On Holiday Group enters administration

Bed bank and online retailer On Holiday Group has entered administration with forward bookings worth £19 million.

Discussions with another bed bank to take on On Holiday Group’s bookings broke down last night and staff were due to be informed this morning that the business was to close.

Steve Endacott, founder of the On Holiday Group, said the hoped-for deal with another bed bank “would have minimised disruption to customers and On Holiday Group’s travel agency partners”.

But he added: “However, we are saddened to report that only one bed bank was willing to complete a deal to help their travel agency partners.

“Unfortunately, the deal floundered last night because of deliberate and inaccurate leaks to the Spanish press along with legal complexities relating to the client account.”

The collapse of On Holiday Group is expected to leave its creditors, primarily overseas hotels, with unpaid debts of at least £7 million.

Endacott said monies received from agents were being held in ring-fenced client accounts and would be returned in the next few days.

However, clients will have to pay their bills in-resort and claim refunds from agents.

“I am absolutely gutted and deeply sorry to have to have to tell 65 people that they will lose their jobs, unless the administrator can find a buyer willing to take them on in the next few weeks,” said Endacott.

On Holiday Group’s trading partner Euro Rooms Direct has also stopped taking forward bookings.

Endacott’s other investments, including Holiday Taxis, Rock Insurance, CWT Digital, Internet Travel and Luggage Mule, are not affected.

One of the pioneering dynamic packaging specialists of the last decade, On Holiday Group was set up in 2003 by Endacott, previously Airtours commercial director and MyTravel tour operations managing director.

The group of businesses included hotel booking website Holiday Nights, as well as Fresh Holidays, 118 Travel, flightandhotel.co.uk and PortAventura Holidays. It also operated Spanish hotel booking site reserva123.com.

The company was a member of the Midcounties Co-operative consortium and operated under its Atol licence, and these websites continue to trade.

On Holiday Group struck a deal with Midcounties in 2012 to create dynamic packaging brand Co-op Recommends offering exclusive deals.

Definition and Nature of the Work

Athletic coaches instruct and work with athletes to prepare them for competition. Coaches help athletes to play their best individually or as a team in sports such as football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, rowing, tennis, and golf. They are experts on the rules, strategies, and techniques of their sports. Coaches must also know about sports equipment, physical fitness, and safety.

Coaches work in professional sports, college sports, and secondary school sports. Some coaches work individually with promising students at camps, clubs, and clinics designed specifically for teaching. Most coaches work in middle schools and high schools as part-time and full-time faculty members.

The first task for most coaches is to pick the players for a team. Selecting players involves knowing how to put together a balanced team, how to recognize potential athletic ability, and how to find and attract good players. Coaches at all levels look for players by scouting or sending out scouts to watch players on other teams. For instance, college scouts look for good high school players who may want to participate in college sports; professional team scouts look for promising college players.

After a team is formed, coaches help the athletes work out plays and strategies that suit their talents. Coaches must also prepare players mentally for competition, since it is important for athletes to have the right frame of mind so they can perform to the best of their abilities.

Middle school and high school coaches are often responsible for many administrative tasks. They may maintain supplies and equipment, reserve playing facilities, and schedule practices. In addition school athletic coaches must keep track of whether their players’ grades are high enough to make them eligible for school teams. Some high school coaches have assistants and student managers to help with these duties.

Professional teams and many college teams are run by large staffs that may include managers, trainers, and secretaries. Professional and college team coaches work for profit-making organizations and are consequently under pressure to deliver winning teams that draw paying fans to the games. The main responsibility of all coaches, however, is to their players. They must put the players first, a task that involves, for instance, being able to determine when a fatigued player should be removed from a game or how much time an injured player needs to recover. A team physician often helps with these decisions. Coaches help players perfect their abilities, keep them fit to compete, and teach them to put forth their best effort under the pressure of competitive play.

Education and Training Requirements

A bachelor’s degree is usually the minimum requirement for coaches who work in school systems; however, many schools only hire coaches with a master’s degree. Some high schools also require their coaches to be state certified. Prospective athletic coaches should check the certification requirements in their state before making decisions that affect their education. Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is always helpful. Schools and colleges usually prefer to hire coaches who have varsity or professional playing experience. The most important qualifications, though, are a tremendous sense of motivation and a love of the game.

A coach must have good communication and supervisory skills, the ability to make decisions under pressure, maturity, and self-confidence. Many years of college coaching are necessary to coach a professional team.

Getting the Job

For a coaching position at a school, interested individuals should apply to the school district of their choice. At the middle school or high school level coaches may be required to work as teachers of physical education or another subject. Candidates for a position as an instructional coach in a country club, tennis club, camp, or gym should apply directly to facilities of this type. Professional coaches are usually recruited by team managers and owners.

Advancement Possibilities and Employment Outlook

Coaches who start by coaching small high school or college teams may move on to schools with larger, more well-known athletic departments. Advancement ultimately depends on the success of the team, which among other factors is influenced by the coach’s educational background and ability to deal with players on a personal level. Coaches in some sports go into business for themselves by buying and operating a sports club.

The employment outlook for athletic coaches is expected to grow as fast as the average through the year 2014. Sports of all kinds are popular throughout the nation, and many new school and professional teams are being formed; however, competition for some coaching positions especially those at the university level will be intense because those openings occur only as a result of coaches retiring or being let go.

Working Conditions

Coaching is a high-pressure job that offers little security. The fans, the school administration, or the club owners want winning teams and may blame the coach if the team loses. Coaches must work hard to develop good teams if they want to keep their jobs. Prospective athletic coaches can expect to spend a considerable amount of time on the road going to games and often have to spend nights and weekends on the job. The best coaches are those who think that the excitement of the games and the opportunity to work in sports is worth all of the hard work and long hours.

“Cloud” Computing and Thin Client Solutions

As we find ourselves in an increasingly fast-paced and mobile world, our dependency on technology to provide real-time access to information increases as well. One of the most utilitarian advancements of technology towards this end has been the advent of thin client or ‘Cloud’ based computing systems.

In a nutshell: A thin client solution allows a computing device (PC, IPad, IPhone, Android device – aka the ‘client’) to ‘dial in’ to the desktop of another computer (aka the ‘server’). The user can then pass keystrokes and mouse clicks to the desktop of that computer, and receive screen shots of what the resulting screen looks like on the other computer (server) to their local computing device (client). It is called ‘thin’ client because you wind up passing very little data over the internet, just screen shots, mouse clicks and keyboard clicks.

