Turkish Airlines Flight Emergency Follows Subway Explosion In Istanbul [Breaking]

A Turkish Airlines flight traveling from Istanbul, Turkey, to Frankfurt, Germany, was diverted to Nuremberg, Germany, after an unattended suspicious mobile device was found on board. According to Express UK. the plane carrying 124 passengers landed safely after pilots hit the panic alarm following the discovery of a derelict mobile phone.

Turkish newspaper Antalya Ajans reported that the airliner suffered a bomb scare at 30,000ft after an unclaimed cell phone was found on board shortly after it entered German airspace. It is not clear in what circumstances the device was found and specialist security teams began combing the aircraft shortly after it landed, reports Express UK .

Turkish Airlines flight TK1617 was met on the runway by several emergency vehicles. Despite the frightening ordeal, however, everyone on board made it off the aircraft safely. An investigation into where the cell phone came from or who it might have belonged to is said to be ongoing at this time.

Authorities have yet to say whether or not the device posed any kind of actual threat.

This is not the first piece of news involving Turkish travel to be reported today. Just hours ago, Turkish Airlines announced that they would be canceling all flights between Istanbul and Egyptian city Sharm el-Sheikh until January 1 due to safety concerns. According to the Middle Eastern Monitor. the airline s decision came just two weeks after the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a travel warning to Sharm el-Sheikh.

Citizens should consider risks in the region when planning their visit to Sharm el-Sheikh, said the ministry in a statement.

This travel warning was issued after a Russian passenger plane crashed in Egypt s Sinai Peninsula on October 31. It is widely believed that a bomb took out that plane and killed all 224 passengers on board.

According to CNN, Moscow believes that Turkey took down the plane on purpose in connection with ISIS. The motive: oil trade protection.

Secondly, the Turkish Airlines flight with the onboard emergency landed just hours after an explosion near a metro station in Istanbul. According to CNBC, the mayor has confirmed that the explosion was caused by a pipe bomb. As of now, reports indicate that five people have been injured in that incident. There has been at least one report of a fatality, but that has not been confirmed.

Atilla Aydiner, the mayor of the Bayrampasa district on the European side of the city, spoke on live television after the explosion hit the industrial and residential area near the height of evening rush hour. An Istanbul police source told NBC News that evidence of a small hand-made bomb had been found outside the entrance of the metro station, reports CNBC.

Turkish Airlines flight TK1617 wasn t the first aircraft in the country s fleet to be diverted due to security concerns. Just over a week ago, another flight headed to New York City from Istanbul was diverted to Canada because of a bomb threat. According to CNN, all 256 passengers and crew members were safe after the flight landed safely at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia.

Authorities said they were investigating the origin of the threat, which was received at 10:50 p.m. local time (9:50 p.m. ET), and were looking to identify who was behind it. They didn t say exactly how the threat was made. Bomb-sniffing dogs were used to comb through the plane and passengers luggage in Halifax. No explosive device was found, police said, according to CNN.

Sparkling Devices Information

A recent change in New York State Penal Law now allows for the sale and use of a specific category of consumer fireworks known as Sparkling Devices.

Sparkling Devices are ground based or handheld devices that produce a shower of colored sparks and or a colored flame, audible crackling or whistling noise and smoke. The law limits the type, size and construction of Sparkling Devices and requires that these devices must be hand held or mounted on a base or spike and be limited in sizes that range from 1 to 500 grams of pyrotechnic composition.

Sale and use of Sparkling Devices will be legal only in counties and cities that have enacted a local law pursuant to section 405.00 of the Penal Law of NY.

OFPC has developed a certification process that is outlined in the documents below.

    Emergency and critical care veterinary technicians are qualified to assist veterinarians with a variety of emergency procedures and critical care situations. They must be able to react quickly and remain calm under pressure to assist with emergency cases as they arrive.

    Emergency and critical care vet techs routinely see animals that have been poisoned, hit by cars, burned, or injured in fights.

