Tourists tell of Egypt safety fears as UK tour operators continue to fly to Red Sea resorts

Worried British tourists who cancel their trips to Egypt’s Red Sea resorts will not get a refund from their tour operator because the British Government has not yet extended its advice against ‘all but essential travel’ to the country’s east coast.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is advising against all travel to North Sinai and all but essential travel to Egypt but the warning excludes the Red Sea resorts in South Sinai and the Egyptian mainland.

These include the entire region of Sharm el Sheikh, Taba, Nuweiba and Dahab.

Business as usual: The FCO has not extended its warning to Egypt’s Red Sea resorts, including Sharm el Sheikh, which is popular with British holidaymakers

However other European countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, France and Belgium, have advised their citizens not to travel to the Red Sea resorts.

The US has also issued an alert for the whole of Egypt and Thailand is preparing to evacuate 2,000 of its nationals.

If the British Government follows suit and issues a warning telling British holidaymakers not to travel to the resorts, tourists will be able to claim a refund on their booking.

9 Helpful Tips For Traveling Europe Alone As A 20-Something Female

9 Helpful Tips For Traveling Europe Alone As A 20-Something Female

This summer I packed up a Rick Steves backpack, got on a plane and traveled Europe by myself. When I left, my dad was terrified and most of my friends thought I was crazy. BUT traveling alone was the best thing I’ve ever done and through trial/error/hangovers, I learned a lot.  Here are some tips for making your solo European trip as fun, safe, awesome and as cheap as possible:

Shalom Alechem

1. Realize what’s important in a hostel

One of the reasons why traveling alone is the best is that you get to make new friends nearly every day. However, a key factor of this is choosing what hostels to stay in. You might think you’ve scored big time when you book a fancy hostel (complete with bar! food! pool!) for cheap, but I would recommend being weary of such accommodations. When hostels feel like hotels, travelers tend to be less social. What’s actually important? Kitchen, atmosphere (somewhere in between chill and party) and communal lounge areas. Major bonus if you snag free breakfast.

2. Find friends at your hostel that you can trust

The least sketchy way to start out an evening is going out with people you at least slightly know. Now that being said, you can still barely know them. For example, in Scotland I went outside out of boredom and ended up tagging along with some fellow travelers and it turned out to be a great night. But knowing they had my back (to an extent at least) allowed me to enjoy getting reasonably drunk. Example number two, while out with a large group from my hostel in Paris, I got SMASHED (believe me, the caps is justified), but because I was with a great group of people, and a really nice Australian (thanks Michael), I didn’t get robbed and/or taken advantage of.

3. Come up with an Alias

There are most definitely going to be creepers, because although in the states getting a man is about as easy as performing a root canal, in Europe they’re everywhere. Sadly, not all that attention will be welcomed. Therefore, you must have an alias most importantly a last name, so they won’t know anything too personal about you.

Go with something realistic (a.k.a most of them won’t be stupid enough to believe your name is McLovin), also pick something that’s not already taken (they also won’t believe your name is Angelina Jolie). Get to know your alias so it sounds natural when you respond to their questions. Give this alias a fake city as well, preferably one you know something about. My name in Europe was Christine Benson (common last name) and I hailed from San Francisco (I have been there enough to be able to convincingly lie straight to peoples face).

4. Learn how to avoid creeps without actually saying no

The last thing you want to do is piss off the drunk Scotsman at the bar. So instead of saying “fuck off” like you want to, try to be a little more discreet. Since you probably don’t have cellular phone capabilities, expect them to ask for your name so they can stalk you on Facebook. Creepy, right? Good thing there’s a trick! Use this line: “my name is really common, let me get yours.” Say this even if your name is the most unique name on the planet (besides, your alias should be common). This way, you’re not saying no, but they also won’t be stalking your profile pictures/sending you messages in which they are overly interested in your whereabouts.

 5. Pack lightly

Everyone will tell you this and you will ha-ha at them and say, “duh, I already know that”. But really, PACK LIGHT. Bring clothes you love so much you want to sleep with them, and then wear them over and over again (also helpful because there will probably be a lot of nights when you’re too drunk to take off said clothes before passing out). I thought I packed light, but still had to ship back an 80 Euro package to make my bag fit within the Nazi like limitations of RyanAir.

