Traveling From The U.S.

Having the correct documentation in place before your trip is essential to travel outside the United States. Below are the Passport Visa requirements that will help make your trip run smoothly.

Passport

A passport is required for ALL international travel. If you’re traveling anywhere overseas, even to Canada, the Caribbean or Mexico, you need a passport to board an international flight and to enter any country. In general, your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you enter a foreign country.

Visit the U. S. State Department’s website opens in a new window if you need a new passport or your passport is about to expire. There, you can find information on obtaining first time passports, passport renewals, second passport issuance and extra blank pages for an existing passport. You can also visit the U. S. Postal Service opens in a new window to find the closest Post Office that can also provide new and renewal passport services.

Visa

A travel visa is required to enter many countries. To see if one is required for your upcoming trip, visit the U. S. State Department travel website opens in a new window .

Re-entering the U.S.

Check the travel documents you will need to re-enter the U.S. For example, if you are traveling to the U.S. from Canada, select United States in the Destination country box. This search engine and database are provided and managed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). You may wish to double-check foreign entry requirements by contacting your local embassy or consulate.

Traveling to a U.S. Territory

If you are a U. S. citizen and want to travel to one of its territories, you will not need a U. S. Passport. Sufficient ID would be a U. S. driver’s license or other valid photo identification, the same as if you were flying to New York or Seattle. However, U.S. residents with foreign passports would be subject to the same entry procedures in one of the territories that they would be on the mainland.

These destinations are considered U. S. territories: Puerto Rico, Guam, Saipan and the U. S. Virgin Islands.

Why discount travel sites are angry with Delta #best #travel #deals

Here’s why discount travel sites are angry with Delta

Finding cheap airfare on discount travel sites is great for consumers—but airlines have to play ball for it to truly work.

A group of these sites, including TripAdvisor, CheapOair, and Hipmunk, is banding together publicly against Delta Air Lines Inc. s DAL recent removal of flight information and fares from their listings. Their complaints are relayed in a report released today by the Travel Technology Association (Travel Tech, as it calls itself), a trade group representing such sites, according to The Wall Street Journal . Travel Tech, on behalf of these sites, is asking the Transportation Department to review its report and decide whether carriers like Delta ought to be required to make their flight data widely available to all sites.

Delta, for its part, has said that it never authorized these sites to use its data.

This isn t the first time these issues have come up among low airfare sites. Last year, the discount site Routehappy lamented, in a tweet to a customer, that it was one of more than 30 sites from which Delta had pulled its data (nowadays the Routehappy site once again shows Delta information):

In recent years, CheapAir (not to be confused with CheapOair), Air Gorilla, Globester, and Bookit, among others, have all had Delta take away flight data from their listings, though not all have publicly taken action. And this isn t just about Delta: today s study points out examples of other airlines that are, attempting to restrict access to their fare and schedule information, reduce the ability of consumers to easily compare prices, and drive travelers to their own websites, which do not offer price comparisons with other airlines, the report says. In other words, this is an industry-wide issue just beginning to heat up after many years.

Delta, in a brief statement, told the WSJ that it would continue partnering with a limited, but responsive and adaptable group of online retailers.” Today, the sites involved in Travel Tech s study may be wondering why Delta does not appear to deem them responsive and adaptable.

Delta to honor extremely cheap mistake fares – CBS News #southhall

Delta to honor extremely cheap mistake fares

NEW YORK – Some lucky fliers capitalized on a computer glitch Thursday and scored some really cheap flights on Delta Air Lines (DAL ).

From about 10 a.m. to noon ET, certain Delta fares on the airline’s own website and other airfare booking sites were showing up incorrectly, offering some savvy bargain hunters incredible deals. A roundtrip flight between Cincinnati and Minneapolis for February was being sold for just $25.05 and a roundtrip between Cincinnati and Salt Lake City for $48.41. The correct price for both of those fares is more than $400.

Trebor Banstetter, a spokesman for the Atlanta-based airline, said the problem has been fixed but “Delta will honor any fares purchased at the incorrect price.”

Jackie Fanelli, 27, learned about the super cheap fares from a friend’s Facebook page. She attempted to purchase a $98 roundtrip first-class ticket from her home city of Baltimore to Honolulu on Priceline.com but the transaction didn’t process before the deal was shut down.

“It was too good to be true,” Fanelli said. “I try to go away every other year and this was not the year.”

Delta’s website was having lingering problems from the increased traffic Thursday afternoon.

“It looks like Delta’s programmers had a little too much eggnog yesterday,” joked George Hobica, founder of AirfareWatchDog.com, which promotes airfare sales.

It’s likely that the airline tried to tweak its fares with a $10 or $20 system-wide change and a junior programmer made a mistake or two, he said.

“People just go wild. People have been bragging about booking six first-class tickets to Hawaii,” Hobica said. “People hate the airlines so much that when this happens, they say: I’m going to get back at you for the time you broke my suitcase and didn’t pay for it.”

Other airlines have faced the same issue. In September United Airlines experienced an error in filing fares to its computer system. Many customers got tickets for $5 or $10, paying only the cost of the Sept. 11 security fee.

New Department of Transportation regulations, aimed at truth in advertising, require airlines to honor any mistake fares offered.

Delta Airlines

Profile

But the most surprising fact about Delta Airlines is in the way it came to the fore. Yes, today Delta Flights is the largest airlines when it comes to fleet size and scheduled passenger traffic while also being the second largest when it comes to revenue and passenger kilometers flown but it started as a single plane which was nicknamed The Puffer in 1925. It was actually the very first true crop duster, a Huff-Daland Duster which was used to spray white pesticides to control boll weevil. You can still find it in the Southern Museum of Flight. It was owned by Delta Flights Corporation which started taking a lone passenger from one place to the other. Collett E. Woolman went on to buy the Delta Air Corporation in 1928 and it began ferrying passengers in 1929 after it was rechristened Air Service.

More Information About Delta Airlines

The headquarters at that time were located in Monroe where Clarence E. Faulk Sr. was appointed the president of the company Service in 1934. He was also a founding member and also the publisher of Monroe News Star. He served as the president till 1945. He went on to become the chairman of the board of the company in 1948, a post he made his own till his death in 1951.

Delta Airlines Futere

Slowly and steadily cemented its feet by adding more routes to its networks. Along the way it also headed the acquisition of several other airlines which helped its cause. Delta Airlines took a huge step in the 1960s when it replaced its fleet with jet planes. After that, no one could stop Delta as it entered the European and Pacific markets. Its biggest acquisition had to be the Northwest Airlines in 2008.

    Price: From $318

    Lowest By: $20

    Expires: November 9

Is It Worth It?: There’s never been a better time to set sail to the Bahamas. This Editors’ Choice cruise on the Carnival Cruise line is the best price we’ve seen for any 4-night cruise to the Bahamas this year, ringing in at just $40 per person, per night. Stop off at the private cruise line island of Half Moon Cay and the capital city of Nassau with its colonial British buildings and pristine beaches.

Additional fees and taxes apply. This roundtrip cruise aboard the Carnival Ecstasy departs from Miami, FL, on December 7 and stops in Half Moon Cay and Nassau, Bahamas. This travel deal ends November 9.

The cruise departs from London in mid-December and disembarks a week later in New York, just in time for Christmas!

Why discount travel sites are angry with Delta #wholesale #travel

Delta Airlines – Airline Tickets – Delta Airlines Deals #travel #agents

The cruise departs from London in mid-December and disembarks a week later in New York, just in time for Christmas!
