8 Benefits Of Traveling

Even if you live in a vibrant city and have an exciting job and active social life, nothing can replace the unique experiences traveling offers. Visiting a foreign country opens your eyes to how the rest of the world lives; many therefore return home with a new appreciation for their own country while gaining a broader worldview in the process. Remember, you only live once, so passing up a chance to travel is tantamount to passing up a life-altering experience.

1. Break out of your shell

Foremost on the reasons to travel is that you discover a lot about yourself. Now I’m not talking about taking a family trip to Disney World. When I speak of a special vacation, I envision someone backpacking across Europe or driving along the coast of Australia that is, a trip with cultural significance. Not many things in the world can inspire you like seeing the Colosseum in Rome or the Pyramids in Egypt.

That is why traveling is known to provide people with a whole new perspective, whether that means no longer sweating the small stuff or promising to get out there and meet new people upon returning home. Those who have left their comfort zone and headed for a foreign land have done the right thing; there is nothing like a trip to make you a new man who has no choice but to fend for himself. Whether alone, with a partner, or in a group, your development surely speeds up when you’re abroad.

2. Embrace new cultures

Not only does traveling provide a sense of adventure, but it also opens doors to cultures that do not revolve around MTV and McDonald’s (or at least try hard not to). Though Americana has spread its wings on an international level, even a week abroad can serve to prove that people do live without the symbols that North Americans encounter every day.

Better yet, you will become appreciative of other cultures; instead of instinctively criticizing that which is “different,” you will be motivated to accept new cuisine or alternative forms of entertainment. You never know; upon your return home, you might even forego the latest Vin Diesel blockbuster for a Bollywood flick.

3. Enjoy life like never before

Experiences can range from the legendary (watching the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain) to the relaxing (enjoying a hot spring while snow swirls around you in Iceland), but they share one common link: they are all memorable. In every corner of the world, there is excitement waiting for you it is simply a matter of sticking your head out and going for it.

Eat like crazy, and practice some tongue on the native ladies.

FERS Annuity Calculator #calpers #retirement #benefits

#

FERS Annuity Calculator

Your basic FERS retirement annuity is computed based on your length of service and high-3 average pay. The high-3 is calculated by adding your highest salary for three consecutive years, then dividing the amount by three. Usually this is your last three years of federal service. The high-3 average pay includes locality pay and annual premiums for standby duty and availability if applicable. Other pay such as differentials, overtime, allowances and others are not included.

Generally, your regular FERS retirement benefit is calculated according to this formula:

  • 1% of your high-3 average pay times years of creditable service
    • If you retire at age 62 or later with at least 20 years of service, a factor of 1.1% is used rather than 1%.

To determine your length of service for computation, add all of your periods of creditable service, then eliminate from the total any fractional part of a month (less than 30 days).

Depending on the category of retirement benefits you receive, your benefit may be reduced as described in the Retirement Options section. For example, the total could be reduced if you elect to retire at the minimum retirement age before completing 30 years of service.

FERS Annuity Menu

FERS employees are eligible for a retirement annuity at the Minimum Retirement Age (MRA) with just 10 years of service. However, if you retire at the Minimum Retirement Age (MRA) with 10 service, but less than 30 years of service, your benefit will be reduced by the age reduction.

A ge Reduction – Your MRA annuity will be reduced by 5 percent per year (5/12 of 1 percent for each month) in which your retirement date precedes your 62nd birthday. However, you can postpone the commencing date of your annuity to reduce or eliminate this age reduction.

There is a difference between a postponed and a deferred FERS retirement.

A deferred retirement means that you are not fully eligible for a retirement annuity, but you can apply for the deferred retirement when you are eligible, such as when you reach the MRA. For example, if you are 50 years old with 18 year of service, you can apply for a deferred retirement when you reach your MRA of 57 years old.

A postponed retirement means that you are fully eligible for an immediate MRA +10 retirement annuity, but you elect to delay the retirement to reduce or eliminate the age reduction. For example, you are at your MRA of 56 with 20 years of service. You elect to postpone the start of your annuity until you are 60, you avoid the age reduction.

Postponed example 2: If you retire at age 56 with 10 years of service, you are 6 years away from age 62. Your retirement benefit checks will be reduced by 30% if you start receiving your annuity right away. In contrast, if you wait until age 58, the reduction in your payments would be 20%.

