Travel Search Engines to Help You Plan Your Trip

By Melanie Renzulli. United States Travel Expert

Before you can embark on a new travel adventure, you must handle logistics: Where will you go? When will you go? How much can you afford to pay? These are just a few of the questions to consider when going to a travel search engine to book flights, hotels, and rental cars.

While we all have our favorite go-to travel search engines for booking our travels, there may be other travel search websites that better suit your needs depending on the type of trip you wish to take. Below is a look at a few of the options that are available to help you plan and book your travel online.

    Big Travel Search Aggregators

    Travel Search Innovator

One of the newest travel search engines is Hipmunk . .

Hipmunk s innovation is in its layout of travel search results. Search for flights and you are given a visual representation of flight details, including cost, length of flight, time of day, and whether or not the flight has wifi. All of these are mapped on a useful grid, which takes a lot of the guesswork out of itinerary building. Look to Hipmunk s efficient format to catch on very quickly.

Prepare for Retirement With a 457 Plan Designed for Government and Non-Profit Workers

Deferred compensation plans, also known as 457 retirement plans are designed for state and municipal workers and employees of some tax-exempt organizations.

If you participate in a 457 plan, you can contribute a portion of your salary to a retirement account. That money and any earnings you accumulate are not taxed until you withdraw them.

The difference between a 401(k) and a 457 retirement plan

Although they’re alike in many ways, there are some differences between 401(k) and 457 plans, particularly when it comes to early withdrawal penalties and minimum required distributions.

With a 457 retirement savings plan:

    • There isn’t a minimum retirement age
    • There isn’t a 10% federal penalty for early withdrawal of funds, although withdrawals are subject to ordinary income taxes
    • There is a withdrawal option for unforeseen emergencies that meet certain legal criteria, if all other financial resources are exhausted
    • Distributions are available in a lump sum, annual installments or as an annuity
    • There is no tax withholding if you leave for a new job and roll over your money into an IRA or your new employer’s 401(k), 403(b) or 457 plan – or if you take regular installments for 10 years or more. (All other distributions are subject to 20% withholding for federal taxes.)

Keep in mind that federal income tax laws are complex and subject to change. Neither Nationwide nor our representatives give legal or tax advice. Please consult your attorney or tax advisor for answers to specific questions.

Sample Of An Alcohol Treatment Plan – article about Sample Of An Alcohol Treatment Plan

Refresh Articles Addictions Sample Of An Alcohol Treatment Plan

The Sample of an Alcohol Treatment Plan

Combating against alcohol addiction can be a real hardship both for you and for your loved ones. Many treatment centers facilitate service for providing relief from the sprains caused by long years of alcohol abuse. The components of the sample of an alcohol treatment plan can be designed precisely by putting emphasis over each individual and their unique needs.

While designing the sample of an alcohol treatment plan, the planner first focuses on ‘initial intervention’ phase. In fact, this is the most essential component of an alcohol treatment plan sample. Without the initial intervention made by a professional interventionist, the treatment can not be progressed further.

It is the responsibility of the interventionist to offer motivation and inspiration to the individuals who are in need for alcohol related treatment. The interventionist can organize and institute the intervention in both effective and motivational fashion. An effective intervention leads to immediate detoxification and rehabilitation.

The next item that comes on line of a well-structured sample of an alcohol treatment plan is alcohol detoxification. The first step of detoxification is of course abstinence followed by an effective elimination of harmful physical and emotional effects of alcohol usage while managing painful and treacherous withdrawal symptoms.

When considering the detoxification phase, a residential treatment always overshadows non residential one in terms of appropriate management pains and critical side effects of withdrawal. The side effects, in some cases, can be so intense that it may lead to mortality. So, an effective sample plan of an alcohol treatment procedure must be prepared by taking these points under consideration.

The alcoholic denial is critically intense. So it is essential to understand the denial. Working effectively with alcoholic denial should be an integral component of the sample plan of an alcohol treatment. At this phase, when the body is free from the harmful effects of the alcohol, the patient should be exposed to understand the complexities of his problem.

In addition, the sample of an alcohol treatment plan should be designed in such a fashion that the treatment will provide the patient the essential space to reflect over his problem from his own perspective. Moreover, a successful plan must incorporate relapse prevention methodologies and enhanced recovery skills training program.

Usually, the ideal treatment plan should accommodate individual counseling and therapy, group therapy, family session, 12-Step meetings, recreational therapy, occupational therapy and many others. The success of the sample of an alcohol treatment plan also depends on sensible execution, expertise, knowledge and effective communication. How to Set Up an IRS Tax Payment Plan 8 Steps to Consider

    By Claire Moore
    Posted in: Taxes

It s always nice to receive a tax refund it can feel almost like finding free money. Unfortunately, sometimes you end up owing Uncle Sam money, and even if you can t afford to pay what you owe, you still have to file your tax return by the filing deadline. Sooner or later, you must work out an agreement with the IRS to pay the remainder. You might be tempted to just ignore the whole issue in the hopes that it will just go away, but that would be a major and costly mistake.

If you find yourself in this situation, do not delay. Make it your top priority to contact the IRS to find a solution to your problem. Though you might not believe it, the IRS is willing to work with you to help you pay your tax bill.

What Happens If You Don t Pay

If you don t take steps to set up a payment plan, the IRS can use its massive powers to extract the money from you any way that it can. Typical collection methods include:

    • Putting a lien on your home
    • Freezing your bank accounts
    • Seizing tax refunds you would otherwise be eligible for
    • Garnishing your wages

If the IRS carries out any of these collection methods, your credit score will take a big hit. A drastic drop in your credit score can cause your insurance rates to increase, as well as your loan and credit card interest rates. The best defense against having your finances damaged is to take advantage of IRS programs for paying your taxes.

    Tax Payment Plan Options

By law, the IRS has to collect taxes due within 10 years from the date the tax return is filed. If you negotiate a payment plan with the IRS, then the payment amounts are structured to make sure that your entire tax bill is paid off by the end of the 10-year collection period.

Here are steps that you can take to make sure your tax bill is paid:

    1. Determine Your Total Due
It is important to determine exactly how much you owe, as there are numerous collection procedures and payment options which depend upon the amount. For example, the IRS recently changed many of its procedures for filing liens, raising the threshold from $5,000 to $10,000 in taxes due before it will file a lien.

If you owe $10,000 or less and you are up-to-date on all of your income tax filings and payments from previous years, then the IRS will likely accept your proposed payment plan unless it concludes that you actually can afford to pay the tax bill in full now. The fees you pay for setting up an installment agreement range from $43 to $105 depending on the amount you owe and type of agreement you enter into (direct debit, payroll deduction, or installment payment).

    2. Consider an Offer-In-Compromise
An offer-in-compromise is an agreement between a taxpayer and the IRS that settles the tax debt for less than the total owed. Under new rules, the IRS raised the maximum income level from $50,000 to $100,000 making it possible for more taxpayers to qualify. The maximum tax owed was also raised from $25,000 to $50,000. The offer-in-compromise requires the filing of Form 433-A. Form 656. a $150 filing fee, and an initial tax payment.

