All you need to do is show up. Of course, if you prefer to pick something on your own or stay with friends or family, you will be offered a housing stipend.

Do you offer travel reimbursements?

Yes, Medical Solutions will provide you a travel stipend reimbursement to assist you with any of the costs you incur traveling to and from your assignment. Half of this stipend is provided in your first paycheck while the remainder is provided at the end of your assignment.

What Travel Nursing and Travel Allied Health assignments are available?

Medical Solutions has open travel assignments across the country for most specialties and shifts. We receive and fill new assignments every day. Just tell us where you want to travel and we ll present open assignments or find one for you. Additionally, you can search current opportunities on the Job Search page.

How long does it take to get an assignment?

Once you have interviewed for the position and both you and the facility decide to move forward, it typically takes one to six weeks, depending on when you are available and the start date of the assignment. We typically begin presenting new assignments to you about 30 days from the end of your current assignment.

What about state licensing?

Your personal Career Consultant can tell you exactly how much time is necessary to apply for a state license and the cost. Of course, if a temporary license is required, Medical Solutions will reimburse you for the cost.

What happens after my Travel Nursing assignment is over?

Before your assignment is over, your personal Career Consultant will begin discussing new Travel Nursing assignments with you. However, it is completely your choice to extend your assignment (if an extension is offered), take another assignment, go full time, or simply take a break. PA Criminal Justice

Projections Central predicts a 356% increase in gaming surveillance officer jobs through to 2018 for Pennsylvania. Last year, The Washington Times reported that the state earned the highest tax revenue from casinos and gaming operations. CBS 21 News projected that Pennsylvania will become the countrys second best gambling hot spot, surpassing Atlantic City. You could become a gaming surveillance officer, an ideal position to kick start your criminal justice career, whether you choose to move on to law enforcement, a courtroom, homeland security or the FBI. Check out the criminal justice schools in Pennsylvania for information on casino surveillance or gaming security programs. Notice how schools offer online or campus programs so you can select a course load that suits your schedule.

The Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole supervises over 267,000 parolees and probationers, states the National Institute of Corrections. In fact, in 2010, the states per capita number of parolees exceeded the national average by 262%. This probably explains why Pennsylvania is one of five states with the highest concentration of probation officers and correctional treatment specialists. If you would like to become one of these community corrections professionals, take a criminal justice degree in Pennsylvania specializing in corrections, psychology, social work, law enforcement or another related discipline.

Whether you want to become a police officer or lawyer, the criminal justice schools in Pennsylvania offer campus or online programs to help start your career.

    Pennsylvania Criminal Justice Career Outlook

Many criminal justice careers in Pennsylvania show a positive outlook for growth. With their average number of annual job openings provided by Projections Central, here are some examples:

    • Police and Sheriffs Patrol Officers

    840 openings/year

  • Correctional Officers and Jailers
    670 openings/year
  • Detectives and Criminal Investigators
    120 openings/year

    90 openings/year
  • Security Guards

    1,060 openings openings/year

  • If any of these budding careers interest you, check out the list of online or campus criminal justice schools in Pennsylvania for information on relevant programs. For example, if you would like to become a police officer, it would be wise to take at least an Associates degree in law enforcement. Or you might want to take a criminal justice degree in Pennsylvania specializing in corrections to become a jailer or correctional officer.

    Top Criminal Justice Employers Agencies

In Pennsylvania, there are two FBI field offices (Pittsburg and Philadelphia), one Homeland Security Special-Agent-in-Charge office (Philadelphia) and four U.S. Secret Service field offices (Scranton, Harrisburg, Pittsburg and Philadelphia). To become qualified for any of these federal agencies it would be wise to specialize. For example, you could take a criminal justice degree in Pennsylvania majoring in counterterrorism, cyber security, homeland security, computer forensics, criminal psychology, law enforcement or another relevant discipline.

Additionally, a division of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is located in Philadelphia. To become a DEA Agent, start with completing a criminal justice or law enforcement degree at one of the criminal justice schools in Pennsylvania.