The term ‘Cloud Computing’ appeared around 2006, and encapsulates the notion of thin client computing with the ability to securely store your data ‘somewhere else’. There are a variety of solutions available to your agency that provide thin client access to your local software, and provide automated methods to back up your local data to a secure, offsite location.

Remote Desktop (aka Terminal Services) is probably the best solution thin client solution for multiple remote users to access your local data for long periods of time. It is also the most expensive requiring the services of a local hardware technician, a Server operating system (Windows Server 2003, 2008, etc. which can cost $800 or more), and Remote Desktop licenses – which run about $80-$100 apiece (although you typically get one license for free). The advantages of using Remote Desktop to dial into a Server based operating system are that it is more secure, less prone to data corruption, and does not require a separate computer for each person logging in.

There are less expensive (even free) solutions for people that need to occasionally dial in to the home office, or dial in one at a time. These solutions all require that there is a separate computer at the home office, for each person dialing in. Some of these solutions can be found at: Logmein.com. GotoMyPC.com. Join.me. and TeamViewer.com. Each product has advantages and disadvantages regarding ease of use, reliability, supported client devices, and features; and there are several factors such as how printing and file transfers are handled between the ‘Free’ and ‘Pro’ versions of each software that must be taken into account. If you are considering one of these less expensive thin client solutions, it might be money well spent to hire a tech for an hour or so to help you sort out your options.

Another aspect to Cloud Based computing is the ability to securely backup your data by copying your files over the internet to a secure facility offsite, thus limiting your liability if your local location burns down, or is involved in a natural disaster. Some companies that offer offsite backup solutions for a small fee are Mozy.com. and Dropbox.com. With a little help from a local tech – you can quickly set one of these programs up, and then have peace of mind that your data is stored securely ‘somewhere else’. Just make sure that your tech sets the program up to send the files over the internet at night, otherwise you will see your daytime internet speeds drop dramatically.

A defined benefit plan promises a specified monthly benefit at retirement. The plan may state this promised benefit as an exact dollar amount, such as $100 per month at retirement. Or, more commonly, it may calculate a benefit through a plan formula that considers such factors as salary and service — for example, 1 percent of average salary for the last 5 years of employment for every year of service with an employer. The benefits in most traditional defined benefit plans are protected, within certain limitations, by federal insurance provided through the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) .

A defined contribution plan, on the other hand, does not promise a specific amount of benefits at retirement. In these plans, the employee or the employer (or both) contribute to the employee’s individual account under the plan, sometimes at a set rate, such as 5 percent of earnings annually. These contributions generally are invested on the employee’s behalf. The employee will ultimately receive the balance in their account, which is based on contributions plus or minus investment gains or losses. The value of the account will fluctuate due to the changes in the value of the investments. Examples of defined contribution plans include 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, employee stock ownership plans, and profit-sharing plans.

A Simplified Employee Pension Plan (SEP) is a relatively uncomplicated retirement savings vehicles. A SEP allows employees to make contributions on a tax-favored basis to individual retirement accounts (IRAs) owned by the employees. SEPs are subject to minimal reporting and disclosure requirements. Under a SEP, an employee must set up an IRA to accept the employer’s contributions. Employers may no longer set up Salary Reduction SEPs. However, employers are permitted to establish SIMPLE IRA plans with salary reduction contributions. If an employer had a salary reduction SEP, the employer may continue to allow salary reduction contributions to the plan.

A Profit Sharing Plan or Stock Bonus Plan is a defined contribution plan under which the plan may provide, or the employer may determine, annually, how much will be contributed to the plan (out of profits or otherwise). The plan contains a formula for allocating to each participant a portion of each annual contribution. A profit sharing plan or stock bonus plan include a 401(k) plan.

A 401(k) Plan is a defined contribution plan that is a cash or deferred arrangement. Employees can elect to defer receiving a portion of their salary which is instead contributed on their behalf, before taxes, to the 401(k) plan. Sometimes the employer may match these contributions. There are special rules governing the operation of a 401(k) plan. For example, there is a dollar limit on the amount an employee may elect to defer each year. An employer must advise employees of any limits that may apply. Employees who participate in 401(k) plans assume responsibility for their retirement income by contributing part of their salary and, in many instances, by directing their own investments.

An Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) is a form of defined contribution plan in which the investments are primarily in employer stock.

A Money Purchase Pension Plan is a plan that requires fixed annual contributions from the employer to the employee’s individual account. Because a money purchase pension plan requires these regular contributions, the plan is subject to certain funding and other rules.

A Cash Balance Plan is a defined benefit plan that defines the benefit in terms that are more characteristic of a defined contribution plan. In other words, a cash balance plan defines the promised benefit in terms of a stated account balance. In a typical cash balance plan, a participant’s account is credited each year with a “pay credit” (such as 5 percent of compensation from his or her employer) and an “interest credit” (either a fixed rate or a variable rate that is linked to an index such as the one-year treasury bill rate). Increases and decreases in the value of the plan’s investments do not directly affect the benefit amounts promised to participants. Thus, the investment risks and rewards on plan assets are borne solely by the employer. When a participant becomes entitled to receive benefits under a cash balance plan, the benefits that are received are defined in terms of an account balance. The benefits in most cash balance plans, as in most traditional defined benefit plans, are protected, within certain limitations, by federal insurance provided through the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) .

To receive a Master of Science degree in College Athletic Administration, students must successfully complete 30 semester hours of graduate level coursework with a 3.0 overall GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

PE 510 – Current Issues in College Athletic Administration (3 Semester Hours)

A study of the most recent key issues as identified and continually updated by the NCAA on their website. Recently listed key issues are: academics; commercialism; diversity inclusion; rules enforcement; playing rules; and recruiting.

PE 515 – Sport Communication (3 Semester Hours)

This course is designed to give a broad view of sports communication. Specific topics include: sports communication from the perspective of message producers and recipients; organizational communication and public relations; the influence of sports communication at the local and global level; effective sports communication; academic research and theory of good sports communication; applying sports communication in a practical setting; sport image repair; and press releases and promotional materials.

Notice

All orders to show cause containing an application for the issuance of an Order of Protection will be treated as an emergency and emergency procedures must be followed. The court is required to conduct a hearing before issuance of an order of protection, and the applying party and their attorney, if any, must be present.