An offer-in-compromise is a last-ditch effort to reach an agreement with the IRS, as the agency expects you to exhaust all other possibilities before applying. The IRS determines if you qualify for the offer-in-compromise by examining several factors, including your:

The IRS generally approves an offer-in-compromise if it determines that the amount that you have offered to pay to settle your tax debt is the most that they could expect to collect from you within a reasonable period of time.

    3. Pay by Credit Card
When you pay the IRS over time, you are charged interest at 3% plus penalties, which continue to accrue until the balance is totally paid off. You might prefer to owe your credit card company instead of the IRS, if for no other reason than to stop the penalties.

If you choose to pay your tax by credit card, your American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa payment must be processed by one of the three approved providers: WorldPay US, Inc. Official Payments Corp. and Link2Gov Corp. These agencies charge a convenience fee of about 2% of your bill. Then you make payments to your credit card company, which will charge you interest as it does on any other purchase.

    4. Get a Fresh Start
If your tax problems stem from not filing your return at all, then you can expect to be charged a failure-to-file penalty which must be paid in addition to your back taxes. Currently, the failure-to-file penalty is 0.5% per month up to a maximum of 25% of your tax bill. The IRS has a program called Fresh Start, by which you can apply to have the failure-to-file penalty waived for up to six months. To qualify, you have to owe less than $50,000. You can apply by filing Form 1127-A .

    5. Request an Installment Agreement Online
If you owe $50,000 or less in combined tax, penalties, and interest and are up-to-date on filing your tax returns, you can go to the IRS website and use the online payment agreement (OPA) application process. If you owe less than $25,000, under this plan you can decide how much your monthly payment will be. However, you must pay off your balance within five years.

If your balance owed is more than $25,000, you must complete Form 433-F. the Collection Information Statement Form, to apply for participation in an installment plan. The IRS uses the information on the form to place a lien on your assets and then determine the amount of your monthly paymens. A lien informs the public that the U.S. government has a claim against all property, and any rights to property, of the taxpayer. If you don t pay your taxes, then the IRS s next move would be to issue a levy and take possession of your property with the intent to sell it.

    6. Request an Installment Agreement for a Large Balance Due
If you owe more than $50,000 and you want to apply for an installment agreement, you need to complete and mail Form 9465-FS and Form 433-F, the Collection Information Statement. This application cannot be done online. The IRS reviews your financial information and makes a decision as to whether you qualify for an installment plan. If the IRS approves your request, the agency asks for a fee ranging from $43 to $105 depending on your income and the type of payment plan for which you qualify.

    7. Consider Hiring a Professional
You should be able to handle the paperwork and negotiations by yourself, but if the very idea makes you nervous, then consider hiring a CPA, an enrolled agent, or a tax attorney to negotiate on your behalf.

    8. Stay Up-to-Date on Current and Future Taxes
While you re paying off what you owe for previous years, be sure to keep up-to-date on the current year s tax payments. If you don t have enough tax withheld from your salary or wages, or if you are self-employed, you can make estimated tax payments directly to the IRS using Form 1040-ES .

    Final Word

The IRS has a reputation for being heavy-handed in dealing with taxpayers a reputation that is deserved. However, policy changes in the past two years indicate that the agency is taking into account the devastating effects of the recession, and is considering that many taxpayers simply owe more than they can afford to pay. If you find yourself falling behind in your tax payments, it s time to give the IRS payment plans another look.

What strategies do you use to make sure that you don t owe more than you can afford to pay in taxes?

8 Essential Steps for Doing a Construction Project Quality Audit #construction

    #

    Construction Quality Assurance/Quality Control Blog

Your Project Quality Plan is in place. You think all contingencies are covered. You assume inspections are being conducted correctly. You figure your plan is being followed, your customer is happy, and your project is flowing smoothly, right?

That’s why it’s important to conduct a project quality audit. Your audit will show you what’s working and what’s not — so that you can get your project quality on track.

    What is a quality audit?

It’s one of the basic elements of an effective quality control plan. A quality audit is a review of how well (if at all) the key areas of your project quality plan are being followed. And, whether it’s effective in getting you the quality results you expect.

It’s basically a fact-finding mission and should be part of your regular monthly routine.

How to conduct a quality audit

In general, you’ll be making field observations, talking to customers and project personnel, and reviewing QA/QC records and reports.

The audit doesn’t only cover your work. Since your quality plan covers all project participants such as subcontractors, suppliers, and other outside services, your audit should include them as well. Keep in mind, many sub-contractors and project owners conduct their own inspections, and they can give you important information for spotting quality issues.

8 Steps to follow to conduct your project quality audit

Here are the steps you should follow as you conduct your audit.

    1. Talk to customers

It’s highly likely that your customers are performing their own inspections. Talk to them about their inspection results. Ask them to walk the jobsite with you to do a field quality review. If that’s not possible, you’ll still want to ask your customers a few questions such as:

    • Are there any quality issues that they’ve found
    • Are their expectations being met

    2. Walk the jobsite – do your field quality review

You’re probably already walking the job site and observing the way workers do their jobs. For your audit, pay close attention to the following areas:

    • Is their workmanship the quality you expect
    • Are workers following the correct procedures
    • Do they show that they have the skills needed to do the job
    • If you’re dealing with lot controlled materials, do you see the lot identification markings

    3. Review quality records and reports

Next, make a trip to the project field office and look at your project QA/QC documents and records. There are two reasons for this part of the audit. First, you want to see if your superintendents and project management personnel are completing and filing all the needed records and reports. Second, you want to check to see that they’ve completed them correctly.

    4. Reinspect work tasks

Now, grab a few reports. It’s time to see if your inspectors have been doing a good job inspecting (aka inspector qualification). With your sampling of inspection and nonconformance reports in hand, go out and reinspect the work that’s already been inspected. Compare what you see on the report with your own observations.

    • Is there anything they’ve missed
    • Have the repairs and punch items been reported correctly

    5. Talk to field personnel

The next step is to talk to your field personnel to see if they’re properly trained and following the correct procedures. You also want to learn about the standards, specifications, and drawings they’re using (or in some cases, not using).

A good way to conduct this part of the audit is to ask simple open-ended questions such as, “How do you know the right way to install an HVAC air handler?”

Here’s what you want to know:

    • What training have they been given
    • Do they have the necessary certifications if required
    • Do workers have easy access to project standards, specifications, drawings, and change orders
    • Are they using up-to-date standards and specs

    6. Follow-up on previous audit action plan items

Follow up to see that progress is being made on previous audit action items. Each month, you should see improvements in your project quality and find fewer deficiencies.

    7. Record your findings

Create an audit report and record your findings.

Keeping records will protect your company should future problems arise. It will demonstrate due diligence and your follow up will show that you’re making corrections to issues found.

    8. Create an action plan

Finally, create your action plan. In order to figure out how to get better results, you’ll need to understand why your plan isn’t being followed fully. Maybe you need to reinforce the importance of following the plan. Could it be that your construction quality control plan is too complicated to follow? If your quality plan is being followed, are you getting the quality results you’d expected?

