HVAC and Free Online Training, Career Trend, online hvac courses free.#Online

    HVAC and Free Online Training

    Online hvac courses free

HVAC is an acronym that stands for “Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.” HVAC refers to building and automotive systems that control and regulate air flow and temperature. HVAC maintenance is a career field that the Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates to be excellent in terms of job growth despite the economy, with special consideration given to HVAC technicians with standard or formal training at an accredited professional institution.

    HVAC Maintenance Technicians

    Online hvac courses free

HVAC maintenance technicians are in high demand because their skills are needed to diagnose, repair and prevent HVAC issues. An HVAC technician possesses specialized maintenance skills and training that allows him to fix motorized gears, replace system fluids and recognize when HVAC systems are in need of emergency work.

    HVAC Training & Education

Professional HVAC training is said to be a sound investment to be successful in this career field. As of May 2009, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported an annual average salary of $41,000 for HVAC technicians in the United States. Depending on one’s needs, HVAC training is available at one of several professionally accredited institutions, with varying levels of expertise being taught.

    Is Free Online Training Available?

    Online hvac courses free

While HVAC technicians can earn professional training at a number of accredited career and professional institutions, there are distance learning and online programs available for those who are interested. Certification and training program costs vary by institution, but financial aid is available for individuals who may qualify, depending on the school’s accreditation status. Most schools provide tools and materials that also allow professional students to gain hands-on experience as they learn.

There is a limited amount of information available, however, on free online HVAC training. Free online resources for HVAC technicians appear to be helpful, but they don’t replace the value of strong professional guidance in this career field. Instead, these free online HVAC training resources appear to be of better service as a supplement to professional training and real hands-on experience.

    The Web Developer Bootcamp #web #developer #courses #online

    The Web Developer Bootcamp

Hi! Welcome to the Web Developer Bootcamp, the only course you need to learn web development. There are a lot of options for online developer training, but this course is without a doubt the most comprehensive and effective on the market. Here’s why:

    • This is the only online course taught by a professional bootcamp instructor.
    • 94% of my bootcamp students go on to get full-time developer jobs. Most of them are complete beginners when I start working with them.
    • The previous 2 bootcamp programs that I taught cost $14,000 and $21,000. This course is just as comprehensive but with brand new content for a fraction of the price.
    • Everything I cover is up-to-date and relevant to today’s developer industry. No PHP or other dated technologies. This course does not cut any corners.
    • This is the only complete beginner full-stack developer course that covers NodeJS.
    • We build 13+ projects, including a gigantic production application called YelpCamp. No other course walks you through the creation of such a substantial application.
    • The course is constantly updated with new content, projects, and modules. Think of it as a subscription to a never-ending supply of developer training.
    • You get to meet my dog Rusty!

When you’re learning to program you often have to sacrifice learning the exciting and current technologies in favor of the “beginner friendly” classes. With this course, you get the best of both worlds. This is a course designed for the complete beginner, yet it covers some of the most exciting and relevant topics in the industry.

Throughout the course we cover tons of tools and technologies including:

This course is also unique in the way that it is structured and presented. Many online courses are just a long series of “watch as I code” videos. This course is different. I’ve incorporated everything I learned in my years of teaching to make this course not only more effective but more engaging. The course includes:

    • Lectures
    • Code-Alongs
    • Projects
    • Exercises
    • Research Assignments
    • Slides
    • Downloads
    • Readings
    • Too many pictures of my dog Rusty

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I got into this industry because I love working with people and helping students learn. Sign up today and see how fun, exciting, and rewarding web development can be!

    Какова целевая аудитория?

    • This course is for anyone who wants to learn about web development, regardless of previous experience
    • It s perfect for complete beginners with zero experience
    • It s also great for anyone who does have some experience in a few of the technologies(like HTML and CSS) but not all

    Online Courses

Before you search through our database of Online Australian Courses, please take the time to read the below as it may help you to decide if Online Learning is right for you.
    So, what’s it all about?

So what’s Online Learning all about?

Unless you are directly involved with teaching online or have taken an online course yourself, chances are that you find the concept of online education a little scary. You might not have any interest in it. Terms like distance education, fully online, blended courses, virtual courses, e-learning, hybrid courses, mixed-mode, asynchronous learning, distributed learning, Web-facilitated, and Web-enhanced learning add to the confusion. However, online learning is on the rise due to the developments and affordability of computing and you should know some of the basics and issues surrounding it.