6. Bring your student ID

Nobody told me this! Nobody! To my friends who’ve been to Europe I ask: what kind of friends are you. Bring your student ID even if you don’t remember the last time you cracked open a book. It can get you cheaper drinks, free museum admission and pretty much everything at a discounted price.

7. Find a grocery store

Unless you want to sit alone in your hostel and cry, you are going to have to spend some money. However, in some aspects you will have control over the amount of money you spend. Food is one of these. I would suggest finding your nearest grocery store and getting real familiar with tortellini (cheap, delicious, protein filled) Spend your food money where it counts: scotch in Scotland, a nice dinner in Paris, authentic pasta in Italy, Tapas in Barcelona, etc. The rest of the time, eat all the baguettes you can find.

8. Have flexibility to leave/stay

Saying this is going to make me sound like an ungrateful, uncultured snob, but I hated Rome. The second I stepped out of termini station (and was greeted by a vomiting homeless man) I had a bad feeling about the place, and after the first night I was ready to leave. But I still had three more full days before I departed for Barcelona. I wish I’d had more flexibility to move around as I pleased instead of being at the whim of an airline. You do have to be careful of prices rising the longer you wait (BUY A CHUNNEL TICKET ASAP IF YOU’RE GOING FROM LONDON TO PARIS), but sometimes moving on with your journey, or staying where makes you happiest, is worth the extra cost.

9. Dress/act like yourself

You are going to constantly be putting yourself out there, meeting new people, asking for directions in a language you don’t speak, going into fancy museums. My best advice for dealing with any un-comfortableness associated with these things: be yourself. Not only will this make you feel more at ease, but it will also help you attract the kind of people you actually want to hang out with.

Greek debt relief closer than ever but creditors must act, Greek

#

Greek debt relief ‘closer than ever’ but creditors must act, Greek prime minister says

ATHENS Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras kept up his demand for debt relief from international lenders on Tuesday, saying Athens was close to securing a solution to ease its debt mountain but that creditors must meet there commitments.

Greece wants to wrap up negotiations with the lenders — the European Union and International Monetary Find — on reforms and on debt relief this month.

It needs another tranche of bailout money, wants to qualify for inclusion in the European Central Bank’s bond-buying program, and seeks to return to bond markets immediately afterwards.

“We are closer than ever to a substantial solution on debt relief,” said Tsipras reiterating that Greece had already agreed to apply more austerity after its current bailout expires and it was its lenders’ turn to fulfill their promises of discussions about debt relief.

“Τhe ball is no longer in our court,” he told reporters referring to lenders’ statements on debt relief in past years.

Despite Greece’s recent statements and a bailout review agreement at staff level, sources close to the lenders have been less optimistic seeing talks on debt relief lasting longer than May.

This is because of sharp differences between the IMF and Germany, Europe’s paymaster, over the Greece’s fiscal targets. The former says Greece’s target and debt are unsustainable; the latter, with an election coming, is less willing to drop its hard line.

After six months of tense talks, Athens and the lenders reached a deal last week on a set of additional reforms the country needs to implement in 2019-20, two years after its current, 86-billion euro bailout program expires.

Greece wants euro zone finance ministers to approve the reforms’ deal at a scheduled Eurogroup meeting on May 22 — a key condition for unlocking vital loans — but also agree on a formula to make its debt sustainable in the medium-term and long term.

Debt sustainability is key for the European Central Bank and the Washington-based IMF, which participated financially in the country’s first two rescue packages, but has yet to announce whether it will join Greece’s current program, the third since 2010.

Greek lawmakers are expected to vote on the new austerity package by May 18, before euro zone finance ministers assess the country’s progress.

Tsipras, who is sagging in opinion polls and whose term expires in 2019, controls 153 lawmakers in the 300-seat parliament and he is expected to pass the bill.

But the delays in the negotiations have slowed projected economic growth and have exacerbated reform fatigue after seven years of austerity hurting the government’s popularity further.

Asked whether he was considering a cabinet reshuffle, Tsipras ruled it out.