Once you know the issues, decide on a course of action and a plan to carry it out.

    Conclusion

Auditing your project quality is an ongoing process. Whether you follow a formal, highly structured process or a more casual, less structured approach, you need to regularly audit the implementation and effectiveness of your project quality plan.

In time, all of your projects will get the quality results you expect — and with much less effort need from all project personnel.

    Types of Retirement Plans #defined #benefit #plan #administration

    #

    Subtopics

The Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) covers two types of pension plans: defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans.

A defined benefit plan promises a specified monthly benefit at retirement. The plan may state this promised benefit as an exact dollar amount, such as $100 per month at retirement. Or, more commonly, it may calculate a benefit through a plan formula that considers such factors as salary and service — for example, 1 percent of average salary for the last 5 years of employment for every year of service with an employer. The benefits in most traditional defined benefit plans are protected, within certain limitations, by federal insurance provided through the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) .

A defined contribution plan, on the other hand, does not promise a specific amount of benefits at retirement. In these plans, the employee or the employer (or both) contribute to the employee’s individual account under the plan, sometimes at a set rate, such as 5 percent of earnings annually. These contributions generally are invested on the employee’s behalf. The employee will ultimately receive the balance in their account, which is based on contributions plus or minus investment gains or losses. The value of the account will fluctuate due to the changes in the value of the investments. Examples of defined contribution plans include 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, employee stock ownership plans, and profit-sharing plans.

A Simplified Employee Pension Plan (SEP) is a relatively uncomplicated retirement savings vehicles. A SEP allows employees to make contributions on a tax-favored basis to individual retirement accounts (IRAs) owned by the employees. SEPs are subject to minimal reporting and disclosure requirements. Under a SEP, an employee must set up an IRA to accept the employer’s contributions. Employers may no longer set up Salary Reduction SEPs. However, employers are permitted to establish SIMPLE IRA plans with salary reduction contributions. If an employer had a salary reduction SEP, the employer may continue to allow salary reduction contributions to the plan.

A Profit Sharing Plan or Stock Bonus Plan is a defined contribution plan under which the plan may provide, or the employer may determine, annually, how much will be contributed to the plan (out of profits or otherwise). The plan contains a formula for allocating to each participant a portion of each annual contribution. A profit sharing plan or stock bonus plan include a 401(k) plan.

A 401(k) Plan is a defined contribution plan that is a cash or deferred arrangement. Employees can elect to defer receiving a portion of their salary which is instead contributed on their behalf, before taxes, to the 401(k) plan. Sometimes the employer may match these contributions. There are special rules governing the operation of a 401(k) plan. For example, there is a dollar limit on the amount an employee may elect to defer each year. An employer must advise employees of any limits that may apply. Employees who participate in 401(k) plans assume responsibility for their retirement income by contributing part of their salary and, in many instances, by directing their own investments.

An Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) is a form of defined contribution plan in which the investments are primarily in employer stock.

A Money Purchase Pension Plan is a plan that requires fixed annual contributions from the employer to the employee’s individual account. Because a money purchase pension plan requires these regular contributions, the plan is subject to certain funding and other rules.

A Cash Balance Plan is a defined benefit plan that defines the benefit in terms that are more characteristic of a defined contribution plan. In other words, a cash balance plan defines the promised benefit in terms of a stated account balance. In a typical cash balance plan, a participant’s account is credited each year with a “pay credit” (such as 5 percent of compensation from his or her employer) and an “interest credit” (either a fixed rate or a variable rate that is linked to an index such as the one-year treasury bill rate). Increases and decreases in the value of the plan’s investments do not directly affect the benefit amounts promised to participants. Thus, the investment risks and rewards on plan assets are borne solely by the employer. When a participant becomes entitled to receive benefits under a cash balance plan, the benefits that are received are defined in terms of an account balance. The benefits in most cash balance plans, as in most traditional defined benefit plans, are protected, within certain limitations, by federal insurance provided through the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) .

The Great Benefits Of Your Company s Employee Stock Purchase Plan

    #

    Basics Benefits

The Great Benefits Of Your Company’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan

    Key Points

    1. An ESPP offers a way to purchase company stock easily and on favorable terms. Fitting ESPPs into your financial plan is therefore worth trying.
    2. Plans that meet the conditions under Section 423 of the Internal Revenue Code generally offer the best deal for employees. What makes a Section 423 plan so appealing is the potential for both a discounted price and a lookback feature.
    3. A potential tax benefit exists in Section 423 ESPPs if you hold shares at least one year from purchase and two years from the start of the purchase period.

Your company may offer you an attractive benefit that is even better than stock options. An employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) enables you to purchase company stock often at a discount from the market price. In the most generous plans, you buy the stock with payroll deductions of up to 15% of your paycheck (you decide how much within this range, with a $25,000 annual maximum for tax-qualified plans).

An ESPP offers a way to purchase company stock easily and on favorable terms, giving you (not just top executives) an opportunity to share the potential growth of your company’s stock. Fitting ESPPs into your financial plan is worth trying (see a related article ).

Section 423 ESPPs are almost too good to be true.

Although the mechanics of ESPPs vary, plans that meet the conditions under Section 423 of the Internal Revenue Code generally offer the best deal for employees. What makes a Section 423 plan so appealing is the double-barreled “goodie” that comes from a discounted price along with something called a “lookback” feature. Unfortunately, many employees don’t fully understand how the discount and lookback features work (see the FAQs in ESPPs: Basics ). As a result, they might pass up a deal that is almost too good to be true. Even with the accounting change that has made it more “costly” for companies to offer discounts with lookbacks, ESPPs remain an attractive benefit for tax reasons (see how companies are responding to ESPP expensing ).

The Discount—A Built-In Profit Of At Least 17.6% (Even In Down Markets)—With Potential For Much More

The biggest discount the IRS allows is 15%, but (here’s the kicker) it can be much greater if your ESPP has a lookback feature: your purchase price is 15% off the market price at either the beginning or the end of the purchase period, whichever is lower, and a typical plan purchase period runs for six months.

Example: The stock price is $10 at the beginning of the purchase period and goes up to $20 at the end. Your purchase price is just $8.50-a hefty 135% return! Even if the price never moves from $10, the 15% discount results in an $8.50 purchase price, giving you a 17.6% return ($10 – $8.50 = $1.50; $1.50/$8.50 = 17.6%). Even if the price drops to, say, $5 at the end of the purchase period, your purchase price will be $4.25, so you will still get a 17.6% return ($5 – $4.25 = $.75; $.75/$4.25 = 17.6%)! (See a related FAQ for an example with a smaller discount and an example with no lookback.)

A potential tax benefit exists in Section 423 ESPPs if you hold shares at least one year from purchase and two years from the start of the purchase period.

As for taxes, although the money deducted from your paycheck will be taxed like the rest of your salary (i.e. post-tax), you have potential tax benefits under Section 423 ESPPs if you are willing to hold the shares for at least one year from the purchase date and two years from the beginning of the purchase period: any tax liability is deferred until the stock is sold, and only the purchase price discount (or your actual gain on sale, if lower) will be taxed at ordinary income rates, with the rest of your gain as long-term capital gain. For plans with a lookback feature, the discount that is subject to ordinary income tax is computed as of the first day of the purchase period (see ESPPs: Taxes Advanced for details and examples).

