earners believe they have a 2% or less chance of being disabled for 3 months or more during their working career. 5 The actual odds for a worker entering the workforce today are about 25%. 1
    • Most working Americans estimate that their own chances of experiencing a long term disability are substantially lower than the average worker s. 5

    Disability causes severe financial hardship:

    • 90% of wage earners rated their ability to earn an income as valuable or very valuable in helping them achieve long-term financial security wage earners perceive their ability to earn an income as even more valuable than retirement savings, medical insurance, personal possessions, other forms of savings or their homes. 5
    • Medical problems contributed to 62% 9 of all personal bankruptcies filed in the U.S. in 2007- an estimate of over 500,000. 10 This is a 50% increase over results from a similar 2001 study.
    • Medical problems contributed to half of all home foreclosure filings in 2006. 11

    Common causes of disability:

    • According to CDA’s 2013 Long-Term Disability Claims Review 12. the following were the leading causes of new disability claims in 2012:
      • Musculoskeletal/connective tissue disorders (28.5%) *
      • Cancer (14.6%)
      • Injuries and poisoning (10.6%)
      • Mental disorders (8.9%)
      • Cardiovascular/circulatory disorders (8.2%)
    • The most common causes of existing disability claims in 2012 were:
      • Musculoskeletal/connective tissue disorders (30.7%) *
      • Disorders of the nervous system and sense organs (14.2%)
      • Cardiovascular/circulatory disorders (12.1%)
      • Cancer (9.0%)
      • Mental disorders (7.7%)
    • Approximately 90% of disabilities are caused by illnesses rather than accidents.

    * This category includes claims caused by neck and back pain; joint, muscle and tendon disorders; foot, ankle and hand disorders, etc.

Few American workers are financially prepared:

How long could you afford to be without a paycheck?

    • Do you save any of your annual income? 48% of U.S. families don’t. 13
    • Retirement savings? One-third of us have none. 1
    • 68% of adult Americans have NO savings earmarked for emergencies. 13
    • 65% of working Americans say they could not cover normal living expenses even for a year if their employment income was lost; 38% could not pay their bills for more than 3 months. 5
    • Nearly nine in ten workers (86%) surveyed believe that people should plan in their 20 s or 30 s in case an income limiting disability should occur;
      • Only half (50%) of all workers have actually planned for this possibility.
      • Fewer than half (46%) have even discussed disability planning. 15

Most American workers incomes are not protected:

    • About 100 million workers are without private disability income insurance. 1
    • 69% of workers in the private sector have no private long-term disability insurance. 1

Think Social Security or Workers’ Compensation will cover it?

    Better do your homework:

    • 65% of initial SSDI claim applications were denied in 2012. 3
    • Can your family live on $1,130 a month? That’s the average monthly benefit paid by Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) at the end of 2012.
      • The average SSDI monthly benefit payment for males was $1,256
      • The average SSDI monthly benefit payment for females was $993 16
    • At the end of 2012:
      • 7.3% of SSDI recipients received less than $500 monthly.
      • 46% received less than $1,000 per month.
      • 93% received less than $2,000 per month. 17
    • Less than 5% of disabling accidents and illnesses are work related. The other 95% are not, meaning Workers’ Compensation doesn’t cover them. 12

    Pharmaceutical Waste

Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products Events

4th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) along with local law enforcement will be hosting another collection event. This event is an opportunity for the public to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

    Date: Saturday April 28, 2012
    Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm PST

Collection sites in your area will be listed on the U.S. DEA National Drug Take Back Initiative web page at http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/index.html in March 2012.

For more information on past DTSC sponsored symposia or PPCP related conferences, please refer to the Archived PPCP Events web page.

What are Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs)?

Pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) comprise a diverse group of chemicals including, but not limited to, prescription and over-the-counter human drugs, veterinary drugs, diagnostic agents, nutritional supplements, and other consumer products such as fragrances, cosmetics, and sun-screen agents. 1,2,3,4 The term PPCPs refers to the products we use for personal health or cosmetic reasons. 2 We swallow them, rub them on to our skin, have them injected or administer them to our pets. We get them with a prescription or purchase them over the counter.

Why is DTSC Interested in PPCPs?