“We are not considering it. Our aim now is to speed up work as much as we can,” he said during a visit at the education ministry, where he announced a planned education reform.

Making Fake Boarding Passes as Gifts – Le Chic Geek #inflatable

#airplane ticket
#

What s Wrong With This Bathroom?

When I surprised my mom with tickets to Paris, I printed out fake boarding passes to present to her.

I ve had some people ask me how I did this, and it was actually quite easy!

First, if you are looking for a way to make your First Class tickets look as real as possible, that won t work with what I used.  My tickets were obviously not real , but were informative.

I searched the one place I thought I would find really detailed instructions on building intricate boarding passes wedding websites.

Please note, the instructions for the boarding pass template are really overwhelming.  They suggest using tools, making multisided boarding passes, and making your own envelopes.  I stared at it blankly for a while.

But remember, these instructions are for obsessed brides.  I used a printer, scissors, one   page of the boarding pass template (page 3), and an envelope I swiped from a boarding gate.

I cut them out, stapled them together, and threw them into the envelope.  I swiped the language from tourism websites/books for the two places.

I m awful at these DIY tasks.  Pinterest is full of things I can never have. Still, I pin things in hopes that some day some day I will suddenly become more crafty.

But here s how a klutz easily did it:

1. Download This Boarding Pass Template

Just click on the boarding passes on that site and it ll download.  I ll wait for your download to finish.

2. Open it, and only focus on page 3

If you are crafty, by all means, poke around the template and make something really fancy (and show me!) but if you are just looking for gift tickets and aren t making wedding invitations, go to page three.

3. Change the text and insert images

This was really easy.  The text is already there, so I clicked on everything I wanted to change and edited the wording.  The pictures are slightly trickier if you aren t used to dropping images into Word (after all, it s called Word)  but here s an easy screen show of how to.

Go to Insert and choose Clip Art.  If you have your own photos you want to put in, choose picture, but Clip Art was sufficient for me!

And then search the ClipArt for a graphic that matches up with your trip and drag it onto the picture.  You can move it around as much as you want until you get it in the right place.

And here s it in the document:

You can get fancier with changing fonts and colors as your knowledge of Word allows.  But I found this basic template really easy to use.

If you want to share the boarding pass template with other people, please link to her site.  As I was trying to find it again, I found websites linking directly to her template rather than her website, which seemed to suggest they made the template.  I want to make sure she gets all the credit she deserves for this amazing idea!

She also has a template for a fake Passport. in case you d prefer to surprise someone with a trip through a series of passport stamps.

Hope this helps and let me know what you make!

For details about the actual trip:

1. Surprising Someone With a Trip to Paris

2. The Newark Lufthansa Senator Lounge

3. Lufthansa Business Class from EWR-FRA

4. The Hilton Frankfurt Airport

5. Roaming Frankfurt Wild

Interview with teacher and author, Frank Adamo

Q. Is there really a big job market for English-speaking teachers abroad?

F.A. English is the international language of science, medicine, information technology and business, and is fast becoming the international language in other fields as well. For example, according to a recent issue of Newsweek, all of the world’s top 10 universities are in the U.S. and Britain, and 30-40% of our doctoral students come from overseas. If foreign students want the best education to get the best jobs, they need to speak English. In some foreign cities, students need to pass an English exam to enter their own universities!

Q. What about the job market for teachers in Italy right now (2015)?

F.A. Frustration with traditional Italian schools has led to the increasing popularity of international schools offering the entire curriculum in English. There are teacher jobs for English-speaking teachers in every subject, especially English as a second language (ESL). Americans, Canadians and Australians are working in Italy even though they aren’t citizens of the European Union, but there is stiff competition. The world financial crisis has led to many English speakers who never dreamed of teaching anything, let alone English, looking for teaching jobs abroad. Working in Italy nowadays is becoming an impossible dream, especially for casual job-seekers who naively hope to find employment without bothering to become well-informed.