Finally, one of the FBIs Regional Computer Forensic Laboratories (RCFL) is located in Philadelphia. To become a digital forensics professional, consider taking a computer forensics degree.

    Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

    About The Program

This site has been designed for access by applicants, enrolled students, college-based faculty, clinical site personnel and a variety of other partners of the program. As such, information in individual sections will be available to each group depending on need and confidentiality requirements. We hope you find our web-site helpful, informative, comprehensive and easy to navigate.

You should also visit the Health Sciences Simulation Center (HSSC) section of Samuel Merritt University’s website. The history of simulation-based learning at SMU began with the pioneering work of the nurse anesthesia faculty in the late 1990s. Over the past decade our students have contributed a great deal to the national reputation of innovation and excellence that our simulation center – and especially our Program of Nurse Anesthesia – has garnered and sustained. You will discover a wealth of specific information about our Program on the HSSC website page to supplement what you learn here.

Our Philosophy of Learning and Success

It is the intent of our entry-level program to prepare graduates for the full scope of practice in nurse anesthesia in order that they be competitive in the marketplace by delivering the highest possible quality of care. Consequently, students will be involved in all aspects of anesthesia including general and regional techniques as well as cases involving conscious sedation and other ancillary services such as pain management, anesthesia for interventional radiology procedures and emergency airway management. Under close and immediate supervision, students will be responsible for the administration and management of virtually all specialty surgery categories and common invasive monitoring modalities for the full range of patient age and acuity levels.

At Samuel Merritt University, we manage the learning process as a shared enterprise between students and faculty; that is, we expect students to be highly motivated, responsible, self disciplined, focused and well schooled in the philosophy of graduate education. Faculty will consistently and expertly provide required learning opportunities and the guidance and instruction to fulfill the learning objectives of not only the program, but the student’s personal interests and talents. Above all, we seek mature students who represent the highest caliber critical care nurse; ones who take full responsibility for delivering exceptional, intelligent and compassionate care.

    How Our Graduates are Performing

Employers continue to rave about the preparation of our students. Most often they cite the comprehensiveness of their theoretical background and the range of their clinical expertise from the simplest to the most medically complex patient. 100% of employers noted that graduates were fully capable of independent decision-making and graduates rank their preparation far above minimum competency levels. Nearly 90% of our graduates are employed in the Bay Area and most at Kaiser Permanente facilities. We also have graduates practicing in other areas of the country and in the military. We are proud of our graduates! 100% of the graduates from the Class of 2014 and 96% from the Class of 2015 were employed as CRNAs within 6 months of passing the National Certication Exam (NCE). The first-time pass rate for the Class of 2015 was 100% compared to the national average of 85%. The first-time pass rate for our last 5 cohorts (Classes of 2011-2015) was 94.4% compared to the national 5-year average of 87.6%.

What is most important is that all of our graduates are employed as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists. The graduates themselves all reported that they were well prepared to enter the employment field as CRNAs and felt fully competent to assume their professional role. Check out their comments in the Faculty and Student sections of this site.

    Program Attrition Rate

    Cohort Graduation Year

The majority of students who left the program during the above referenced periods have done so due to a change in personal circumstances. The Program makes a concerted effort to work with students who may, at times, be struggling with the program curriculum or non-academic related challenges.

Program of Nurse Anesthesia Alumni Association

Established in 1993, our Program of Nurse Anesthesia (PNA) continues to be recognized as one of the premier educational programs in the country, producing top notch Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists. All PNA outcome measures of curricular quality and student satisfaction are consistently the highest across all programs at Samuel Merritt University. The university’s state-of-the-art Health Sciences Simulation Center was funded and built in 2006 largely predicated upon the successes experienced by the PNA in simulation-based education. We are proud of our exemplary program and the roster of highly qualified, compassionate CRNAs who are alumni of Samuel Merritt University.

