Have been wearing this since early last December. Good for all but the coldest weather here in Chicago. Won’t stand up to the hawk wind but seems to handle everything else down to mid-teens.

Fit is great. I ordered a large. I am 6’0 , 185 lbs, and wear a 34-35 sleeve length. Roomy enough to easily wear a sweater or sweatshirt with the lining in place.

Speaking of the lining, not only does it zip in, but there are 8 buttons holding it in place so it won’t twist or slide around. (Of course, this means it’s a 5-minute project to install or remove unless your fingers work faster than mine.)

To clarify the pocket description: there are 4 outide and 3 inside. Outside left and right slash pockets have discrete zippered pockets right at the opening. Inside left is a zippered vertical slash handy for all sorts of little stuff, with a velcro pocket below and a bit further inside. On the right is a larger pocket, also zippered. All 3 interior pockets are behind the main zipper.

Wearing for last couple months seems to have picked up a few slight wrinkles, but these are not bad and come and go based on where/how long you’re sitting. Only downside I can see is you’re supposed to dry clean it.

Travel Socks and Travel Underwear: Men and Women

Unlike most of our posts where we’ve given multiple options for our favorite dresses, skirts, hats, and jackets – choosing a favorite pair of travel socks or pair of travel underwear is easy.

Best Travel Underwear

Hands down the answer is Ex Officio underwear . The Ex Officio underwear is perfect for travelers because it dries quickly. Seriously, it is the fastest drying underwear I’ve ever owned so it’s perfect for longer travel where you’re forced to do loads of laundry. With Ex Officio you can just wash it out in the sink and it will be dry by morning. Men’s and women’s  Ex Officio underwear can be bought with free shipping at Zappos. (And if you don’t like them, you can send them back to Zappos  and they’ll refund your money and pay for shipping.)

Best Travel Socks (Generally)

The best travel socks I’ve come across are Thorlos. Yes, they are insanely expensive for socks. But for hiking, walking, and running they have the best support and cushion so that you’re not left with sore feet at the end of the day. Plus unlike other socks I’ve packed on previous travels they don’t wear out. (We had to buy extremely uncomfortable – where that funny toe seam hit just the wrong part of your toes – fake Adidas socks in Argentina because so many of our Target brand socks had worn through from all of the hiking.) If you’re mainly going to be walking, but the Thorlo hiking or walking socks .

Best Travel Socks (for Winter)

If you’re heading somewhere extremely cold and want to pack socks that are warmer than Thorlos, buy Smartwools. For both men and women Smartwools are the best travel socks for winter that you can find. They are insanely warm, cute, durable, and comfortable.

Travel Socks and Travel Underwear

Disposable Underwear

Disposable Underwear: this may be the most un-green traveler thing I have come across in a long time. And it’s just a little too ridiculous not to post about.  I wish I had found them in time for April Fool’s Day (and the joke would have been that they are real.)

Perhaps the commenter/reviewer with the most helpful disposable underwear review on Amazon said this:

These are a life-saver for people going on extended trips. They can be washed and dried several times if you choose to be economical and environmentally conscious. They dry much faster than conventional underwear. Since they are lighter than conventional panties, they save a small but useful amount of energy by making your suitcase lighter. I also find them comfortable. I often find conventional panties chafing; these are very kind to my body.

If you are going somewhere just overnight, you might be able to save the inconvenience of carrying a suitcase simply by tucking a pair in your purse not a discreet option with conventional underwear. They look like a little cotton roll and are wrapped in plastic.

Other reviewers also noted how light they are and that they are better because there are no dyes in them.

Besides for travel, it seems people also buy disposable underwear for maternity and hospital stays.  And men have the option of disposable briefs or disposable boxers. They are relatively inexpensive – $20 for 30 pairs of panties or briefs or $7 for 10 pairs. The cost of the men’s boxers are $20 for 18 pairs.

Given that they are washable, it makes them perhaps an understandable choice for for extended travel. But note that they are made from polypropylene .

What will they think of next?

How to Identify Circumcision Damage
in the Adult Male

NOTE: Links with a right-facing blue arrow will take you off this site.

The risks of newborn circumcision are
an underreported and ignored factor in this argument.
Most often a poor surgical result isn’t recognized until years after the event.
The adverse long term consequences of infant circumcision
on the sexual health of American men must be recognized
by physicians, parents, and legislators.
James L. Snyder, M.D. Past President, Virginia Urologic Society
The Problem of Circumcision in America

Many circumcised men are unaware that they have been harmed by circumcision because they do not understand how the intact (non-circumcised) penis functions and/or they do not know how to identify their circumcision damage. Many circumcised men fail to recognize their own circumcision damage and assume that peculiar things about their penis are ‘normal’ or ‘a birth defect.’