    The Advantages of Studying Online

Considering the fact that there are numerous benefits that are linked to education and advancing your qualifications, there are as yet far more advantages for people who pursue online education as to achieve their goals. Some of the most basic benefits of studying online include:

Online learning classes can be taken during a lunch break, while your children are out playing games, or even while you are cooking dinner! It is not necessary for you to be present in a classroom at any fixed time for the next two or four years so as to complete your qualification. But this does not mean that you would not be required to work at all. You would be required to do the same type of study as a traditional campus based student, that too within a particular time limit. The only flexibility you would enjoy is that you can study and finish your work at any time of the day.

Another wonderful thing about studying online these days is that you get to know your classmates and tutors more intimately. Online chat rooms, emails, course work forums etc allow students to ask questions, share ideas and seek help if needed. In fact, some say that studying online is more interactive than the traditional face to face student given the vast array of available technologies.

The best part about studying online is that education comes to you no matter where you are as long as you have a computer connected to the Internet. So wherever you are, at home, at work, or your favourite beach or park, you can easily access your course work and enjoy the environment in which you are completing your studies.

Say goodbye to all financial issues like convenience meals, childcare expenses, as well as the money would have had to spend reach campus thirty minutes away. With the availability of online courses, you can study from the comfort of your own home, without having to face the many financial hardships that come with having to attend traditional college.

    Personalised Attention for All

Students who enrol in online programs get to receive a much more individualised attention from their tutors as compared to the attention students who study in traditional classes. Online education classes are virtual and students and teachers basically correspond with each other through emails, telephone calls etc. This is one reason why your tutors would know more about you, your learning pattern and your requirements as compared to the students they get to see three or four times a week.

These are some of the most basic advantages of online study and one should closely look at both the benefits and the disadvantages of online education before making a decision. Make sure that the course you are taking is one which would help you grow professionally and not one you would repent taking.

Career Facts – Accounting Program – Business and Economics Department –

    Accounting Program Career Facts

    What They Do:

Accountants and auditors prepare, analyze, and verify financial reports and taxes and monitor information systems that furnish this information to managers in business, industry, and government.

The major fields of accounting are public, management, and government accounting. Public accountants have their own businesses or work for public accounting firms. They perform a broad range of accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting activities for their clients, who may be corporations, governments, nonprofit organizations, or individuals. Management accountants (also called industrial, corporate, or private accountants) record and analyze the financial information of the companies for which they work. Other responsibilities include budgeting, performance evaluation, cost management, and asset management Government accountants and auditors maintain and examine the records of government agencies and audit private businesses and individuals whose activities are subject to government regulations or taxation.

Within each field, accountants often concentrate on one aspect of accounting. For example, many public accountants concentrate on tax matters, such as preparing individual income tax returns and advising companies of the tax advantages and disadvantages of certain business decisions.

Increasing numbers of accounting graduates are working in private corporations. Management accountants analyze and interpret the financial information corporate executives need to make sound business decisions. They also prepare financial reports for non-management groups, including stockholders, creditors, regulatory agencies, and tax authorities. Within accounting departments, they may work in financial analysis, planning and budgeting, cost accounting, and other areas.

    Who Would Enjoy It:

People with accounting jobs understand information systems and are skilled at working with computers to gather, report, and interpret information. Skills in human relations and interviewing are essential because accountants need to understand and solve financial problems for other people.

Accounting covers a wide variety of jobs including Financial Reporting, Income Tax Research and Preparation, Information Systems Design, Auditing, Budget Preparation, and Cost Accounting. Levels of accounting jobs range from clerical bookkeeping to Vice-President of Finance/Chief Financial Officers.

    What They Earn:

The average starting salary for someone with a bachelor s degree is about $35,000 per year, yet salaries ranged from $30,000 to $40,000. Those with 1 to 3 years experience will increase to about $50,000 a year, with salaries ranging from $30,000 and $60,000 in the higher management positions. After 10 to 15 years of experience in this field, one may earn up to $110,000 per year. Starting salaries with an associate degree vary with the individual s education and work experience. Bookkeeping jobs for students working on a degree vary from $8.00 per hour on up depending upon education and experience.

    How Many Jobs Available:

Employment of accountants and auditors is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through the year 2014. Each year, several hundred thousand jobs for bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks will become available as these clerks transfer to other occupations or leave the labor force. The large size of the occupation ensures plentiful job openings, including many opportunities for temporary and part-time work.