In response to substantial interest expressed by program alumni, we have established the Samuel Merritt University Program of Nurse Anesthesia Alumni Society. Alumni associations provide wonderful opportunities to reconnect with old friends and colleagues; they also provide the structure and systems that promote professional networking; and importantly they can create a culture of support and mentorship for members of the new generations of the nurse anesthesia profession.

Our Partnership with Kaiser Permanente Northern California

Our nurse anesthesia program was conceived as a joint venture between Samuel Merritt University and Kaiser Permanente Northern California in 1993 and a strong partnership between the two organizations flourishes to this day. More than half of our clinical affiliate sites are Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers, making a significant number of our clinical faculty the CRNAs and anesthesiologists of The Permanente Medical Group. Current students and graduates of the program consistently cite the outstanding experience and learning opportunities provided to them during the clinical component of the program as a major reason for their high degree of satisfaction with their education here at SMU.

If you would like to know more about Kaiser Permanente. you can visit their website or ask any of our faculty about this valued partnership.

Kaiser Permanente is awarding competitively $10,000 per year for 2 years ($20,000), forgiveable after graduation if you are employed by a Northern California Kaiser facility.

    Before You Go Exploring

Samuel Merritt University is a small private institution of higher education one hundred-years old offering programs only in health related disciplines…that is our exclusive mission. We value timely, attentive and informed services for both applicants and enrolled students.

We know that you will be impressed by our faculty, our educational resources and the quality of education received at Samuel Merritt University. After all you are making a significant investment in your future and your choice of graduate program is critical. Now, take a look. We may be the perfect match!

Discover RN to BSN Programs in Pennsylvania
    (found programs from 74 schools)

State Nursing Board: Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing

State Nurses Association: Pennsylvania State Nurses Association

Nursing is a profession that requires a high level of scientific expertise, compassion and hands on skills. If you are an experienced RN seeking to advance your knowledge and career, you may want to consider looking into the nursing schools in Pennsylvania that offer RN to BSN programs. This type of nursing bridge program offers a way to use the experience and education you already have and apply it to your Bachelor’s degree. You can find all of the RN to BSN programs in PA, both online and on campus, listed below.

    Featured Online Programs:

Online programs may not be available in all states

As healthcare reform policies, advanced medical interventions and preventative medicine expand the role of the RN, new information and advanced education are necessary to achieve optimal patient outcomes. There are many real life stories of hospitals requiring nurses to have their BSN, and many others giving preference to those who do, as studies have shown that the more bachelor’s prepared nurses a facility employs relates directly to patient satisfaction scores, errors and mortality rates.

If you are serious about pursuing a successful career in nursing, consider the benefits of entering one of the many RN to BSN programs in PA. The sooner you expand your education, the sooner you can apply for more varied positions in nursing, broadening your options and, possibly, your compensation. With the current changes and innovations in the field of healthcare, having a Bachelor’s in Nursing can help you develop the skills employers are looking for.

BestNursingDegree.com helps students across the nation find and compare BSN programs across the nation, including online RN to BSN programs in PA. Whether you are looking for a campus or online program, we can help you easily request information from several schools at once.

RN to BSN nursing programs in PA provide courses to advance your diagnostic reasoning, health assessment skills, leadership abilities and management strategies. Advance practice, patient care and leadership models are provided to comply with the new framework developed by healthcare reform. Advanced courses to increase nursing knowledge are in science, humanities and other following subjects:

    • Health policies and professional issues
    • Effective nursing management, leadership and mentoring
    • Baccalaureate Nursing Practice in the student’s area of choice
    • Cultural diversity and public health
    • Nursing informatics, computer literacy and medical technology
    • Advanced practice in diagnostics and patient assessment
    • Research and evidence-based nursing collaboration

The completion of an RN to BSN transitional program takes approximately 20 months. Pennsylvania usually requires more hours of the clinical practicum than other programs and consists of 15 to 20 weeks of a full time class schedule. You can expect that most if not all of your associate’s degree or diploma nursing courses will transfer to one of the RN to BSN programs, but it is helpful to check with the nursing schools in Pennsylvania that you are interested in to be sure.