NOHARMM documents evidence of how males have been harmed by circumcision. After reading this page, we encourage you to complete a confidential Harm Documentation Form and submit it to NOHARMM. Some individuals may be able to take legal action against their circumciser, especially those who initiate action within one year after first realizing their damage or, in the case of minors, within one year of turning age 18. We can refer you to an appropriate attorney .

This page illustrates some of the physical consequences of infant circumcision, as they appear in the adult male:

For a discussion of circumcision’s sexual and psychological consequences affecting men,
please read Long-Term Consequences of Neonatal Circumcision .

Below: This photograph shows the lack of skin mobility during erection of a circumcised penis. Note the dark scar where the foreskin was amputated.

This tightness and the unnatural dryness of the penile shaft and head causes some men (and their partners) pain, abrasion, and bleeding during sex. Breaks in the skin are an effective way to transmit and contract sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV.

Below: These five photographs show how the shaft skin of
an intact (non-circumcised) penis moves during sexual activity.

Range of skin movement marked by point A is several inches back and forth.
Note how point B moves and the end of the foreskin widens to accommodate
the head of the penis. Notice the smooth texture of the head of the penis.
The moist mucosal surface of the foreskin and glans is similar to that
of the female labia and vagina.
NOTE:Retraction is normally not possible or desirable in infants and young children.

Explore the severity of your circumcision or the amount of foreskin you have using the Coverage Index

The glans (penile head) is normally an internal organ protected by the moist mucosal tissue of the prepuce (foreskin). Without the foreskin, the glans is exposed to the outer environment (air, soap, clothing, sun, etc.). The glans dries out and develops several extra layers of skin (keratinization). 1 Compare the dry, cracked appearance of the glans of a circumcised penis (upper right) with the moist mucosal end of the glans of an intact penis (lower right). The unnatural dryness of the circumcised penis can cause abrasion and bleeding during sex, whereas the moistness of the intact penis makes sex more comfortable, especially during penetration. For women with circumcised male partners, the problem of ‘vaginal dryness’ during sex may also be partly attributable to the unnatural dryness of the circumcised penis.

Besides removing the densely nerve-laden foreskin, circumcision removes 50% of the penile shaft skin and associated nerve endings. 2 The exposed glans then keratinizes, causing further loss of sensation. Many circumcised men in the Awakenings survey 3 reported that desensitization caused them to abandon or bypass the subtler pleasures of genital foreplay in favor of immediate intercourse, which would offer them greater stimulation. They often hurried through intercourse, however often needing extraordinary and sometimes violent thrusting to obtain sufficient stimulation for both pleasure and orgasm. Other men reported frequent reliance on behaviors offering more stimulation than vaginal sex (e.g. oral sex, anal sex or masturbation) or compensating for diminished quality of sexual response with quantity (sexual compulsivity).

Eventually, keratinization occurs even after adult circumcision. It can also occur in intact men with short foreskins or those who habitually wear their foreskin in the retracted position.

Imagine how different female sexual response would be if the clitoral hood (female foreskin) and the labia were removed. Exposure of the clitoris to the constant effects of the outer environment would approximate the effects of male circumcision.

Kegel Exercises For Men #kegel #exercises #for #men, #pc #muscles, #kegel

#

Most adult men do not have full bladder control and experience leakage of urine in amounts that vary from a few drops to large volumes, twice or more a month.

Only one-third of people with bladder problems ask for help from a health professional, but with the right advice 70 to 80% of those affected become dry or significantly improved, and the remainder learn to better manage their bladder problem.

The prostate is a gland of the male reproductive system that produces fluid for semen, which helps to transport sperm during the male orgasm. The prostate is made up of about 30% muscular tissue; the rest is glandular tissue.

Normally, the prostate is small about the same size and shape as a walnut. It is located in front of the rectum and just below the bladder.

The prostate wraps around the urethra, which is the tube that carries urine out from the bladder through the tip of the penis. more on — prostate

Kegel Exercises for Men are used to strengthen the PC
or pubococcygeus muscle, just as they are for women. The muscle is similar in both men and women, stretching from the pubic bone to the tail bone and forming a hammock-like floor that supports the organs of the pelvis and contributes to the function of the sphincter muscles.

The exercise is recommended for treating prostate pain and swelling that result from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatitis, or inflammation of the prostate gland. It is used as a first step for treating urinary incontinence. It may be beneficial for reducing pre-mature ejaculation, and other sexual benefits have been reported. Overall, the exercise is good for you.

To begin, you must first be able to find your PC muscle. You can do this during urination. Once your flow begins, try to stop it completely. The muscle that you feel tightening is the PC muscle. If you don t get it, you may try inserting a finger (use lubrication) into the anus and try to grip your finger. If you are able to do that, you ve found the right muscle.

Once you have become accustomed to tightening the muscle, Kegel exercises for men can be done anytime, anywhere. They require no special equipment, although several aids are available, including Peristal and the Prostate Massager .

