MSW Programs Online #masters #in #social #work, #msw #programs, #msw #degree,

A Master’s in Social Work (MSW) is one of the best degrees you can have for helping others and getting paid to do so.

Why complete an MSW program?

The BLS reports that MSW programs may be particularly helpful when it comes to obtaining advanced job opportunities or working in some areas such as in schools or health care, and it s required to become a licensed clinical social worker. MSW degrees generally take two years to complete, depending on class scheduling and student aptitude, and require the completion of on-the-job experience through internships or field education before graduation (, 2012 ). Whether working with disabled veterans in a group home, or foster children in need of unique services, students who gain this supervised experience should slowly build their understanding of how to best accomplish their professional social work goals.

MSW programs: What to expect?

General coursework in MSW programs might include research and practice, psychopathology, ethical foundations, child welfare and more. Some degree programs may offer concentrations such as child and family services, health services, and management and planning.

Upon completing their MSW, students can choose to pursue their Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) certification. Typically, the LCSW requires two years or 3,000 hours of supervised clinical hours beyond those already completed through an MSW program (, 2012 ). Other LCSW requirements could include passing a state-administered exam or one offered by the Association of Social Work Boards. and possibly having prior Licensed Social Worker (LSW) certification.

National career and salary outlook for social workers

The BLS projects employment for social workers could grow by up to 25 percent nationally between 2010 and 2020, which is better than the national average growth for all occupations (14 percent). Demand is predicted to be even higher in two social work fields: health care as well as mental health and substance abuse. According to the BLS. the national median salary in 2011 for child, family and school social workers was $40,680, with the top ten percent earning up to $70,050 in 2011 and the lowest 10 percent earning up to $26,190 nationally in 2011.

Those interested in learning more about the field, including new legislation, resources, and professional development, can look for further information through the American Clinical Social Work Association. the Association of Social Work Boards and the National Association of Social Workers. Detailed salary and employment data can be found through the BLS Occupational Employment Statistics program.

Online Doctorate Degree Programs #online #doctorate #degree #programs,online #doctorate #degree,online #doctoral

Online Doctorate Programs

CalSouthern’s Online Doctoral Degree Programs

CalSouthern’s Online Doctoral Degree Programs

You’ll find exceptional online doctorate programs in CalSouthern’s Schools of Business, Law and Psychology. Each offers an applied doctoral degree or a professional doctorate. Unlike academic doctorates (e.g. the PhD), applied or professional doctorates are less oriented toward research and scholarly publication, and more devoted to the advanced, practical application of theory in a professional setting.

The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) is an excellent option for business leaders looking to develop knowledge of the highest order in a particular business discipline, and to set themselves apart from other executives in a highly competitive workplace. It’s an extremely personalized and focused program. In fact, up to 25 percent of the program can be devoted to a doctoral project of your own selection and corresponding to your particular business interests and areas of expertise—it’s a great way to distinguish yourself as a leading expert in a specific area of interest.

The Juris Doctor (JD) is designed to provide students with the educational foundation and professional training to succeed as a practicing attorney in the state of California. In fact, once you earn your JD degree, you can be eligible to sit for the California Bar Exam. The California Southern University School of Law is registered as an unaccredited correspondence law school with the Committee of Bar Examiners (CBE) of the State Bar of California. This allows graduates of the JD program who have complied with Title 4, Division 1 of the Rules of the State Bar of California (Admissions Rules) to sit for the California Bar Exam.

The CBE requires CalSouthern to refer all current and prospective JD students, as well as applicants, to and current students to required disclosures. Please click here to review the disclosures.

The Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) is the online doctoral degree program in CalSouthern’s School of Behavioral Sciences. Unlike the research-intensive PhD, the PsyD is far more clinically focused. Emphasizing counseling and therapy, the PsyD can prepare learners for virtually any position in any organizational hierarchy within the field of psychology. It can also lead to a career in academics, particularly if the program is clinically focused.

