MPhil in Theology

Information for Prospective MPhil DPhil Students – Download

Rules for Degrees of Master of Philosophy – Download

Syllabuses for Degrees of Master of Philosophy – Download

Our uniquely designed MPhil in Theology programme, with its strong interdisciplinary and ecumenical emphases, is rooted in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and, at the same time, it seeks to contribute to its growth and development from specifically South African perspectives. Masters in Theology at St Augustine College comes in three specialisations: Fundamental Systematic Theology, Christian Spirituality and Pastoral Theology, though the last one is not being offered in 2015-2016. The fourth specialisation in Canon Law, once available at the College, may be reoffered should there be sufficient number of students interested in that option.

The uniqueness of this programme lies in the fact that it combines contact modules with independent study. Modules are scheduled four times during the year. The students attend one week of intensive lectures (usually timed to coincide with the school holidays) and then complete further requirements independently in the following 9 or 10 weeks. The degree requires seven ‘taught’ modules and a subsequent research paper of 18,000 words under the supervision of a lecturer. An Honours degree is required for admittance to the programme, however it need not be in an area directly related to Theology. It is also possible to do an MPhil degree entirely by research should the student qualify on the basis of their previous study and research record.

All MPhil Theology Students (But for Canon Law) must take the following core modules:

  • MPHP 501: DIGNITY OF THE HUMAN PERSON
  • MPHT 549: BIBLICAL STUDIES
  • MPHP 508: PHILOSOPHY OF RELIGION
  • MPHT 538: GENERAL SURVEY OF THEOLOGY (unless exempt due to previous studies in theology)
  • And a RESEARCH PAPER of 18,000 words in the area of specialisation.

SPECIALISATION IN FUNDAMENTAL SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY (MPTSFST)

SPECIALISATION IN CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY (MPTSCS)

  • MPHT 531: CHRISTIAN SPIRITUAL TRADITION (required)
  • MPHT 532: DYAMICS OF SPIRITUALITY (required)
  • MPHT 533: MYSTICISM (elective)
  • MPHT 524: SPIRITUALITY AND PSYCHOLOGY (elective)
  • MPHT 530: BIBLICAL SPIRITUALITY (elective)

SPECIALISATION IN CANON LAW (MPTSCL)

  • MPHT515 HISTORY, THEOLOGY AND PRINCIPLES OF CANON LAW
  • MPHT516 THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH AND PARTICULAR CHURCHES
  • MPHT517 THE CHRISTIAN FAITHFUL
  • MPHT536 THE MINISTRY OF TEACHING AND SANCTIFYING
  • MPHT513 THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
  • MPHT519 TEMPORAL GOODS AND SANCTIONS IN THE CHURCH
  • MPHT520 PROCESSES AND TRIBUNALS

*If a student has not done previous studies in theology, the student must take the General Survey of Theology ( MPHT538)

Master s Cyber Security Degree Programs

Master s Cyber Security Degree Programs

With government hacks and security breaches in some of our largest industries, cybersecurity is a growing concern and also a great career choice. Earning a master degree in cyber security can give students the edge and make them an asset to potential employers. Continue reading and get the facts about earning a master’s in cyber security and what it all entails.

Cybersecurity master degree programs include curricula that teach all aspects of cybersecurity, from prevention and detection of threats to recovery and forensic investigation. Students also develop evidence collecting strategies to help find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Although master degree programs generally take about six years to complete, students entering this program are typically required to already have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Therefore, the degree should take about two years to earn. Individuals who don’t have an undergraduate degree may also choose to first earn a bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, according to U.S. News World Report.

There are two major differences or advantages for those in a master’s degree program. Unlike associate and bachelor degree programs, graduate programs do not require general education courses like math, English, etc. because these courses were most likely completed at the undergraduate level. In addition, internships are usually required as part of undergraduate programs. Therefore, the graduate program curriculum is dedicated to cybersecurity coursework.

Online Master s in Cyber Security Degree Programs

Making it even easier to earn a cybersecurity master degree is the fact that many schools offer this program online. Online learning makes it easy and convenient for an individual to earn the degree while continuing to work. In most cases, courses are 100% online and can be completed from home at the student’s convenience. Students learn through various methods including video lectures, MP3 lectures, e-mail, chat rooms and discussion boards.

Although online programs do let the students work at their own pace, many programs do have a time requirement in which the program must be completed.

Coursework to Expect for a MS Cyber Security Degree

Cybersecurity students will see courses like cyberspace and cybersecurity; cyber crime investigation and digital forensics; risk management; threat analysis; and disaster recovery. Students learn all aspects of computer safety including not only identifying potential cyber threats but preventing them from entering the network and implementing safety measures for the future.

Other courses a cybersecurity student might take are cryptography, network security, computer networking, digital forensics and ethical hacking. Most master degree programs also require the student to complete a capstone course, which is either a project or written report based on research.

Although this may vary by school, graduate programs also have specific admission requirements that must be met prior to enrollment. These may include bachelor’s degree in computer science, letters of recommendation, proof of completed prerequisite courses, transcripts, statement of purpose and a satisfactory GPA.

Degree Spotlight: Master s in Cyber Security

Because of the high need for qualified and highly educated cybersecurity specialists, master degree programs are offered at many colleges and universities. The University of Maryland University College. Roger Williams University and John Hopkins University all offer Master of Science in Cybersecurity programs. UMUC also offers a dual-degree program that allows the student to earn a Master of Science in Cybersecurity and a Master of Business Administration. This program is often chosen by students interested in leadership positions.

The program at Boston University Metropolitan College is offered both on campus and online. UMUC’s cybersecurity program is also an online program.

Cybersecurity master degree programs may not always be titled as such. Some schools offer a Master in Strategic Cyber Operations and Information Management program. Cybersecurity programs may also be titled as network security programs.

Specific Concentrations within the Master s in Cyber Security Program

Because cybersecurity is such a vast field, many cybersecurity programs also offer areas of concentration such as intelligence, computer forensics, cyber operations or information assurance. These concentrations allow the student to focus on a specific area of cybersecurity. For instance, the computer forensics track focuses on collecting evidence of cyber crimes so that the criminal can be taken to court. Information assurance focuses on ensuring data is secure and safe from outside access while cyber operations focuses on protecting the network and computer from cyber invasions.

