Travel Nurse Job Description

To understand what traveling nurses are and what they do, you need to read a travel nurse’s job description. Travel nurses are Registered Nurses who are licensed and who travel across the country providing nursing care on a short-term basis. They work short-term assignments filling in empty positions at various facilities.

This flexibility enables them to work in various environments while learning new techniques and enhancing their expertise. Most of these short-term assignments are from 4 to 12 weeks long. Many travel nurses are offered permanent positions.

It takes a certain type of person to make the best of this career choice. You, first of all, must love to travel, and you should be the kind of person who loves meeting new people.

There are countless thousands of people who go to the same workplace day in and day out and are satisfied. Many of them wish they could have a change now and then. A travel nurse gets to enjoy this kind of freedom. They see new places, new faces, and hone their craft while they do it.

Becoming a Travel Nurse

An important part of the travel nurse’s job description is finding a good staffing company or agency. You need to look around a while and do some comparisons before deciding. Many travel nurses have taken the time to work at least a year within a hospital setting.

Your education requirements are that you are a Registered Nurse. This means you have had career training in one of the various two- or four-year programs. Be sure that the programs you are involved with are accredited by the NLNAC (National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission). After you complete your career training, you will then need to take the exams from the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses).

Salaries, Outlook, and Opportunity

Another benefit within the travel nurse’s job description is a good salary, and getting to keep most of it is another. With free housing, much more of your money can be kept for yourself. Beginning travel nurses can earn a salary that falls between $50K and $70K, while the more experienced can earn over $90K.

And the career outlook for nurses has been good for a long time. And this is expected to continue over the next decade. The healthcare industry continues to grow at a very rapid pace, and the shortages are the reason for the demand for travel nurses. They fill in places for shortages.

If you are excited by the travel nurse’s job description and think this career choice fits you, then you have the opportunity to break into it with the proper career training. Online distance education makes this far more convenient than ever before.

You can get online and research some online schools in order to get enrolled and begin your online courses. When you are finished with your career training and begin working in your new field, you will see firsthand what the travel nurse’s job description is all about. Get enrolled today.

How to Answer Behavioral Interview Questions – The Muse #the #ultimate

#

How to Answer Tell Me About a Time When. Interview Questions

You’ve reviewed your resume. practiced your elevator pitch. checked out common behavioral interview questions. and reviewed a few stories you can share during the interview. All is well, and you’re feeling confident. And when the interviewer says, “Tell me about a time you disagreed with your supervisor,” you are ready to go and launch straight into a story about that one time you bravely confronted the director of marketing at your previous company about a new campaign you had a bad feeling about.

OK, so maybe that doesn’t sound like you—yet. Let’s take a step back and talk about how you can get there.

Pick the Right Story

All these “Tell me about a time when…” questions require stories. As a hiring manager, it’s incredibly unsatisfying to interview someone who has no stories to share. After all, how can someone know what you can do if you can’t talk about what you’ve done? Don’t be that job candidate.

So, how do you find the right stories to share? Go through the job description and highlight all the soft skills that are featured. You’ll likely find things like “ability to work on a team and independently,” “comfort with multitasking,” or “strong communication skills.” Then, come up with an example of a time you demonstrated each of these traits—though keep in mind that you don’t necessarily need a different example for each. In fact, it’s better to come up with stories that are flexible, since you’ll likely have to adapt them to the exact questions anyway.

There are, of course, a few things that interviewers frequently like to ask about that will not be on the job descriptions. Be prepared for “negative” questions, like “Tell me about a time you had to deal with a conflict on your team” or “Tell me about a time you failed.” It’s not that interviewers are out to get you—how you handle conflict and failure are good things to know—it’s just not the best idea to put “must deal with frequent team conflict” in a job description.

Finally, brainstorm a few more questions that could potentially come up based on the position you’re applying for and your particular situation. For example, if you have a big gap on your resume, you’ll want to be prepared to talk about why you’re no longer at your previous job (more on that here ), or if you’re coming into a newly merged department, you should be prepared to discuss a time you’ve been part of a big change.

WANT TO MAKE AN AMAZING FIRST IMPRESSION.

and land the job of your dreams?

Talk to an Interview Coach Today

Make a Statement

Once you have your stories, it’s time to think a little deeper about why these questions are asked in the first place. What does the interviewer actually want to know?

Take a few seconds to think about this before you start answering the question—even if you have the perfect story prepared—so that you can make an appropriate introductory statement about essentially what the moral of your story is going to be. The reason for this is that even though the interviewer is specifically asking you to tell a story, the idea is that he or she will learn something about the way you do things. The problem with this is that what the interviewer gleans from your story could be very different from what you were hoping to share.

For example, say you tell that story about standing up to the director of marketing when asked to talk about conflict with a previous supervisor. You eloquently move through the story about how you shared your hesitation about the new marketing campaign to no avail, but once the initial numbers came in, it was clear that you were right. You triumphantly showed the performance to the director, and she agreed to scrap the campaign. While this story is definitely suitable, there are actually a few different ways it could be taken the wrong way. The interviewer could hone in on the fact that you really didn’t do anything until it was too late or that you were unpersuasive or a poor communicator the first time you raised concerns about the campaign.