In order to improve strength of the muscle, you use a squeeze, hold, release pattern. You squeeze the muscle, hold for several seconds, and release. Gradually, you would like to be able to build up to a hold of 10 seconds, repeating the squeeze, hold, and release ten times.

When you perform the exercise correctly, you should be able to feel or see the testicles lift. This takes time for some men. But, if you practice the routine regularly, you should notice an improvement in 4-6 weeks.

There are many things that you can do to support the health of the prostate and reduce your risk of urinary incontinence, including the use of herbs and nutritionally supportive supplements. The risk of problems increases with age. One out of every 10 people over the age of 65 has some problems, although women are most often affected.

Since kegel exercises for men help reduce your risk of problems and reduce pain in the prostate, why not give them a try? They are easy to do in the privacy of your own home. Tell your younger friends about Kegel exercises for men, too. There are many benefits. more on — Kegel Exercises for Men

Urinary incontinence is the accidental release of urine. It is not a disease but rather a symptom of a problem with a man’s urinary tract. Urine is produced by the kidneys and stored in a muscular sac called the urinary bladder.

A tube called the urethra, which is surrounded by a special ring of muscles called the urinary sphincter, leads from the bladder through the prostate and penis to the outside of the body. As the bladder becomes filled with urine, complex nerve signals ensure that the sphincter stays contracted and the bladder stays relaxed.

This interaction between nerves and muscles prevents urine from leaking out of the body. more on — Urinary Incontinence in Men

Why Men Don t Treat Their Erectile Dysfunction #men #s #health

#

The Penis Problem Many Guys Completely Ignore

Related. The Men s Health Guide to Erectile Dysfunction the Only Resource You Need to Keep Your Erection Hard For Life

One potential barrier to treatment is cost: Many drugs don t have generic versions yet, and some insurance companies provide limited or no coverage, says study author Kevin McVary, M.D.

Men may also feel too embarrassed to drop off the prescription at the pharmacy, or believe ED isn t a high-enough concern to bother addressing it, Dr. McVary says.

Whatever the reason for avoiding treatment, the consequence is undisputed: Sexual health is an important aspect of the quality of a man s life and men live longer when they are sexually active, says Dr. McVary. This is a medical disease that warrants treatment.

Having trouble getting it up? There are several different treatments that will get you back in the saddle but you ll never know which one is right for you until you call your doc. Here are three options he might prescribe:

If you ve just been diagnosed with ED, you ll probably be asked to try a PDE5 inhibitor the first-line treatment option. In fact, 75 percent of the men in the study were prescribed these meds.

PDE5 inhibitors include options like sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil (Levitra). Their effectiveness is about the same, and they work in the same way, says Dr. McVary. The drugs cause smooth muscles to relax and blood vessels to dilate, which helps you get an erection when you re aroused.

But there are some important differences.

Cialis lasts the longest up to 36 hours and you don t have to worry about food interactions.

With Viagra and Levitra, a high-fat meal could block the drug s absorption, meaning that a bedroom romp after a big steak dinner might be off the table. So wait until 2 hours after your meal to pop those pills, Dr. McVary recommends.

All of the PDE5 inhibitors share the same side effects: You may experience headaches, facial flushing, or acid reflux. With Viagra, you may also find your color perception is a bit off things can take on a blue or purple haze, says Dr. McVary.

And with Cialis, you might be more likely to feel flank pain or side pain, possibly due to the blood vessels dilating.

So what happens if your pill doesn t help you perform? You might be asked to try another kind of PDE5 inhibitor before moving on to other options, since some guys will respond to one kind but not another.

If you ve failed pills either they didn t work for you, were too expensive, or you were bothered by the side effects you may be asked to try alprostadil, a common second-line treatment, says Dr. McVary.

Alprostadil works by increasing blood flow and causing the smooth muscles to relax, which can help you get an erection. The drug can be given by an injection in your penis or a suppository in your penis s opening.

Sounds horrifying, right? Men can be squeamish about the first shot, but then after that, they say it s not that big of a deal, says Dr. McVary.

One potential side effect: a priapism, or prolonged erection. (It s nearly unheard of in as-prescribed use of PDE5 inhibitors, despite what the commercials say, according to Dr. McVary.) Non-stop stiffies can cause scar tissue formation, hurting erectile function.

3. Androgen Replacement Therapy

Also known as testosterone replacement, this treatment was prescribed to 31 percent of the men in the study. But it should only be used in guys who have bona fide low T, says Dr. McVary. That means blood levels below 300 ng/dl for those under 65.

Low levels of testosterone can cause decreased sex drive, low energy, and ED. Replacement therapy can help alleviate those symptoms. You might be prescribed injections, which you d get every few weeks, or daily patches or gels.

But if your levels are already adequate, supplementing T won t help you get an erection and might lead to some scary side effects. The therapy can boost your red blood cell count, making your blood sluggish and easier to clot, which raises your risk of heart attack or stroke.