If you choose to postpone the starting date of your annuity, your FEHB and FEGLI coverage will terminate. When you start receiving your annuity, you may reinstate your FEHB and FEGLI coverage if you met the eligibility requirements to continue coverage into retirement when you left Federal employment. This does not apply to a deferred retirement because they are not eligible for an immediate annuity when they left Federal service.

If you meet certain requirements, you will receive a Special Retirement Supplement which is paid as an annuity until you reach age 62. This supplement is somewhat similar to the Social Security benefit earned while you were employed by the Federal government. However, since the formula for the Special Supplement assumes a working life of 40 years, each year of FERS service is worth one-fortieth of the estimated Social Security benefit. Therefore, the FERS Supplement is often significantly less than your Social Security benefits. The supplement ends at age 62 even if you elect to wait to apply for Social Security benefits.

You may be eligible for a Special Retirement Supplement if you retire:

  • After the Minimum Retirement Age (MRA) with 30 years of service ;
  • At age 60 with 20 years of service; or
  • Upon involuntary or early voluntary retirement (age 50 with 20 years of service, or at any age with 25 years of service) after the U.S. Office of Personnel Management determines that your agency is undergoing a major reorganization, reduction-in-force (RIF) or transfer of function. You will not receive the Special Retirement Supplement until you reach your MRA.

If you transfer to the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) from the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), you must have at least one full calendar year of FERS-covered service to qualify for the supplement.

If you have earnings from wages or self-employment that exceed the Social Security annual exempt amount ($15,720 in 2016), your Special Retirement Supplement will be reduced or stopped.

You can calculate your Social Security Offset through one of several calculators that we offer on this site.

FERS employees will be able to use the Projected Annuity Calculator spreadsheet even though it was originally designed for CSRS retirements. FERS employees projected annuity without survivor benefits will be the same; just enter your annuity estimate, age, year of retirement, what you consider to be a realistic growth rate, and the spreadsheet will calculate your annuity for the next 40 years!

The column reserved for your projected annuity with survivor benefits will be slightly lower since the maximum spousal benefit is 50% for FERS, not the 55% for CSRS. Also, the full FERS annuity will cost the retiree a little more because FERS employees pay 10% of their annuity for a full survivor’s benefit where CSRS pay just under 10%. FERS COLAs are also weighted and adjusted down when the COLA exceeds 2%.

Effective immediately, OPM is accepting the current FERS Application to Make a Deposit, SF 3108. from employees wanting to make a FERS redeposit. Employees must indicate on the application that the period of service was refunded and send the completed application through your agency for certification.

Please do not submit a payment with the application. OPM’s financial policy requires all payments be sent to OPM’s Funds Management office. If a payment is sent to OPM before the service credit account is established, Funds Management will not be able to identify where to apply the payment. As soon as the Service Credit office processes the application, a bill and instructions for making payments will be sent to the employee. Mail the completed FERS application (SF 3108) to:

  • Office of Personnel Management
    Retirement Operations Center
    PO Box 45
Boyers, PA 16025, or fax it to 724-794-1351.

Prior to enactment of the NDAA, FERS employees who separated from federal service and were paid a refund of their FERS retirement deductions permanently forfeited all retirement credit for the service covered by the refund. If the FERS refund included a refund of CSRS deductions covering CSRS service that became subject to FERS rules, employees permanently forfeited all retirement credit for that CSRS service as well. If that individual returned to work for the Government in a position covered under FERS, the employee could not repay (or redeposit) the refunded FERS and CSRS deductions. The service covered by the refunded deductions could not be used in determining when the employee would become eligible to retire and it could not be used in computing the amount of the employee’s annuity. Section 1904 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) now permits individuals who are subsequently reemployed to make a redeposit of the amount refunded, plus interest, and to have credit for the service reinstated. For the purpose of survivor annuities, redeposit may also be made by survivors.

Interest is based on the same basic rules applicable to CSRS as described in 5 U.S.C. 8334 and 5 CFR 831.105. Interest will accrue annually on the outstanding portion of any amount that may be redeposited and is compounded annually, until the portion is deposited. The interest is computed from the date the refund was paid through December 31 of the year before the one in which the redeposit is paid in full.

Section 1904 applies to individuals who are employed under FERS on or after October 28, 2009. Individuals retiring on or after October 28, 2009, and employed under FERS will be given the opportunity to make the redeposit upon the adjudication of their benefit.