Opportunities for the RN, BSN in Pennsylvania

RNs in Pennsylvania are afforded numerous opportunities in hospitals, home health and non-hospital work environments. An experienced nurse is valued by the healthcare community and valued for the dedication devoted to earning a BSN degree. Baccalaureate nurses have exclusive specialties and positions available to them that include the following:

    • Hospitals like Penn State Hershey Medical Center, St Mary Medical Center and Abington Memorial Hospital have enacted policies that hire bachelor prepared nurses exclusively
    • Nurses who specialize in informatics work in ICUs, maternity, cardiac care and emergency departments for Abington Memorial and the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
    • Nursing administrators and directors are employed throughout the Pennsylvania Health System and public health
    • Mental health nurses with BSNs are independent and work as therapists in Westmoreland Hospital
    • Nurse researchers work with independently funded projects, Penn State University and various medical research centers in the state

The Outlook for Baccalaureate Prepared Nurses in Pennsylvania

Even though Pennsylvania has 130,930 licensed RNs, the projected future nursing shortage in the state is expected to be huge. According to the Health Resources Service Administration. Pennsylvania will require an additional 54,000 RNs by 2020 to meet the anticipated need. Nationally, well over half a million additional RNs are needed. Registered nursing will be the fastest growing occupation in the U.S. until at least 2018, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) says.

While the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice advocates that at least two-thirds of practicing RNs should hold a BSN degree or higher, only 36 to 37 percent of RNs have a BSN. A recent AACN survey shows that RNs with BSN degrees are more likely to find jobs at graduation than those without.

Pennsylvania RN’s earn a median salary of $66,010 annually (BLS, 2013), but this figure can increase with education and experience. Contact the nursing schools in Pennsylvania that offer RN to BSN programs, online or otherwise, to learn more about how you can get started today.

    Programs to consider:

    • Chatham University (Pittsburgh). Students may select from part time tracks (usually two classes per semester) or full-time tracks (three to four classes per semester). Three courses have clinical components in addition to classroom work: community and environmental health nursing; under-served populations; and a nursing practicum which can be completed in the student’s workplace.
    • Pennsylvania State University (University Park). Students may study full-time or part-time at 10 Penn State campuses. An entirely online program is offered through Penn State World Campus. Students also may select from a combination of campus-based and online classes. Requirements for the RN to BSN programs may vary at the different campuses.
    • La Salle University (Philadelphia). La Salle’s RN to BSN program is fully online and allows students to move through the program at their own pace, accessing course materials at their convenience. Faculty members offer chat rooms and live virtual classroom meetings. Nursing courses can be completed in 13 months and there is no clinical requirement.

    Programs from Pennsylvania Schools

Listed below are all of the nationally accredited RN to BSN programs with campus locations in Pennsylvania.

    Accreditation

SCU is regionally accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), and the new MSPA program has also received WSCUC approval. The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation – Provisional status to the Master in Science: Physician Assistant program sponsored by Southern California University of Health Sciences. Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students. Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.

PAs practice and prescribe in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and all U.S. territories with the exception of Puerto Rico. PAs are educated at the graduate level, with most PAs receiving a Master’s degree or higher.

PA Drug Rehab is rated 5 /5 based on 5 reviews.

Need Help Finding The Best Rehab Centers PA? – Call (877) 421-9807 Now!

Living with addiction is a painful, unhappy experience for the people who suffer from dependency to drugs and alcohol, and for those who have loved ones affected by dependency to drugs and alcohol. The process of rehabilitation, or rehab, is to help addicts come to understand their dependency, learn to identify and steer clear of triggers that make them use, and learn how to live as an addict in recovery. Every Rehab Services Pennsylvania provides a wholesome, understanding environment for addicts that wish to begin recovering from drugs and alcohol, and creates individualized, custom-made treatment plans to meet the physical, psychological, social, medical, vocational, and emotional needs of every client.