How Much Schooling, Training, or Skill Development:

Most professional accountant and internal auditor positions require at least a bachelor s degree in accounting or a related field. However, many employers are beginning to prefer candidates who have earned a master s degree. A variety of bookkeeping and paraprofessional accounting jobs are available for people with less than an associate degree. There appears to be a growing trend for these jobs to request a minimum of an associate degree.

Accountants traditionally have been detail-oriented and that is still important, but modern accountants require a much broader set of abilities. The modern accountant needs highly developed analytical skills to deal with the ever-changing business environment. Good oral and written communication skills are a necessity. Interpersonal skills are highly desirable. The ability to effectively work with computers is a necessity. Computerization lessened the focus on repetitive, detail-oriented work in accounting in favor of analysis and communication.

Based on recommendations made by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, most states currently require CPA candidates to complete 150 semester hours of college coursework. Students already holding a bachelor s degree in another field who earn an associate degree in accounting may meet the educational qualifications for the CPA examination and entry into professional levels of accounting. In Michigan, the 150-hour law can be met with LCC classes if the student has a 4-year degree already.

Learn About Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)

    The Basics

What you ll do: Working closely with patients, you are responsible for basic care services such as bathing, grooming and feeding patients, assisting nurses with medical equipment, and checking patient vital signs. CNAs give patients important social and emotional support and also provide vital information on patient conditions to nurses.

Where you ll work: Hospitals, nursing care facilities, community care facilities for the elderly

Degree you ll need: High school diploma or GED and completion of a 6-to-12 week CNA certificate program

    Median annual salary: $25,090*

    Who Are Certified Nursing Assistants?

A certified nursing assistant (CNA) job puts you on the front lines of patient care. Nursing assistants are vital to daily operations in hospitals and nursing care facilities. Your compassion and skill in patient care will help minimize the stress of those who are sick or unable to care for themselves.

Certified nursing assistants, sometimes called nurses aides, orderlies, patient care technicians, and home health aides, work under the supervision of a nurse to help patients with daily living tasks.

    Role of a CNA

The role of a CNA is to assist patients with everyday tasks such as eating, bathing and dressing. Many CNAs develop close bonds with their patients because they spend a significant amount of time together.

As a CNA, you ll rarely have two days that are completely alike. Your responsibilities will depend on the time of your shift and the type of facility you work in. For example, if you work a night shift in a hospital, you ll get an update from the day shift RN when you arrive at work. You ll take vital signs and ensure patients have what they need for the night. Your nights won t necessarily be quiet, however. You ll answer call lights, empty catheters, help patients who may be going in for surgery and provide general support to patients who are upset or uncomfortable.

Meanwhile, the role of CNA during a day shift will include preparing patients for the day ahead; washing, dressing and feeding breakfast will be some of the first tasks of the morning. As a CNA, you ll need to be organized and efficient since you ll often be managing multiple patients at once. For instance, as breakfast is going on, you may be called to change bedsheets.

CNAs not only offer support to their patients, but they help RNs as well. You ll maintain charts and provide reports to the incoming shift. Nurses may also ask you to round up certain medical supplies, admit new patients or prepare a room.

CNAs perform many of the same tasks in a nursing home, but there are a few differences. In a hospital, patients will have meals brought to them whereas nursing home patients may need assistance to the dining room. You ll answer call lights throughout the day or night and help patients get comfortable in their room or move about the facility. Depending on the nursing home, you may be assigned to a certain hall or area.

    Similar Health Care Roles

Not all states use certified nursing assistant as a job title. Depending on your location, you may be called nursing assistant or nursing aide.

CNA roles are entry-level and while some of their tasks are similar to those of medical assistants or orderlies, you ll have more responsibility in this job. CNAs provide medical treatment to patients whereas orderlies are not permitted to do so. Instead, they clean equipment and rooms and transport patients. A medical assistant, like a CNA, has more interaction with patients, such as taking vital signs. However, their role includes more clerical and administrative work, such as booking appointments and collecting a patient s personal information.

According to ONET. here s what you can expect as a CNA in the workplace.

    • 85% of CNAs said they had face-to-face discussions every day.
    • 71% of CNAs said they were in very close physical proximity to patients.
    • 51% of CNAs said they spend time walking or running continually or almost continually.

Because of the regular interaction with patients and other medical staff, CNAs need to be dependable, cooperative and able to cope with stressful situations on a regular basis.