PPCPs are an emerging issue. PPCPs can be introduced into the environment through many routes. 1,3,4 Treated and untreated domestic sewage containing excreted PPCPs and their metabolites following human use represents an important source of these compounds in the environment. Other sources which can potentially introduce PPCPs into the environment include: leaching from landfills following disposal of expired and unused products; disposal of expired and unused PPCPs in the toilet; release of unabsorbed externally applied PPCPs (e.g. lotions) to surface waters from activities such as swimming; excreta from animals including pets and other domestic animals; use of sewage solids and manure for soil amendment and fertilization; and industrial manufacturing waste streams.

How are These Chemicals Affecting the Environment?

The U.S. Geologic Services has reported that PPCPs such as steroids, prescription and nonprescription drugs, antibiotics, hormones, and fragrances have been detected in water samples collected from streams considered susceptible to contamination from various wastewater sources such as those downstream from intense urbanization or livestock. 5 Potential risk to aquatic organisms due to exposure to PPCPs in the environment has been identified as a primary concern given that aquatic organisms may be continually exposed to chemicals, including multi-generational exposures. 2,3 There is also concern for subtle effects on ecological receptors when exposed to low concentrations. For humans, consumption of potable water which may contain trace concentrations (in the part per trillion to part per billion) of various PPCPs has been identified as one of the primary potential routes of exposure. 5 To date, much research has focused on the potential for pathogen resistance to antibiotics and endocrine distribution by natural and synthetic sex steroids. 2,3 At this time, many unknowns remain regarding the potential for adverse effects on ecological receptors and humans from exposure to PPCPs in the environment. As new information becomes available, this will facilitate more detailed evaluations of the potential toxicological significance of the detection of PPCPs in the environment. More about the toxicological issues associated with PPCPs.

What are the Regulatory Issues Associated with Pharmaceutical Management?

For a long time, the regulatory distinction between hazardous waste (as defined in the law and by U.S. EPA and DTSC in regulation) and medical waste (with its own definitions) has hampered a truly environmentally-protective approach to the very complex issues surrounding pharmaceutical management. Only recently have environmental agencies begun to grapple with these issues. There are many levels of this very complex problem that, as a multi-media, multi-disciplinary scientific agency, DTSC intends to explore. More about the regulatory issues around pharmaceutical management.

How Can I Reduce or Prevent Releases of This Waste to the Environment?

Educate ourselves, family members, friends and coworkers about this emerging environmental issue. DTSC created this web page as an information portal on this topic and related subjects.

For most of us, we have been trained to get rid of old or unwanted drugs by flushing them down the toilet. This practice evolved from our desire to keep potentially dangerous drugs out of the hands of others, especially children. However, recent research is showing that this may be the least environmentally friendly method of disposing of old or unwanted drugs. The proper disposal practice may vary depending on county you live in or the wastewater agency that serves your region. Before disposing of old or unwanted drugs, consult your local wastewater agency or household hazardous waste center on the proper disposal practice for your area.

Other actions you might consider to reduce the amount of PPCPs entering the environment are to store your medications properly so they will be useful until their established shelf life. Pay attention to the storage instructions just as you do the dosage instructions.

For old or used pharmaceuticals, currently there is not a best pollution prevention alternative, elimination or substitution. Practice Greenhealth has a web page with information regarding pharmaceutical wastes from health care facilities.

    Other DTSC Associated Activities

The Office of Pollution Prevention and Technology Development (OPPTD) is preparing the first SB14 Assessment Report on the pharmaceutical industries’ efforts to reduce hazardous waste. The pharmaceutical industry assessment report will profile each of the 27 California facilities captured by SB14 and listed under Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) 2833, 2834, 2835, and 2836. Each profile will contain individual facility site information, its major waste stream reduction accomplishments from 1999 to 2002 and their projections for further reducing these major waste streams from 2003 to 2006. More about the SB 14 pharmaceutical industry assessment.

Dish Network DVR – HD – Receiver Reviews

All Dish Network receivers carry the Dish Network Brand. There are no other manufacturers of Dish Network Receivers. There are two types of Dish Network receivers. Legacy and Dish Pro. In 2002 Dish Network debut a new method of transferring signals from the satellite dish to the receivers. This new technology is call Dish Pro. Legacy receivers are not able to connect to a Dish Pro LNB without the use an adapter. The receivers on the left are all Dish Pro compatible receivers.

Before you select a receiver, you should know the features available. Understanding the various features will greatly increase your chance of getting the right system to meet your needs

    Dish Network Receiver Features:

All Dish network receivers provide the same basic function of letting you watch satellite TV programming from Dish Network. They all have remote controls, favorite list and the ability to connect to a home theater system

If you are only interested in a basic system, then any receiver will meet your needs. Here are some of the more advanced features of Dish Network Receivers.