Q. Is TEFL or other certification necessary to teach abroad?

F.A. As in many other countries, the rate of successful foreign language learning in Italy is very low. Outdated teaching methods combined with a lack of student motivation translate into frequent failure in learning ESL. This situation has led to the rise of teacher training frauds. Web sites claiming to offer jobs abroad are merely selling TEFL or similar courses. You apply for what are actually fictitious teaching positions, and then you are told: Since you don’t have a TEFL certificate you’ll have to pay Ђ1,000 for our course. By the time you finish the course, the position you applied for is no longer available. The scammers are on the blogs posing as your good buddy, while steering you to buy courses, and they feed false info into the online encyclopedias. The scammers often pose as teachers who worked in Italy and offer superficial advice, with the inevitable plug to be sure you get qualified by buying a TEFL course.

Q. What exactly is your claim to expertise in teaching in Italy?

F.A. I’ve been teaching ESL in northern and southern Italy for nearly 20 years, and I continually update the most detailed, comprehensive and authoritative employment guide available: Teach English in Italy, now in its second edition. Although a printed edition is available from Amazon and other booksellers, the printed book was already out-of-date by the time it reached the shelves. The most up-to-date information and jobs are only available in the eBook you can order from this web page.

Q. What kind of information, specifically, does your book offer?

F.A. Step-by-step instructions to find jobs in every field of opportunity: university positions, state schools, commercial language centers, and freelance tutoring, PLUS practical help to do your job effectively. PLUS a list of genuine job openings with the employers’ contact information. The perfect gift for graduating students, recent grads, the unemployed, career changers.

Q. How has the current financial crisis affected the job market for English-speaking teachers in Italy?

F.A. The reality is that there are more people looking for jobs as ESL teachers now, but most people make the mistake of simply searching for the latest job ads and then sending off their C.V. (rйsumй) as quickly as possible. They literally don’t know what they’re doing, and waste their time and energy for nothing. Even in booming Asian economies like China, an uninformed person is more likely to fall victim of a fraud than find decent employment.

Q. Anything else we should know before investing our time and money in a new career?

F.A. The web is great because you can get some information quickly and easily, but don’t make the costly mistake of thinking you’ll find out everything you need to know by reading three or four pages on a few web sites, or casual conversation on blogs – the blind leading the blind. If you really want to be well-informed you still need to read a book, if not several. You can read the whole story in the eBook Teach English in Italy to take advantage of my extensive experience, and then you can contact me by email or telephone for continuing advice every step of the way.

VENICE: Primary school teacher needed to start September 2015. Contact.

As reported in the Wall Street Journal beware of sites that ask you to enter your personal information in a “rйsumй database,” since you may be at risk of identity theft. Schools aren’t so desperate for teachers that they go searching through the databases of sites selling short certificate courses of questionable value.

Rapid growth is great for a company s bottom line but it can also tax systems to their limits. Healthplex provides cost-effective dental plans for insurance companies and third-party administrators. As Healthplex watched its dental plan business grow, its legacy phone system and contact center platform had been patched to its limits. Adding more hardware, per manufacturer s recommendations, caused bandwidth issues and hampered call capacity. MnSCU Farm Business Management – Welcome to Farm Business Management #minnesota,

    #

    Welcome to Farm Business Management

In today s world, farming is a complex business with many facets. From the traditional family owned farm to the corporate farm, bookkeeping, profitability, tax planning and many other skills are required to complement traditional farming duties.

Agriculture is the number two industry in Minnesota, and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities offers many programs for farm owners and employees.

This site will help you explore the many possibilities that await.

    Farm Business Management Education Programs

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities farm business management education programs are administered through eight college campuses at 46 different sites across the state. There are a total of 62 farm business management instructors.

Farm business management programs are designed to provide education to farm owners and operators or persons interested in farming. The purpose of the program is to assist students in meeting their business and personal goals. This is best accomplished through the use of quality records and sound business decisions. Effective financial management in the business is the best way for the business to maintain that competitive edge.

Your business is your data. It s the single most valuable asset you have, and it needs to stay secure, protected and available at all times. That s why in 2003 we launched one of the first fully managed online backup solutions in the UK. Unbeatable support and award-winning technology mean you can backup and restore your files instantly. Online backup =
    fewer resources +
    less management

Online backup from Databarracks starts with strategy, not technology. It starts with the engineer we send to help set up the backup and retention policies, scheduling, exclusions and data management – and continues with unlimited access to our proactive 24/7/365 technical support.