Students taking the intelligence track learn to gather information to determine who and what are threats to the system. Cybersecurity can also be used as a concentration in other computer-related program, such as a Master of Criminal Justice with a concentration in cybercrime investigation and cybersecurity program.

Career Outlook for Those with a Master s in Cyber Security

Graduates of cybersecurity master degree programs generally have a wide variety of career options open to them upon graduation. These may include network and computer systems administrator, information security analyst, computer and information systems manager or information technology security architect. Both wages and employment outlook are very good for this field.

As of May 2014, according to the BLS, network and computer systems administrators earned an average annual wage of $75,790 while information security analysts earned about $88,890 and computer and information systems managers earned $127,640, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Burning Glass Technologies reports that employment growth for cybersecurity jobs is two times higher than other IT jobs. Another bonus for these workers is that they can usually choose from many different industries because cybersecurity is needed almost everywhere we look.

What You Can Do with a Degree in Sociology

Jose Luis Pelaez Inc/Getty Images

by Ashley Crossman

Updated May 16, 2017

A lot of people take their first sociology course simply to fulfill a college requirement, not knowing much about the field before stepping into that first course. Soon after, however, many fall in love with the subject matter and decide to major in it. If this is you, you may be asking yourself, “What can I do with a degree in sociology?”

Most people who think of themselves as sociologists or have the word sociologist in their job title, have graduate training, but B.A.s in sociology apply the sociological perspective to a wide variety of jobs in such sectors as business, the health professions, the criminal justice system, social services, and government.

As a strong liberal arts major, a B.A. in sociology provides several things:

  • The undergraduate degree provides broad preparation for entry level positions throughout the business, social service, non-profit, and government worlds. Employers look for people with the skills that an undergraduate education in sociology provides, like research, critical thinking, and analytic skills.
  • Since its subject matter is intrinsically fascinating, sociology offers valuable preparation for careers in journalism, politics, public relations, business, or public administration–fields that involve investigative skills and working with diverse groups.
  • Many students choose sociology because they see it as a broad liberal arts base for professions such as law, education, medicine, social work, and counseling. Sociology provides a rich fund of knowledge that directly pertains to each of these fields.

With advanced degrees (M.A.

or Ph.D.), the more likely it is that a job will have the title sociologist, but many opportunities exist–the diversity of sociological careers ranges much further. Many jobs outside of academia do not necessarily carry the specific title of sociologist. These include the following, among others:

  • Sociologists become high school teachers or faculty in colleges and universities, advising students, conducting research. and publishing their work. Over 3,000 colleges currently offer sociology courses.
  • Sociologists enter the corporate, non-profit, and government worlds as directors of research, policy analysts, consultants, human resource managers, and program managers.
  • Practicing sociologists with advanced degrees may be called research analysts, survey researchers. gerontologists, clinical sociologists. statisticians, urban planners, community developers, criminologists, or demographers.
  • Some M.A. and Ph.D. sociologists obtain specialized training to become counselors, therapists, or program directors in social service agencies.

Today, sociologists embark upon literally hundreds of career paths. Although teaching and conducting research remains the dominant activity among the thousands of professional sociologists today, other forms of employment are growing both in number and significance. In some sectors, sociologists work closely with economists, political scientists, anthropologists, psychologists, social workers, and others, reflecting a growing appreciation of sociology s contributions to interdisciplinary analysis and action.

To learn more about how sociology majors apply their degrees in various careers, read the American Sociological Association s report on the topic .

Management Degree vs. MBA?

What is the difference between our management degree and a traditional MBA? Program director Laura Wilcox answers this question and more for you here.

What is the difference between our master’s degree in the management field and a traditional MBA program?

The difference is primarily in program length, price, cohort structure with built-in community, and flexibility/accessibility.

1. We offer many, if not all, of the same core course topics that one would find in a traditional MBA program: accounting, communications, economics, finance, leadership, marketing, operations, organizational behavior, and strategy. The MBA, however, is ordinarily 20 courses and our program is 12. It is shorter, but we also attract working professionals with at least 7 to 10 years of work experience. Much more than the 2 to 3 years of work experience that students ordinarily have in traditional MBA programs.

2. The price for an MBA is roughly $60,000 (or much more for top tier programs); our degree is roughly $30,000. We offer students an outstanding educational value.

3. MBAs are usually full-time, on-campus, cohort programs that offer few part-time and online learning opportunities. Our courses are offered in the evenings or online so our students can continue to work. They don’t need to give up their jobs (and the annual income that goes along with those jobs) to earn a master’s degree. Our students can immediately apply what they learn in class to their jobs so they can put their education to work for them right away.

Top MBA programs offer structured cohort experiences that lend itself to community and networking. Our students may need to be more proactive in networking, but many appreciate the flexibility in choosing groups based on their interest or joining any one of the student organizations that support community building (Harvard Extension School Business Society, Harvard Extension Entrepreneurship and Real Estate Association, and Harvard Extension Management and Technology Society).

4. Our curriculum is flexible and accessible. We can easily add a new course in response to changing market needs and we try to make sure we have a number of courses offered in different formats to support learners of all types. We’re also fortunate to have excellent instructors from academia and industry who enjoy teaching our students. Harvard Extension School is highly regarded by employers and we offer all the relevant management courses at a convenient schedule and competitive price.

In sum, we believe that we offer the best continuing education management program in the country inspired by and designed for you, the working professional.

Have a question about our academic offerings?

Our Enrollment Services team can help.

Nursing Associate Degree (ADN) #nursing, #adn, #associate #degree

Majors

Nursing (RN)

  • Type of Degree: Associate of Science (AS)
  • Location: Williston Campus, White River Junction, St. Albans, Lyndon, Brattleboro, Newport, Springfield, Randolph Center Campus, Bennington
  • Program Accreditation: Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
  • Credit Requirements: 70
  • Related Programs: Nursing (BSN). Practical Nursing

Vermont Tech offers a career ladder progression approach for students to enter and advance in a nursing career. The career ladder approach is provided in a 1+1+2 model which allows for the completion of the Practical Nursing (PN) certificate, followed by the completion of the Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) leading to eligibility for RN licensure, and culminating with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Qualified students may be accepted into Vermont Tech’s Nursing program at any point (pre-PN, ADN, or BSN) and may progress through the bachelor’s degree or may choose to stop after receiving the PN or ADN credentials. If so, students may re-enter the program at a later time.