Family Protection and Domestic Violence Intervention Act

In accordance with the Family Protection and Domestic violence intervention Act of 1994, an automated statewide registry will be operative effective October 1, 1995. The legislation requires that the registry contain information involving orders of protection and warrants issued statewide in connection with criminal, Family Court and matrimonial cases involving family violence. Effective October 1, 1995, all requests for an order of protection must be submitted with a completed Family Protection Registry information sheet. These forms are available in the matrimonial office, Room 140 in Jamaica.

General Information

Telephone inquiries regarding decisions on motions will no longer be accepted. This information, as in the past, will be published in the New York Law Journal. Counsel may appear personally and obtain the pertinent information required from the computer terminals made available to the public for that purpose. Any Request to expedite the signing of an uncontested Judgment of Divorce must be done by Notice of Motion filed and made returnable in accordance with matrimonial motion rules.

Motions must be filed with the matrimonial office at least 5 working days before the return date.

Effective immediately. the filing of all post-judgment matrimonial motions and orders to show cause must include:
(a) copy of the judgment;
(b) calendar number of the said matrimonial action;
(c) date of the note of issue.

Additionally, all applications for writs of habeas corpus must indicate, below the present index number, the index number of any previously assigned action and the assigned judge, or state that no other matrimonial actions have been filed.

  • About 3 pounds [1.4 kg] of plant foods per day, including:
    • About 1 pound [0.45 kg] of safe starches, such as white rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and taro;
    • About 1 pound [0.45 kg] of sugary in-ground vegetables (such as beets or carrots), fruits, and berries;
    • Low-calorie vegetables to taste, including fermented vegetables and green leafy vegetables.
  • One-half to one pound [0.25 to 0.5 kg] per day of meat or fish, which should include organ meats, and should be drawn primarily from:
    • ruminants (beef, lamb, goat);
    • birds (especially duck and wild or naturally raised birds);
    • Shellfish and freshwater and marine fish.
  • Low omega-6 fats and oils from animal or tropical plant sources, to taste. Good sources include:
    • butter, sour cream, beef tallow, duck fat;
    • coconut milk or oil
    • palm oil, palm kernel oil, olive oil, avocado oil, macadamia nut butter, almond butter, cashew butter
  • Acids to taste, especially citric acid (lemon juice, lime juice, orange juice, grapefruit juice), lactic acid from fermented or pickled vegetables, vinegars, tannic acids from wine, and tomatoes.
  • Broths or stocks made from animal bones and joints.
  • Snacks or desserts from our pleasure foods: fruits and berries, nuts, alcohol, chocolate, cream, and fructose-free sweeteners like dextrose or rice syrup.

By weight, the diet works out to about 3/4 plant foods, 1/4 animal foods. By calories, it works out to about 600 carb calories, primarily from starches; around 300 protein calories; and fats supply a majority (50-60%) of daily calories.

In the shadow of the apple are foods forbidden because of their high toxin content. Notably:

  • Do not eat cereal grains wheat, barley, oats, corn or foods made from them bread, pasta, breakfast cereals, oatmeal. The exception is white rice, which we count among our safe starches. Rice noodles, rice crackers, and the like are fine, as are gluten-free foods made from a mix of rice flour, potato starch, and tapioca starch.
  • Do not eat calorie-rich legumes. Peas and green beans are fine. Soy and peanuts should be absolutely excluded. Beans might be acceptable with suitable preparation, but we recommend avoiding them.
  • Do not eat foods with added sugar or high-fructose corn syrup. Do not drink anything that contains sugar: healthy drinks are water, tea, and coffee.
  • Polyunsaturated fats should be a small fraction of the diet (

4% of total calories). To achieve this, do not eat seed oils such as soybean oil, corn oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, canola oil, or the like.

We highly recommend certain foods for their micronutrients. These include liver, kidney, egg yolks, seaweeds, shellfish, fermented vegetables, and bone broths.

We also recommend augmenting the diet with certain supplements. See our Supplement Recommendations page. These nutrients are deficient in modern diets due to removal of minerals from drinking water by treatment, depletion of minerals from soil by agriculture, or modern lifestyles that deprive us of vitamin D by indoor living.

We recommend tweaking the diet for certain diseases. Neurological disorders often benefit from a diet that is ketogenic; other conditions may benefit from lower carb diets. These variations are discussed in the book:

I read your fascinating book. Seems reasonable to me,
whatever that means.
What about all those doctors: Greger, Fuhrman, Ornish, McDougal Esselstyn, the China Study; They all present scientific papers as proof of: Vegan is best. Whole grains and Beans are the healthiest foods on earth. Animals, Eggs, Milk Products, Saturated fats: The worst foods. I would have liked to have science based comments on that ideology in your book.

I think the benefits of those diets, where they exist, are due to switching from processed foods (sugar, starch, oil, no micronutrition) to natural whole foods. But among natural whole food diets, the vegan/plant-based diets are inferior to PHD.

Medical careers are good paying, fast growing, and in demand. Whether you are a recent graduate or looking for a list of different career choices, you have come to the right place.

The health care professions combine technology and the human touch to address the needs of patients.

All the different medical careers on this site are professional workers, making sure their patients are cared for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The healthcare industry is large, with more than 14 million jobs in the U.S. alone.

But there are many types of health care professions, with varying education requirements.

We will look at medical careers that require 2-year degrees, 4-year degrees, and 7-year degrees on this site.

I created a list of medical careers when I considered a career in health care.

Each of the health care professions require a minimum of an post-secondary degree.

Each also has the ability for further educational opportunities, including receiving a master’s degree, which was important to me for future growth in the position.

They are also good paying medical careers.

I also created a master list of medical careers. which has more than 40 health care professions.

Although you can get started in the health sector in less than 6 months, you will be better served to identify which medical career is right for me.

‘What medical career is right for me?’

A career in the medical field provides many incentives. It is important to identify traits about yourself, which I’ll try to help you do over the next few paragraphs.

Are you a hermit?

You have to interact with people and help them on a daily basis. But don’t let that scare you, especially if you are not social by nature.

Many fields in medicine — such as a laboratory technologist — don’t require patient interaction.

Interaction is an important trait you need to consider for your career. You will want to ask yourself — am I a hermit? am I social? am I somewhere between these two extremes.

For example, I like time alone to research and make decisions, but I also like interaction.

I knew a position such as a lab tech would not suit me because I’d drive myself crazy being left by myself. At the same time, I knew a position as a nurse would not suit me. either, because of the massive amount of patient interaction.

