Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 Mobile Applications – A Tale of 2 Phone Apps

What is new in CRM for Phone Express?

The CRM for Phone Express app is the same app that we ve had since CRM 2011. It also closely mirrors the Mobile Web Express experience. What is new for 2015 version is support for Cortana voice commands. which is an exclusive feature for Windows phones. These commands allow you to use voice command on your Windows phone to open the app, find records or jump straight to creating a new record. Very useful!

Cortana voice commands will continue to work on Windows 10 Mobile when it launches later this year. And it s also a supported feature for the new CRM for Phones app! There have not been any announcements if this is coming to other platforms outside of Windows at this time, but we sure hope so.

What does the new CRM for Phones app do?

Imagine the features of the CRM for Tablet app adapted to the smartphone small screen size—one tab at a time. Users simply swipe left and right along the Dashboards and Forms to see all of the same content. There are a number of items that are different in this app from the tablet app, however—namely the Views are limited to just a few columns and some of the preview features are not yet available.

Check out this video from Microsoft showing off a few the features of the new CRM for Phones app.

Here are a few screenshots and features side by side comparing the two Phone apps:

*New* CRM for Phones app

For Phone Express, the home experience is the Navigation menu. Express does not support pinning to Home or Dashboards.

Tap the menu icons and Navigation slides in. Here Dashboards are new for Phones, allowing users to select from any Mobile-enabled Dashboards available to them. Offline Drafts, if any, would also appear in this Navigation at the top, just like they do in the Tablet app.

4 columns are now visible and Primary Name field will always take the largest font and be first. Remove one column if entity uses an Image.

This is the deafault landing screen for a record. It now displays the Header fields, Related Records, Owner and Process bar, all in the first Tab. Users can edit the values in the Header fields right from here. Navigating from this record triggers saving, just like the Tablet app.

As you can see from the legend at the bottom of the form, we swiped one tab over to see the first tab on the form. Note the process bar stays on top the entire time. Any blank fields remain visible and everything is editable that is enabled to be.When users tap on the Process bar, as shown below, it will expand full screen to enable interaction. In the Tablet app, this is always expanded as one of the tabs on the form.

The button to make a phone call is now easier to locate on Accounts and Contact records. For now, the email icons sends users outside of the CRM app and is not tracked with Set Regarding. We know a way to work around this limitation.

There are many more features of the new CRM for Phones app. We encourage you to explore as CRM Online Trials are generally available and are an easy way to experience the app for yourself.

Can t upgrade to use the CRM for Phones app yet?

If you are not yet upgraded to CRM 2015 Online Update 1 (7.1) or if you are a CRM 2015 On-Premise (7.0) customer, test and validate that your CRM is configured correctly for the CRM for Tablets app that is available to you today. This should prepare you to be ready for the new CRM for Phone app client.

Where do I get all these apps?

by JoeCRM July 23, 2015 7 people are discussing this now

When I tap a phone number from my Android phone express, it dials the number but doesn t create a phone call activity. It seems so obvious that it should. Am I missing a setting or customization step?

Nikita S Polyakov

Kristi the Phone Call activity is opened in Create mode, so user must complete the activity details (like Notes) and Save the activity to persist it in CRM, it does not do so automatically. What the expectation is that when user finishes the Phone Call, they move back into the CRM App, where this activity is already on the screen. Let us know what you are experiencing is different. There is no additional or special configuration for this feature.

There is also a lack of support for emails sent by mobile devices. It s a shortfall that MS have discussed for sometime but there is no fix on the horizon

Nikita S Polyakov

New Folder Tracking feature can help with that sometimes. This is still the alternative approach for sending tracked emails right now, still applies the new Phone app:

I realize this post is months old, but I can t seem to find an answer to this question, so here goes .When I create an activity (Phone Call, Appt, Taks) on the mobile app, it does not synchronize down to my Outlook client. Is this a limitation of the app, or is it something I need to configure? Add appointment to app, shows in CRM, never syncs down to Outlook.

Hi Carol This is something that needs to be configured. Once you create the activity in CRM we need configure the sync between crm and exchange. We have two options. A server side sync which is the prefered option for crm online /o365 or B The outlook crm client. Option B requires the outlook crm client and the sync only occurs when outlook is open. WeTransfer – Gratis Grote Bestanden Verzenden #wetransfer #ipad

Grote Bestanden Uitwisselen

How to Develop iOS Apps on Windows PCs by Using a

Develop iOS Apps on a Windows PC

If you don’t have a Mac computer, iOS development can be challenging.

If you’re passionate about your app idea. you won’t let a computer get in your way.

Developing iOS apps on a PC is possible.I’ll show you how to do it in the iOS app development tutorial.

Here’s a rundown of the basics that you’ll need to get started.

Get a decent PC that can handle the job

You don’t need to build a supercomputer, but you’ll need something with a bit of processing power. Sadly, the NeoGeo in your garage won’t cut it (though you could fire it up to play some Oregon Trail.)

It’s even better if you can put together a Hackintosh. which lets you run OS X on an unsupported computer. If you want your PC to cross over to the Dark Side, you can follow these instructions .

Install a virtual PC application with Mac OS X

Another option is to simulate an installation of Mac OS X on Windows.

It’s fairly easy to do with virtualization software like VirtualBox. VirtualBox is free and open source.

You’ll also need a copy of Mac OS X. You can buy it online from the Apple Store or get it from someone who already owns a Mac computer. The exact installation steps will depend on your setup and software. Follow this VirtualBox tutorial to begin.

Yet another option is to try a service like MacinCloud. It’s basically a remote Mac rental service that allows you to use Apple hardware through the Internet. You may have experienced something similar with remote services like Teamviewer. It’s a good option but can be slow.