To make sure your stories are as effective as possible, make a statement before you start telling the story. In this particular example, it might be something like this, “I learned early on in my professional career that it’s fine to disagree if you can back up your hunches with data.” Now, when you tell your story, it’s not about the various ways you could have approached the situation better, but about how you learned from that experience and how you use it to inform future disagreements.

Finish Strong

So, when it comes to these behavioral interview questions. have some stories prepared and then practice framing them based on the question you’re asked. Practice, practice, practice, and you’ll sound like a natural in no time. The final piece of the puzzle is wrapping up your answers well. You don’t want to ruin your perfect frame and story by ending your response with, “And… yeah.”

Instead, try connecting the story back to the company or position. Quickly explaining how your experience would be useful in the position you’re interviewing for is always a strong way to wrap up. Another way to finish up a response is to give the “in short” version of the answer. For example, “In short, it’s not that I’m an amazing multitasker—I just set and review my priorities frequently.” Wrapping up an interview answer (see more in-depth tips here ) is such a commonly neglected area of preparation, but it can really help you nail the “strong communicator” impression, so don’t disregard it when you’re practicing.

The thing people assume about these questions is that they’re all about the story. And, yes, that is a critical component. But even if your story isn’t exactly what the interview question asked for, if it’s framed well and you go the extra mile to tell the interviewer what he or she should take away from it, you’ll actually end up making a stronger impression.

So, don’t stress too much about having the perfect stories lined up or the exact relevant experience. Instead, focus on the messages you’re trying to communicate to the hiring manager, and back them up with the stories that you have.

Holiday rep job description

%img src=”http://www.totaljobs.com/careers-advice/job-profile/travel-leisure-jobs/%3C/p%3E%0D%0A%3Cp%3E/media/tj/jobseekers/careers-advice/inflatable-ball.ashx” /%

So, what will I actually be doing?

Tour operators require reps to work throughout the summer and winter seasons to ensure that holiday makers have an enjoyable trip. You’re the first point of contact for customers so be prepared to answer questions and resolve problems.

Your day will usually start with meeting the excited new arrivals at the airport and overseeing transfers to their accommodation. From there your duties may include:

  • Giving an introductory talk on the facilities and the area
  • Accompanying holidaymakers on excursions
  • Helping to arrange entertainment
  • Completing paperwork (yes, even reps have admin )

Of course, holidays rarely run completely smoothly and you may need to deal with unexpected dilemmas from lost passports to medical emergencies, so be prepared to deal with anything.

%img src=”http://www.totaljobs.com/careers-advice/job-profile/travel-leisure-jobs/%3C/p%3E%0D%0A%3Cp%3E/media/tj/job-descriptions/search_for_jobs_like_this.ashx?w=508 h=98 as=1″ /%

Find holiday jobs now

See all of our current holiday vacancies or sign up to have new holiday jobs emailed directly to you.

The finer details.

The summer season runs from April to September and the winter season (ski reps) work October to December. And it’s not as easy as it looks, definitely not a nine to five position, you’ll be on the go for 12 hours a day, six days a week.

So what can you do when the holiday season is over? People who love working as a holiday rep can progress to becoming team leaders or resort managers. Others find work as a travel agent or tour guide. The skills you learn as a holiday rep (customer service. time management, events organising) are transferable to many other careers so it looks great on your CV .

Money, money, money

Newcomers will earn about £450 to £500 per month while more experienced reps can earn up to £800 per month. But there are plenty of bonuses including:

  • Free accommodation
  • Reduced or free meals at the hotel
  • Free flights to and from your location
  • Reduced holiday costs from the tour operator

The good points.

“Being your own boss while in a lovely destination and helping clients to get the most out of their holiday. Clients are generally very grateful for any help you can offer, from taking them to hospital if a child has had an accident to pointing them in the direction of the best beaches and good restaurants,” say the reps at Sunvil Holidays.

If that wasn’t enough, you’ll have the chance to learn a new language, meet a range of different people and, as entry requirements are very flexible, gain valuable work experience. what’s not to love?

and the bad

“Flight problems and delays. There is so little that you can do and the airport very quickly becomes a very unpleasant place to be. Trying to get accurate information for your clients is a nightmare!”

If you’ve ever gone away and seen the reps leading a pub crawl, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was all sunbathing and partying, but it you’d be wrong, it’s as much hard work as it is fun.

Is there study involved?

There are no set requirements to become a holiday rep but many tour operators are looking for four GCSEs (grade C or above) and experience working in customer care. You also need to be aged 18 plus (sometimes this can be 21 and over).

Applicants with.

  • A qualification in the industry (such as a BTEC Diploma in travel and tourism)
  • A working knowledge of one or more foreign languages
  • Administrative experience

. will find themselves a step ahead of the rest. A qualification in childcare is essential for anyone wanting to work as a children’s rep running holiday clubs.