    Routine responsibilities for emergency vet techs may vary from one clinic to the next but often include duties such as being on call in the intensive care unit, monitoring vitals, placing catheters, taking x-rays, cleaning wounds, applying casts or bandages, handling surgical equipment, giving injections, taking blood samples, giving fluids, and updating case files.

    The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America recognizes eleven specialty certifications for veterinary technicians. The currently recognized specialties include anesthesia, internal medicine, dental, surgical, emergency critical care, clinical pathology, clinical practice, equine, behavior, zoo, and nutrition.

    The Academy of Veterinary Emergency Critical Care Technicians offers specialist certification to licensed vet techs that have completed at least three years or 5760 hours of work in the field of emergency and critical care, at least 25 documented hours of continuing education, a year-long case log that documents at least 50 cases, and four in depth case reports. Techs meeting these requirements must pass the AVECCT certification exam to achieve specialty recognition.

    Certified emergency critical care vet techs may have preference over other candidates when applying for positions at emergency clinics due to their advanced skills in the field.

    Salary

    While the salaries of veterinary technician specialists may vary, they generally earn slightly more than the average for all veterinary technicians due to their experience and advanced professional certification.

    While the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) does not separate out veterinary technician specialists from the more general category of all veterinary technicians and technologists, the most recent BLS salary survey of 2012 reported a yearly salary of $30,290 ($14.56 per hour). The lowest 10 percent in the field earned less than $21,030, while the highest 10 percent in the field earned more than $44,030. SimplyHired.com reported a slightly higher average salary of $33,000 for emergency vet techs.

    UPDATED: Sunday, Nov. 22 at 8.20 p.m. AEST: In a statement emailed to Mashable, Turkish Airlines confirmed a bomb alert had caused the diversion of flight TK2 to Halifax. After a security check that found nothing suspicious, the flight is set to continue to Istanbul, the airline said.

    A Turkish Airlines flight from New York to Istanbul diverted and made an emergency landing in Nova Scotia, Canada on early Sunday morning local time after a threat was reportedly made against the aircraft.

    Flight TK2, which took off from New York’s John F. Kennedy airport Saturday headed for Ataturk Airport in Istanbul landed at Halifax Stanfield International at 12:53 a.m. AST, according to a tweet from Halifax Airport. Two hundred and fifty-six people were said to be on board.

    On Twitter, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Nova Scotia, confirmed the agency was responding to reports of a bomb threat aboard the plane.

People who volunteer can work flexible hours – as few as two hours per week, once a month, etc.

    MVH recognizes that everyone has special talents and the concierge who manages the Ask Me! Greeter program matches each person’s talent or strength with where they can make the greatest difference in the hospital.

    The Orthopedic Institute
    The Orthopedic Institute at Monongahela Valley Hospital is changing the way that patients and their families experience joint replacement. This proven program is centered around the fundamental principle of wellness and volunteers play an active role in the patient experience. Volunteers work beside the medical and professional staff as they provide care to patients. They support patients – serving-one-on-one – sometimes even as an extended family ‘coach’ during therapy and group activities when needed. The Orthopedic Institute volunteers also assist with the pre-op classes, group therapy sessions, group and reunion lunches, preparing and cleaning equipment for physical therapy, preparing patient information packets and visiting with and encouraging patients.

    If you haven’t noticed from our frequent postings about them, we find odd airplane landings to be completely fascinating. It’s a terrifying kind of thrill, seeing a pilot safely land a plane in spite of inclement weather or faulty equipment. but nothing gets the blood rushing quite like an unplanned landing in the middle of traffic.

    Although I can’t imagine how frightening the landing might have been for the passengers in the plane, the dashcam footage of an impromptu landing on a busy street in Orange County, California is so ludicrous that it’s hard not to laugh.