MPEG4. Dish Network is moving toward the next generation of Satellite Television with their new line of MPEG4 Compatible Satellite Receivers. MPEG4 provides improved signal management and will have a major effect on signal piracy. Read more information about MPEG4.

HDTV. High Definition Television is a digital television format, which combines high-resolution video and theater like sound to create a movie theater quality TV viewing experience. You must have a HDTV television and an oval dish to receive HDTV programming from DirecTV

DVR or PVR. Personal Video Recorder or more commonly called now a DVR, digital video recorder has a computer style 80 hard drive for digitally recording satellite television programs. Most Dish Network receivers can record up to 100 hours of television programming.

Dual Tuner DVR: A dual tuner DVR allows you to record one channel while at the same time recording a different channel. You can also record two shows at the same time.

Dual Tuners for Two TV’s: Dish Network has incorporated the function of two receives into one box. The Dish Network 322, Vip422, DVR 522, DVR 942, DVR 625, DVR HDTV 622 receivers are designed to provide independent viewing on two televisions from one box.

UHF remote: An UHF or radio remote control will operate a receiver from another room. The standard IR (Infra Red) remote found all all televisions and VCRS needs to be pointed at the unit to work.

UHF remotes do not require line of sight to operate. They can control a satellite system from another room or in the same room if you wish to locate the satellite receiver out of site.
Some receivers have this function built in and others use an external box to receive the UHF signals and then pass the signals through a small cable that plugs into the back of the receiver. For Dish Network satellite receivers that do not come a UHF remote you can purchase a UHF upgrade remote kit.

The effective range of a UHF remote depends on the materials used to build the home. In a standard wood framed home with sheet rock walls, a UHF remote should operate just fine through up to one floor and a couple walls. A UHF remote located in a 3rd floor room on one end of the home will have a hard time reaching a receiver on the 1st floor on the other end of the home. If you have a large home, heavy masonry construction, steel framing,or thermo-radiate heat consult with a local technician before deciding on using UHF remotes.

Name Based Recording: NBR allows you to select a show to be recording and not a Channel /Time scenario. This allows the DVR to adjust the recording date and time of a television show, when the show moves to another day and(or) time. This does not mean that the DVR knows the game is running late and adjust. NBR is controlled by the on-screen programming guide. If the guide is updated, so the DVR recording profile. For more information on NBR, go here (pdf) NBR can be found on the 625 and 622 models.

DISH Comm allows for all receiver with DISH Comm to share a phone line by communicating through the phone lines. As long as one DISH Comm receiver is connected to a phone jack, all other DISH Comm compatible receivers can pass on PPV information and communicate with Dish Network for programming changes and updates.

Acute and Chronic Cough Causes, Symptoms & Home Remedies #passages #treatment

    Cough Facts

    • A cough is an action the body takes to get rid of substances that are irritating to the air passages, which carry the air a person breathes in from the nose and mouth to the lungs .
    • A cough occurs when cells along the air passages get irritated and trigger a chain of events.
    • The result is air in the lungs is forced out under high pressure.
    • A person can choose to cough (a voluntary process), or the body may cough on its own (an involuntary process).

    What Makes You Cough?

Acute coughs can be divided into infectious (caused by an infection) and noninfectious causes.

The easiest way to simplify the causes of chronic cough is to divide them into their locations with respect to the lungs. The categories are environmental irritants, conditions within the lungs, conditions along the passages that transmit air from the lungs to the environment, conditions within the chest cavity but outside of the lungs, and digestive causes.

    What Causes a Cough?

Patient Comment Read 1 Comment Share Your Story

    • Any environmental substance that irritates the air passages or the lungs is capable of producing a chronic cough with continued exposure. Cigarette smoke is the most common cause of chronic cough. Other cough-producing irritants include dusts, pollens, pet dander, particulate matter, industrial chemicals and pollution, cigar and pipe smoke, and low environmental humidity.
    • Within the lungs both common and uncommon conditions cause chronic cough. Common causes include asthma, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis. Less common causes of lung-induced chronic cough include cancer, sarcoidosis, diseases of the lung tissue, and congestive heart failure with chronic fluid build-up in the lungs.
    • The passages that connect the lungs to the external environment are known as the upper respiratory tract. Chronic sinus infections, chronic postnasal drip, diseases of the external ear, infections of the throat, and use of ACE inhibitor medications for high blood pressure have all been implicated in chronic cough.
    • In addition to disease processes within the lung and air passages, diseases elsewhere within the chest cavity may also be responsible for chronic cough. Conditions within the chest known to cause chronic cough include cancer, unusual growth of a lymph node, and an abnormal enlargement of the aorta, the main blood vessel leaving the heart.
    • An often-overlooked cause of the chronic cough is gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). GERD occurs when acid from the stomach travels up the esophagus. This abnormal condition can cause irritation of the esophagus and larynx resulting in the reflex production of a cough.