Vermont Tech also offers an LPN and an RN re-entry program. These programs are provided for LPNs and RNs whose licenses have lapsed and would like to have them reinstated. The LPN and RN re-entry programs update the nurse’s credentials, allowing them eligibility to return to a nursing position upon completion of the program. For further information about these programs, contact the Nursing department.

Nursing is a discipline and a profession, a science and an art grounded in caring that provides holistic care with respect and dignity while promoting the health of society. At Vermont Tech, collaboration among faculty and students encourages a spirit of inquiry, personal growth, and service. Nursing students have the opportunity to progress through a four-year, hands-on curriculum based on a career ladder model. Those students who choose to continue in the second-year Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program participate in practicums in a variety of settings under the supervision of nursing instructors.

Graduates’ NCLEX pass rates for licensure are higher than the national average. Students in our nursing programs also have high completion rates .

The PN and ADN programs are offered at four locations across the state with campuses in Bennington, Brattleboro, Randolph Center, and Williston and at distance education sites in Lyndonville, Middlebury, Newport, St. Albans, Springfield, and White River Junction. The BSN program is offered exclusively online. We’re a recognized leader in distance learning and health care simulation, which allows nursing students who practice in small rural communities across the state to experience lifelike medical situations. Our instructional curriculum is offered at distance education sites throughout the state, while the clinical experience takes place at local agencies. We also also provides the latest in simulation technology at its six simulation labs.

While Vermont Tech guarantees direct progression from the PN to the ADN program for qualified students, it cannot guarantee direct progression at the same site at which the PN certificate was obtained. Because of the competitive demand for ADN slots and the limitations of clinical ADN placements in some areas of the state, some students may have to continue their nursing studies at a site other than their first choice or the site at which the PN certificate was obtained.
Students progressing directly from the PN to the ADN level must request their first, second, and third site preference for the ADN education on their Nursing Direct Progress form.

Vermont Tech will assign first priority to students requesting to remain at their PN site in order of GPA. Once the ADN slots are filled for any site, Vermont Tech will try to place students in the ADN site of their next highest stated preferences if seats are available. Students whose first preference is to attend an ADN site other than the one where they took their PN program will be considered for the preferred site after qualified students attending that site for their PN have been offered a seat in that ADN program.

Students wishing to take off a semester or more after completing the PN or ADN program may apply for re-admittance to the nursing program through the regular nursing program admissions process, but will not be guaranteed admittance.

PN and ADN students must receive a grade of C+ or more in all NUR courses and a C in BIO and PSY courses in order to progress in the program. If a student in the last semester of the program does not achieve these grades, they will not be allowed to graduate.

Grades lower than the required 75 or 77 will be reflected on the transcript with the corresponding letter grade, so credits may be awarded for any grade above an F, but students will not continue to progress or graduate from the Nursing programs unless their grades conform with the standards stated here.

The ADN program articulates with the PN program and requires two further semesters of full-time study. Additionally, the twelve clinical credits earned in the PN program do not transfer to the ADN program.

ADN program graduates are awarded an Associate of Science in Nursing and are eligible to apply to take the NCLEX for Registered Nurses. The Vermont State Board of Nursing application requires information regarding past history of substance abuse, prior felony convictions, and failure to pay child support and/or taxes for all graduates. Other states may ask similar questions. It is the Board’s responsibility to determine eligibility to sit for the licensure examination and to issue the license to practice. For more information, please refer to http://vtprofessionals.org/opr1/nurses

To progress directly from the ADN to the BSN level, students must:

PhD Degree Programs in Accounting

A doctorate PhD in Accounting will earn you the title of “doctor.” A PhD program can be significantly more demanding than a Master’s degree, which is why most accountants finish their Master’s degree before committing to a PhD program. Some schools lump a Master’s degree and PhD into one continuous program, which may save time in the long run.

There are 536 doctoral programs for accounting in the United States. The average tuition cost is $18,833. However, the mean scholarship package is $9,108 and the average grant amount is $11,036. Due to the independent nature of most PhD programs, many programs allow students to take PhD classes online.

Unlike other accounting programs, getting a PhD means significant sacrifice and delay while earning your degree. A PhD accounting program takes, on average, 4-7 years to complete. You will have to complete 2-3 years of coursework. Each seminar in your coursework explores a different area of accounting and challenges you to think about it more deeply and examine it from all angles.

After completing coursework, students must produce independent projects and a thesis. While the coursework can be easily mapped out on a timeline, the dissertation is what draws out most students’ pursuit of a PhD. Finishing a dissertation in 2-3 years is possible with hard work and dedication.

Get admissions information on [Accounting]

The sacrifice of a PhD in Accounting comes in with your reduced work abilities. Due to the intense nature of a PhD program in Accounting, most students are unable to work more than part-time; many do not work at all. Many just take on research assistantships or teaching assistantships for undergraduate classes, which pay considerably less than a standard accounting job.

However, assuming that a student is willing to sacrifice for 4-7 years, their long-term income growth will far exceed what they could make without a PhD in Accounting. While no ongoing licensure is required for a PhD in Accounting, you may be required to produce original research to maintain your position at a university after graduating.

Tuition for a PhD in Accounting is fairly steep, averaging over $18,000 per year. Add the lost income for the years that you spend working on your PhD and the costs can seem very daunting. However, many universities will pay the tuition for a promising student. If you have a riveting or new idea for your thesis, you may be able to present it as a way to earn a grant or scholarship.

There are scholarships available on a national and local level as well. The AICPA offers scholarships for PhD students to try to increase the number of incoming accounting professors. The KPMG Foundation provides scholarships for minority students in a PhD program. Other scholarships and grants may be available through your school. Since the majority of PhD accounting students are Caucasian males, there are many scholarships available for women and minorities.

Those who would have otherwise ended their educational journey at a Master’s in Accounting may have continued because of the job security that a PhD in Accounting brings. Since 2005, accounting programs around the country have been facing a shortage of accounting professors. Professors are retiring faster than new PhD candidates are graduating to take their place. The majority of people who earn a PhD in Accounting will go on to become a professor. The rest will typically go on to perform research at an institute or university.

Because of the accounting professor shortage. schools are willing to pay a lot for accounting professors. The average salary for accounting professors under 45 is $101,000. 2/3 of universities that hire accounting professors expect to pay at least $135,000 to a new assistant accounting professor, which exceeds the national average for business professors.