You Can Opt Out And Get Your Money Back!

At any time up to the purchase date, ESPPs typically allow you to withdraw all of your money from accumulated payroll deductions instead of purchasing the shares (see ESPPs: Advanced ). Check your company’s procedures for doing this during an ongoing offering and for re-enrolling later in the ESPP. In short, you have absolutely nothing to lose and much to gain by participating in an ESPP!

How To Reap The Full Benefits

Investing in any company’s stock is risky: we all know that. Markets go up and down. But with risks come rewards, and hanging on for the long term (as opposed to selling the stock immediately on the purchase date for a quick gain) is, more often than not, rewarding. You probably won’t get rich overnight by participating in a company ESPP. Over time, however, the gains can be attractive.

    Chart Past Performance

Over time, the gains can be attractive.

Perhaps a better way to understand the value of a long-term investment in your company’s stock is looking at its past performance. While this is no guarantee of future performance, charting the stock price’s course over the past five years or so may give you some idea of what you have been missing by not participating. In the long-running bull market of the 1990s, ESPP participants who stuck with it probably did well.

    Dollar Cost Averaging

Even dips in the stock price will work in your favor. The great thing about an ESPP is that it encourages regular investing of a specific amount of money, which allows you to take advantage of something referred to as “dollar cost averaging.” That is: the lower the price, the more shares you can purchase with your accumulated funds at the end of the purchase period and vice versa. Understanding this can make the dips in the company’s stock price much easier to tolerate because the more shares you own the greater the upside potential as the stock price rises.

Example: You have $5,000 deducted from your pay to invest at the end of every offering period. The price at the beginning of one period was $10 but dropped to $5 by the purchase date. With your 15% discount, you purchase 1,176 shares at $4.25 per share (1,176 x $4.25 = $5,000). The next offering period begins on the following day, when the stock is still at $5, and ends when the stock is $10 per share. Again, with the lookback feature and the discount, you purchase another 1,176 shares at $4.25 per share. When the share price reaches, say, $20, the total of 2,352 shares you purchased for $10,000 will have already earned you a pre-tax gain of $37,044 ($20 – $4.25 = $15.75; $15.75 x 2,352 = $37,044). Now that’s putting your money to work!

Keep in mind too that if your company pays dividends the deal gets even better. You will receive a check for the dividend amount each quarter for the stock you hold. If your company has a dividend reinvestment plan, you have yet another opportunity to take advantage of dollar cost averaging to buy even more shares of company stock.

Nonqualified Plans: Convenient And Inexpensive Stock Purchases

The above discussion applies only to Section 423 ESPPs (and even some Section 423 ESPPs may not offer the full 15% discount or the lookback feature). You may also have an attractive ESPP with a discount or match that is not structured to meet the requirements of IRC Section 423 (see a related FAQ ). At the other end of the spectrum are simple non-Section 423 payroll deduction plans that allow you to accumulate funds to purchase company stock at the end of, say, the pay period, or on a monthly basis. No bells or whistles are attached to these plans, and typically they offer no significant discounts off the purchase price. Rather, the appeal of plain payroll deductions is the ease with which you can regularly purchase shares. Plus, the company usually picks up any commissions incurred in the purchase transactions. (Of course, these attractive features are part of all Section 423 ESPPs as well.)

Bottom line: few investments start out with a minimum 17.6% gain. So don’t forget to take full advantage of your company’s ESPP. It offers an easy, efficient, painless, and rewarding way to pursue a disciplined savings plan and build your financial resources for the long term.

    Cafe Business Plan #internet #cafe #business #plan #pdf, #business #plans

    Cafe Business Plan

    1.0 Executive Summary

The Russet Cup will be a one of a kind coffee house / café located in Overland Park, Kansas. The 1,500 square foot café will be located in the newly constructed Market Square Plaza located on the northeast corner of 135th Street and Mission Street. The anchor tenant, the Price Chopper grocery store, has already taken occupancy and the excellent location brings more than 10,000 shoppers weekly.

The Russet Cup, aptly named for the aromatic brown liquid that will fill the cup, fills the void of original cafes in the market area, stands out from its corporate peers with their fast food concepts and fast services. The Russet Cup is the alternative to fast food/commercial/coffee shops and offers a much calmer, civilized gourmet coffee experience. There are no televisions in the café, the background music is subtle and work from local artists will hang on the walls. The café is well appointed with overstuffed leather chairs and sofas in a library like setting. The café is reminiscent of times gone by – yet is cutting edge technologically with WIFI and state of the art espresso machines.

The Russet Cup measures its financial success in terms of increased market share and in earnings. With a total local market of $54 million, this is a tremendous opportunity! The keys to success will be the ability to offer quality gourmet coffees, take advantage of its small size, and reliance on an outstanding barista staff. In order to achieve these goals, the café will offer some the area’s finest gourmet beans from local distributors. Because of its small size, the café can enjoy larger margins in the form of lower overhead. The cafe will hand select baristas and offer salaries comparable to the chains. In turn the baristas will be trained to cross-sell, and sell the higher margin products. d.

    1.1 Business Objectives

The primary objectives of the business plan for Russet Cup are below:

    • To increase revenues $36,000 or 5% in Year 2 and by $73,000 or 10% by Year 3
    • Achieve a profit margin of 5.2% in Year 2 and 6.90% by Year 3
    • Be the Café of Choice in the Overland Park area and recipient of the Best Coffeehouse Award

    1.2 Mission Statement

The Russet Cup is committed to its products and employees which they believe is the recipe for market success.

    1.3 Guiding Principles

The Russet Cup is committed to values such as excellence, passion, quality, integrity and leadership which allow them to navigate challenges and provide for future opportunities. These core beliefs start with their commitment to their products and their employees.

The Russet Cup rewards excellence and cherishes loyalty. The café will work with its employees to build strong businesses and a secure future.

    1.4 Keys to Success

The Russet Cup stands out from the competition. Below are their Keys to Success:

    • Great Products – providing exemplary products at market prices – will make customers want to return again and again
    • Hire Quality Baristas – Pay employees rates similar to the larger chains with opportunities for long term careers and opportunities for advancement with long term plans to open a second facility
    • Convert Customers to Connoisseurs – Only 40% of the nations coffee drinkers consume premium ground and whole bean coffee – this will aid in continued growth

Effective SAP Project Managers – SAP Program Managers Deliver Results #erp

    #

    SAP Project Success

In all the years I’ve been involved with SAP I’ve often puzzled about what makes a really good project rather than some of the freak shows they call SAP projects. After involvement in over 20 SAP projects I’ve seen a few of them go really well, a few that were more like horror shows, but most were mediocre. I’ve often asked myself “Why?” What makes the difference between a good project and one that is nothing short of a mess?

One key item that stands out is project management. Even with the most talented and dedicated resources bad project management can ruin an otherwise great SAP project.

I don’t blame client project managers because if they had all of the resources they would not need outside help and guidance.