I m just wondering if you have any idea on what

10 Quick Fixes to Reduce Morning Puffy Eyes

There are a variety of different reasons why you get those ugly swollen puffy bags under your eyes. It can be something that you can t control like aging and genetics, or due to bad lifestyle habits such as smoking, overworking your eyes for prolonged periods of time (in front of the computer and reading), stress and not to mention insufficient sleep.

Having too much salt in your diet, excessive alcohol drinking and hormonal changes during menstruation can also contribute to prominent under eye bags. All of these things can make you retain water around the thin skin below your eyes, causing them to really puff up like little pillows, especially in the morning.

If your under eye bags are really bad and you re losing sleep over them, my best advice is to have them removed surgically through a procedure called blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty not only removes excess fat and skin around the eyes to get rid of eye bags permanently, but also improves saggy or droopy upper and lower eyelids. Botox are great for wrinkles and fine lines, but it won t help eye bags and can actually make them worse.

There are, of course, a few no- surgery- no- pain home remedies that you can use to temporarily tighten the skin around and underneath your eyes so as to naturally reduce the appearance of under eye bags.

How to Remove Morning Puffy Swollen Bags Under the Eyes Quickly?

    1. The best thing you can do to reduce puffy eye bags in the morning is to splash your face with cold water after waking up as it stimulates circulation and help your body get rids of toxins.

Then lightly massage or gently tap the puffy areas on your upper and lower eyelids with fingertips to disperse trapped fluids under your eyes.

    2. To avoid waking up with puffy swollen eyes, try not to drink too much water before bedtime and sleep with your head slightly elevated on a pillow. If you lie flat during sleep, fluids can accumulate around your eyes, giving them a puffy swollen appearance.

Remember what I said earlier about salt and water retention? So go easy on foods and snacks that contain significant amounts of MSG (monosodium glutamate; also disguised as hydrolyzed soy protein) such as canned soups, instant ramen, savory biscuits and potato chips. I d also suggest you avoid eating heavily salted, MSG- laden Chinese food at dinner as it can cause you to wake up with puffy swollen eyes the next morning.

    3. One simple yet highly effective home remedy that is widely popular among many natural beauty enthusiasts is to apply cold thin cucumber slices over closed eyes for about 10- 15 minutes.

Chilled cucumbers work wonders for puffy eyes because they act as a cold compress to constrict the blood vessels under your skin and reduce swelling while cooling the skin around your eyes.

    4. Raw potato slices and apple slices can also be used in the same way to relieve swollen eyelids and swelling under eyes.

    5. If you don t have any of the kitchen ingredients mentioned, tea bags will also do the trick. The tannin found in the tea may help temporary tighten the skin taut under your eyes and reduce the puffiness.

I personally prefer to use organic green tea bags for swollen- looking eyes as they contain epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a major polyphenol that has potent anti- inflammatory action on the skin. Chamomile tea and chrysanthemum tea are also great for treating puffy eyes.

Soak 2 tea bags in hot water for about 30 seconds. Then cool them in your refrigerator for 20 minutes or so. If you re super impatient like me, toss them right in the freezer.

Lay down with your head elevated and place frozen or chilled tea bags on your eyes for about 5 minutes.

    6. Another natural way to treat under eye puffiness and tighten swollen eyelids is to apply egg whites. It s a good idea to add 1- 2 drops witch hazel to an white egg (beaten until stiff) to prevent it from drying out too rapidly.

    7. If you love to pamper your eyes with something little more relaxing, try this rosemary anti- puffy eyes home remedy. Rosemary herb is especially good for soothing swollen tired eyes since it helps reduce puffiness and dark circles under eyes while fighting fine lines and wrinkles.

Place 1 organic green tea bag in a cup and fill it with hot water. Leave to cool for a few minutes and then stir in the juice of 1 orange and 1 teaspoon manuka honey. Next, add 1 sprig of finely chopped rosemary and mix well. Pour tea mixture into a small ice cube tray and pop it in your freezer.