No call centres. No queues. Afterwards, that’s it. We manage, administer, monitor and proactively support your backup solution every day, leaving you to focus on your core business.

    Agentless backup

Our backup software is agentless, which is less resource intensive, more efficient and more resilient than traditional agent-based backup systems. Practically, this means a cheaper backup solution, fewer licenses and automated processes that manage themselves.

Perhaps most significantly, however, traditional agent-based backup solutions require an open firewall port for every agent, effectively creating multiple backdoors in the server architecture.

Agentless online backup is inherently more secure.

Europe Travel Deals: With Euro Weakening, Americans Can Travel For Cheap

Europe Travel Deals: With Euro Weakening, Americans Can Travel For Cheap As Dollar Exchange Rate Drops

The dropping euro and a more valuable dollar mean that Americans can get more euros to spend on what’s most important: European beer. Reuters/Ints Kalnins

Seeing the Mona Lisa is a better deal now than it has been years. Americans and other foreigners can expect to land cheap trips to continental Europe over the next few months after the euro hit its lowest since March 2006 on Monday. That means Americans could get hundreds of more euros for their dollars than they did just a year ago, according to travel professionals.

“The euro is down about 10 percent to 15 percent from where it was most of 2014, so it’s an instant discount for those of us with U.S. dollars,” said Roger Wade, founder of Price of Travel. “Many analysts are expecting the euro to continue going lower, at least in the short term, and if Greece effectively votes itself out of the euro soon, it could drop even further.”

The euro-to-dollar exchange rate dipped 1.2 percent just on Monday. At its lowest, one euro was worth about $1.1864, but recovered slightly to $1.1944. The euro’s drop is a product of — among other factors — political instability in Greece, an increasingly strong American economy and the likelihood that the European Central Bank will take quantitative easing measures to boost the European economy, according to NPR .

The drop in the euro over the last year has already translated into real discounts for Americans converting their dollars, according to James Feess at the Savvy Backpacker, a site dedicated to budget travel in Europe. “An average hostel in Paris will cost about $38 night at the moment, but a few years ago it would cost about $48. That extra $10 can now be used for museum entry or a walking tour. Since most young people travel for a few weeks, that extra $10 per night really adds up,” Feess said.

The euro has generally been valued a good deal higher than the dollar  since it was introduced in 1999. For much of its existence, the euro was valued between $1.30 and a high just over $1.47. When the euro was worth around $1.37 at the beginning of 2014, $1,000 would convert over to €730, whereas now it would convert to €840. BNP Paribas, a big French bank, predicts  the euro will drop to $1.15 by the end of 2015.

A high exchange rate likely turned many young would-be-backpackers away from studying abroad or going on a cross-European trip in recent years, Feess said. But with more money in their pockets, travelers could now see more of Europe, including typically more pricey cities like Rome. Currencies outside of the euro zone have suffered, too, so travelers could get good deals across Europe, including in non-euro Britain, Norway and Sweden.

“Transportation adds up. A one-way Eurostar journey currently costs about $82-$105 but a few years ago that same ticket was around $105-$133. When you add up all these little costs it ends up being a large chunk of money for a multi-week trip,” he said, referring to the London-to-Paris train route under the English Channel.

The euro hovered near all-time lows as fireworks lit the sky over the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs Elysees in Paris on New Year’s Eve. Reuters/Christian Hartmann

Airfares aren’t expected to drop significantly, however, even though the price of oil fell by more than half over the last six months to just over $50 per barrel. Plane tickets are more dependent on supply and demand than on exchange rates. Many airlines are taking the opportunity to reinvest the billions of dollars saved on fuel to upgrade their services, according to the New York Times .

Dejan Bajic with Danny Travel, an agency that specializes in setting up trips for Europeans living in the U.S. who travel back to their home countries, said his business hasn’t been affected much by the currency rates, but he predicted an increase in interest in Europe among Americans seeking to travel cheaper.