Once your application has been successful you’ll need to complete an intense 2 to 4-week induction course run by the tour operator. The course will cover subjects such as health and safety, dealing with customer complaints, organising excursions and exchange rates.

OK, I’m interested. But is it really the job for me?

Anyone with a love of travel, bags of energy. plenty of initiative, polished customer service skills and lots of patience will make a first-class holiday rep.

Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor: Job Description and Requirements #how #to

#

Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor: Job Description and Requirements

Source: *U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Job Description

Licensed drug and alcohol counselors deal with individuals who may be addicted to alcohol and/or prescription or illegal drugs. Counselors monitor their clients’ progress by taking notes and making reports throughout the course of treatment. Because substance abuse problems affect more than just the individual, counselors may also provide support to friends and family members. They may work with other health care professionals to determine the optimal treatment plan and find ongoing support for an addict upon release from treatment, such as a 12-step program.

Job Requirements

While mental health counselors in general need to possess at least a master’s degree in order to become licensed, licensure for drug and alcohol counselors depends on the state. Some states may only require a high school education and certification. The National Board for Certified Counselors offers the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential, as well as specialty certifications such as the Master Addictions Counselor (MAC) credential (www.nbcc.org ).

To earn the NCC credential, candidates must complete a certain amount of relevant coursework, pass an exam and possess counseling experience. For the MAC credential, candidates must first already have earned the NCC credential and then complete coursework, pass an exam and possess counseling experience relevant to the topic of addiction.

Even if postsecondary education is not required for licensure in one’s chosen state, it is a good foundation from which to start a counseling career. Colleges offer certificate and associate degree programs in substance abuse counseling, which may include courses in the science of addiction, sociology and general counseling. For those who wish to pursue additional education, earning a bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology may be a helpful option to consider.

Career Outlook

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that substance abuse and behavioral disorder counseling positions were predicted to grow at a faster-than-average rate of 22% between 2014 and 2024. Substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselors made a mean yearly wage of $42,920 in May 2015.

Licensed drug and alcohol counselors work with patients recovering from alcoholism or drug addition. They may work individually with patients or in group settings, and they may also offer counseling to the families of patients. Those in this profession have a mean salary of about $43,000 per year.

    Eye on Ethics

Reflective Practice in Social Work — The Ethical Dimension
    By Frederic G. Reamer, PhD
    April 2013

Recently, I received an urgent voicemail message from a hospital social worker: “Please get back to me as soon as possible. I have a meeting tomorrow morning with our head of human resources, and I’m very nervous about it.”

Later in the day, I connected with the social worker and learned the following: He had been employed by the hospital for seven years and had never been disciplined. His current predicament began when his immediate supervisor called him in to discuss concerns about possible boundary violations and an alleged inappropriate dual relationship with a hospital patient. The social worker explained to me that in his personal life he is actively involved in a community-based group of parents who adopted children from China. The group sponsors a wide range of activities to support and enhance the children’s ethnic identity. Through this involvement, the social worker said, he and his wife had become very friendly with several other adoptive parents.

About three weeks earlier, one of the parents who had become a good friend was admitted to the social worker’s hospital for treatment of a chronic, debilitating infection. The friend did not receive social work services. During the friend’s hospital stay, the social worker occasionally stopped by his room to say hello and inquire about the friend’s health. The patient’s attending physician had collaborated professionally with the social worker in other hospital cases and was well aware of the patient’s friendship with the social worker.

One afternoon during the patient’s hospital stay, the physician contacted the social worker and explained that the patient was distraught after having just learned that he was diagnosed with bone cancer. According to the social worker, the physician asked the social worker to visit the patient and offer emotional support. The social worker visited the patient in his room and spent about an hour helping his friend process the distressing medical news.

The social worker documented this patient encounter in the hospital chart. During a random quality-control review of social workers’ chart entries, the hospital’s social work supervisor read the note and became concerned because the social worker had not been assigned to provide social work services to this patient. The supervisor learned of the social worker and patient’s friendship and notified the director of human resources, who documented this “incident” in the social worker’s personnel record and asked to meet with the social worker.

    The Nature of Reflective Practice
In 1983, the late scholar Donald Schon published his influential and groundbreaking book The Reflective Practitioner: How Professionals Think in Action . Schon’s thesis, based on his extensive empirical research, was that the most skilled and effective professionals have the ability to pay critical attention to the way they conduct their work at the same time that they do their work. Schon coined the terms “knowing-in-action” and “reflection-in-action,” which suggest that some professionals can take a step back and think hard about what they are doing while they are doing it. The concepts are akin to the widely used social work concept “use of self.”

Ordinarily the concepts of knowing-in-action and reflection-in-action are applied to practitioners’ cultivation and use of technical skill, whether in surgery, architecture, town planning, engineering, dentistry, or psychotherapy. In my view, and as the above case demonstrates, social workers would do well to extend the application of these compelling concepts to their identification and management of ethical issues in the profession. Ideally, effective practitioners would have the ability to recognize and address ethical issues and challenges as they arise in the immediate context of their work, not later when someone else points them out. Put another way, social workers would have a refined “ethics radar” that increases their ability to detect and respond to ethical issues.