    CNA Pay and Benefits

CNA pay and benefits will depend on where you work, but the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) 2016-17 Occupational Outlook Handbook lists the annual median salary for CNAs as $25,090.

It s important to note that many CNAs are paid on an hourly basis so you may have an opportunity to pick up more hours to fill in for other CNAs who are using sick or vacation time.

Your geographic location is also a factor in how much you can make as a certified nursing assistant. Some larger cities pay more than their smaller and less expensive counterparts.

Although CNA pay and benefits may not be robust, there are plenty of benefits to becoming a certified nursing assistant. Not only will you get the fulfillment of knowing you re helping others feel better, but it can also be a solid stepping stone in your nursing career. If you decide to head back to school to become an RN, some programs will give you credit for CNA work experience.

How Do I Become a CNA?

If you re striving to become a CNA, there s good news. The BLS predicts faster than average job growth through 2024. Specifically, employment is supposed to increase by 17 percent. The national average is 7 percent.

To become a CNA, you ll need a high school diploma or GED, plus nursing assistant training. You can find these programs at community colleges, trade schools and medical facilities. Before enrolling, be sure the program is approved by your state s nursing board.

Once you ve completed your coursework, you ll need to take a state exam. You ll be tested on your basic nursing knowledge and skills. Aspiring CNAs will be expected to correctly answer questions about daily living activities, patient/client rights, communication, legal and ethical behavior and working as a health care team member, among other topics.

If you re concerned about the content of a CNA exam, you can find study preparation materials online. Here are a few sample questions:

    • How should a nursing assistant obtain the most accurate weight of a patient?
    • Who can you share a patient s personal information with?
    • What are the best ways to show a patient you are listening?

    Education Certification

You can complete your certified nursing assistant program in a very short period of time. In addition to a high school diploma or GED, you ll need to complete a 6-to-12 week CNA certificate program at a community college or medical facility.

Classroom instruction in a certified nursing assistant program generally includes the following:

    • Basic nursing skills
    • Anatomy and physiology
    • Nutrition
    • Infection control

Students also gain plenty of hands-on-experience during clinical activities.

Regulations on nursing assistant certification vary from state-to-state. However, most CNA programs offer a certification exam. The National Association for Home Care offers national certification for home health aides.

It s not uncommon for CNAs to advance their career by going back to school. If you want to become a registered nurse, you can earn an associate s or bachelor s degree. The former takes about two years to complete, but there are CNA-to-RN bridge programs available. This allows nursing students to complete their schooling in less than two years. Just keep in mind that an RN, BSN tends to open more doors for an advancement and opportunity in a nursing career.

    CNA Licensure

To earn CNA licensure, you ll need to pass a state-issued competency exam. You ll complete a multiple choice portion of the test and in most cases, you ll need to demonstrate certain skills in a clinical setting.

In order to keep your CNA licensure active, most states require that CNAs complete 48 hours of continuing education every two years. Your state board can provide you with the most up-to-date information on licensing requirements.

When your license is up for renewal, check with your employer about continuing education subsidization. Many places will cover the cost of classes for their employees.

    Coach Education Program #soccer #management #courses, #coach #education #| #training #certifications

    Coach Education Program

As the governing body for soccer in Canada the Canadian Soccer Association is responsible for training coaches from grassroots to national team level. With the increasing number of players registering with clubs across the country this represents a considerable challenge. In order to meet this challenge the Association has developed the Canada Soccer Pathway (LTPD) and tailored the Coach Education Program to this Model. As a result a two-streamed education program has been developed in conjunction with the NCCP and our provincial/territorial partners that we feel will meet the needs of both developing coaches and the sport itself.

The Streams through which a coach may enter and/or advance are:

    • Community Coach Stream
    • Licensing Stream

Each of these Streams include a number of courses designed to prepare coaches for working with players in a specific stage of development as outlined in the LTPD Model.

Phase 1 – The Community Coach Stream

The Community Sport Stream has four courses based on Stages 1, 2, 3, and 7 of the Long Term Player Development Model. The first three courses, Active Start. FUNdamentals and Learn to Train. deal with soccer training and the importance of physical literacy for players up to 12 years of age. The fourth course in this Stream is called Soccer for Life and focuses attention on working with players between the ages of 13 through to masters soccer ; which includes a wide array of participants who play for fun and fitness; those who enjoy recreational soccer as well as those who prefer to play competitively but not at the high performance level.