What – s the Difference Between Accredited – Non-Accredited Degree Programs?

#

What’s the Difference Between Accredited & Non-Accredited Degree Programs?

Bob’s College of Engineer Knowledge may lure you in with promises of chips and salsa in the study lounge, but will it get you a job at NASA? Probably not. NASA wants people who have graduated from an accredited engineering program because these programs had to prove their worth. Keep reading to learn the difference between accredited and non-accredited degree programs.

What Is Program Accreditation?

To become accredited, a program has to prove that it meets or exceeds the industry standard. For most fields, there are one or several organizations of seasoned professionals who create these quality measurements. For example, if you did want to study engineering, you’d want a program that was accredited by ABET (formerly the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology). This board examines not only the program curriculum, but also the quality of learning you’ll receive in your course of study.

Important Facts About Accredited Degree Programs

Associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees available

Varies, depending upon intended institution of enrollment; associate and bachelor degree programs typically require a high school diploma, or equivalent

Types of Accreditation

Regional (traditional universities) and national (usually career and technical schools)

Management analyst, teacher, web developer, art director, engineer, surveyor, database administrator, technical writer, compliance officer

Downfalls of Non-Accredited Programs

Non-accredited programs might not help you meet your advanced education or career goals. Some graduate programs won’t allow you to apply unless you have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited program, so if you choose a non-accredited program for undergraduate studies, you’ll have to start all over. Depending on your career choice and geographic area, you might need to prove that you graduated from an accredited program to apply for a license to work in your profession. The same is true for some certification programs.

How to Find Accredited Programs

You have a couple options when looking for program accreditation. You can find a school that interests you and search their website for accreditation info, but this may require patience. Some schools place all of their accreditation on a general page, while others list them under individual departments.

Another route is to locate the professional organizations that accredit programs you’re interested in and see which schools have programs accredited by them. Many of these organizations also list programs that have applied and are being considered for accreditation, as well as those that have had their accreditation revoked or suspended. If you need to attend an accredited program, make sure the program you’re interested in is accredited, not just the institution – although you may wish to check whether the institution is accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized agency as well.

When Non-accredited Programs Can Help

If you are determined to get your bachelor’s degree in an esoteric field like architectural gingerbread appreciation, you probably won’t find a professional standards organization to accredit a program. Schools generally can’t apply for program accreditation until at least one student has acquired a degree, so if you want to attend a school that’s otherwise reputable and is beginning a new program, you can actually help them with the process. If you already have a career or don’t need the degree for immediate career purposes, a non-accredited program can still be a personal educational experience.

Forensic Psychology Masters Programs #forensic #psychology #masters #degree #programs

Master s Degree Programs in Forensic Psychology

Pursuing a career in forensic psychology can be an exciting way to enter the field of forensics for someone who has an undergraduate background in psychology. A forensic psychologist is someone who uses their training in psychology, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, to work within some aspect of the criminal justice system. A forensic psychologist could be a therapist in a prison, an expert witness in court, a criminal profiler, or any combination of those.

While forensic psychologists must have graduate level training, they do not necessarily have to study in a forensic psychology master s or doctorate program. Those that choose to seek a master s degree in forensic psychology should consider the necessary prerequisites for this type of program, the types of courses they might end up taking, and how they would like to pursue this advanced degree.

Prerequisites for a Master s Degree in Forensic Psychology

As with any master s degree program, any student wishing to apply to forensic psychology masters programs must have completed, or be on track to complete, an undergraduate degree. Most programs do not require that degree to be in forensic psychology, or in psychology at all. However, certain courses are usually required, such as Statistics and introductory level courses to psychology and to experimentation. For promising candidates, many schools exercise the option to grant conditional admission for students that have not completed all requisite courses, provided they can complete them within their first semester of the graduate program.

Many selective programs also have a minimum GPA for applicants to their graduate level programs. This helps narrow the applicant field to those who have proven they can function successfully at an institute of higher learning. Most master s degree programs also require applicants take the GRE and may have established minimum scores for admission.

Applicants should always keep in mind the requirements for individual programs can vary greatly and be sure to check with a program before applying.

Featured Programs

Common Courses Electives

Every curriculum is different, but some generalizations can be made about the standard courses required for a master s degree in forensic psychology. Once prerequisites have been met, students can begin to take advanced courses in psychology, including general courses in research, psychopathology, and advanced statistics.

When some basic advanced requirements have been met, students can begin to explore courses that focus on the forensic aspect of the forensic psychology master s degree. While these courses can vary at different schools, they may include such course titles as:

  • Psychology of Criminal Behavior
  • Victimology
  • Mental Health Issues in Policing
  • Terrorism
  • Violence and Aggression
  • Evaluation and Treatment of Juvenile Offenders

This is not an exhaustive list, only a sampling of the kinds of courses found in the course catalogs for forensic psychology master s degree programs.

Many programs may also offer courses that deal with the intersection of forensic psychology and other professions, including law enforcement and social work. It is also important to note that the majority of master s degree programs in forensic psychology do require an externship or practicum which involves students working in the field, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. Some schools may offer assistance in obtaining these positions while others may leave the process largely up to the students themselves.

Hybrid Online Programs

Any student who chooses to pursue graduates studies may find him or herself concerned about where they will be able to attend school, particularly if they hope to continue working while furthering their education. Luckily, some forensic psychology master s degree programs do offer the option to study online, in part or in full, which can make attending graduate school that much more convenient. For instance, the Center for Psychological Studies at Nova Southeastern University offers an entirely online master s of science degree in forensic psychology. Argosy University. which focuses on online learning for all their courses of study, also offers an entirely online Master of Arts degree in forensic psychology. Some schools offer programs that are mostly or partially online. For example, the University of North Dakota offers a Master of Arts degree in forensic psychology that includes online lectures and one campus visit. Students in the UND program are eligible for in-state tuition no matter where they reside.

Students should remember that these programs may still require some degree of in-person work, particularly when it comes to practicums that may required for the completion of the degree or for future licensing.

Accreditation

Finding a school that is accredited is essential, particularly for those students who plan to seek licensure in the future.Accreditation means that the forensic psychology master s degree program meets certain requirements in terms of its curriculum, faculty, and facilities. Schools may be accredited as an institute for higher learning, by an organization such as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Similar commissions exist for different areas of the country. As an example, John Jay College of Criminal Justice has accreditation from the MSCHE.