Once frozen, wrap a few ice cubes with a slightly damp small face cloth. Hold it under your eyes for 5 minutes and remove. Repeat several times to reduce fluid retention and swelling around your eyes.

    8. For a super easy quick fix to reduce bags under eyes temporarily and keep the swelling down, place a chilled metal spoon over each closed eye for a few minutes or until the spoon loses its chill.

    9. The skin around your eyes is very delicate and thinner than elsewhere on your face so use a good eye cream daily to moisturize, firm and prevent baggy eyes in the morning. If you also have dark circles under your eyes, look for an eye cream that has botanical skin lighteners such as licorice and kojic acid. Try Cosmedicine Eye Specialist Essential Moisture Treatment with licorice extract.

You can also use Vitamin E oil and lightly massage the oil around your eyes at night. Some people say dabbing pure castor oil along the eyelids not only removes puffiness but also make their lashes grow longer and thicker.

    10. If you like something a little more fancy than spoons and eye creams, my suggestion is use an eye rollerball. There are various makes available in the market in different brands such as Clinique, Garnier, Loreal and Simple. Each has a rollerball end to massage the eye area while moisturizing. I keep my anti- puff eye roll- on in the fridge so that it s really cold. It instantly soothes, relaxes and invigorates tired eyes.

    Understanding Minimally Invasive Procedures

Minimally invasive procedures are those that require little or no downtime. The Williams Rejuva Center offers a number of minimally invasive procedures including BOTOX®. Restylane. Juvederm, Sculprta, Radiesse. medicated skin creams, medical facial peels, laser treatments, and skin rejuvenation programs .

While BOTOX® Cosmetic act to relax the muscles and smooth lines, Juvederm. Restylane and Radiesse act to plump up or fill in lines. Medicated creams, medical facial peels, and Lite Touch laser treatments are all scientifically proven to stimulate collagen production. As we age, we lose collagen, so why not stimulate it!

BOTOX® Cosmetic and the new state-of-the-art dermal fillers, such as Restylane and Radiesse. have transformed the war against wrinkles. It s all about technique. They are used in creative ways to compliment each other. BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to minimize wrinkles in the forehead, around the eyes, upper lips and mouth. Restylane and Radiesse are used to restore a more youthful appearance by enhancing the size and shape of your lip and by countering the downward sagging that occurs with aging. These products are combined for a nonsurgical lift that is ideal for patients who want a viable and safe alternative to surgery.

Medicated skin creams that contain Trentenoin (Retin-A) are scientifically proven to stimulate collagen production. The Williams Rejuva Center makes these creams available to our patients. We have found that, in the past, many patients have not been properly instructed on the use of these medicated creams. Our highly trained Cosmetic Nurse Specialists are here to teach you how to apply these creams to obtain their maximum benefits. Dr. Edwin Williams feels that most patients benefit from Tretinoin, and has formulated this ingredient into products with a creamier less irritating base. These products stimulate collagen, lighten brown spots, and are to be used in conjunction with the cleansers and moisturizers that are recommended by your esthetician. If you are not currently working with an esthetician, the Cosmetic Nurse Specialist would be happy to refer you to someone.

Medical facial peels are also proven to stimulate collagen. Increased collagen production helps tighten the skin and smooth out lines. The surface layer of old skin peels off and a new layer of skin is revealed. Then, medicated creams and moisturizers are able to penetrate the new cells more effectively. These peels are also effective for pigmentation irregularities and help to even out skin tone. These peels usually require a 3 day recovery period.

Lite Touch laser treatments also stimulate collagen and are effective in the treatment of rosacea and spider veins. The Willliams Rejuva Center s laser was scientifically proven to stimulate the production of collagen in a study conducted by Dr. Edwin Williams, the findings of his study were published in the Facial Plastic Surgery Archives magazine in 2001. These laser treatments will affect the color, texture, and tone of your skin, giving you a brighter more youthful look.

The Williams Rejuva Center s 6-month skin rejuvenation program incorporates treatments that stimulate collagen, improve hyper pigmentation problems (brown spots), and erase redness or spider veins. It improves skin texture, tone and color. This program offers two medicated peels, four Lite Touch laser treatments, medicated creams, and a basic skin care regime to maintain your beautiful results. The Williams Rejuva Center also offers a maintenance package of four full face smoothbeam laser treatments for after the 6 month program, please feel free to call the Williams Rejuva Center for more information.