Benefits

Missouri State Veteran s Benefits

The state of Missouri provides several veteran benefits. This section offers a brief description of each of the following benefits.

Missouri Veteran Housing Benefits

Missouri Veterans Homes
A current total of seven skilled nursing homes are located throughout Missouri, providing 3 levels of skilled nursing care at minimal cost to the veteran.

Under the management of Missouri Veterans Commission, these homes are located in Cameron, Warrensburg, Mexico, St. Louis, St. James, Cape Girardeau, and Mt. Vernon. Each Missouri Veterans Home employs a licensed nursing home administrator, has registered nurses on duty 24 hours per day, and provides physician care; physical, speech, occupational and recreational therapy; medications; cosmetology; maintenance, environmental and social services, and dietary specialists. Each home has a secured dementia unit that includes a dining room, activity area and enclosed courtyard. The monthly resident charge is calculated using a sliding scale based on the veteran s ability to pay. To be eligible for admission to a Missouri Veterans Home, a veteran during his or her lifetime must have lived in Missouri for 180 days, meet the criteria for veteran status established by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and require skilled nursing services.

Missouri Veteran Financial Benefits

Income Tax
Military income is not taxed if stationed outside Missouri and you and your spouse spent less than 30 days in Missouri.

Income Tax on Retired Pay
All military retirement pension income is exempt from state taxes.

Property Tax Credits
The Missouri Property Tax Credit Claim gives credit to certain senior citizens and 100% disabled individuals for a portion of the real estate taxes or rent paid for the year. The credit is for a maximum of $750 for renters and $1,100 for owners who owned and occupied their home. The actual credit is based on the amount of real estate taxes or rent paid and total household income (taxable and nontaxable). If you rent from a facility that does not pay property taxes, you are not eligible for a Property Tax Credit.

Tax Exemption for Agent Orange Settlement Payments
Agent Orange Settlement Payments made for the Agent Orange Fund to a veteran or his dependents are exempt from state tax.

VietnamVeterans Survivor Grant Program
Legislation passed in 1991 provides that certain surviving widows and children of Vietnam Veterans may qualify to receive tuition-free scholarships to attend institutions of post-secondary education in Missouri. The veteran’s death must be attributable to illness that could possibly be a result of exposure to toxic chemicals such as Agent Orange during the Vietnam conflict in order for the survivor to qualify. The maximum annual grant amount is the least of: the actual tuition charged at the school in which you are enrolled full time, or the average amount of tuition charged to a Missouri undergraduate resident enrolled full time in the same class level and in the same academic major at the Missouri public four-year, regional institutions.

Missouri Veteran Employment Benefits

Veterans’ Preference with State of Missouri Employment
Missouri Veterans receive five-point preference when testing for any position with the state, with a ten point preference for a service-connected disabled veteran. Spouses of eligible veterans can also qualify for Veterans Preference for State testing.

Priority for Qualified Veterans Employment
State agencies which administer federally funded employment and training programs for veterans shall give priority to qualified veterans and other eligible persons.

Commercial Driver Exam (CDL) Exemptions
Missouri allows active duty military or retired military personnel to complete an application for waiver of skills testing to obtain a commercial driver license. Applicant must have a minimum of 60 days active duty driving experience in a commercial motor vehicle for the military (not vehicle training) within the 2 years prior to date of application for waiver. Applicants must still complete the required knowledge examinations for the commercial driver license class being applied for.

Missouri Veteran Education Benefits

Missouri Returning Heroes Education Act
This act limits the tuition to no more than $50 per credit hour at public colleges and universities while enrolled in an undergraduate certificate or degree program after all other financial aid is taken into account. It is applicable to combat Veterans who served after September 11, 2001. Veteran remains eligible for ten years after honorable discharge.

Missouri Veteran Recreation Benefits

Resident Hunting Fishing Licenses for Active Duty
All members of the United States armed forces stationed and residing in Missouri on permanent change of station status, and their immediate families residing with them, may receive resident permit privileges.