However, forensic psychology programs themselves can also earn accreditation separately from such professional organizations as the American Psychological Association (APA). In many instances, those students wishing to pursue an internship and eventually licensure may be required to study at an APA-accredited school.

Explore a Master s Degree in English

Students who earn an online master s degree program in English will gain the critical thinking, research, and communication skills necessary to work in a wide variety of industries, ranging from journalism, to media, to education. With more and more employers interested in applicants with a strong liberal arts background, English majors have flexible career options in both the private and public sectors. Those who are interested in pursuing a teaching career at the college or university level will need to continue on to a Ph.D. program to gain the required credentials. Some two-year or community colleges, however, only require a master s degree to teach.

Students who choose to enroll in an online program have the flexibility to take classes on a full or part time basis, as fits with their work and family commitments. Since the course load a student selects each term can vary, the typical time to complete this type of program is between two to three years. However, it is important to note that other factors such as transfer credits applied and whether or not a student takes any time off from the program can influence time to completion.

English majors can expect a combination of survey, seminar, and research courses. The curriculum may cover topics such as critical theory, linguistics, journalism, folklore, cultural studies, gender studies, film studies, creative writing, and literary criticism. At the master s degree level, students will likely be required to select an area of specialization such as a particular historical period or type of literature. Some examples of courses that may be required in this type of program include:

    • Contemporary Literature. This course will examine a variety of different types of contemporary literature including fiction, drama, poetry, essays, and criticism. Students will apply the theoretical concepts they have learned through thorough analysis of the titles they read.
    • Theories of Teaching Writing. Students will learn about composition theory and research principles, with goal of developing strong analysis and critiquing skills. This course also requires students to assist teachers in the classroom as a way to apply their skills in a practical setting.
    • Advanced Fiction Writing. Students must be approved by the instructor to enroll in this type of course. This intensive workshop will include topics such as plot, conflict, characterization, point of view, and atmosphere.

Assignments are likely to include critical essays, research papers, creative writing pieces, and presentations. Students may also be required to work as teaching assistants during their time in the program. Most programs will have a master s thesis requirement as the capstone of the curriculum. This thesis will demonstrate the full breadth of the student s research and analytical skills, as well as mastery of the critical theory concepts they have learned throughout their enrollment.

Graduates with an online master s degree in English have developed strong critical thinking and communications skills, which make them ideal candidates for a variety of different positions. Potential career fields include media, journalism, public relations, publishing, and education. Those interested in teaching English at the college or university level will need to continue on to a Ph.D. program after completing their master s program. However, some community colleges only require their instructors to have a master s degree.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the demand for postsecondary teachers is expected to grow by 17% from 2010 to 2020. This is slightly faster than the 14% growth expected for all occupations. The mean annual wage for English teachers at the postsecondary level was $68,760 in 2011. Those who worked at technical and trade schools earned a mean annual wage of $51,850, according to the BLS. Please note, however, that the actual starting salaries and job openings you experience can vary based on location, level of experience, education, the type of employer, and the general job market.

Graphic Design Education – 2 or 4 Year Degree, year technical

    #

Graphic Design Education: Two-Year or Four-Year Degree

    Year technical degree

Graphic design is probably as old as man himself; the cave writings in Lascaux, France are 15,000 (or more) year old graphic designs. Illuminated manuscripts from the Medieval Period are graphic designs. Anything that uses pictures and symbols to communicate something is a graphic design.

In the last half of the twentieth century, graphic design moved from the drafting table to the computer. During this time of transition, computer skills were more important than design skills. Computerized graphic design programs were complicated and difficult for most people to use. If you were computer savvy, you could learn enough about design to find employment as a graphic designer without post-secondary education.

That s no longer true. In the 21st century, most people have some computer skills and graphic design programs are easier to use. The pendulum is swinging back toward the artistic expression of graphic design and it s very difficult to get a job as a graphic artist without at least some college education.

There are many types of graphic design educational programs available certificate programs, associate degree programs, bachelor s degree programs and graduate programs. All of these programs have their pros and cons. The one that s best for you is the one that will enable you to meet your career goals. This article will compare several features of associate and bachelor s degree programs in order to help you choose the best program for you.

Cost: An associate degree program costs less than a bachelor s degree program. Partly, that is because you are paying for fewer years of education.

If you get your associate degree at a community college, the cost per credit will be lower than at any four-year college or university. (That may not be true of an associate degree program from a career or technical college.)

There are other less obvious cost advantages to an associate degree program, too. You can usually find one close to where you live, so you don t have relocation or campus housing expenses. Two years less education also means two years less book and other fees. And it means two years less lost work time.

Career path: You ll begin your career faster with an associate degree, and you ll probably qualify for the same jobs that a bachelor s degree graduate qualifies for.

There will probably come a time, however, when an associate degree graduate hits a career dead end; a point where you cannot advance any further without getting more education. Advanced professional positions and positions in management and education are usually closed to associate degree graduates.

Because they can advance further in their careers, bachelor s degree graphic designers usually have higher lifetime earnings than those with associate degrees. The more education you have, the more money you are likely to earn.

Professional status: Unfairly and unfortunately, there is a negative stigma attached to having only an associate degree. Some employers believe that the best and brightest, most talented and smartest will attend a four year school and that if you didn t you are less than the best. It s not an accurate evaluation and it s not fair, but it is reality. If you have an associate degree and you are competing head-to-head with someone with a bachelor s degree, there s a good chance the job or project will go to the other guy. All other things being equal, education wins every time.

An associate degree program is usually focused and concentrates on skill acquisition, rather than developing a broad educational base. You can graduate with an associate degree and be a very good, very skilled, very talented graphic artist but you do not have the scope of education that someone with a bachelor s degree does. All of those core educational courses in a bachelor s program are designed to broaden your mind and help you develop personally as well as professionally.

Perhaps most importantly, a bachelor s degree in graphic design gives you better tools for communicating with other professionals. Graphic design is all about communication, and being able to speak the language of other professional people is a distinct advantage.

You could choose a career path that begins with an associate degree, planning to get a bachelor s degree later. There are some good reasons to do this:

    • It costs less if you plan right.
    • You can establish yourself in your career quickly, and get your bachelor s degree before you re ready for more advanced positions.