Of course, the most important benefit is client protection. However, an important by-product is self-protection, that is, the increased likelihood that social workers will protect themselves from ethics-related complaints.

    Implementing Reflective Ethics Practice
Certainly the hospital social worker who called me with panic in his voice would have benefited from reflective ethics practice and highly sensitive ethics radar. Had he reflected on the ethical dimensions of the boundary challenges that emerged when he interacted with his friend and hospital patient, it is likely that this well-meaning practitioner would have avoided his unpleasant encounter with the human resources department. The social worker’s decision to visit his friend was not the error; that was a humane and compassionate gesture. The error, rather, was not reflecting on his role in that moment and managing the boundaries carefully, including discussing them with his friend and his supervisor.

In my experience, ethics-related reflection-in-action entails three key elements.

Knowledge: Skillful management of many ethical dilemmas requires knowledge of core concepts and prevailing standards. Ethics concepts are addressed in professional literature and standards exist in several forms, including relevant codes of ethics, agency policies, statutes, and regulations. For example, the National Association of Social Workers’ Codeof Ethics includes explicit standards pertaining to boundaries, dual relationships, and conflicts of interest (especially section 1.06). It would have been best for the hospital-based social worker to consult relevant literature and standards with regard to conflicts that can arise when a social worker encounters a friend or social acquaintance in the work setting. The hospital’s personnel policies also prohibit dual relationships that involve conflicts of interest.

In some cases, although not all, statutes and regulations address ethical issues. In the United States, both federal and state laws address various ethical issues, such as confidentiality, privileged communication, informed consent, and social workers’ ethical conduct. Such laws would not have been particularly helpful in the hospital social worker’s case, but often they are helpful and critically important, for example, when social workers must decide whether to disclose confidential information without clients’ consent to protect a third party from harm or whether parental consent is necessary to provide services to minors who seek help with substance abuse but insist that this information be withheld from their parents.

Transparency: Reflective social workers who sense an ethical issue share their concern with supervisors, colleagues, and appropriate administrators. An effective way to protect clients and practitioners alike is to avoid any suggestion that the ethical issue is being handled “in the dark.” Such clarity demonstrates social workers’ good faith efforts to manage ethical dilemmas responsibly. When appropriate, clients should be included in the conversation.

Process: Although some ethical decisions are clear-cut, many are not. The hospital social worker who contacted me was unsure about the best way to manage his involvement with a good friend who had become a patient. Unfortunately, the social worker did not notify his supervisor about the dilemma or seek consultation. He documented his lengthy hospital-room encounter with the patient, but doing so in the client’s hospital chart created the impression that the social worker was functioning in his professional capacity, not as a friend. My hunch is that had the social worker notified his supervisor of his friendship with the patient and made clear that any contact with the patient occurred as a friend, the social worker may have avoided any adverse personnel issues. What I have learned is that many ethical decisions are not simple events; they require a considerable, often painstaking, process.

During the course of the profession’s history, social workers have refined the art of reflective practice. Historically, these skills have been applied primarily to clinical, policy, advocacy, and administrative functions. Clearly, reflective practice should extend to ethics as well.

    — Frederic G. Reamer, PhD, is a professor in the graduate program of the School of Social Work, Rhode Island College. He is the author of many books and articles, and his research has addressed mental health, healthcare, criminal justice, and professional ethics.

    Part Time Accounting Jobs

    Part Time Accounting Job Overview

Maybe it only took you two days to memorize your multiplication tables, or perhaps you can add enormous figures without the benefit of the calculator app on your phone. If you have a head for numbers or an appreciation for detailed work, you might enjoy part-time accounting jobs.

Reduced hours give you more time for family, friends, and other pursuits, and many types of accounting jobs exist. You might work for a large corporation or a small firm, depending on your ideal work environment. Part time accounting jobs take many forms:

In small firms, part-time accounting clerks sometimes wear multiple hats. For example, they might form the company’s accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.

Part Time Accounting Job Education Requirements

The education required for part-time accounting jobs varies depending on the job description. Most positions require only a high school diploma, though advanced degrees help professionals earn promotions and higher salaries.

    Part Time Accounting Job Market

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that accounting positions will grow at an average rate of 11 percent through 2022, which matches the growth rate of other industries. Although many accounting professionals work full-time hours, the BLS reveals that about 25 percent work part time. In some cases, part-time accounting jobs become full-time at a later date, especially if the professional starts work as a temporary employee.

Part Time Accounting Job Salary Information

Since part-time accounting jobs encompass several industries and positions, it is difficult to determine the average or median salary. According to the BLS, professionals in bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing earn a median salary of $35,170 per year in full-time roles. Part time associates command smaller salaries by virtue of their reduced hours and their pay rates are often expressed in hourly wages and not annual salaries.

    Koala

    Travel agent job description

    %img src=”http://www.totaljobs.com/careers-advice/job-profile/travel-leisure-jobs/%3C/p%3E%0D%0A%3Cp%3E/media/tj/TestImagesGuidelines/travel-agent.ashx” /%

Knowing you’re going on holiday suddenly makes you happier in your everyday life as the thought of packing up a suitcase and leaving everything behind for a few weeks can bring joy to your day.