Before I get into this, let me define what I consider a “good” project. A good project is one where there is a lot to do, but the stress level is not intense. The timeline may be tight but it is achievable (maybe a little bit of a stretch). The project is delivered on time, on budget, within scope and the result is high quality (a fairly smooth transition without a chaotic go-live).

Methodology Considerations for a Good SAP Project or SAP Program

The list below is from a synthesis of materials from SAP’s ASAP methodology, the PMI (Project Management Institute), and my personal experience over the years. Much of this is contained in the SAP ASAP methodology in one form or another so you really have to wonder what any consultant is following if they claim to use it and these items are lacking. In fact the latest ASAP Methodology version 7.1 includes a project start-up checklist to ensure key components are addressed.

Unlike several years ago when contract project managers had to rely on experience alone the SAP ASAP Methodology is well-proven and mature today.

There are several key characteristics of a well managed SAP project which includes:

Early SAP Project or Program Management Activities (Before the Overall SAP Project is Fully Underway)

    • Success criteria defined and communicated for the project.
    • One of the first things that is defined for the project are the key roles, responsibilities, and tasks that will be performed by each participant group in the project.
    • A clear, definitive project plan with WBS elements, networks, and activities planned for every major work-stream throughout the entire timeline.
    • A clear list of deliverables, milestones, templates, and instructions on their usage are provided for the entire project.
    • Deliverables are clearly tied to project value rather than useless administrative exercises (value added activities) (see SAP System Vendor Project Success Criteria Factors 1 scroll down to Sections 8 and 9 ).
    • Scope, time, issues, risk, cost, communication, and integration management plans, together with additional key components are defined.
    • Various standards for the project are defined and documented, including but not limited to business process, development, configuration, enhancement, transport management, testing, etc.

If you are using outside contract project management resources and these items are not substantially in place by the time you start your project you will likely have your timeline and budget destroyed. Along with the blown schedule and budget your project will also be a pressure cooker filled with stress, anxiety, and frustration. These are also characteristics you find when an SAP project manager or SAP program manager is not qualified. The chaos, tension, stress, and confusion caused by their inability to coordinate the many moving parts of the project are a direct result of their lack of experience and ability.

I don’t blame client project managers because if they had all of the resources they would not need outside help and guidance.

The project should be delivered on time, on budget, within scope and with high quality

Conclusion on Effective SAP Project or Program Management Practices

You are headed for a project disaster when a contract SAP project manager or SAP program manager fails to ensure the following items are in place early in the project:

    • responsibilities by group and role are defined,
    • deliverables are well laid out,
    • templates are properly prepared,
    • forward looking expectations are set,
    • coordination occurs between all project groups,
    • etc.

I’ve only ever been on a few projects when the SAP project manager or SAP program manager failed to produce a properly detailed project plan. Every one of those projects had one thing in common, they were absolutely horrendously stressful, difficult, and took more time and cost more than necessary. Along with the failure to produce a proper project plan the lack of proper deliverables, proper roles and responsibilities, and all of the other things a good project plan would help you define were also missing. If this happens to you FIRE those contractors, you are being bled dry and are headed for a budget and timeline disaster.

For much more detail on what happens when you have bad contract SAP project managers or SAP program managers see the post Some Reasons SAP Projects are Over Budget and Over Time .

    Debt Management Plans (DMP) #free #debt #management #plan

    Debt Management Plans (DMPs)

What is a Debt Management Plan and how to let PayPlan shoulder the worry of dealing with your creditors

A Debt Management Plan, or DMP, is an informal arrangement whereby you agree to pay back your debts but at a reduced amount. You can either set up a plan with your creditors directly or use a debt management company to help deal with your creditors on your behalf. In a PayPlan DMP you make one monthly payment based on what you can afford and this amount will be divided amongst your creditors, ensuring all of your debts are being paid.

    GET FREE DEBT HELP

Looking for free debt help? Fill in our quick 3 step form and one of our friendly advisers will be in touch.

    We can help you!

To get personalised free debt help and advice on your options to becoming debt free simply enter your details below:

Unlike most debt management companies, PayPlan does not charge fees for setting up and handling debt management plans. So you’ll pay no set-up fee or no monthly fees – allowing all of your regular payments to go towards repaying your debt.

Is a debt management plan right for me?

A debt management plan is an informal agreement between you and your creditors whereby you agree to repay your debt in reduced payments that are more affordable for you.

It could be the right solution for you if you have more than £4,500 in unsecured debts and if you are struggling to make the repayments. All debt will be repaid and there is no obligation to release equitable interest or other assets to your creditors.

It might not be the right solution for you if you have a higher amount of debt as depending on how much you can afford each month, it could take you a lot longer to repay back your debts. When you call PayPlan we will advise you of all the available options so you can see whether there is an alternative option that will get you out of debt quicker.

If you are unsure of what is the best option for you, contact PayPlan to discuss your options with our friendly team.

    Why choose a PayPlan DMP?

PayPlan don t charge their customers anything for their DMP services because we believe every penny you pay should go towards your debts. With lots of fee charging companies closing down, we have created an online DMP calculator so you can see how much money you could save if you opted for a free debt management plan.

Simply move the sliders to show the percentage you pay to your current debt management company and to show how much you currently pay into your DMP. Our debt management plan calculator will use these figures to work out how much more money you could be repaying towards your debts.

What to expect from a FREE debt management plan with PayPlan?

    Single, affordable, regular payments

You make just ONE PAYMENT every month, at the most convenient time for you – for many people this is just after they’ve been paid. We then use this payment to pay all of your creditors. Read more below if you need help with debt management plans

    Convenient online tracking

You can check the progress of your plan at any time on PayPlanPlus.
This free online service enables you to keep tabs on all the payments you make, the amount that has been paid to all of your creditors and allows you to see an estimated time scale of when your debt will be repaid.

    Freezing of interests and charges

While PayPlan cannot guarantee to get interest and charges frozen in all cases, we will talk to your creditors and ask them to freeze interest and charges while you make your repayments. We have an excellent reputation within the credit industry and use this to help you.

    Friendly and experienced staff

You’ll find our trained advisers understanding of your situation and ALWAYS ON HAND to assist you with any questions you have about your debt management plan.

How about the small print ?

We always ensure our clients are aware of, and understand, all aspects of the debt solutions we advise on. So before committing to a Debt Management Plan, you should be aware that failure to keep to your agreed repayment terms will result in your plan being cancelled. If you fail to meet your payments your creditors might also look to take legal action against you to ensure they get some form of repayment from you.

By entering into a DMP your regular repayments may be lower, however your repayment period could be longer and the total amount payable higher. This is why when you contact us we will always look at a range of solutions – we want you to get out of debt as soon as you can so you can start enjoying your life again.

Like the majority of debt solutions, entering into a Debt Management Plan will affect your credit rating. A DMP is not a formal agreement so creditors do not have to accept the proposal and they can continue to register defaults until you have repaid all your debt. With some debt solutions, your credit rating will only be affected for a period of time. However with a DMP your credit rating could be affected for 6 years from the date of the last Default Notice issued against you, which your creditors can issue at any point during the plan.