Install Xcode on your Hackintosh or OS X virtual machine

If you’re developing an iOS app using a Hackintosh or an OS X virtual machine, you’ll NEED to install XCode. It’s an integrated development environment (IDE) made by Apple that contains everything you need to build an iOS app.

After OS X and XCode are installed, you can begin coding and using the iOS Simulator to test apps just like you would on a real Mac computer.

Consider cross-platform development tools

If you don’t want to use a Hackintosh or an OS X virtual machine, think about using a cross-platform development tool.

Smartface and Xamarin are the big players. These tools allow you to develop iOS apps on Windows, using a common code base.

The catch it can take time and effort to learn these platforms. You’ll also need to use a Mac or MacinCloud for App Store submission.

If you know JavaScript, you can try Smartface. Or if you know C#, Xamarin might be a better place to start. Both platforms have limited free plans.

Create provisioning profiles and certificates

Have you installed OS X and Xcode on Windows on your PC?

Now you need to signup for an Apple Developer account and create a couple basic files.

Don’t stress, after a couple runs this is easy as pie.

You’ll need to “sign off” on the code before your app can be tested or run on real devices. This isn’t just when developing apps with a PC, every iOS developer needs to sign their code.

Creating Certificates

A special certificate is needed that allows you to sign a project. There are 2 types of Certificates and Provisioning Profiles. Development (for testing), and Production (for submitting to the Store).

If you have access to OS X, you can create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) using the Keychain Access app.

If you don’t have OS X, it’s a bit more complicated. But again, not impossible. You’ll have to run a few different commands and of course have access to the Apple Developer Program .

Here are the steps for creating a Certificate:

Step 1: Open Keychain Access and Request a Certificate

Fist step is to create a file that links your computer to Xcode development and distribution.

Open Keychain Access and select Request a Certificate from a Certificate Authority .

Step 2: Enter Certificate Information

I personally like saving my certificate request to my computer. Click Saved to disk and enter a Common Name for your file. It is still required to enter a User Email Address, but it is not used for soliciting anything or needed for using your certificate.

Step 3: Upload your Certificate Signing Request to the Apple Developer Portal

Next we’re going to upload our Certificate Signing Request to the Apple Developer Portal. If you haven’t registered as an Apple Developer, do so now at it will cost you $99.

Click on the Certificates, Identifiers Profiles.

Next, select Certificates .

Step 4: Select Type of Certificate

There are several certificate styles, but you will need 1 Development Certificate to test apps and 1 Production Certificate to upload to iTunes.

If a Certificate area is greyed out like below, it is because you have created your limit. Click on the Certificate type on the left sidebar and revoke 1 or more certificates.

Next you will be asked to upload the Certificate Signing Request we created earlier.

No prob, we already took care of this.

Click Continue and upload the Certificate Signing Request. Then select Generate .

Step 5: Download and Open

Once you’ve generated your Certificate, download it to your computer.

Find your Certificate that was just generated and double click it.

If you want to create another certificate, or a Development Certificate, go back and follow the same steps but click on Development Certificate instead of Distribution.

To view your Certificates, open Keychain Access and click Certificates .

Tip: It’s a good idea to right click on your certificates and click export. You can export certificates to P12 files so if someone else not using your computer wants to edit a code of yours they can.

Submit to the App Store

So your iOS app is complete? You’ve overcame all the obstacles and you’re ready for the final step!

All you have to do is submit it to the App Store. If you have a Hackintosh or an OS X virtual machine, this process will only take about 2 minutes.

But submission can be a bit more difficult if you don’t have OS X. You can’t upload an app from a Windows PC to iTunes Connect because you need a program called Application Uploader…which is only available on Macs. The easiest way to get around this problem is to borrow a friend’s Mac or use a service like MacinCloud.

If you are still having trouble, be sure to ask someone inside Bluecloud Select. They will probably know because we have done this so many times before.

What’s the bottom line?

This isn’t brain surgery, but it is a pain in the ass. Success is a journey and the road you take to get there might not be easy. But you can do it if you’re motivated.

How do you upload your iOS apps from your PC?

  • Twitter on the App Store #twitter, #twitter, #inc., #news, #social #networking,

    Unable to Log On

    by Jedi Knight Calv

I reloaded this app on my newer iPhone after it developed some sort of crashing issue (something I assumed was isolated to the app on my phone). However when I go to log on, it doesn’t accept my information because the app still believes my user name to be something that it no longer is. No matter how many times I reloaded the app and reset my password (and entered in the correct, reset password) I was not able to gain access to my own account!

The clear solution to this is to allow users an option to enter their user name, even when redownloading this application from the iCloud.

Please take heed of this review and update the app. I love it, but if I can’t use it with this incarnation of the software, this version of the app is not any good.

The only thing I do not like about pof site is that it dictates what user age group you are allowed to contact or browse. I am 43 male and I can not browse profiles of girls younger than 29 years old! Why? On the other hand they would match me with ladies up to 60+. I do not know if this rule only apply to the free membership or not. Over all pof is much better than many dating sites I have used. I hope they would allow people the freedom of choosing what they want while continuing to give members the choice of using filters. Thank you.

The official app is the best app

For years I used Tweetbot but as my primary Twitter client but always had the official Twitter app in the background for certain and uses. I decided to try the Twitter app full-time this week and man am I impressed. Using the official Twitter app breathes new life into Twitter, makes me much more excited and invested in using the platform. This app has polish that Tweetbot doesn’t have. It also supports features such as poll and moments that other apps don’t. After a week of using the official Twitter client, I am now regretting I hadn’t switched much earlier.

Lead management software for sales people – You Don – t

Most businesses do not need a tool to manage their customers,
they need a tool to turn their prospects INTO customers!