Working as a travel agent offers a fast-paced, fun environment where budding sales stars can hone their abilities.

So, what will I actually be doing?

Not everyone walks into a travel agency with a clear idea of where they’d like to go on holiday, so one of your main roles as a travel agent is to give well-informed, appropriate advice to clients about where and when to travel based on their needs. So if they hate hot weather, don’t send them to Australia in the summer.

    %img src=”http://www.totaljobs.com/careers-advice/job-profile/travel-leisure-jobs/%3C/p%3E%0D%0A%3Cp%3E/media/tj/job-descriptions/search_for_jobs_like_this.ashx?w=508 h=98 as=1″ /%

    The finer details.

Most travel agents are based in branches on the high street. although some agents do work in call centres. Branch travel agents usually work regular, 9-5, 35-40 hours per week including Saturday. Those based in a call centre may work more irregular hours but there are plenty of opportunities for part-time work for those with a busy schedule.

If the world of the travel agent suits your skills, it’s good to know there’s plenty of room for career progression. Travel agents can become a team leader in a call centre or a branch manager. And as you gain more experience, you can find work with bigger tour operators or work with agencies offering more specialised breaks such as adventure or trekking holidays.

    Money, money, money

With the world literally at your feet, how much can you expect to earn? Travel agents starting out can expect to earn around £12k but working hard and getting some experience goes a long way in this business and more seasoned travel agents can earn anything up to £30k.

Just like many sales roles, there are often bonuses and incentives to encourage sales which should nudge your salary upwards too.

    The good points.

“Getting feedback from a happy client, client loyalty and repeat business are three things that really give job satisfaction as a travel agent,” says Gemma Antrobus, managing director of Haslemere Travel and spokesperson for the AiTO Specialist Travel Agents.

“You will never become a millionaire as an agent, but every once in a while you get to live like one which is a great perk. The opportunities to travel the world and experience destinations that are on most people’s ‘wish list’ are endless.”

Perfect for those passionate about travelling, travel agents often get reductions off the cost of holidays with your employer so you can still dream about jet setting abroad even when you’re booking someone else’s holiday.

    and the bad

“Dealing with circumstances that are external to the travel industry and beyond our control, such as the ash cloud disruption. Clients that pick your brains then book the holiday themselves – usually online and often not even with an operator – are frustrating, too.”

    Is there study involved?

When it comes to this role, if you’re excited by the world around you and idea of travelling, it doesn’t matter if qualifications weren’t your forte at school. “You can train anyone on how to use GDS [a system that books and sells tickets for multiple airlines], customer service skills. how to close a sale and on destination and product knowledge,” says Gemma. “However, you can’t teach someone to be passionate about travel.”

You don’t need any specific qualifications to become a travel agent although many employers will expect at least a C grade in GCSE Maths and English. If you want to give yourself a head start, however, some of these qualifications will give your CV a boost.

    • NVQ Levels 2 3 in travel and tourism
    • BTEC HNC/HND in travel and tourism management
    • BA Hons in travel and tourism

OK, I’m interested. But is it really the job for me?

This job is all about the customer and helping to find and organise their dream holiday, so travel agents need to have finely-tuned customer service skills, a passion for the travel industry and a friendly, approachable manner. Other qualities that’ll set you on the road to success include:

    • Good attention to detail
    • Well organised
    • Competent IT skills
    • Patience

Plus, knowledge of another language is always an advantage when working in the travel industry.

Construction Engineer: Job Description, Outlook and Duties

Job Description of a Construction Engineer

Construction engineers are key cogs to successfully completing a construction project. The projects that they work on might include designing a drainage and sewage system, constructing a building or developing railroads or roadways. Construction engineers often focus on a specific type of construction project. Some of these specialties are:

    • Building – commercial housing or business building
    • Electrical – electrical systems
    • Mechanical – plumbing, heating or air conditioning
    • Highway or Heavy – bridges, airports, highways or water waste

Construction engineers often use computers when producing and analyzing their designs for a project. Their job requires being able to put together a good team to complete a project. Construction engineers need to possess the proper knowledge of estimating, planning and controlling the costs associated with construction projects. They may have an engineering degree and some construction work experience, or they may obtain a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering.

Construction engineers do a lot of their work from offices. They also work on location at job sites to visually inspect the work being performed. They usually work 40-hour weeks; however, some jobs require more time based on deadlines or design issues.

Find schools that offer these popular programs

    • Civil Engineering Technology
    • Construction Engineering Technologies, General
    • General Construction Engineering
    • Geotechnical Engineering
    • Structural Engineering
    • Transportation Engineering
    • Water Resources Engineering

    Job Duties of Construction Engineers

A construction engineer wears many hats when directing and assessing a project. They will survey the area where the job is to take place, paying special attention to environmental issues or government codes that need to be considered. Before a job starts, they might prepare reports on their findings and consult with others who have a hand in the project. Those parties might include environmental associations, government agencies and third-party construction companies. Construction engineers need to have a strong understanding of building codes, laws and regulations that might affect their projects.