If you do plan to get a bachelor s degree later in your career, make sure that your associate degree classes will transfer to a four-year school. Some programs are not transferable and some others may only be partially transferable. You don t want to put the time and money into getting an associate degree and then have to start all over at the beginning when you are ready to pursue your bachelor s degree.

Whether you choose an associate degree or a bachelor s degree program, you ll enter an exciting, challenging profession that is continuing to evolve as new technologies become available. Graphic design is increasingly a part of our visually focused world, and as a result graphic artists are increasingly in demand. As a graphic designer you can work in almost any industry or you can develop your own business. Look at your career goals and at your personal situation and choose the program that will help you get where you want to be, that will help you achieve your professional goals.

    Types of Civil Engineering Degrees

There are many subcategories of civil engineering be sure to check with you the university engineering department to figure out which one might be best for you. Some of the most popular areas of concentration in the field of civil engineering are highlighted below.

    Structural Engineering Degree

Structural engineering focuses on the building of non-building structures (non-building structures are defined as structures that lack occupancy bridges, aqueducts, dams, water culverts, railroads, roads, and tunnels are a few examples). Structural engineering is one of the oldest forms of civil engineering and has been around for hundreds of years. Structural engineering jobs tend to be in high demand due to the necessity of non-building structures no matter what the population is.

    Construction Engineering Management Degree

Those interested in the building of residential or commercial building structures tend to go down the construction management engineering degree route. The principles of structural engineering are similar to a structural engineer, but focused on the building of homes, houses, or office buildings. Most projects are shorter term (relatively speaking) depending on the size of the building. Career options for construction engineering managers tend to go up or down depending on the housing and commercial building vertical.

    Environmental Engineering Degree

Civil engineers interested in focusing on solving environmental issues tend to focus on an environmental engineering route. Helping design better water systems, purification systems, or reducing waste within a construction site would be a few tasks. Read more on environmental engineering degrees here.

    Architectural Engineering Degree

Like structural engineering and construction engineering, architectural engineering focuses on the building of structures. Architectural engineering, however, tends to focus more on the aesthetic side of the structure. This is not only focused on looks, however sometimes architectural engineers need to design new structures that fit into an era of construction. Revamping many the downtown area of a Victorian-style town, for instance, would likely require the expertise of an architectural engineer. Check out our more detailed article on architectural engineering degrees.

    Engineering Project Management Degree

Nearly every engineer works with a project manager, but project managers are a necessity and most common within civil engineering. This is why many civil engineers continue their education with a Bachelor s or Master s in Project Management. Their technical civil expertise combined with the education on managing projects helps make them an excellent option as a project manager. Project managers help work with multiple processes, companies, and engineering specialties (architects, drafters, structural engineers, electricians, etc.) to complete large projects. Below are a few options for online project management degrees.

    #

A Master’s in Social Work (MSW) is one of the best degrees you can have for helping others and getting paid to do so.

    Why complete an MSW program?

The BLS reports that MSW programs may be particularly helpful when it comes to obtaining advanced job opportunities or working in some areas such as in schools or health care, and it s required to become a licensed clinical social worker. MSW degrees generally take two years to complete, depending on class scheduling and student aptitude, and require the completion of on-the-job experience through internships or field education before graduation (BLS.gov, 2012 ). Whether working with disabled veterans in a group home, or foster children in need of unique services, students who gain this supervised experience should slowly build their understanding of how to best accomplish their professional social work goals.

    MSW programs: What to expect?

General coursework in MSW programs might include research and practice, psychopathology, ethical foundations, child welfare and more. Some degree programs may offer concentrations such as child and family services, health services, and management and planning.

Upon completing their MSW, students can choose to pursue their Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification. Typically, the LCSW requires two years or 3,000 hours of supervised clinical hours beyond those already completed through an MSW program (BLS.gov, 2012 ). Other LCSW requirements could include passing a state-administered exam or one offered by the Association of Social Work Boards. and possibly having prior Licensed Social Worker (LSW) certification.

National career and salary outlook for social workers

The BLS projects employment for social workers could grow by up to 25 percent nationally between 2010 and 2020, which is better than the national average growth for all occupations (14 percent). Demand is predicted to be even higher in two social work fields: health care as well as mental health and substance abuse. According to the BLS. the national median salary in 2011 for child, family and school social workers was $40,680, with the top ten percent earning up to $70,050 in 2011 and the lowest 10 percent earning up to $26,190 nationally in 2011.

Those interested in learning more about the field, including new legislation, resources, and professional development, can look for further information through the American Clinical Social Work Association. the Association of Social Work Boards and the National Association of Social Workers. Detailed salary and employment data can be found through the BLS Occupational Employment Statistics program.

    Online Doctorate Programs

    CalSouthern’s Online Doctoral Degree Programs

    CalSouthern’s Online Doctoral Degree Programs

You’ll find exceptional online doctorate programs in CalSouthern’s Schools of Business, Law and Psychology. Each offers an applied doctoral degree or a professional doctorate. Unlike academic doctorates (e.g. the PhD), applied or professional doctorates are less oriented toward research and scholarly publication, and more devoted to the advanced, practical application of theory in a professional setting.

The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is an excellent option for business leaders looking to develop knowledge of the highest order in a particular business discipline, and to set themselves apart from other executives in a highly competitive workplace. It’s an extremely personalized and focused program. In fact, up to 25 percent of the program can be devoted to a doctoral project of your own selection and corresponding to your particular business interests and areas of expertise—it’s a great way to distinguish yourself as a leading expert in a specific area of interest.

The Juris Doctor (JD) is designed to provide students with the educational foundation and professional training to succeed as a practicing attorney in the state of California. In fact, once you earn your JD degree, you can be eligible to sit for the California Bar Exam. The California Southern University School of Law is registered as an unaccredited correspondence law school with the Committee of Bar Examiners (CBE) of the State Bar of California. This allows graduates of the JD program who have complied with Title 4, Division 1 of the Rules of the State Bar of California (Admissions Rules) to sit for the California Bar Exam.

The CBE requires CalSouthern to refer all current and prospective JD students, as well as applicants, to and current students to required disclosures. Please click here to review the disclosures.

The Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) is the online doctoral degree program in CalSouthern’s School of Behavioral Sciences. Unlike the research-intensive PhD, the PsyD is far more clinically focused. Emphasizing counseling and therapy, the PsyD can prepare learners for virtually any position in any organizational hierarchy within the field of psychology. It can also lead to a career in academics, particularly if the program is clinically focused.