This is the thought process you should consider. You need to learn about yourself when picking a medical career.

One solution is to talk to a career counselor, who may be able to suggest you take a personality test like the Myers-Briggs.

This test will offer insight about yourself and provide different career choices.

Also, your workplace location will be influenced by the medical career you choose.

Many in the health sector work in hospitals, physician offices, cancer centers, substance abuse facilities, laboratories, and research facilities.

How secure is my job?

Job security can be important. We want to know the career path we are picking will have jobs in it in the future.

With health care professions, that is the case. Medicine relies on people needing care — and there’s no shortage.

With baby boomers starting to reach retirement age, there will be an increased need for health workers. Also, in many cities the major employer is the hospital. This is important for three reasons.

Stability: The likability of the hospital closing up shop is non-existent.

Relocation: You can move to just about any state, get licensed, and be able to find a job easily.

Advancement: At a large organization such as a hospital, you have many different medical careers that you could experience and have the opportunity to be hired for.

Job outlook and the BLS

Related to security is job outlook. The Bureau of Labor Statistics offers data on job outlook. (Note: This data was from 2013 when this was written.)

The data can be misleading, especially when you look at rate of growth. An example is nuclear medicine technologists.

The BLS notes that there will be a need for 20 percent more nuclear medicine technicians by 2020. That sounds like a lot, but it is not and you have to look at the data closer.

In 2013, there are 16,900 technicians who handle nuclear medicine procedures. Twenty percent of 16,900 is 3,400.

There will be less than 3,500 more of these technicians needed. Despite 20 percent growth, this likability of finding a job in this position after graduation may be tough.

Compare that to nursing. The BLS notes there will be a need for 20 percent more registered nurses by 2020.

Currently, there are 2,737,400 RNs. Twenty-six percent of this is 711,900. Become a nurse and you won’t have a problem finding a job.

The point: Percentages can be misleading. Please do yourself a favor and check expected growth in numbers, not percentages.

High-paying medical careers

You want to get paid, I’m sure. Medical careers pay well, but you should not just look at dollar signs.

From a money standpoint, a radiation technologist and nuclear medicine technician have the highest median pay — 74,980 and $68,560, respectively — and low education requirements.

But both are small job markets, with less than 4,000 new expected job openings until 2020. Good pay is only available if you can find a job.

Sooner or later you will get bored with your job — whether you are a pediatric nurse or a radiologic technologist. What do you do then?

This is why advancement is important. With many different medical careers, you can advance into management or continue your education and upgrade into a different position .

For example: A nursing career is many-fold. A nurse can work in hospitals, clinics, or schools. and every location will be different.

At a hospital, there are different nursing specialties, such as emergency nursing or surgical nursing. This kind of variety will make sure you do not get bored.

It is important to look forward in your career. Sure, you may want to become an entry-level nurse today. but five or 10 years what kind of senior-level nursing jobs could you get? This brings us to education …

Medical careers require continuing education, which includes classes in your field.

But you may find that an entry-level medical career such as nursing offers the opportunity for advanced practices and responsibilities with a little more education.

You will want to find out the minimum education requirements and what kind of jobs the maximum education in the field will get you.

For example: The minimum requirement to be a CNA — a certified nursing assistant — is a certification and takes about 6 months to get. This job does not pay well.

Go to school for a year and you could be a LPN — a limited practical nurse. Two years of schooling is what is required to be an RN — a registered nurse.

As an RN, you could complete an RN to bachelor’s of science in nursing degree. which qualifies you for a management role.

But you could also go for another two years, receive a master’s degree, and become a nursing practitioner, which serves as a primary care provider in rural, under-served areas.

The point: You should check what advancement opportunities are available to you within a career field — even if it requires more education.

Even so, a public administration degree will help you to develop career skills like managing, budgeting and conducting research, which you can use in other fields like business. If you choose to study public administration, your curriculum will draw from related disciplines including political science, business management and administrative law.

Degrees

It takes at least four years of school in order to become a public administrator, but it could take up to eight years. To obtain an advanced position in public administration, you generally will need to earn a bachelor s degree, which takes about four years, and a master s degree, which takes two to three more years of graduate school. In addition, you may need at least one year of professional experience to be admitted into a public administration graduate program.

Bachelor s Degree in Public Administration

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) focuses more on liberal arts, so you can explore other academic areas in addition to public administration. The BA is preferable if you want to go on to graduate school in the future.

A Bachelor of Science (BS) has more science and mathematics courses, which will give you a technical background. The BS is preferable if you want to get an entry-level job in public administration.

  • Length of study: 4 years (120-130 hours)
  • Coursework: economics, government, leadership, law, research design, environmental planning, nonprofit management, public health policy
  • Employment prospects: Most careers in public administration require a graduate degree. But a bachelor s degree can qualify you for entry-level positions as a policy research associate or administrative assistant at a government agency.

Master s Degree in Public Administration

A master s degree in public administration is a graduate-level degree that will greatly increase your job prospects in the field. For most public administration careers, you will not need to continue your education beyond a masters degree.

Master of Public Administration (MPA) programs focus on developing organizational management skills. This option is the best choice if you want to manage a government or a nonprofit organization.

Master of Public Policy (MPP) programs train students to research, analyze data and make policy recommendations. This option is best if you want to research for nonprofit or government organizations.

Master of Public Affairs (MPAFF) programs are similar to the MPA and MPP programs. Some programs focus more on management while others are more research-oriented.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs train students in business skills such as finance, accounting, management and human resources. This option is best if you want to pursue a business career in the private sector.

  • Length of study: 2-3 years (48-72 credit hours)
  • Coursework: management, leadership, statistics, economics, finance; some programs require an internship with a government agency or nonprofit organization

Doctoral Degree in Public Administration

Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) programs are less common than PhD programs. They train students in the practical application of theory and research. If you plan to pursue a management career, a DPA is the best option.

Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF)

      The Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) program uses Tax Increment Financing (TIF) revenues to help owners of commercial and industrial properties within specific TIF districts to repair or remodel their facilities for their own business or on behalf of tenants.

SBIF Grants/Completed Projects Database

Program participants can receive matching grants to cover up to half the cost of remodeling work, with a maximum grant amount of $150,000. The grant does not have to be repaid.

Objective
To help local industrial companies expand and create employment oportunties for Chicago residents.