They must estimate and determine the total cost of a project. The associated costs can include:

    • Site inspections
    • Tests regarding sewage, drainage or elevation levels
    • Materials
    • Equipment

Traveling Nurse: Job Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements

    Essential Information

A traveling nurse is a healthcare professional who assists chronically-ill or homebound patients, or helps medical facilities with staffing shortages. Along with the many duties associated with nursing, individuals employed in this occupation must also travel from location to location, including patients’ homes. Some traveling nurses move between hospitals, clinics and schools. Education prerequisites for this job vary, though a basic requirement is a nursing license. Voluntary certifications are also available.

Sources: *U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

    Job Duties for Traveling Nurses

Traveling nurses have a wide array of duties to perform, such as administering medication and preparing nutritionally-specific meals. Many nurses who travel to different locations also teach family members and caretakers about proper patient and medical care. Additional responsibilities for traveling nurses might include follow-up procedures after surgery or administering physical therapy.

    Traveling Nurse Responsibilities

Caring for patients who cannot leave their homes, traveling nurses administer medical care and monitor patients’ needs. Some school districts employ traveling nurses as a cost-cutting measure to administer medication to specific students. A traveling nurse can work independently, or for a health services organization.

    Requirements for Traveling Nurses

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the education requirements vary for individuals employed as traveling nurses (www.bls.gov ). Most employers prefer to hire candidates who are licensed practical (LPN) or registered nurses (RN). An LPN must have a high school diploma and a certificate from a nursing training program that has been approved by an official government agency. To become an RN, individuals will have to earn a diploma, associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing. A limited number of practicing traveling nurses will have graduate education in physical rehabilitation or gerontology.

Various local jurisdictions and employers have different certification and licensure standards for traveling nurses. To complete certification as an LPN or RN, candidates must demonstrate professional competency through an examination process, known as the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Certification for nurses is administered by state agencies responsible for governing health occupations.

Additional professional certification for home healthcare workers (who aren’t necessarily nurses) is offered by the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC), which requires membership fees and an entrance test. The NAHC also require candidates to finish 75 hours of specialized coursework focusing on home healthcare.

    Salary Information and Career Outlook

The BLS projects that the field of registered nurses will increase by 19% between 2012 and 2022, while the employment of licensed practical and vocational nurses will increase by 25% during the same decade. The BLS also reported that the median annual salary for registered nurses was $66,220 in May 2013; the same year, licensed practical and vocational nurses earned a median of $41,920 a year.

Travel Agent Job Description – Job Descriptions #travel #to #brazil

    Travel Agent Job Description

Travel agents assist clients with travel arrangements. This may include helping the client to choose and research a destination as well as booking tickets and reservations. A love of travel, and some experience visiting other parts of the world, is fundamental requirements for success in this field. In addition, travel agents must be adept salespeople, possess superb computer skills, and be able to communicate effectively. With proper training and depth of experience, travel agents can enjoy success in a fiercely competitive field.

Most travel jobs require or strongly prefer candidates with a degree or certificate in travel, hospitality, or a related field. Check out the programs below which offer free information:

    Travel Agent Job Responsibilities

Travel agents are mainly responsible for researching and booking travel arrangements for their clients. These travel arrangements may be a honeymoon, family vacation, or business trip. Regardless of the client’s reason for traveling, the travel agent should be able to offer advice on the destination and be knowledgeable about making transportation and accommodation recommendations.

These professionals should be able to provide their clients with a wealth of information regarding their destination. Data such as expected weather conditions, travel advisories, and documentation requirements should be part of the information provided to customers. Travel agents must keep abreast of developments in foreign countries that may influence travel arrangements or may make a particular destination unsafe for travel.

The work of a travel agent is sometimes stressful as last minute itinerary changes come up while a client is on their trip. Similarly, a travel agent can expect to be very busy during certain times of the year like summer vacation and the holiday season. People entering this profession should be able to cope with multiple deadlines and be able to remain calm in a stressful situation.

Travel agents must constantly be learning in order to keep up with technological advances and the offerings of resorts, tour operators, and transportation companies around the world. Much of this learning is accomplished on the Internet, however, many travel companies also publish materials that are sent out regularly to travel agents.

Much of the work of travel agents is completed on a computer or the telephone. Sitting at a desk for long periods of time is required and any travel agent must be possessed of a friendly, professional demeanor. Sales skills are especially important and as a travel agent becomes more experienced, they may decide to take on a management role or start their own agency.

Travel Agent Training and Education Requirements

The basic requirement to become a travel agent is usually the completion of a course at a vocational school or community college. Usually a certificate or an associate degree is enough to obtain an entry-level position as a travel agent. Some agents begin their career as an assistant to a travel agent or as a receptionist in a travel agency.