    What Rehabilitation Center Does?

For addicts who don’t realize that their dependency to drugs or alcohol is problematic, or who oppose treatment, the first step towards recovery is often an intervention. With the assistance of any Pennsylvania Interventions Center Services. the addict’s friends, family members, and loved ones can gather as an organized team to confront the addict regarding their drug or alcohol problem, present the addict with ways they ve harmed themselves or others, and to urge them to go into a treatment facility. For an intervention to achieve success, rehab centers recommend an intensive planning stage guided by a qualified interventionist. An intervention isn t going to prevent an addict from using, and it must NOT be confuse with treatment. When followed up right away by treatment, interventions are effective, powerful techniques for getting loved ones help.

A period of detox is occasionally needed for addicts before they can enter a rehab facility. Since withdrawal may be very uncomfortable and distressful. Detox offers an awesome detox, or detoxification, which detox, or detoxification, is a medically supervised procedure designed to safely withdraw the addict. Certain medication and an IV for hydration and nutrition are occasionally required for this process. Detox is very vital for people who have been addicted to alcohol and opiates, along with specific other substances. Since the withdrawal from those substances can actually be fatal without clinical assistance. ‘Cold turkey ’ is not just inappropriate, but might be deadly for certain people. Since detox is NOT treatment, it ll not finish habit; it is just meant to assist an addict to properly withdraw from drugs and alcohol.

Rehab provides safe, efficient treatment for people at all stages of dependency, from individuals who have only begun to feel the consequences of dependency, to people who have been chronically using drugs and/or alcohol. Most Treatment Centers PA ’s services include, but aren t limited to, treatment for alcohol, opiates (heroin, codeine), prescribed drugs (pharmaceuticals, hydrocodone, oxycodone), designer drugs (bath salts, many stimulants), crystal meth, cocaine, hallucinogens, and marijuana. By evaluating the nature of dependency, identifying contributing mental components (including co-occurring disorders), and developing the most effective treatment plans for every client, PA Drug Rehab can offer the most powerful, effective rehabilitation program.

    Rehabilitation Centers Can Help!

Addiction is clearly an insidious, frightening disease, as demonstrated by the fact that individuals who suffer from addiction don t only hurt themselves, but will hurt the people who they love. Though there is not any ‘miracle cure’ for addiction, people who enter certified, accredited treatment facilities experience the most success in recovery. In Pennsylvania, Rehab Centers treatment plans are not only fact-based, but medically proven, and include individual and group therapy sessions, physical and recreational activities, participation in the 12-step community, behavioral modeling, and all the comforts of inpatient living at the affordable price of an outpatient facility. For details regarding interventions, detox, rehab programs, and addiction in general, or for help with dependency, or to help a family member with an addiction to drugs or alcohol, contact any Rehab Treatment Services Pennsylvania .

    Insulation and Ventilation

An important component of roof longevity is proper attic insulation and ventilation. Adequate insulation provides for a warmer house in the winter, and a cooler one in summer. Optimum ventilation (a balanced system of intake and exhaust) enhances the lifespan of the roofing product and roof deck, exhausts hot air in the summer months, and removes moisture-laden air in the winter-a key ingredient in the formation of mold in the attic. We work hand-in-hand with experts and consultants in this field in order to provide top-quality products and innovative solutions to our customers.

    Gutters

A very important (and sometimes overlooked) aspect of the roofing system is the gutter and downspout assembly, which sheds the water from the roof down to the ground. Wm. Prescott Roofing Remodeling, Inc. installs aluminum gutters and downspouts manufactured by leaders in the industry such as Alcoa Home Exteriors, complete with all the accessories. We emphasize the need for proper slope of the gutters to the drains/downspouts; proper slope eliminates standing water, lessens the possibility of debris build-up and slows the formation of ice dams. We also install copper and galvanized K style gutters, copper, aluminum, galvanized half-round gutters and copper/galvanized downspouts with all accessories.