Coaches wishing to gain training through the Community Sport Stream would do so in the following manner:

    • Active Start Course: Completion of a training course totaling 3 hours (Active Start Stage of Development players U-4/U-6). No pre-requisites required.
    • FUNdamentals Course: Completion of the training course totaling 7 hours, plus take NCCP Make Ethical Decisions Module (Fundamentals Stage of Development Boys U-6/U-9 and Girls U-6/U-8). No pre-requisites required.

    • Active Start/FUNdamentals Course: Completion of this combined course totaling 10 hours, plus take NCCP Make Ethical Decisions Module (Active Start Stage of Development players U-4/U-6 and Fundamentals Stage of Development Boys U-6/U-9 and Girls U-6/U-8). No pre-requisites required.
    • Learn to Train Course: Completion of the training course totaling 14 hours plus take NCCP Make Ethical Decisions Module (Learning to Train Stage of Development Boys U-9/U-12 and Girls U-8/U-11). No pre-requisites required.
    • Soccer for Life Course: Completion of a training course totaling 14 hours, plus take NCCP Make Ethical Decisions Module (Soccer for Life Stage of Development Boys U-13 and Girls U-12 and older). No pre-requisites required.

Note. coaches do not undergo an official evaluation process in the Community Sport Stream, therefore they are not designated on their NCCP transcript as a Certified Coach. These courses provide training only in developmental stage specific areas of coaching. With this in mind coaches taking part in these courses will receive the status of Trained Coach (or will be considered In Training if they have still to complete a module of the particular course they have taken).

    Phase 1 – Licensing Stream

As Phase 1 delivery of the new Coach Education Program does not include the Licensing Stream, in the interim coaches can still take the existing Licensing courses until the Phase 2 launches in 2013. A coach wishing to enter the Licensing Stream must first pass a formal evaluation after attending a B License Pre-Test Course held within his/her Province.

The Licensing Stream is aimed at those who are more serious about their coaching development, and requires that coaches reach a minimum standard of competence in a practical coaching environment. Each coach is, therefore, formally evaluated and graded by Staff Evaluators at each stage of the process. This process begins with the B License Program. which involves a total of 60 hours of facilitated learning plus time allocated for formal assessments. It is aimed at coaches working with players in an environment where performance is a critical factor in successful coaching. The A License Program includes a total of 90 hours of facilitated learning, plus formal assessments, and caters to those wishing to make a career of coaching at the highest level.

Coaches wishing to gain training and certification in the Licensing Stream would do so in the following manner:

    • B License Pre-Test Course: Completion of a 21-hour training course and an official evaluation (Training to Train Stage of Development).
Pre-requisites: Community Coach or Soccer for Life Trained status, or ex-Professional/National Team Player (minimum 3 years experience)
    • B License-Provincial Course: Completion of the training course totaling 30 hours and an official evaluation process (Training to Train Stage of Development).
Pre-requisites: Successful completion of B License Pre-Test Course
    • B License-National Course: Completion of the training course totaling 40 hours and an official evaluation process (Training to Compete Stage of Development).
Pre-requisites: Successful completion of B License-Provincial Course or Canadian Equivalency
    • A License Course: Completion of the training course totaling 90 hours and an official evaluation process (Training to Compete Stage of Development).
Pre-requisites: Successful completion of the B License-National or Canadian Equivalency

Each of the courses within the program is built with an emphasis placed on the practical application of certain coaching skills, also known as competencies . These competencies are expanded upon as the coach progresses through the program and will range from showing an understanding of the rules of small-sided-soccer to running an effective practice with players in a high performance environment.

More information on this Coach Education Program can be obtained by contacting us or your Provincial/Territorial Soccer Association.

    “Ode to a School Horse”

Way back when, think very hard, of the very first horse you ever rode. The unsung hero upon whose back you timidly, but safely strode.

He toils thru his classes, new riders each trip. New set of signals, a different grip.

They pull on his mouth when they want him to go. Then they hit him a crack for going too slow!

They bounce on his back and wobble all around And are sure it’s “his” fault if they hit the ground!

They lean forward and squeeze heels in his flanks. If he lays back his ears, they call him a “crank”!

They jerk his poor mouth; pull his head to and fro, “Why doesn’t he trot, I told him to go?”

When riders get better, they leave him behind. A better horse they are off to find.

A better horse they’ll never find, Than the dear old school horse they left behind!