Other Missouri State Veteran Benefits

State Veterans Cemeteries
Missouri Veterans Commission currently operates five State Veterans Cemeteries, one each in Springfield, Higginsville, Bloomfield, Ft. Leonard Wood, and Jacksonville. There is no charge for any of the services provided. These services include opening and closing of the grave, provision of a concrete grave liner, upright granite headstones, full military honors for the Veteran, and perpetual care. Those who choose cremation have the choice of in-ground burial or placement within a columbarium niche. “The new self check-in kiosk at Lakeside has been a very positive addition to clinic operations. We have received excellent feedback from both patients and staff. Patients are happy because it is a simple interface that rapidly, accurately and privately accomplishes the check-in routine. The staff are happy as it has unloaded a large portion of one of their most time consuming tasks, allowing them the ability to devote more time to the complex tasks that are not so easily automated. We have been pleasantly surprised by everyone’s acceptance of this added functionality”

– Dr. Bill Haver, Managing Partner, Lakeside Medical Clinic

“While there are still people who appreciate registering in person with a receptionist, a high volume of patients are very enthusiastic about the convenience and ease of using the kiosk. The touch screen terminal is so user-friendly, patients of all ages seem very comfortable with it”

– Warner Kabatoff, General Manager, Lakeside Medical Clinic

“Moving from one software to another is a big deal. However once we saw the power of Accuro, the vote was unanimous. Each Physician could see that the future benefits of this system were going to be huge!”

– Tom Malone, Chief Executive Officer, Winnipeg Clinic

“I knew that implementing Accuro EMR across the community would not only facilitate efficiency of workflow, but would allow physicians to make informed decisions based on the bigger picture. With a tailored system, enabling physicians to take control of the system, we now have total care over each and every one of our patients”

– Dr. Harold Nyhof, Vice President, Medical Services, North Eastman Health Association (NEHA)

“As one of the physicians in the largest and busiest clinic in Nova Scotia, with over 15 years of experience on an EMR, I was naturally very cautious about switching to another EMR platform. I was very impressed with our transition to QHR’s Accuro EMR and very relieved that what QHR promised, they delivered. QHR was able to completely import my 15 years of electronic data in a very structured format. I have been very pleased with the transition and the interfaces with the lab and diagnostic imaging which were created. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND ACCURO.”

– Dr. Robert Oliver, Woodlawn Medical Clinic, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Benefits of Air Travel

The Aviation Division can provide transportation to most locations in the State or across the nation.  One to two days travel by auto can be accomplished in one to two hours of flight.  Today’s leading executives agree that time is their most valuable resource.  Air transportation is an important business tool to save time and maximize productivity of personnel.  This is certainly true of state government.  The state, by maintaining an Aviation Division, is able to move key personnel around the state, or anywhere in the country.  In many instances this is more efficient and cost effective than auto, commercial airline or charter service.

The Aviation Division can provide the following services:

  • Greater effectiveness in providing State employees with travel flexibility.
  • Access to travel points not served by commercial airlines
  • Travel time can be spent preparing for meetings, fine tuning presentations, or in private conference.
  • Indirect cost savings due to more efficient use of work time, and a reduction of out-of-office time and hotel expenses for personnel.
  • Reliable transportation, and dependability of known skilled maintenance and flight crews.
  • Capability for express air courier and emergency service.

Aviation Division pilots collectively possess more than 40,000 hours of flying experience.  Each pilot holds an Air Transport Pilot (ATP) rating, the same as required for a captain of any major US airline.

Our experienced aircraft maintenance chief holds an FAA certified Aircraft Inspector certificate.

Constant recurrent training is a priority to ensure we maintain the highest standards of aviation safety.  FlightSafety International and Bell Helicopter Academy currently supplies both flight and maintenance training.

Welcome

Utah Social Security Disability Benefits Lawyer

At the Salt Lake City law firm of Ward Harper, Attorney at Law, we help people throughout of Utah, including Salt Lake City, Ogden, Provo, Orem, Logan, Vernal and Price, to establish their right to benefits under disability benefits programs run by the Social Security Administration. Contact our office for a free evaluation of your case.

The Social Security disability claims process can present many hurdles for people trying to establish their eligibility for benefits. I represent individuals throughout the claims process. At the third stage of the process, I represent claimants in hearings before administrative law judges to prove their disabilities and right to collect payment. I usually win by the administrative hearing stage. But if not, I appeal. I have taken cases all the way to the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Success in SSDI and SSI Appeals

I have won 99% of my cases since January 2001. Through September 2010, this amounted to 940 wins and 8 losses. I have won 1665 cases since 1994. Attorney Ward Harper will personally represent you before a judge and make the decisions in your case, not an associate or paralegal.