For those looking to practice as a licensed clinical psychologist, CalSouthern’s PsyD meets the educational requirements for licensure in the state of California and numerous other states. (Since states’ policies are subject to change and/or dependent upon the circumstances of each case, each student must confirm with the appropriate regulatory body that CalSouthern’s degree will be accepted in a particular state. For additional information about the PsyD and state licensure, click here .)

Regardless of your area of interest—be it business, law or psychology—CalSouthern offers an online doctoral degree program that is truly exceptional. It’s CalSouthern’s collegial and responsive community of personalized support that distinguishes the university from its peers. It’s the CalSouthern difference and it’ll be apparent from the moment you speak with any of our dedicated education professionals. We urge you to experience it for yourself.

    Introduction to Environmental Sciences

00:17 Are you looking for a career that reflects that passion?

00:20 How much do you know about environmental science and its related careers?

00:24 Let’s explore the field and talk a little about what you can expect from a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from University of Phoenix.

00:31 Environmental science is an exciting area that brings together the natural sciences, environmental law, policy, and ethics to improve the way we interact with our world.

00:39 Throughout your degree program, you’ll learn about environmental protection, restoration, sustainable energy, and pollution control.

00:46 Increasing interest in environmental issues, combined with a growing need for sustainability, have expanded opportunities in this already thriving field.

00:54 Let’s take a look at some of the areas you’ll be learning about.

00:57 Ecology is the study of the interaction between living things and the environment.

01:02 Through research, ecologists provide vital information for the preservation and restoration of species and landscapes.

01:10 This basic information is essential for land managers and policymakers as they make decisions regarding species and ecological communities.

01:18 There is currently a huge need for this research.

01:20 Only 15 percent of species in the United States have been studied accurately enough to judge whether they’re endangered.

01:25 At a time when extinction rates are on the rise, understanding the ecology of species and landscapes is essential to their preservation and restoration. 01:34 A career in ecology might take you to a private consulting firm or government agency.

01:38 You may help monitor plant and animal communities, restore degraded landscapes, or provide data for construction and other projects to ensure they’re environmentally safe.

01:47 Keeping our environment safe isn’t always easy.

01:50 Pollution affects our ecosystem and human health.

01:54 Fortunately, efforts over the last 50 years, including the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, have reduced the release of pollutants in the atmosphere and waterways.

02:02 Prior to the Clean Water Act, only one-third of waterways in the United States were clean enough to swim in. 02:07 Forty years after the act’s passage, 65 percent of waterways are safe for swimming.

02:12 This is thanks in part to the work of environmental scientists employed both by industry and agencies to ensure compliance with the law.

02:18 Jobs in pollution monitoring and mitigation include stormwater and wastewater management.

02:23 In these careers, you may guarantee compliance by collecting samples in the field for lab analysis.

02:28 Some positions focus on administrative roles, ensure that projects follow procedures and meet expectations.

02:35 You may even be asked to create a remediation plan for polluted sites. 02:39 Our society is dependent on energy.

02:41 Without energy, there can be no electricity, refrigeration, or transport. 02:46 Produce, meats and dairy, could not be shipped.

02:49 Businesses and hospitals could not operate effectively, and computers cannot function.

02:55 Energy is essential for our way of life.

02:58 Over half of our energy comes from nonrenewable fossil fuels, which contribute significantly to air pollution.

03:04 Coal fired power plants provide an incredible 40 percent of our electricity, making it the single biggest source of air pollution in the United States.

03:12 Our overdependence on nonrenewable sources has become more apparent in recent years.

03:17 When combined with the effects of global climate change, renewable clean energies such as hydropower, wind, and solar have become very attractive, but even these energy sources have their drawbacks.

03:27 Environmental scientists play a role in promoting such clean energies from their positions in industry, nonprofit organizations, and agencies.

03:36 Potential careers in energy include consulting about energy management and efficiency, as well as ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

03:43 An environmental scientist is a critical thinker who analyzes problems, collects and interprets data, and works in teams.

03:51 You’ll learn how to improve these skills through collaborative and analytical projects.

03:55 As you pursue your degree, faculty will encourage you to think critically and holistically about environmental issues.

04:01 You’ll also receive a lab kit for chemistry to provide you with hands on experience in data collection and interpretation.

04:07 A degree in environmental science will allow you to use your passion for the environment in the best ways possible.

04:12 There are many opportunities in this field, and they can all make an impact in the protection of the environment.

PMP Experience Documentation – Project Management Stack Exchange, pmp degree.#Pmp #degree

    #

    pmp degree

Documentation required is pretty scant on the 4500 hours. They will ask you to break the hours down into five process areas (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing) and then into various process activities.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I’m a software developer by experience, so I had to scrounge various projects to get my 4500 hours. I was also audited, so I know that they accepted my experience.

Once you enter your hours, if you get audited, you will get a letter to sign for each project, from the manager of that project (or co-worker, or subordinate). It will say “XYZ said they worked on this project for these many hours (by process area): . do you agree with this? (Yes/No) and any other comments?” So no real documentation is necessary; as long as you are honest, your experience is valid.

Also, for tracking, I would do it in a spreadsheet; list projects and an approximate number of hours spent on each project. That makes it easier to subdivide into the process areas and processes later; you can “budget” those hours until they add up to approximately the same amount.

By the way, PMI really wants just project work experience, whether leadership or not. I passed the audit, and I had projects like:

    • Software developer on X project
    • Project manager, sponsor, developer, and customer on X small project
    • Novel writer
    • Volunteer group leader/worker

Most of your hours will probably fall into the execution area; that’s probably what they expect.

When you fill out the experience portion of the PMP Application, you will be asked to provide the total number of hours you spent “leading and directing”, i.e. managing the project and what percentage of that time was spent on various activities in each Process Area, organized by the process groups. It is time consuming. Since I wasn’t as forward thinking as you, I ended up asking my company financial admin staff to print me a report of every project I had billed for the last 5 years. Fortunately, we are typically pretty good about setting up charge numbers for various activities on a project, so the translation from charge numbers to PMBOK process area.

Also this way, if I was audited, I already had the source material I could use as justification.

http://www.projectsmart.co.uk/docs/pmp-application.xls is a slightly dated version of the type of template you could maintain if you wanted to get a leg up.