There are a few four year universities that offer a bachelor’s degree program in travel and hospitality. The more education a travel agent obtains, the greater their opportunities will be for advancement and better salary. It is also useful for travel agents to receive some education in other areas like history, geography, and business. History and geography knowledge will help the agent research destinations for their clients and help them make better informed recommendations. Business acumen is important if the agent wants to take on a management role or run their own agency.

    Travel Agent Salary and Wages

Several factors will influence the salary a travel agent will earn. Their ability to sell effectively may be single most important factor, but other things like their location will also dictate their rate of pay. The better the reputation and experience of the travel agent, the better salary they can generally command. Likewise, a larger travel agency will likely pay more than a smaller one will.

Most travel agents will earn between $24,000 and $38,000 annually. In some markets, travel agents may earn as much as $48,000. An agent employed part time can expect a smaller salary. Agents may also receive compensation in the form of bonuses and incentives. One of the major benefits travel agents receive is the opportunity to travel at reduced rates.*

    *According to the BLS, http://www.bls.gov/oco/

    Travel Agent Certifications

There is no formal certification process, however, travel agents who have a degree will have a much better chance of success. Those agents who choose to start their own agency must gain approval from agencies such as International Airlines Travel Agency Network before beginning operations. In order to gain this approval, they typically must have had experience as an agent at an established agency.

    Travel Agent Professional Associations

The American Society of Travel Agents is the largest such organization in the world. Their main role is to advocate for travel professionals and the travel industry. The association holds annual trade shows at which travel professionals may exchange ideas and learn about technological developments. The association’s mission is to facilitate the sale of travel products and membership in this organization signals the experience and professionalism of the travel agent.

    • Team: 10 active job slots ($99 per month)
    • Company: 20 active job slots ($149 per month)
    • Big Hiring: 50 active job slots ($199 per month)

If you choose to pay annually and up front, you ll receive two free months with any plan.

    Advantages

    1. Unlimited Applicants. There is no limit to the number of candidates that can apply to the posted jobs.
    2. Convenient. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time to a different plan.

    Disadvantages

    1. Job Boards Lack Major Players. Some of the larger sites like CareerBuilder are not among the job boards your listing will appear on. However, you can opt-in to post on Monster.com at either $145 for 14 days or $195 for 30 days, which is actually a discounted rate compared to the normal fees you d pay if you were go direct. Posting to Monster.com is not part of the ZipRecruiter subscription, and thus incurs an addition fee.
    2. Limited Phone Support. Phone support and live chat are available Monday through Friday 7am to 5pm Pacific time.
    3. Brief Free Trial. The four-day free trail may not be adequate to decide whether the service is right for your recruiting needs.
    4. Limited Guarantee. ZipRecruiter advertises a 100% guarantee. If you re dissatisfied for any reason, you can send an email and your previous month s payment will be refunded. However, since it can take longer than a month to find a suitable candidate, the guarantee seems to be a little less than 100%.

    Final Word

The recruiting industry has been overwhelmed since the economy took a tumble, as over-qualified candidates apply for anything they see just to earn a paycheck. To sort your way through the madness, give ZipRecruiter a shot. It stacks up well against the competition, especially with its candidate screening feature. This is something that you typically won t find with other services.

And don t forget about ZipRecruiter if you re on the other side of the table. It has a large job database you can utilize in your job search efforts as well.

Have you had any personal experience with ZipRecruiter ?

    Plant Manager Job Description

    WHAT DO PLANT MANAGERS DO?

Plant managers are the people who watch over and organize the daily operations of manufacturing plants and similar places. Plant managers oversee employees, production and efficiency, to make sure the plant is running smoothly, quickly, efficiently and safely.

Plant managers might oversee an entire location, or just a section of the operation. Plant managers maintain optimum operation by assigning workers, creating and keeping work and production schedules, hiring and training new employees, collecting and looking through data to find places of waste or places of improvement, keep an eye on worker safety and plant safety, monitor the production equipment to make sure that it stays in good working order, and repair or replace the equipment when needed.

Plant managers are the last line of defense for quality control when the item manufactured leaves the plant. They communicate with other departments or parts of the plant to make sure everything runs smoothly.

HOW MUCH DO PLANT MANAGERS MAKE?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), in 2010, plant managers made a median income of $41.91 per hour, or $87,160 a year.

    WHAT ARE THE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS?

Plant managers generally need at least a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, business administration or similar. Some plant workers, after years of experience can take management classes to become a plant manager. Larger plants may require their managers to have a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

Plant managers will often spend months training with the company they are hired by to understand the processes and inner workings of the plant. Certification is available but not required.

    JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • Interpersonal Skills: Plant managers must be able to speak with employees, other department managers and senior management.
    • Leadership Skills: Plant managers must be able to motivate employees to keep operations running smoothly.
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Plant managers must be able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it, such as identifying defects in the production line.
    • Time Management: Plant managers face production deadlines, shipping dates and more and must manage their time accordingly.

    THE FUTURE OF PLANT MANAGERS

Overseas competition means slower growth for manufacturing, and fewer jobs for plant managers. The BLS states that jobs for plant managers will grow 9% between 2010 and 2020.