“Anything you spend there, anything connected to euros like hotels, cars, trains, they will all be cheaper,” he said.

It is always good to have some hosted virtual desktops handy with pre-installed applications to meet fluctuating demands. At other times, special applications and environments are needed case by case for short periods for specific users. It is easy to meet that demand with hosted dedicated desktops. Round the clock availability of the desktop infrastructure and knowledgeable support from Apps4Rent’s staff adds to the flexibility.

Services and Desktop Hosting Together Lower Costs

The cost savings for virtual desktop services come primarily from getting things done faster for end-users and IT staff. And the savings in time and timeliness is worth a lot of money. Using a desktop hosting service provider such as Apps4Rent is suitable for offices where specialized IT staff is scarce. Apps4Rent’s desktop hosting packages include anti-virus, regular backups, and popular applications. And our competitively priced and experienced staff can install custom software applications during off-peak hours, letting employees remain productive during business hours. In many cases, having virtual desktops in the cloud means doing away with the requirement of having a server in-house, maintaining it with all the necessary support and software updates. The costs are predictable in the form of monthly subscriptions and you do not have to spend capital on buying hardware or software; it also results in optimization of the desktop resources to match the needs of the hour.

    Cloud Desktops with Service Reliability

Nothing can disrupt a business like critical IT infrastructure shutting down. Recognizing this, Apps4Rent host their virtual desktop systems in the most-developed data centers in US that are SSAE16 Type II certified. Every component has a redundant backup, right from the power supply to connection to the internet backbone connection to even the staff who manage it Apps4Rent Has spared no efforts to ensure that your business keeps running smoothly. Don’t be too dependent on individuals when you have a whole team from App4Rent working for you round the clock. We have configured the daily backups to happen automatically and get stored in our secure data center. We also monitor and manage the software patches and regular updates 24 x 7 for the virtual IT infrastructure.

    DaaS Providers Improve Productivity

DaaS providers such as Apps4rent can help improve productivity. It frees up your internal IT team from being occupied with day-to-day troubleshooting tasks. They can now focus on actively being involved in the IT requirements of your core business. Moreover, having a virtual cloud hosted desktop means that your entire team, managers, and the stakeholders will become productive even when they are at a remote location, home, or travelling. They will be able to use the virtual desktop with a consistent experience, no matter where they access it from or which device they use. Daas plans from Apps4Rent start at as low as $24.95 a month for each user and this lowest pricing will further add to the ROI. With our virtual desktops, you can use your favorite full-featured business software packages that you have invested in. Moreover, you no longer will have to invest in upgrading your hardware to keep up with the demands of the latest software.

Kyoto Chosen as No. 1 Destination by U. S. Travel Magazine

Japan s ancient capital Kyoto proved popular in another poll of the world s cities, topping a list of the world s best destinations in a survey of readers in Travel + Leisure magazine.

Kyoto jumped four places from last year, unseating Bangkok from the top spot in the magazine s 2014 World’s Best Awards list. The result followed the Kyoto s recent top 10 ranking in a list of the most livable cities .

Travel + Leisure noted that the attraction of Japan s ancient capital went beyond its cherry blossoms, temples and gardens.

One can also find “reimagined ryokan (Japanese-style hotels) and an emerging style scene that is cutting edge,” said a magazine correspondent in a video clip posted on the magazine s website.

The survey gave scores to each city based on votes received from readers. Poll participants were asked to judge destinations on a variety of factors including culture, arts, food and value for money.

Respondents were screened to remove travel-industry professionals from the vote, according to the magazine s website.

Tokyo didn’t make the top 10, but was ranked fourth among Asian cities behind Kyoto, Siem Reap in Cambodia and Bangkok.

“I am deeply moved and happy” that Kyoto was picked as the best destination in the world, Kyoto Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa said in a statement. The mayor said the outcome was a result of coordination between the public and the corporate sector to improve the city’s appeal for tourists.

“We hope to continue offering visitors the experience of Kyoto’s unique culture, arts, sights and hospitality,” Mr. Kadokawa said.

The ancient capital ranked No. 9 in a list of the World’s Most Livable Cities compiled by London-based magazine Monocle last month.