No Legal Fees Unless We Obtain Benefits for You

I charge no attorney’s fee while we are working on your case. Our standard fee is 25 percent of past-due benefits when we collect them on your behalf, up to a maximum of $6,000, if we win before appealing to federal court, as we usually do. Future benefits are all yours. You therefore pay nothing up front to benefit from our experience and skill.

Ward Harper has focused on Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) cases for his entire career as a lawyer (since 1988) and advocate for Utah Legal Services since 1984. With more than 26 years of experience and a proven record of success in Social Security benefits litigation, he can help you collect the benefits you need. Contact his office in Salt Lake City for a free evaluation of your claim .

Every legal matter is different. The outcome of each legal case depends upon many factors, including the facts of the case. An attorney’s success in past legal matters should not be relied upon to predict a successful outcome in your own case.

Pennsylvania Unemployment Benefits #uc #benefits

Pennsylvania Unemployment Benefits Popular

Pennsylvania Unemployment Benefits are administrated by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor Industry in which unemployment compensation (UC) is paid to people who have lost a job through no fault of their own. This is temporary income meant to help make ends meet while people look for a job.

Am I eligible for Unemployment Compensation?

Finding out if your eligible for Unemployment Compensation is based on the base year of work and you’ve had to earned enough money during that base year to qualify for Unemployment. Also in order to be eligible for unemployment you must have lost a job because of something that wasn’t your fault. If you’re out of work because your employer had to make cutbacks, close an office, went out of business or something you couldn’t control, it’s possible that you will be eligible to collect UC.

If you’re out of work because you quit or have been fired from your job, you might not be eligible for unemployment compensation. Also you must be ready to return to work and must be actively seeking for work while on unemployment.

How to apply for Unemployment Compensation (UC) in Pennsylvania

In order to apply for UC in Pennsylvania you will need to apply one of the following ways: You can apply via an online application which can be filed using PA’s secure website 7 days a week, 24 hours, also you can apply via phone by calling the following toll-free number at 1-888-313-7284 or a paper application can be mailed to a UC service center which can be downloaded and mailed to the UC Service Center. Also for people who use American Sign Language (ASL) you can apply via the videophone service which is available every Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. at 717-704-8474.

How will I receive my benefits from UC?

If you are eligible for Unemployment Compensation (UC) you will receive payments on a bi-weekly basis or a limited number of weeks. The amount you will receive is based upon the base years work and how much you have paid into UC. Please be aware that Pennsylvania Unemployment does not mail checks and prefers to use direct deposit for you bi-weekly payments.

DC PENSIONS: WHAT KIND OF GOVERNANCE WOULD YOU PREFER?

As the regulatory picture becomes increasingly complex, a growing number of organisations are looking again at the governance and delivery of their DC pension scheme. We’re ready to shoulder as much – or as little – of the burden as you’d like.

We’ve thought carefully about our master trust, group personal pension, trust-based and investment-only options – so your decision about how you run your scheme is purely based upon the level of responsibility (and risk) you’re happy to take on.

The best of Aon… whichever option you choose

All our pension solutions include delegated investment funds, which have the agility to react quickly to new legislation or changes in the economy, without leaving your members stuck in expensive or underperforming legacy investments.

And naturally, you’ll feel the benefit of Aon’s global investment management capabilities – and the strength and breadth of our independent manager research teams, who’ll bring you a whole menu of flexible investment options reflecting our latest DC investment ideas, like:

  • Aon-designed target date funds
  • Intelligent lifestyle strategies
  • White-labelled self-select funds
Fully-outsourced governance: two choices

Given the changing regulatory picture, it’s increasingly common for customers to ask us to handle the entirety of their pension governance. We have two ways to do this:

Aon’s Group Personal Pension: Bigblue Touch. We created Bigblue Touch to give our clients a GPP scheme that’s designed for the accelerating pace of change in today’s pension market. You’ll find more information, here .

The Aon MasterTrust. If you’d like to maintain a direct relationship with your Members, but the new governance requirements and responsibilities are proving too great a burden, The Aon MasterTrust is an ideal solution.

Managed by a completely independent trustee board, our master trust scheme groups your pension with other employers and makes it easier to satisfy your legal duties, while securing good outcomes for your members. There’s more information here .

Whether you choose Bigblue Touch or the Aon Mastertrust, your members will gain access to our easy-to-use technology platform. This makes it simple for members to understand the value of their pension, predict likely outcomes and make additional savings, including using an ISA. They can use our solution to continue making smart decisions at – and after – retirement, too.