    Plan Outline

    Web Design Business Plan

Ibrio Inc. is a full-service Internet solutions provider for small businesses. We focus mainly on the Web, offering the following as our key ‘Bread Butter’ website services:

    • Design and development.
    • Marketing and analysis.
    • Hosting and maintenance.

We currently offer the following secondary services:

    • E-commerce development.
    • Website renovations and upgrades.
    • Application development (i.e. chatrooms, message boards, online polling, live-feed audio/video, etc.).
    • Website maintenance training.
    • Internet/website education seminars.
    • Database construction.

We have plans to offer the following services within the next year:

    • Internet access service for small businesses.
    • Local Area Network (LAN) installation.
    • Intranet setup and installation.
    • Result-based website marketing.

    3.1 Service Description

Website Design and Development: The service that we offer to small businesses is modeled after the service that larger Web development firms offer Fortune 1000 companies in the sense that it is completely customized and unique to each individual client.

Website Marketing and Analysis: After we build the website for our client, or a new client introduces us to their pre-existing site, we offer this service. As experts of the Web, we can analyze and test a website based on an established set of standards that account for the website’s aesthetic value, scalability, functionality, ease-of-use, and main customer base. After an analysis has been made, we then explore and present to the client a detailed list of the most efficient Internet marketing tools and methods available to them within the constraints of their budget. This type of service is pertinent to our company given the fact that a very large percentage of our clients are on a tight budget and can only afford to take advantage of marketing efforts that are targeted directly at their desired demographic.

Website Hosting and Maintenance: This service is offered for two reasons. The first reason is because they are both ongoing, continual services that we can use to establish and maintain a strong residual income. The second reason for offering these services is to allow for packaging together with other services either Ibrio Inc. offers, or services an outside company can provide, hence allowing us to expand our range of small business Internet services.

    3.2 Sales Literature

Ibrio Inc. currently distributes a sales folder with all the pertinent information about our company and services. This folder includes our strong points, history, portfolio examples, and pricing packages info. It also contains facts based on the growth and popularity of the Internet for small businesses.

Ibrio Inc. currently operates and maintains a fully-functioning website that provides information about the company, plus a variety of helpful resources for small business owners which we will be constantly updating.

In the next six months, we plan to produce and distribute bulk mail and fax flyers promoting our Web development and hosting services to small businesses in Central PA to solicit new business.

We have plans to offer a more compact version of our main sales folder in a brochure format. This brochure will be available both as a mailer to interested parties and as a sales solicitation in area businesses.

    3.3 Fulfillment

For the website design, development, marketing, analysis, and maintenance we will employ industry professionals to handle our clients’ needs. Working for the company presently is Brandon Andrews, a professional website development engineer and strategist with four years of experience in the commercial Web development industry. To keep employee costs low, we have designed a “team” development system that will consist of two full-time sales people and three full-time Web developers. Of the Web developers, one position will be filled by a highly-qualified senior Web professional and two lesser-qualified, lower paid developers. All three will work full-time on separate projects provided to them by the sales people. However, the senior developer will have the duty of maintaining the same high quality level of work in the junior developers’ projects, that our clients have learned to expect from us now.

For the website hosting services we offer, Ibrio Inc. has formed several alliances with industry leaders to provide top-rate, reliable hosting solutions. Forming the alliances has allowed us much flexibility in important hosting features, customizability, and it has drove costs down dramatically. All these benefits are crucial to preserving the integrity of our company as being a ‘fully-rounded Internet solutions provider’ for small businesses.

    3.4 Technology

It is a given that technology and keeping up with new innovations strongly influence our business. We operate a Windows® based Local Area Network (LAN) in the office that is equipped with the most current software and hardware tools available to meet our project requirements. Within the next year, we will be investing in additional tools that will extend our capabilities in handling various types of program files (i.e. Macintosh computers, large capacity data storage, and high-end image scanners). We also have plans to purchase licensing agreements with our major software vendors to allow for automatic upgrades in new software tools.

Currently we own and operate both a professional digital and film camera for the purpose of offering on-site and in-house product and business photography to our clients. We would like to improve upon these services in the near future by purchasing a more complete photography system, it has been our experience that this is a service many small businesses are recognizing as a crucial part of their online marketing efforts and would take advantage of it were we to offer such a service.

    3.5 Future Services

Local Area Network Installation: These days, a quickly increasing number of small businesses are using computers as a necessary tool in the everyday operations of the company. We would like to be able to expand our current services to meet this new demand. We will handle every aspect of setting up a small business with an internal network of computers from purchasing, installing, and configuring the machines to software integration and educating the employees on proper usage and operating functions.

Intranet Setup Installation: In our plan, after developing an Internet website for outside marketing purposes, we would like to offer the service of implementing the website into the network for use in all the business day-to-day operations. This would include extensive product/service cataloging, vital employee and management information, sharing of accounting and inventory details, etc. all intended for strictly company uses.

Internet Access for Small Business: This feature would act as another residual, packageable service. We would target small businesses exclusively allowing us to provide more flexibility and affordability to our clients through discounted high volume rates, value added service packages, and much more aggressive technical support services.

Result-based Marketing: This is a service that no small business can turn down. We have plans to offer aggressive, intensified marketing services with the fees based solely on results. To achieve this, we are in the process of forming multiple partnerships and alliances with industry specific Internet websites and various other software and service-oriented companies that provide specific marketing services and tools based on results achieved. We feel as though offering this rare service will dramatically increase our portfolio of clients.

Contingency Planning and Business Continuity Plan Development: Disaster Recovery Plans #business

    #

Business Continuity, Contingency Planning & Disaster Recovery

Where to find contingency planning & business continuity software solutions

Business continuity management and contingency planning are of course essential and unavoidable tasks. However, the creation of a sound continuity and contingency plan is a complex undertaking, involving a number of stages and discrete activities.

For example, initially it is necessary to understand the underlying risks and the potential impacts of disaster. these are the building blocks upon which a sensible business continuity plan or disaster recovery plan should be built. Then the plan itself must be created. which of course is far from trivial. Then there are the maintenance and testing phases, to ensure that the plan remains current. Even having arranged all these matters there is audit to consider – and of course, there is the not so small matter of ISO27001!

Contingency Planning & Business Continuity World is designed to consider all these stages and to catalog some of the most highly acclaimed support products. Here you will find software to assist with business impact analysis and risk analysis. You will also find links to products to help you create and maintain the plan itself, as well as audit the plan and the arrangments in place to support it.

Whether you are entirely new to business continuity management, or whether you have a published and established contingency plan already in place, hopefully we can offer significant value.

The first step in a sensible business continuity planning process is to consider the potential impacts of each type of disaster or event. This is critical – how can you properly plan for a disaster if you have little idea of the likely impacts on your business/organization of the different scenarios?

Creating the business continuity plan itself is far from a trivial undertaking. Every aspect of the plan must be carefully managed to ensure that it does not fall short when most needed. Fortunately, there are tools available to help. perhaps the most impressive being the BCP Generator. This is essentially an intelligent disaster recovery plan template and guide, greatly simplifying the entire plan creation exercise.