    Items you will need

    • Large, clear plastic bag
    • Bubble wrap (optional)
    • Packing tape Sticker label

    Step 1

Gather all the parts of your child’s car seat. Some car seats install in a vehicle with only the seat belt, while others require a docking base. Make sure you have all of the necessary pieces to safely install the car seat in another vehicle. If desired, bring along any toys that you would like to attach to the car seat for your child to play with.

    Step 2

Place the car seat and any other pieces (such as a docking base) in a large, clear plastic bag, such as a garbage bag or lawn care bag. Tie the bag and seal it using packing tape to protect the contents from becoming dirty during travel. To protect your car seat from becoming damaged, you can also wrap the car seat in bubble wrap.

Write your contact information on a sticker label. Make sure to include your name, address and phone number. Affix the contact information label to the outside of the bag for identification purposes.

Check in at your airline’s desk and let them know that you need to check a car seat. The agent will print an additional baggage tag for your car seat and will affix it to the outside of the bag to ensure it is transported on your plane.

    International Travel as a Permanent Resident #one #travel #select

    #international travel

International Travel as a Permanent Resident

What documents do I need to travel outside the United States?

In general, you will need to present a passport from your country of citizenship or your refugee travel document to travel to a foreign country. In addition, the foreign country may have additional entry/exit requirements (such as a visa). For information on foreign entry and exit requirements, see the Department of State s webpage .

What documents do I need to present to reenter the United States?

If seeking to enter the United States after temporary travel abroad, you will need to present a valid, unexpired green card (Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card). When arriving at a port of entry, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer will review your permanent resident card and any other identity documents you present, such as a passport, foreign national I.D. card or U.S. Driver s License, and determine if you can enter the United States. For information pertaining to entry into the United States, see U.S. Customs and Border Protection s webpage .

Does travel outside the United States affect my permanent resident status?

Permanent residents are free to travel outside the United States, and temporary or brief travel usually does not affect your permanent resident status. If it is determined, however, that you did not intend to make the United States your permanent home, you will be found to have abandoned your permanent resident status. A general guide used is whether you have been absent from the United States for more than a year. Abandonment may be found to occur in trips of less than a year where it is believed you did not intend to make the United States your permanent residence. While brief trips abroad generally are not problematic, the officer may consider criteria such as whether your intention was to visit abroad only temporarily, whether you maintained U.S. family and community ties, maintained U.S employment, filed U.S. income taxes as a resident, or otherwise established your intention to return to the United States as your permanent home. Other factors that may be considered include whether you maintained a U.S. mailing address, kept U.S. bank accounts and a valid U.S. driver s license, own property or run a business in the United States, or any other evidence that supports the temporary nature of your absence.

What if my trip abroad will last longer than 1 year?

If you plan on being absent from the United States for longer than a year, it is advisable to first apply for a reentry permit on Form I-131. Obtaining a reentry permit prior to leaving the United States allows a permanent or conditional permanent resident to apply for admission into the United States during the permit s validity without the need to obtain a returning resident visa from a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad. Please note that it does not guarantee entry into the United States upon your return as you must first be determined to be admissible; however, it will assist you in establishing your intention to permanently reside in the United States. For more information, see the Travel Documents page.

If you remain outside of the United States for more than 2 years, any reentry permit granted before your departure from the United States will have expired. In this case, it is advisable to consider applying for a returning resident visa (SB-1) at the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. An SB-1 applicant will be required to establish eligibility for an immigrant visa and will need a medical exam. There is an exception to this process for the spouse or child of either a member of the U.S. Armed Forces or civilian employee of the U.S. Government stationed abroad on official orders. For more information on obtaining a returning resident visa, see the Department of State s webpage on returning resident visas .

Additionally, absences from the United States of six months or more may disrupt the continuous residency required for naturalization. If your absence is one year or longer and you wish to preserve your continuous residency in the United States for naturalization purposes, you may file an Application to Preserve Residence for Naturalization Purposes on Form N-470. For more information, please see the Continuous Residence and Physical Presence Requirements page.

Making Fake Boarding Passes as Gifts – Le Chic Geek #tickets