Both schemes also include:

  • Investments that aim to give great outcomes. tailored to your people’s needs
  • Engaging, proactive communications. so your members are fully informed throughout their journey
  • Comprehensive support at retirement. regardless of a member’s plans for their pension pot, including the option of a straight-through drawdown solution, using institutional funds and pricing
  • Financial aggregation tools. so members can see their pension savings in context, alongside bank accounts, loans, property and credit cards.
Trust-based DC investment schemes

Some organisations are most comfortable keeping pensions governance in-house, but would still benefit from leading-edge, trust-based investment – as well as administration services, and member communications that really engage.

If that sounds familiar, our bundled DC investment solutions could be for you.

Click here. to find out how it works.

Investment-only DC pension solutions

Some clients are happy operating their own plan governance but recognise that even a nimble Trustee team can’t react to industry or market changes as quickly as their members might expect.

For such clients, our market leading Delegated DC Investment offering allows you to ensure your members are invested in Aon’s global research team’s view of best in class funds at charging levels that reflect our global scale in the market. Our teams work day in day out to ensure that new ideas and managers are assessed, existing managers monitored and funds changed where circumstances justify this.

Public Health

Asbestos

Exposure to asbestos can be a serious health risk if asbestos-containing material is disturbed in such a way that the particles and fibers become airborne. Symptoms of asbestos-related diseases, such as shortness of breath, coughing, and chest pain, often do not appear until 20 to 50 years after the exposure.

If you are concerned about health problems associated with asbestos exposure during your military service, talk to your health care provider or local VA Environmental Health Coordinator .

How Veterans may have been exposed to asbestos

Veterans who served in any of the following occupations may have been exposed to asbestos: mining, milling, shipyard work, insulation work, demolition of old buildings, carpentry and construction, manufacturing and installation of products such as flooring and roofing.

Veterans who served in Iraq and other countries in that region could have been exposed to asbestos when older buildings were damaged and the contaminant released into the air.

Health problems associated with exposure to asbestos

Breathing asbestos mainly causes problems in the lungs and the membrane that surrounds the lungs, including:

  • Asbestosis. Scarring of lung tissue that causes breathing problems, usually in workers exposed to asbestos in workplaces before the Federal government began regulating asbestos use (mid-1970s).
  • Pleural plaques. Scarring in the inner surface of the ribcage and area surrounding the lungs that can cause breathing problems, though usually not as serious as asbestosis. People living in areas with high environmental levels of asbestos, as well as workers, can develop pleural plaques.
  • Cancer. The two types of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos are lung cancer and mesothelioma, a cancer of the thin lining surrounding the lung (pleural membrane) or abdominal cavity (the peritoneum). Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer usually caused by asbestos exposure.

Learn more about asbestos and its health effects from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

Health concerns?

If you are concerned about health problems associated with exposure to asbestos during your military service, talk to your health care provider or local VA Environmental Health Coordinator .

VA offers a variety of health care benefits to eligible Veterans. Not enrolled in the VA health care system? Find out if you qualify for VA health care .

Compensation benefits for health problems

Veterans may file a claim for disability compensation for health problems they believe are related to exposure to asbestos during military service. VA decides these claims on a case-by-case basis. File a claim online .

The Benefits of Purchasing a Multi-Trip Annual Travel Insurance Policy #travel

The Benefits of Purchasing a Multi-Trip Annual Travel Insurance Policy

Updated: June 27, 2011

While it may not actually be a secret, many people are unfamiliar with the annual, multi-trip travel insurance policy. Unlike single-trip policies that only cover you for one trip, an annual travel insurance policy offer you emergency medical coverage for every trip you take within 12 months of buying your policy.

Add it up and save

At first glance, getting annual travel insurance may seem like overkill, but just think of how many times you may have travelled in the last year: family vacations, business trips (get tips for business travellers ), spring break getaways, and weekend jaunts across the border for shopping or sporting events. Add it all up and often an annual policy works out to be cheaper than purchasing a single-trip policy per trip in a year and in some cases, it’s even cheaper than buying just one!

The annual policy advantage

An annual travel plan is valid for 12 months, and you can travel as many times as you like during the year, as long as you don’t exceed the maximum trip duration for the policy which you’ve purchased, generally 15 days in length. There is more choice than this however, including nine, 16, and 18-day multi-trip travel insurance plans as well, so there is room for flexibility.