Qualifications and Restrictions
Expenses eligible for a SBIF grant include:

  • New windows, floors or roof
  • Sign removal and replacement

TNC RNs will be selected from the VA and from the private sector. TNC RNs will be assigned to interested facilities throughout VHA. Assignment lengths will be flexible to meet facilities’ varying needs. RNs selected for the program will be appointed as intermittent nurses. These intermittent nurses will be paid for the time they work and receive travel, lodging, meals and incidental expenses competitive with the private sector and in accordance with VA regulations. Nurses new to VA will receive training on the special needs of Veterans, VA procedures and policies, the computerized patient record system, bar coded medication administration, emergency response training/certification, and the VA health care system in general.

On Holiday Group enters administration

Bed bank and online retailer On Holiday Group has entered administration with forward bookings worth £19 million.

Discussions with another bed bank to take on On Holiday Group’s bookings broke down last night and staff were due to be informed this morning that the business was to close.

Steve Endacott, founder of the On Holiday Group, said the hoped-for deal with another bed bank “would have minimised disruption to customers and On Holiday Group’s travel agency partners”.

But he added: “However, we are saddened to report that only one bed bank was willing to complete a deal to help their travel agency partners.

“Unfortunately, the deal floundered last night because of deliberate and inaccurate leaks to the Spanish press along with legal complexities relating to the client account.”

The collapse of On Holiday Group is expected to leave its creditors, primarily overseas hotels, with unpaid debts of at least £7 million.

Endacott said monies received from agents were being held in ring-fenced client accounts and would be returned in the next few days.

However, clients will have to pay their bills in-resort and claim refunds from agents.

“I am absolutely gutted and deeply sorry to have to have to tell 65 people that they will lose their jobs, unless the administrator can find a buyer willing to take them on in the next few weeks,” said Endacott.

On Holiday Group’s trading partner Euro Rooms Direct has also stopped taking forward bookings.

Endacott’s other investments, including Holiday Taxis, Rock Insurance, CWT Digital, Internet Travel and Luggage Mule, are not affected.

One of the pioneering dynamic packaging specialists of the last decade, On Holiday Group was set up in 2003 by Endacott, previously Airtours commercial director and MyTravel tour operations managing director.

The group of businesses included hotel booking website Holiday Nights, as well as Fresh Holidays, 118 Travel, flightandhotel.co.uk and PortAventura Holidays. It also operated Spanish hotel booking site reserva123.com.

The company was a member of the Midcounties Co-operative consortium and operated under its Atol licence, and these websites continue to trade.

On Holiday Group struck a deal with Midcounties in 2012 to create dynamic packaging brand Co-op Recommends offering exclusive deals.

Overdue Payments & Example Letters

Many businesses dread dealing with customers who have outstanding accounts or unpaid bills. Sometimes these matters can be unavoidable, however, so it pays to have a clear system in place to deal with these situations. There are also steps that can be taken from the very beginning of a business transaction to avoid late payment. These include:

  • agreeing to the price at the quoting stage, including any interest or charges for late payment,
  • making sure payment terms are clear, and potentially offering first time or one off clients a shorter payment term,
  • conducting credit checks if necessary,
  • always invoicing on time, and
  • following up invoices with statements.

To avoid spending valuable time and effort chasing late payments you should consider having collection letter templates ready to use and a timing process for sending each one already in place.

As well as having a set policy in place it is also important to document everything, for example, when and what letters are sent, or outcomes of any phone conversations with the customer. These may become legal records later if you have to take action with a collection agency or solicitor.

These letters should range from a friendly reminder to a final notice:

1st letter short and friendly reminder, can be included on statement page
2nd letter follow up to reminder, more direct and less cordial than the first
3rd letter demand payment within 7 days or threaten legal action
4th letter demand payment and state legal proceedings will be started by a certain date.

Keep in mind that the goal of these letters should be to retain customer goodwill as well as to encourage prompt payment.

If you do end up having to send a final notice to a client it is important that you don t make empty threats but be prepared to follow through with collection measures. Often a firm letter on solicitors letterhead will get more immediate results.

The American Academy of Professional Coders found in its 2011 National Salary Survey that 44% of certified medical coders in the medical billing profession earn between $35,000 and $50,000 per year. These figures are matched by the findings of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which classifies medical biller and medical coders as Health Information Technicians.

With the dynamic changes in healthcare that are occurring every day, the demand for medical billers and medical coders is expected only to increase. In October 2013, a new diagnosis and procedure coding system will be put in place across the industry, providing thousands of new codes used to describe medical conditions and treatments. As the industry prepares for the implementation of ICD-10. well-trained professionals are earning the respect and salary they deserve.

Medical coding and medical billing training requires a thorough understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and the art and science of medicine. This understanding is coupled with a background in the business of medicine. Medical coders and medical billers deal adhere to professional guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the American Medical Association, professional specialty organizations, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and contractual obligations with private third party payers.

Entry level positions often require formal training to ensure a baseline understanding of the complexities that make up the medical field. The Bureau of Labor Statistics found in September 2010 that a total of 176,090 people were employed in medical billing and coding. Of those, the majority were employed in inpatient hospitals. Inpatient medical coding follows different procedures than outpatient medical billing. Hospital coders often have a degree in Health Information Management, which encompasses medical record technology and maintenance, as well as medical coding and billing. Due to the complexity of inpatient billing administration, inpatient hospital coders usually earn above the mean income of coders in other situations.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that 41,450 medical billers were employed in physician offices. A physician medical practice can range from one doctor treating a small number of patients, to a large, cross-specialty practice made up of many doctors, nurse practitioners, assistants, therapists, technicians, and support staff. The billing office is where all the services provided by these practices are translated into industry-standard code, and the information is transmitted to insurance companies and government entities for reimbursement.

Because of the wide disparity between physician office sizes and resources, the average salary of $29,030 may seem low, but it accounts for small, general practices in rural areas, as well as large practices in metropolitan markets. Anecdotal evidence shows that the medical biller is considered one of the top tier professionals within the physician office setting.

Medical coders and medical billers are also employed in nursing care facilities, short-term rehabilitative hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, physical therapy clinics, nutrition clinics, and charitable, non-profit healthcare clinics. Wherever medical services are performed, those services are translated into code. Healthcare is a growing and dynamic industry that affects millions of lives every day.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services projects that in 2020, $46 billion will be spent on national healthcare. The vast majority of this money will be spent by third party payers, with the bills being submitted in code. The economics of healthcare delivery and accessibility relies on properly trained medical coders and medical billers who have a solid foundation on the precepts and principles of Common Procedural Terminology (CPT codes). the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9 and, in October 2013, ICD-10 ), and the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS).