Having developed the business continuity plan, it is sensible to perform an audit. not just initially, but at regular intervals. This helps ensure that it remains current, and that it stands up to rigorous examination. Equally important are periodic checks on ‘business as usual’ contingency practices.

Having determined the impacts, it is now equally important to consider the magnitude of the risks which could result in these impacts. Again, this is a critical activity – it will determine which scenarios are most likely to occur and which should attract most attention during the planning process.

Service level agreements are an important part of business continuity management. This section explains their role and gives direction on SLA development. We also offer a section of general business continuity books and publications.

ISO 27001 requires appropriate business continuity and contingency planning. and compliance with this internationally recognized standard is growing in importance.

But how do you achieve this? How do you manage the compliance process? How do you know where you stand in relation to the demands of the standard?

We hope that this directory has been of substantial use. If not present within the site itself, the links provided should direct you to a suitable source. If, however, you need any further assistance, or have any comments on this portal, please contact us

How to Plan a Round-the-World Travel Route That Makes Sense #tucan

How to Plan a Round-the-World Travel Route That Makes Sense

Subscribe to Our Under the Radar Newsletter

Your information will *never* be shared or sold to a 3rd party. Promise.

Planning a route for a round-the-world trip is both thrilling and problematic. There s a mad excitement to standing in front of a world map and tracing a circumnavigation with your finger tip. Everything seems possible. But when you start trying to create a realistic, practical route, the world can start to fall down around you.

So just how can you plan a RTW travel route that makes sense? There are a number of factors to consider, including these:

    Walking on Water, Indonesia ^riza^

    #1 Making Sensible Destination Choices

I d say you can t really go wrong when choosing the stops on a RTW trip, but some routes are more right than others. There are a number of factors to consider, but one that I think many people neglect is making sure your trip has a good variety of destinations. You might love the beach, but a RTW trip that stops in California, Australia and Thailand, all for the sun and sand, could get a bit repetitive. Think carefully about the different kinds of travel experiences you want to have and pick your stops to give a variety of these.

At the same time, don t get carried away with trying to see the whole world. It might be a round-the-world trip, but you shouldn t treat it as the only chance you re ever going to have to travel, or you ll try to squeeze in everything and end up hating it. Remember that you ll definitely enjoy your travels more if you have just half a dozen really interesting destinations, rather than trying to see every landmark in a continent.

#2 The Biggest Problem: The Cost

I ve often dreamed up some truly fantastic RTW itineraries for myself, only to plug them in online and discover that buying a new car would be significantly cheaper. My favorite site to use is the Airtreks TripPlanner which allows you to experiment with all kinds of great routes, seeing different prices and adding or subtracting cities as it suits you. They also have a neat interactive map which makes it easy to map out a trip idea while making sure you keep traveling in the same direction, and the search results add in additional stops that can be made either for the same price or just a little more although more choices are sometimes not what you need.

In any case, a RTW travel ticket is nearly always going to start at $2,000 and can often be around $3,000 or $4,000. That makes it a pretty hefty part of your budget. If that s tight whose budget isn t? then play around with your route to get the best value for your money.

Of course, there is more than just your flight to pay, especially if you re traveling for a long stretch. Research your destinations to get an idea of the average daily costs for travelers and figure out your budget (adding a good 10 or 20 percent buffer). You might decide you need to spend longer in cheaper countries and have a relatively short stay in more expensive places.

    #3 Different Climates and Seasons

There are two reasons why the weather is important: you might have a personal preference (I m a summer girl), and it has a big impact on what you pack. If you re doing a medium to long-term backpacking stint, you may not want to have to carry clothes for all seasons. Alternatively, you might want to visit winter or cold climate destinations as the first part of your trip and then dump your coats or send your winter woollies home.

There are, of course, ways around these problems, but if you have the flexibility while you re still in the planning stages, do a bit of research about the expected weather at particular times of year in the places you want to visit. WorldClimate.com is a great resource for this and can help you structure your trip to take advantage of better weather, or perhaps even avoid your most hated season altogether.

    Daydreaming, Japan *Solar ikon*

    #4 Time Spent Traveling

While you might imagine anyone booking a RTW flight to be taking a slow journey of months or even a year, a lot of people are taking advantage of RTW flight routes to travel for just a few weeks, visiting several places in different continents. In that case, you really need to do your research on how much time will be spent in traveling, whether by air or land. You don t want the memories of your big trip to be of departure lounges and airplane food. And remember pure flight times aren t enough, you have to factor in checking in before hand and traveling to the airport. It all adds up.

    #5 Practicalities: Visas and Health

It s not much fun to get back down to earth when you re planning your RTW route and think about boring practicalities like visas or medical insurance, but it s still necessary. You should check which countries you re going to visit will require visas, and make sure that the timing of these will fit into your overall route. For example, some countries have visa requirements that limit the validity of the visa you may not be able to get it issued more than six months in advance, which could be tricky.

Also, it pays to start researching a decent travel insurance policy particularly one that includes health cover while you re still at the planning stages. Plus you ll need to take a note of which countries you might need vaccinations or shots for, and how the timing of these work, too. When I was planning a trip to Namibia, I remember getting stumped by how and where I was going to be able to get the booster vaccinations required. Long trips can make timing complicated.

    Enjoy Your Planning

Don t forget that the planning is often just as fun as the actual traveling. Take enough time to daydream about what your trip might bring, and to let your imagination run wild. Don t be afraid to visit a country that you don t know much about, or better yet, get your hands on some good reading material and learn about it. Keep a world map handy so you can play with possible routes in your mind whenever the mood takes you. This trip will undoubtedly be one of the best experiences of your life. Enjoy it right from the start.

Internet Cafe Sample Business Plan – Executive Summary #executive #summary, #objectives,

    Plan Outline

    Internet Cafe Business Plan

    Executive Summary

JavaNet, unlike a typical cafe, will provide a unique forum for communication and entertainment through the medium of the Internet. JavaNet is the answer to an increasing demand. The public wants: (1) access to the methods of communication and volumes of information now available on the Internet, and (2) access at a cost they can afford and in such a way that they aren’t socially, economically, or politically isolated. JavaNet’s goal is to provide the community with a social, educational, entertaining, atmosphere for worldwide communication.

This business plan is prepared to obtain financing in the amount of £24,000. The supplemental financing is required to begin work on site preparation and modifications, equipment purchases, and to cover expenses in the first year of operations. Additional financing has already been secured in the form of: (1) £24,000 from the Oregon Economic Development Fund (2) £19,000 of personal savings from owner Cale Bruckner (3) £36,000 from three investors (4) and £9,290 in the form of short-term loans.

JavaNet will be incorporated as an LLC corporation. This will shield the owner Cale Bruckner, and the three outside investors, Luke Walsh, Doug Wilson, and John Underwood, from issues of personal liability and double taxation. The investors will be treated as shareholders and therefore will not be liable for more than their individual personal investment of £12,000 each.