    Acquisitions Analyst Job Description

Acquisitions analysts typically work for corporations or other organizations looking to expand. They explore the potential benefits and costs of combining another business’s or organization’s liabilities and assets with their own. Acquisitions analysts need to demonstrate excellent research skills, business knowledge and valuation strategies. These professionals are often employed through consulting companies and contractors who work with the U.S. government, as well as financial institutions, technology firms and manufacturing companies. Acquisitions analysts could also be responsible for acquiring new customers or clients.

An acquisitions analyst might work as part of an acquisitions team, often as the team leader. They could also be involved in mergers, requiring significant research into another company’s financial, management, employee and client records.

    Job Duties

Acquisitions analysts study potential large-scale purchasing opportunities, keeping an eye out for any problems, coordinating solutions and ensuring an acquisition complies with applicable laws and procedures. The job duties of an acquisitions analyst also include drafting and drawing up acquisition documents and checking these documents to ensure quality control.

These specialized professionals must have computer skills and maintain accurate records. Administrative tasks could include implementing corporate policies, writing regular reports and providing some accounting support. They might track and make recommendations on supply management and pricing of goods. Advanced duties include risk assessments, contract negotiations and financial estimations.

    Acquisitions Analyst Educational Requirements

The minimum educational requirement for most acquisitions analyst positions is a bachelor’s degree. Relevant majors for this career path include business administration, accounting, marketing, finance and economics. Many schools offer core and elective coursework in these programs that cover topics in acquisitions, risk assessment and business analysis. Those looking to advance a career or offer specialized services could earn a graduate degree, such as a Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in accounting, engineering, construction management, finance or economics.

    Experience Requirements

Management or acquisitions experience is often an important prerequisite for a career as an acquisitions analyst. Many schools include internships that offer exposure to the profession. Depending on the industry where an acquisitions analyst works, relevant experience in finance, real estate, technology or military acquisitions could also be beneficial.

    Career Info

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), financial professionals who work in securities, commodities and financial services, including acquisitions, could expect about a 12% increase in job opportunities from 2014-2024, which is faster than average. The BLS notes that financial analysts with earned median salaries of $80,310 as of 2015.

Although the BLS expects faster than average job growth, this does not mean that acquisition analyst jobs will be easy to come by. The reasonably high income of these positions attract a large number of applicants. The best way to attract employers is to hold relevant experience, certifications and/or further education.

Sales Representative Job Overview #travel #asia

    #travel rep
    #

    Sales Representative

Sales representatives sell goods and services to businesses, government agencies and other organizations rather than directly to consumers. Manufacturers and wholesalers rely heavily on sales reps – also called manufacturers’ representatives or manufacturers’ agents – to market merchandise, which might be anything from laboratory equipment to soft drinks. Two traits critical to succeeding as a sales rep: an enthusiastic personality and a tolerance for travel. Sales reps are expected to attend trade shows and conferences to keep abreast of evolving products and changing customer needs. They might also be responsible for administrative duties such as analyzing sales statistics or filing expense accounts.

Job opportunities for sales representatives generally depends on the growth of the economy. New and specialized products also lead to a boost in hiring of sales representatives. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 8.9 percent employment growth for sales representatives by 2022. An additional 132,000 jobs will need to be filled within that time period.

    Salary

The median annual salary for a sales representative was $54,410 in 2013, according to the BLS. The best-paid 10 percent made roughly $113,810, while the lowest-paid earned approximately $27,030. The field’s most highly compensated professionals usually work for companies specializing in footwear manufacturing and computer systems design. Top-paying metropolitan areas for this occupation include the Massachusetts cities of New Bedford, Boston and Framingham.

    1000+ jobs

    Travel Agent Job Overview

Travel agents work as sales people for all things related to travel. Some people and companies will pay a premium to have a travel agent make all their travel arrangements for them. Travel agents book hotel rooms, flights, trains, rental cars, and cruises. They also procure tickets to events, plan itineraries, and provide advice about the client’s destination, as well as help clients obtain visas for their visits, if necessary.

Travel agents work in offices, during the day, but some work remotely. While many travel agents work for larger travel companies, about one in eight are self-employed. Related positions include travel clerk and travel agency manager .

    Travel Agent Job Education Requirements

To become a travel agent, you really only need a high school diploma, good customer service skills, a high attention to detail, and the ability to understand currency conversions, visa rules, and other necessary information for visiting different countries, climates, and regions.

    Travel Agent Job Market

The travel agent job market is shrinking. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), it is expected to decline by 12 percent until 2022, resulting in a loss of almost 9,000 travel agent jobs. With the ease of the Internet and so many budget booking sites, most people prefer to research and book trips themselves.

However, there is still a market for travel agents who can navigate the visa system efficiently for more exotic travel, and who can offer customized travel experiences for people planning a special occasion like a destination wedding. Adventure travel, volunteer travel, and travel for adoption may also call for hiring a travel agent.

    Travel Agent Job Salary Information

The median salary for travel agent jobs in the United States is $34,600 but the range is wide, and affected greatly by commissions. Some travel agents earn less than $20,000 per year while others earned nearly $60,000.