Knowing how these various coding methodologies are used to gain appropriate and justifiable reimbursement for medically necessary services is the specialty of medical coders and medical billers. The right education will provide the foundation of a successful career in a field that changes on a regular basis. With ongoing government mandates beyond those publicized in the media, the employment opportunities for skilled medical billers and coders can only increase. In January 2012, the entire industry converted its format for electronically submitted healthcare claims. While most news media did not cover the 5010 conversion, medical billers and coders made the transition smoothly due to their training and adaptability.

As the healthcare industry changes, trained, professional medical billers and medical coders will meet the challenges, keeping the healthcare industry running and providing necessary services to those who need it.

The MBA Degree

New to Maryland Titling and Registering Your Vehicle Information #mva, #motor

As a new resident of Maryland you must register your vehicle within 60 days of moving to Maryland. If you delay beyond 60 days, you will not be eligible for a tax credit for any titling tax paid in another state, and you may be subject to a citation for an out of state registration.

Please Note: If an owner of a vehicle originally titled in Maryland obtains a title for the vehicle in another state in the same name, and returns to Maryland, it may be registered by surrendering the foreign title and securing a Duplicate Maryland Title. There is a fee for a duplicate title.

Titling Your Vehicle

You can apply for a Maryland title, and registration, in person at any of the MVA’s full service branch offices. You also can mail the documents to the MVA’s Out-of-State Title Unit, 6601 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, MD 21062, or go to an MVA licensed tag and title service where they will assist you in applying.

Typically, you will need to submit the following forms to obtain a title for your vehicle:

  • Proof of ownership – This is the vehicle’s existing title that identifies you as the owner. If there is a lien against your out-of-state title:
    • First, contact the MVA at the Customer Service Center at 1-410-768-7000.
    • If you do not have the title document or certificate, the MVA will provide you with a letter (form #VR-056) to send to your lien holder requesting the title(s) be sent to the MVA. Note: Please have the following information for the letter: Name of vehicle owner, MD address, phone number, VIN number, year, make of vehicle,lien holder’s name, lien holder’s address,lien holder’s fax number, state where currently registered/titled and lien account number.
    • Upon receipt of the title documents(s), the MVA will write or call you to inform you that we have received the title(s). We will inform you of the excise tax due and ask you to send your completed Application for Certificate of Title (form #VR-005), the MD Safety Inspection Certificate, and payment (check or money order made payable to the MVA) to the MVA. The check should include payment for the following:
      • Title fee
      • Fee to record the lien
      • Excise tax and tag fees
  • Application form – The Application for Certificate of Title (form #VR-005) can be used to apply for both the vehicle’s title and registration. Be sure to include your insurance information. Your policy must conform to Maryland’s minimum liability insurance requirements .
  • Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate – This Maryland State Police form certifies that your vehicle meets Maryland safety standards. It is valid for up to 90 days from the date issued.
    • Certificate of Inspection
      A Safety Inspection is required for all used cars, trucks, tractors, trailers, motorcycles, special equipment, and class “B” for hire vehicles being titled and registered in Maryland. They must be inspected by a licensed Maryland inspection station, such as automobile dealers, service stations and specialized automobile service centers. A certificate of inspection issued by the inspection station within the previous 90 days of the vehicle titling must accompany the Application for Title. To avoid delay, compare the vehicle identification number (VIN) entered on the inspection certificate with the VIN on the vehicle plus the vehicle ownership documents to make certain they agree. Altered inspection certificates will not be accepted.

Under certain circumstances, additional information and/or forms may be required:

  • Proof of vehicle’s value – If the vehicle’s value cannot be identified by the MVA, you may need to submit a bill of sale. For leased vehicles, a lease agreement may also be acceptable.
  • Lease agreement and proof of monthly lease payments (leased vehicles only) – If you have paid or are paying excise tax to another state through your lease payments, the documents may be needed to determine the amount of excise tax credit you may receive.
  • Lien information – If you borrowed money to buy the vehicle, lien information may need to be recorded on the application. The MVA form entitled Security Interest Filing (form #VR-217) must be used if a second lien is placed against the title.
  • Lien release – If your title indicates that a lien exists, you must make arrangements with the lien holder to pay off the loan (lien) or the MVA will file the lien against your new title (i.e. transfer the lien).
  • Power of attorney – If someone other than you, the new owner, is signing the titling forms for you, this document is required.

Note that if you also intend to register the vehicle, additional forms are usually needed

Registration requirements vary greatly by the type and intended use of the vehicle. The requirements for most vehicles can be found in Registration – Common Vehicles.

Your title will be mailed to you regardless of how you apply. If you also register the vehicle, your registration card, license plates and expiration stickers can be provided immediately when you apply in person to the MVA; otherwise, these items also will be mailed to you.

Maryland Excise Titling Tax

If the vehicle has been recently purchased, the 6% excise tax is based on the greater of the total purchase price verified by a notarized MVA Bill of Sale (form VR-181). signed by both the buyer(s) and the seller(s) in which the actual price paid for the vehicle is stated or $640. In other cases, the total purchase price or the valuation shown in a national publication of used car values adopted for use by the Administration will be used to establish the tax. There is an addition or subtraction for high or low mileage. On vehicles seven years old and older, the tax is based on the greater of the purchase price or the minimum book value of $640.

Note: As a new resident, to comply with Maryland law and take advantage of a lower excise tax, you must title and register your vehicle within 60 days of declaring residency in Maryland.

For vehicles less than 7 years old (Non-Residents):

  • Vehicle(s) titled in a state with a tax rate equal to or higher than Maryland’s 6% tax rate will cost $100.
  • If the vehicle is registered in a state that imposes no tax, the tax will be assessed at 6% of the value of the vehicle.
  • Vehicles from a state with a lower tax rate than Maryland’s 6% will be taxed at the rate of the difference between the two states. Example: MD 6%, VA 4%, the difference is a 2% tax rate. Minimum tax – $100. When the value of the vehicle is less than $2,000, the 6% rate will apply. Click here for the State Tax Rate Chart .

For a vehicle over 7 years old:

  • Tax is based on the greater of the purchase price or the minimum of $640. The MVA may require you to submit additional documentation to substantiate the purchase price.