Not every project you document needs to cover every process group, but the sum total of all your experience needs to cover all the PMBOK processes. At least that’s how it was in 2009 when I documented my experience.

My interpretation of leading and directing is that you don’t have to be designated as “the PM”, but you do need to have been performing some sort of leadership activity on the project. On a software project, perhaps you were the software lead, which gave you experience executing, etc.

The bottom line is that you need to be comfortable with yourself – if you have made every effort to honestly document your management experience have records to back up your claim in case of an audit, you’ll be fine.

The field of health care is increasingly being considered one of the most enticing industries in the nation, with healthcare reform efforts resulting in a renewed focus and push in healthcare careers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), healthcare is one of the largest and most lucrative career fields for those with Associate’s Degrees. The BLS also reports that health care support occupations, which include many of those positions you can obtain with an Associate’s degree, result in a mean annual wage of 34,950 (2013).

Earning your Associate degree is a great way to enter the field of healthcare administration. An associate degree can get you on a path to an entry-level job or lay the groundwork for your bachelor’s degree later on.

Types of Health Administration Associate Degrees

You have three basic choices when considering a health administration associate degree: an Associate of Arts in health administration, an Associate of Science in health administration or an Associate of Applied Science in health administration. Which one you choose depends on what you want to do next. The Associate of Arts degree will include more liberal arts classes. An Associate of Science degree will include more science courses. An Associate of Applied Science degree focuses on the technical aspect of the work and is designed for people who want to acquire a specific skill or vocation and go right to work. It is considered a “terminal” degree, meaning not many credits will carry over toward a bachelor’s degree. So, if you want to continue your education at some point, it is best to consider an Associate of Science or an Associate of Arts degree. In all three cases you can choose to get a general health administration degree or you can choose a concentration in a specific area, such as pharmacy practice or medical records.

Course Requirements for a Health Administration Associate Degree

The specific courses you will take will depend on what degree you are pursuing and the area in which you plan to concentrate. Most programs require certain core courses in the degree area, such as classes on how the health care system works, technology for managing health care practices and functions, basic medical law and ethics, mathematics, medical terminology and introduction to anatomy. If you are on the arts track, you might take some courses in the humanities, English and writing, civilization, history, sociology or a foreign language. Those on a science track might enroll in introduction to biology, chemistry, psychology and even physics classes. If you are planning to concentrate in the general business aspects of the field, you may take additional courses in business and administration, organizational theory, customer service and marketing. If you seek an area of concentration, you will want to add electives in a specific field such as pharmacology or information technology. Typical degrees require about 60 credit hours of work.

Job Prospects with a Health Administration Associate Degree

Most students look for a job when they graduate, even if they plan to go on and get a bachelor’s degree. Work experience can help you get into a better school if you are continuing your education. If you plan to stay in the workforce, experience is the key to better-paying jobs. Getting an entry-level administrative job in a doctor’s office or in a hospital is a common choice, but it isn’t your only option. Insurance companies, clinics, pharmacies and long-term care facilities also look for people with health care administration credentials. You may find yourself doing a little bit of everything in a small physician’s practice. In a larger facility, you may be more focused in an area such as managing patient records, coding for insurance billing or managing inventory at a pharmacy.

Online Exercise Science Bachelors Degree Program Info

    Essential Information

Online learning options in exercise science are very rare, since there tends to be required hands-on research in athletic training, strength, and conditioning. However, individuals can find a select few institutions that offer exercise science majors and concentrations delivered remotely. Courses can be completed online, but an internship is typically required near the end of the program. In some hybrid programs, students may also be required to complete in-class lab work.

In addition to kinesiology, there are several other majors that include exercise science courses, such as physical education, nutrition and sports management. Bachelor’s degree programs in sports management can be completed totally online, with no on-campus course or lab requirements.

In bachelor’s degree programs in kinesiology, students can expect to take courses in biomechanics, physiology, sports psychology, and motor learning. These programs may prepare graduates for certification with the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Individuals can go on to work as fitness trainers, coaches or sports managers.

Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science

Most bachelor’s degree programs in kinesiology offer the option to concentrate in exercise science. Students enrolled in kinesiology programs will learn the basics of body movements and functions, and incorporate these ideas with principles of fitness and rehabilitation.

    Program Information and Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, with a focus on exercise science, is typically meant to provide students with a science-based approach to understanding fitness. Students will complete hands-on work and research, oftentimes in a laboratory or training facility, in order to gain experience in rehabilitation techniques, performance analysis, and fitness testing. Kinesiology programs generally take a multi-faceted approach in teaching aspects of fitness and exercise science. Bachelor’s degree programs in exercise science usually take 3-4 years to complete.

Common Kinesiology and Exercise Science Courses

Students will complete coursework dealing with aspects of physical therapy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, sport psychology and fitness testing. Hands-on training and first-aid certification courses are typically required for completion of the program.

    Anatomy and Physiology

This course studies the structure and function of the human organ systems. Students are typically required to complete in-class laboratory work.

    Exercise Physiology

This course looks at the physiology of exercising. Students will study how the human endocrine, cardiovascular, and pulmonary systems respond and adapt to exercise.

    Fitness Assessment and Prescription

Students study the methods and techniques used in evaluating physical fitness. This course covers topics in blood pressure, liability concerns, ECG recording and interpretation, strength assessment, body composition analysis, and pulmonary function tests.

    Career Information

A popular career option for someone holding a degree in kinesiology and exercise science is to become a fitness worker. As of May 2015, the median annual income for someone working in the field was $36,160, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The BLS reported that, between 2014 and 2024, job opportunities in the field are expected to increase by 8% (www.bls.gov ).

    Continuing Education

Students who complete a bachelor’s degree program in kinesiology often go on to pursue a master’s degree in the field. A master’s degree program typically takes 2-3 years to complete. Students will delve into more intensive research and study of kinesiology, including extensive hands-on laboratory research and training. The option to choose exercise science as a focus is typically available at the master’s level, just as it is at the bachelor’s level. A master’s degree may lead to a significant bump in responsibility and pay in the field of fitness-related jobs. Jobs in physical therapy are popular career options for people who have earned a master’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science.

The most relevant online degree option for undergraduate students who are interested in exercise science is a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, which includes courses in the basics of human anatomy and how these principles affect sports performance. While these programs typically include a certain amount of on-site hands-on training, there are other athletics-related bachelor’s degree programs that can be completed entirely online.