80,000 UK students are told they can’t train as a nurse: Thousands can’t get on courses despite four in five new NHS workers being foreign

By Sophie Borland Health Correspondent for the Daily Mail 00:15 BST 18 Dec 2014, updated 13:47 BST 24 Dec 2014

80,000 UK students are told they can’t train as a nurse: Thousands can’t get on courses despite four in five new NHS workers being foreign

    • Nurses in their 40s who left to start families can’t find jobs to return to
    • It has emerged that it costs NHS £70,000 to train a nurse for three years
    • But for the same amount it can hire three qualified foreigners
    • Hospitals recruited almost 6,000 overseas nurses last year
    • Estimated there are 100,000 applicants a year for 20,000 training places in
    • Government has cut number of places, from 20,829 in 2009/10 to 17,219 in 2012/13 – although it rose last year to 19,206

Up to 80,000 British students each year cannot find places on nursing courses even though the NHS is hiring thousands from abroad, it was revealed yesterday.

And nurses in their 40s who left to start families say they are unable to find jobs to come back to, apparently because they are going to younger European candidates.

It also emerged it costs the NHS £70,000 to train a nurse for three years – but for the same amount it could hire three qualified foreigners on an average salary of £23,000.

Up to 80,000 British students each year cannot find places on nursing courses even though the NHS is hiring thousands from abroad

Hospitals recruited almost 6,000 overseas nurses last year, a four-fold increase on the previous year.

Four out of five new NHS nurses are foreign, with managers flying to Spain and Portugal to hire up to 50 at a time. Dr Peter Carter, of the Royal College of Nursing, yesterday accused the Government of ‘lamentable workforce planning’.

‘We’ve now got a crisis and we’ve got trusts recruiting from all points of the compass,’ he added.

Dr Sarah Wollaston, the chairman of the Health Select Committee, said it was ‘time to deliver’ the workforce the NHS needs and to give thousands of young Britons a chance. The RCN estimates there are 100,000 applicants a year for the 20,000 training places in Britain.

In recent years the Government has cut the number of places, from 20,829 in 2009/10 to 17,219 in 2012/13 – although it rose last year to 19,206.

Figures released on Tuesday show that hospitals hired 5,778 foreign nurses last year, up from 1,360 the year before.

There are fears that severe staffing shortages are leading managers to lower the bar for recruits’ English skills.

Dr Carter told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that it was ‘totally unacceptable’ for hospitals not to give proper English tests.

And Dr Wollaston criticised the ‘yo-yo of recruitment’, adding: ‘It’s time for [training] schemes to deliver on the right numbers of nurses and doctors for today’s NHS and increase the opportunities for the thousands of British applicants.’

In the past, training nurses was far cheaper because they could learn as apprentices in hospitals. But a system brought in during the 1990s required all nurses to have a degree.

Last month the Mail visited a recruitment fair in Porto, Portugal, where Bedford Hospital hired 25 nurses. They were offered contracts without any formal English tests and some were even given help filling in the application form.

Joana Duarte, 22, Daniela Soares, 22, Mariana Santos, 22 and Diana Silva, 22 (pictured left to right) from Porta all attended the Bedford hospital recruitment fair as there are no jobs for them in Portugal

Meanwhile, readers have told the MailOnline website of their own families’ difficulties with finding jobs in the NHS. One man wrote that his wife worked at a hospital in Devon but left in 2004 to start a family.

She tried to return to the NHS after taking a refresher course, but was unable to find a job.

At one interview she was one of 13 candidates for five jobs, which all went to EU nurses.

Another said her daughter, a nurse, found jobs ‘were all filled by overseas candidates. She had no choice but to work in the private sector.’

A third said: ‘My English granddaughter is desperate to train to be a midwife.

‘She has passed English and Maths GCSE, but still has to take a test in these subjects before she can even get an interview at a university.’

A Department of Health spokesman said there were 5,000 more nurses on wards than in May 2010 and 1,000 extra training places this year. The department has started a £5million campaign to get retired nurses back to work.

    • A spokesman for Bedford Hospital NHS Trust said:‘Like many trusts, difficulties in recruiting locally and nationally meant it undertook additional overseas recruitment. The interview panel in Portugal included senior nurses from the Trust and the process included written tests followed by rigorous interviews in English, testing listening skills and reasoning applied to nursing practice, including drug calculations. The applicants are also asked to write a care plan. Trust staff did not help applicants complete their forms and it is not willing to employ nurses who have a limited command of English. A number of nurses were not offered contracts for this reason.’