For a leased vehicle:

  • Lease agreement and proof of monthly lease payments (leased vehicles only) – If you have paid or are paying excise tax to another state through your lease payments, documentation is needed to determine the amount of excise tax credit you may receive.

Indexing the Data Warehouse

Indexing the data warehouse can reduce the amount of time it takes to see query results. When indexing dimensions, you ll want to index on the dimension key. When indexing the fact table, you ll want to index on the date key or the combined data plus time.

Indexing a data warehouse is tricky. If you have too few indexes, the data loads quickly but the query response is slow. If you have too many indexes, the data loads slowly and your storage requirements go through the roof but the query response is good. Indexing in any database, transactional or warehouse, most often reduces the length of time it takes to see query results. This is especially true with large tables and complex queries that involve table joins. (See also, Design your Data Warehouse for Performance and Data Warehouse Workloads and Use Cases ).

Some of the variables that you ll want to take into account when indexing the data warehouse are the type of data warehouse you have (i.e. primarily archive or primarily near real-time), how large the dimensions and fact tables are (and if the fact tables are partitioned), who will be accessing the data and how they ll do so, and whether access will be ad hoc or via structured application interfaces. These variables will determine how your indexing scheme should be structured. Here s a simple plan for indexing the relational tables that comprise a portion of your data warehouse. (Although I only explain how to index dimensions and fact tables in this article, I explain how to index the staging database in the Web-exclusive sidebar Indexing the Staging Database . ) Note that the relational tables are those that are managed by SQL Server s relational data engine, not those managed by the SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) engine.

Indexing Dimensions

You ll want to index the dimension key (primary key), which is a surrogate key, not a natural or transactional key such as customer name or customer ID. Note that you shouldn t cluster on the dimension key.

The dimension will contain a natural or transactional key (e.g. a transaction number or identifier), which we ll call a business key, from the source system. Although the business key might not be unique as in the case of a type 2 response to slowly changing dimensions create a clustered index on the identity column, which you can see in Figure 1. The Customer and the Product dimensions have a clustered index built on the business key. By clustering on this key, you can enhance the query response when the business key is used in the WHERE clause. The expression in the WHERE clause is often used to search the dimensional data, and having the dimension records pre-sorted makes the query response faster.

Clustering by the business key might also help you avoid lock escalation (i.e. row to table, intent-exclusive to exclusive) during the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process, which could happen if the surrogate key was the cluster key and all the rows were being added at the end of the file. If the exclusive locks escalated from row to table, that would block read, other ETL load, or utility operations on the table and cause diminished query response and even application timeouts. If your users and applications can live with some latency, you can get around this problem by having them query database snapshots and reserving the original database exclusively for data loads.

In Figure 1. the Date dimension and the Time dimension have no external datasource or business key. Instead of creating an identity-style primary key for these two tables, consider using a smart key, with a YYYYMMDD format for Date and an HHMMSSSSS format for Time (you can use fewer second positions, depending on how fine a time granularity you need to measure), and clustering on it. The values will maintain index order, range queries will be simplified in the fact table, and you ll need one less join when querying because the primary key will contain the date (or time).

For large type 2 slowly changing dimensions (i.e. where you add a new row to record the change), you might want to create a four-part non-clustered index that includes the business key, the record begin date, the record end date, and the surrogate key. For efficiency and to prevent escalating storage requirements, INCLUDE the record end date and the surrogate key when creating the index instead of making them part of the index key, as shown in the following command:

This command creates a covering index that can be useful during the ETL process and load operations and for historical queries. When you make RecordEnd- Date and SurrogateKEY INCLUDEs instead of part of the index key, the SQL Server engine stores these two values at only the leaf level of the index tree, thus reducing the storage requirements. By having these two columns in the index (i.e. creating a covering index), the SQL Server relational engine can get the data that it needs solely from the index during load and some query operations, without having to access data from the underlying dimension.

If there are other columns in the dimension that will be used continuously for searching, sorting, or grouping, create non-clustered indexes on those columns as you would in a transactional database. If there s an embedded hierarchy in a dimension, such as the Category- SubCategory-ProductID hierarchy in the Product dimension, then consider indexing the components of the hierarchy if it will enhance query performance and won t inhibit data loading.

Indexing the Fact Table

Indexing the fact table is similar to indexing a dimension, although you must account for partitioning. You ll want to index and cluster on the date key or a combined date plus time. Because business intelligence (BI) analysis always seems to involve a date/time component, the fact table will have a date (or datetime) key, and clustering on this key will help with cube-building. Also, if the data records are already stored in date or datetime order, historical queries will have an execution advantage. If the fact table has more than one date or datetime column, cluster on the column that s used most often for querying or cube-building.

If the fact table is partitioned on the date column, use that column as the clustering key. When you see the same column to create the clustered index that you used to create the partitions and creating the index in the same file group that holds the partitioned fact table, SQL Server will automatically partition the index the same way that the fact table is partitioned (i.e. the index will have the same partitioning function and column as the fact table). When the index is partitioned the same way the fact table is partitioned, the table and its index are said to be aligned, which makes for an optimal operational situation, especially if you anticipate creating additional partitions or making frequent partition switches.

Next, create a non-clustered index on each of the foreign keys in the fact table, and consider combining the foreign key and the date key, in that order, similar to CustomerKEY + DateKEY in Figure 1. Creating a non-clustered key on the foreign keys works especially well if one or more of the associated dimensions is a type 2 slowly changing dimension. Rows with the same foreign key value will be searched in ascending date order, which will enhance the historical query response. Note that you ll want to retain relational integrity when dealing with the foreign keys. Modifying Your Indexing Scheme

Over time, your data warehouse will change to accommodate what s happening in your organization, and you ll have to modify your indexing scheme. Most data warehouse/BI systems will access these relational tables directly, so you can use tried-and-true transactional methods for tuning indexes, such as evaluating the query and data mix and adjusting it accordingly. If your relational data warehouse is used only to stage SSAS structures, then you might not need any more indexes than those we ve talked about. SSAS tends to use the same queries over and over again, so you can run the Index Tuning Wizard and tune exactly for that set of queries. Start simple, evaluate thoroughly, and build conservatively when indexing your data warehouse.

13 Tips for Low-hassle, Low-cost Business Travel

If your travel plans this summer include a trip for business (or even for family vacations!), be sure to consider these tips for low-hassle, low-cost travel. A little planning can make your travel cheaper with less hassle, too.