The financing, in addition to the capital contributions from the owner, shareholders and the Oregon Economic Development Fund, will allow JavaNet to successfully open and maintain operations through year one. The large initial capital investment will allow JavaNet to provide its customers with a full featured Internet cafe. A unique, upscale, and innovative environment is required to provide the customers with an atmosphere that will spawn socialization. Successful operation in year one will provide JavaNet with a customer base that will allow it to be self sufficient in year two.

    1.1 Objectives

JavaNet’s objectives for the first three years of operation include:

    • The creation of a unique, upscale, innovative environment that will differentiate JavaNet from local coffee houses.
    • Educating the community on what the Internet has to offer.
    • The formation of an environment that will bring people with diverse interests and backgrounds together in a common forum.
    • Good coffee and bakery items at a reasonable price.
    • Affordable access to the resources of the Internet and other online services.

    1.2 Keys to Success

The keys to the success for JavaNet are:

    • The creation of a unique, innovative, upscale atmosphere that will differentiate JavaNet from other local coffee shops and future Internet cafes.
    • The establishment of JavaNet as a community hub for socialization and entertainment.
    • The creation of an environment that won’t intimidate the novice user. JavaNet will position itself as an educational resource for individuals wishing to learn about the benefits the Internet has to offer.
    • Great coffee and bakery items.

    1.3 Mission

As the popularity of the Internet continues to grow at an exponential rate, easy and affordable access is quickly becoming a necessity of life. JavaNet provides communities with the ability to access the Internet, enjoy a cup of coffee, and share Internet experiences in a comfortable environment. People of all ages and backgrounds will come to enjoy the unique, upscale, educational, and innovative environment that JavaNet provides.

    1.4 Risks

The risks involved with starting JavaNet are:

    • Will there be a demand for the services offered by JavaNet in Eugene?
    • Will the popularity of the Internet continue to grow, or is the Internet a fad?
    • Will individuals be willing to pay for the service JavaNet offers?
    • Will the cost of accessing the Internet from home drop so significantly that there will not be a market for Internet Cafes such as JavaNet?

Best Cheap Flights to Hawaii Strategy; How to Get a Cheap Hawaiian Flight

You are going to Hawaii and you want to find the cheapest airline flight possible so let me share with you my no-fail strategy for being sure that you are getting the absolute best price available.

Regardless, of when you are leaving (tomorrow, or a year from now), you want to find out a baseline normal price in the month you want to fly to Hawaii and current sale prices so you have an IDEA of what flight ticket prices will be from your city or state. Here s the steps to take in order to follow my cheap flight strategy :

In order to get a cheap flight to Hawaii, you need to know 1) when the best time to buy is and 2) where the best site to buy from is

My advice is always that *as soon* as you know you are going to be taking a trip to Hawaii, you want to start comparing prices. You need to get a baseline price in your mind a general price from where you want to fly so you have an idea of what prices are. this way, you will KNOW a good deal if you see one. You aren t guessing or flying blind pardon the pun.

So Step 1 is to head over to some flight comparison engines and see what current prices at several different airlines are from where you are to where you want to go.

I like expedia and kayak.com. Write down at least the two best prices you find.

Step 2 is to go to Hawaiian Airlines and see what their specials are. This is a good place to get Hawaii flights for cheap even to the outer islands like Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island.

They only fly from the west coast, so if you are flying from the east coast, this may not seem to help you, unless you find it more cost effective to get to the west coast and then start your trip.

BUT, Hawaiian airlines has some really crazy-low deals sometimes and who knows, it might be worth it for you to find your way to the west coast and then fly with Hawaiian.

This is a tid-bit of information that is going to help you build your case and KNOW that you are getting the best price available and the best price possible.

Step 3 is to watch these prices. check every day, as many times a day as you can.

Are prices changing at all? What you will probably notice, is that prices do fluctuate hour to hour, sometimes by as little as $10 and sometimes by as much as several hundred.

Step 4 is to head over to an airline price predictor and see what they say. Does the predictor say that prices are going to down, stay the same, or go up?

These predictors are not always right and you should not trust them with your life, but they are another piece in your price puzzle another tidbit of information about your specific price and another tool in your get-the-best-price toolbox.

Step 5 is to check out a few online travel agents and booking sites. Do they have any good deals that you could take advantage of. I ve seen companion flys free or companion flys for $50 deals at Pleasant Holidays before.

Could you imagine? If you could find something like that it could instantly knock $300 to $500 or more off your vacation price (if you are going with someone else).

I m not saying you ll be able to find something like this when you want to fly, but they do exist, so you might as well look for them.

Now, one thing you should be able to say at this point is that you know what the going rate to Hawaii is for the time period that you want to go.

Good, now you know what a good deal is and what a crappy price is.

Now, if you are brave, you may want to look into bidding on priceline or checking out Hotwire s deals.

There are always some catches, like if you bid at priceline you could leave anytime during the day, or you may not know what carrier you are flying on or your ticket may not be refundable, but if these risks or catches are acceptable to you, you may be able to find the deal of the century.

Timothy Ferriss, in the book The Four Hour Workweek recommends starting bidding at 50% of the lowest fare you can find and then bid up in $50 increments.

The people over at bidding for travel can probably help you with a good priceline strategy too.

Cheap flights to Honolulu used to be the easiest to get, but these days you can frequently find the cheapest flight prices to Maui which is great since it is such a popular vacation island, second only to Oahu. Kauai and the Big Island flights are generally more expensive, but sometimes you can get lucky.

All that s left to do is jump on the best deal you can find and enjoy Hawaii! Leave me a note I d love to hear how you did! Lisa

    France. Michelin’s recommendations

In France, people often say, everything ends up as a song. In the 1950s, while Edith Piaf was warbling about the skies of Paris, Charles Trenet was merrily singing the praises of the Nationale 7, that picturesque road so many French people took as they headed « down to the Mediterranean coast ».

These two legendary places, the city of lights and the Côte d’Azur. have attracted millions of visitors every year, making la Douce France the world’s top tourist destination. But let’s not forget about the diversity of this land anchored on the European continent and stretching out towards the Atlantic Ocean. « I think there is no other country in the world with so many contradictions as France » said Voltaire.

Indeed, what do the steep roofs in the North have in common with the terraced roofs of the South? And how does the windswept, legendary land of Brittany. so close to its Anglo-Saxon friends, compare with the colourful Basque Country reaching down towards Spain?

While visiting France you’ll learn about its one ocean, three seas and the eight countries and neighbouring principalities that have shaped its way of thinking without ever really jeopardizing its legendary « French chauvinism ». Whatever your destination, a host of delicious gastronomic treats await you in the country’s different regions, including many wines and cheeses. Another great reason to explore France from top to bottom!

But the fourth largest country in the world also has a lot of offer as a real-life—and often neglected—holiday destination. A land of immigrants from the outset, this emancipated child of Europe has produced its own unique civilisation. Before leaving on your trip, you will have to make some choices and take into consideration the long distances between places.

Indeed, what is there in common between Death Valley, the hottest desert in the United States at 122°, and the snow-capped peaks of Alaska. Or between the Latinos in Los Angeles and Boston Brahmins? Disneyland in Orlando and MoMa in New York.