    “Are you kidding me?” says the man who accidentally caught the landing on video as the plane glides by, almost fitting in with the rest of the passing cars as a group of drivers sit at a stoplight and watch.

    According to the official report from the Orange County Register last week, the plane was occupied by an instructor and a student, but the reason for the emergency landing was never specified. Thankfully, neither the plane nor the passengers were injured during the landing, which is a minor miracle considering the fact that it was rush hour when the plane landed.

    The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) are monitoring the Zika virus outbreak spreading through Central and South America, Mexico, and parts of the Caribbean, including U.S. territories.     At approximately 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, a major landslide occurred 4 miles east of Oso, Wash. (and 17 miles east of Arlington, Wash.), in OSHA Region X when a portion of a hillside collapsed. Mud and debris from engulfed residential sites slid across the North Fork area of the Stillaguamish River in Snohomish County.

    The area where the mudslide occurred experienced up to 200 percent normal rainfall during the previous 45 days. Nearby Arlington, Washington reported 7.33 inches of rain that month, almost double the average for March and the area’s fourth-wettest March on record.

    A Turkish Airlines flight traveling from Istanbul, Turkey, to Frankfurt, Germany, was diverted to Nuremberg, Germany, after an unattended suspicious mobile device was found on board. According to Express UK. the plane carrying 124 passengers landed safely after pilots hit the panic alarm following the discovery of a derelict mobile phone.

    Turkish newspaper Antalya Ajans reported that the airliner suffered a bomb scare at 30,000ft after an unclaimed cell phone was found on board shortly after it entered German airspace. It is not clear in what circumstances the device was found and specialist security teams began combing the aircraft shortly after it landed, reports Express UK .

    Turkish Airlines flight TK1617 was met on the runway by several emergency vehicles. Despite the frightening ordeal, however, everyone on board made it off the aircraft safely. An investigation into where the cell phone came from or who it might have belonged to is said to be ongoing at this time.

    Authorities have yet to say whether or not the device posed any kind of actual threat.

    This is not the first piece of news involving Turkish travel to be reported today. Just hours ago, Turkish Airlines announced that they would be canceling all flights between Istanbul and Egyptian city Sharm el-Sheikh until January 1 due to safety concerns. According to the Middle Eastern Monitor. the airline s decision came just two weeks after the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a travel warning to Sharm el-Sheikh.

    Citizens should consider risks in the region when planning their visit to Sharm el-Sheikh, said the ministry in a statement.

    This travel warning was issued after a Russian passenger plane crashed in Egypt s Sinai Peninsula on October 31. It is widely believed that a bomb took out that plane and killed all 224 passengers on board.

    According to CNN, Moscow believes that Turkey took down the plane on purpose in connection with ISIS. The motive: oil trade protection.

    Secondly, the Turkish Airlines flight with the onboard emergency landed just hours after an explosion near a metro station in Istanbul. According to CNBC, the mayor has confirmed that the explosion was caused by a pipe bomb. As of now, reports indicate that five people have been injured in that incident. There has been at least one report of a fatality, but that has not been confirmed.

    Atilla Aydiner, the mayor of the Bayrampasa district on the European side of the city, spoke on live television after the explosion hit the industrial and residential area near the height of evening rush hour. An Istanbul police source told NBC News that evidence of a small hand-made bomb had been found outside the entrance of the metro station, reports CNBC.

    Turkish Airlines flight TK1617 wasn t the first aircraft in the country s fleet to be diverted due to security concerns. Just over a week ago, another flight headed to New York City from Istanbul was diverted to Canada because of a bomb threat. According to CNN, all 256 passengers and crew members were safe after the flight landed safely at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia.

    Authorities said they were investigating the origin of the threat, which was received at 10:50 p.m. local time (9:50 p.m. ET), and were looking to identify who was behind it. They didn t say exactly how the threat was made. Bomb-sniffing dogs were used to comb through the plane and passengers luggage in Halifax. No explosive device was found, police said, according to CNN.