1.     Sign up for cloud email and documents

No more thumb drives or syncing devices upon your return. The beauty of the cloud is that you can easily carry your emails, photos, graphics, and documents along with you. Everything is available in one place upon your return, no matter which device you use.

2.     Use noise cancelling earphones

Earphones that limit outside noise let you work no matter how many cranky babies are seated around you on the plane, or how many decibels are in that airport coffee shop. More importantly, they reduce noise-related stress.

3.     Consider alternative methods of ground transportation

Services like Uber are a good alternative to taxi cabs and rental cars in many cities.  It can save money, and it may be a convenient option in locations that lack good taxi service or where you don’t need a rental call.  You use a mobile app to request a pickup, so the convenience factor can be helpful.

4.     Lunch is cheaper- make it your main meal

At most restaurants lunch is considerably cheaper than dinner. Eating a big lunch late in the afternoon may save you money – especially over a week’s travel.  Skip the evening meal with just a snack to tide you over.

5.     Hit grocery stores instead of restaurants

Who says you always have to eat in restaurants when traveling? Eating grocery store food instead of restaurant food can be cheaper and healthier. Price savvy travelers and those who watch their diets carefully look for nearby grocery stores. Buying food there instead of going to an often overpriced restaurant and taking it back to your room or to a local park will cut costs.

6.     Make business your main travel purpose- and you may be able to deduct it

While it may be tempting to get some business done while on a family trip or other travel for pleasure, that may not be the smartest move from a tax deduction standpoint. That’s because the IRS will only allow you to deduct for travel when primarily done for business. You can mix business with pleasure while on your business excursion- just be sure you don’t deduct for the non-business part of your trip. And, most importantly, make sure you document your travel as being “primarily” for business.

7.     When traveling internationally use a translation app 

Don’t count on everyone speaking English in your international travels.

Today there are translation apps you can use on your smartphone that will provide common travel phrases and requests to help you communicate.  The TripLingo app, for example, not only provides a number of travel phrases, but will also provide instant voice translations in up to 19 languages.

8.     Get a micro projector

If you give sales or customer presentations, you need some way to show your screen to a group.  A micro-projector that can be used with a mobile device is a big help.  Gone are the days of lugging a heavy projector around – or worse, asking the company you are visiting to use one.

9.     Bring an extra charger

No matter how many extra phone chargers you think you need, it’s easy to run out. If you’re traveling all day and taking connecting flights, you may not be able to find charging stations at airports – and when you use a GPS app to navigate around in a rental car, it practically drains your smartphone battery in front of your eyes.

Even when I carry extra chargers and power everything up before I leave home or the hotel, I always seem to have something die before the day’s end.  Do yourself a favor and get an additional backup battery/charger for your next trip.

10.  Learn to pack efficiently

Packing to save space is an art form, and efficient packing can nearly double your space inside a suitcase or briefcase, which can also prevent costs associated with checked bags (or allow you to use a smaller carry-on, saving your back in the process).  Here are a few tips:

  • Roll clothes in plastic bags saves space and keep wrinkles down
  • Place smaller items inside larger items to save space
  • Explore mobile apps like the PackPoint app to help you plan your packing for extended trips

11.  Email your important items to yourself in advance

Always email yourself your full itinerary (including those all-important confirmation numbers), and a copy of your identification and your passport in advance.  It’s a small step, but if you’ve ever had a briefcase left behind in a rental car or your pocket picked, you’ll appreciate this.

If your boarding passes, ID, and/or passport get lost or stolen, you at least have access via email to recover them.  This enables you to provide evidence to help you start the process of getting replacements and return home.

12.  Check Seat Guru for the best seat choices

Not all seats are the same on every plane or even on the same flight.

Seat Guru shows the configuration of the plane for each airline.  It helps you determine the best seats by highlighting which seats have the most room, which seats don’t recline, which have issues such as being too close to restrooms, and other annoyances that can make travel less pleasant.

Be sure to open up SeatGuru.com, which is a free service, in another browser window to check when making seat selections.  You’ll be glad you did.

13.  Don’t overlook the importance of “free”

Breakfast is a particularly high-priced meal in most hotels, and WiFi can also be pricey at $15.00 to $20.00 per day in some locations.  Some hotel chains offer free breakfast and free WiFi, sometimes just for those who are members of their rewards programs, so be sure to do your homework.  Checked bag fees can mount up too, so take the time to look for airlines that offer free checked bags.

Saving on breakfast, WiFi access, and baggage costs can save you hundreds on a single business trip.

On Holiday Group enters administration

Bed bank and online retailer On Holiday Group has entered administration with forward bookings worth £19 million.

Discussions with another bed bank to take on On Holiday Group’s bookings broke down last night and staff were due to be informed this morning that the business was to close.

Steve Endacott, founder of the On Holiday Group, said the hoped-for deal with another bed bank “would have minimised disruption to customers and On Holiday Group’s travel agency partners”.

But he added: “However, we are saddened to report that only one bed bank was willing to complete a deal to help their travel agency partners.

“Unfortunately, the deal floundered last night because of deliberate and inaccurate leaks to the Spanish press along with legal complexities relating to the client account.”

The collapse of On Holiday Group is expected to leave its creditors, primarily overseas hotels, with unpaid debts of at least £7 million.

Endacott said monies received from agents were being held in ring-fenced client accounts and would be returned in the next few days.

However, clients will have to pay their bills in-resort and claim refunds from agents.

“I am absolutely gutted and deeply sorry to have to have to tell 65 people that they will lose their jobs, unless the administrator can find a buyer willing to take them on in the next few weeks,” said Endacott.

On Holiday Group’s trading partner Euro Rooms Direct has also stopped taking forward bookings.

Endacott’s other investments, including Holiday Taxis, Rock Insurance, CWT Digital, Internet Travel and Luggage Mule, are not affected.

One of the pioneering dynamic packaging specialists of the last decade, On Holiday Group was set up in 2003 by Endacott, previously Airtours commercial director and MyTravel tour operations managing director.

The group of businesses included hotel booking website Holiday Nights, as well as Fresh Holidays, 118 Travel, flightandhotel.co.uk and PortAventura Holidays. It also operated Spanish hotel booking site reserva123.com.

The company was a member of the Midcounties Co-operative consortium and operated under its Atol licence, and these websites continue to trade.

On Holiday Group struck a deal with Midcounties in 2012 to create dynamic packaging brand Co-op Recommends offering exclusive deals.