The biggest advantage of purchasing annual travel insurance is that you don’t need to arrange for emergency medical coverage for each separate trip you take, which means you’re not only saving money, but time as well.

How the savings can apply to you

While every person’s travelling situation is unique, the following realistic scenarios show how an annual policy might be the right choice when it comes time to buy travel insurance in Canada .*

Single 25-year olds

Do you take frequent trips for some cross-border shopping. Travel to the U.S. for sporting events? If you take more than 2 weekend trips a year, you’ll save money with an annual policy.

Couples between the ages of 25-35

For couples, where coverage applies to both travellers, all it takes for an annual policy to be the cost-effective purchase is:

  • Two weekend trips and a one-week holiday, or
  • One two-week holiday and one jaunt across the border for a weekend.

Families with children

If you’re a family with young children and you typically take one two-week vacation a year, it may cost less to get an annual travel insurance policy, where coverage applies to all family members, rather than getting a single-trip travel insurance policy.

Couples aged 60-70

Do you take more than two 14-day vacations a year? You may save on your travel insurance by purchasing annual travel insurance over single-trip insurance.

Annual travel insurance can save you money

So whether you’re already a frequent traveller, or are planning to travel a fair bit over the next year, getting annual travel insurance may save you more than you think.

Using KANETIX, compare multi-trip travel insurance quotes to see if based on your unique travelling schedule you could be saving money with an annual travel insurance policy today.

Looking for more money-saving travel insurance tips? Don’t forget to:

* The cost comparisons between the single trip and multi-trip policies referred to in this article are based on quotes obtained in June, 2011.

The Benefits of Traveling

Many people ponder what they should do for a vacation and I realized a lot of people don’t seem to share my views about traveling. I believe it s very important to see the world and different cultures. It lets us open our minds to new things and we get to experience life in exiting different ways.

Traveling gives us the opportunity to disconnect from our regular life. You get to forget your problems/issues for a few weeks, it can also help you figure things out that you would not have understood without the distance traveling can give you. We all have crazy schedules, work and a family to take care of, going away alone or with some friends can give you distance and perhaps even make you realize how important these people are for you generic viagra 100mg. Like the saying says: we never know what we have until we lose it.

Another great benefit is the relaxation you get to do. It’s nice to live life to its fullest and enjoy a stress free time with yourself. Going on vacation lets us recharge our “batteries” by disconnecting us from our regular life. When we come back we feel invigorated and we are happy to be back in our day to day routine. It’s a very good stress remover that has a lot more to give than most people are willing to accept.

Traveling increases our knowledge and widens our perspective. To view new customs, different ways of living is fantastic for the mind. It gives us a new perspective about life and especially our life, it can help us change some of our habits or even create new ones. When I travel I usually make it a point to try new food, some cultures don t have fries in their diet and they are all skinny, others use spices to give taste and not oils or fats. Discovering different values and ways to get by in life is really interesting. You also need to visit exotic new places and discover what this wonderful world has to offer.

New experiences increase our resourcefulness by living situations you would never encounter at home, this is great experience for you when you come back to your routine. I have noticed that people who traveled a lot in life were ready to embrace change and have a natural ability of overcoming problems that others would frown upon.

When traveling with friends or family it creates memories for a lifetime. These memories will create a bond that nothing can erase no matter what happens with the friendship/relationship. It can also give a new perspective on the relationship and cement the bond forever. It also gives nice stories to tell people afterwards, you can create photo albums about your trips and when you feel nostalgic you can take an hour of your life and experience the trips again by looking at your pictures.

It’s never been this cheap to travel. With soaring oil prices the cheap travel era might be coming to an end. However there are still many budget airlines fighting for your dollar right now. With the internet and all the new technology, you can plan your trip exactly the way you want it. You can choose your budget, the duration of the trip and what you want to do. I suggest to read travel blogs and see what others are experiencing, you can save yourself a few hurdles by reading about their trip.

If you have some time off I suggest to take that trip and experience what life has to offer. Don’t wait or tell yourself there will be a better time to go. Take the risk, the opportunity and buy your plane ticket right now and leave. When you come back you won’t be sorry that you left, on the contrary you will be thinking of your next trip the second you come back from the airport.

Feel free to let me know how traveling helped you out, what new experiences you lived and how they helped you in your life.