For those looking to practice as a licensed clinical psychologist, CalSouthern’s PsyD meets the educational requirements for licensure in the state of California and numerous other states. (Since states’ policies are subject to change and/or dependent upon the circumstances of each case, each student must confirm with the appropriate regulatory body that CalSouthern’s degree will be accepted in a particular state. For additional information about the PsyD and state licensure, click here .)

Regardless of your area of interest—be it business, law or psychology—CalSouthern offers an online doctoral degree program that is truly exceptional. It’s CalSouthern’s collegial and responsive community of personalized support that distinguishes the university from its peers. It’s the CalSouthern difference and it’ll be apparent from the moment you speak with any of our dedicated education professionals. We urge you to experience it for yourself.

Evening Nursing Programs Overview #lpn #night #classes, #evening #nursing #programs

Evening Nursing Programs Overview

Essential Information

Evening nursing programs provide similar coursework to full-time day programs, but take longer to complete because class times are shorter. Associate’s degree programs feature clinical experiences and coursework that prepare students to pursue registered nurse (RN) licensure and work as RNs. Although these programs require a high schol diploma or its equivalent, they don’t require previous health care work experience, and students learn to help doctors diagnose and treat illnesses, take patients’ vital signs and offer health care advice.

Professionals who already work as RNs can enroll in an evening RN-BSN program to earn a bachelor’s degree. In addition to possessing knowledge of nursing theories and practices, incoming students need strong skills in math, communication and the physical sciences. These programs cover advanced nursing topics, including pathophysiology, health assessment and nursing management. Students participate in hands-on simulations and may pursue advanced nursing positions upon graduation. Working RNs may also pursue an RN-MSN degree, or master’s degree, which usually includes advanced health care and business coursework. This kind of evening program is designed for RNs who want to become managers or nurse practitioners. It is generally required that MSN applicants have long-term work experience as an RN and must submit letters of recommendation, copies of their college transcripts and scores from the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE).Clinical experience is a requirement for all levels of this qualification.

Associate’s Degree in Nursing

Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and Associate Degree in Nursing programs that are offered in the evening allow students to attend classroom lectures and gain clinical experience outside of regular working hours. Students in evening ASN or ADN programs learn about the practical skills and theoretical foundations of nursing, including medical diagnoses, patient care and vital sign measurement. They must also receive licensure before they can begin working in a medical setting.

The classes in evening ASN or ADN programs emphasize topics in the natural sciences, social sciences and medicine. Students learn to measure patients’ pulse and blood pressure, assist doctors in diagnosis and treatment, give patients wellness information and assess general health. The topics below are usually covered:

  • Human anatomy and physiology
  • Pharmacology
  • Nursing ethics
  • Community health education
  • Pediatric care

Evening RN-to-BSN Degree

RN-to-BSN programs are designed for registered nurses who want to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Those who complete an RN-to-BSN program can earn their BSN in a shorter time frame than those who earn a BSN without any previous experience. Many programs offer classes in the evening and on weekends to accommodate students’ work schedules. RN-to-BSN programs cover advanced topics in nursing, as well general educational subjects. Students usually complete in-depth, hands-on simulations.

What are Self-Paced Online Degree Programs? #self #paced #mba, #what #are

What Are Self-Paced Online Degree Programs?

Self-paced online degree programs allow students to set their own academic schedules, while traditional online programs typically follow an academic schedule set by the school. That’s why a self-paced program might appeal to working professionals and others who need flexibility when taking classes. Read on to learn about these programs.

Self-Paced Online Degree Programs Overview

Self-paced online degree programs are designed for students who may find full-time, on-campus programs hard to fit into their busy schedules. You can find online undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a large number of disciplines. Lately, online degree programs have started being offered from a variety of educational institutions, such as two-year technical and community colleges, as well as four-year universities. A few of the basic attributes of self-paced online degree programs include the ability to study at one’s own pace and the online delivery method.

Important Facts About Self-Paced Programs

Undergraduate and graduate certificates, bachelor’s and master’s degrees

Engineering, computer science, business administration, human resources management, global studies and others

Some programs require brief in-person residencies

Self-Paced Progress

Unlike traditional university programs, self-paced online programs give students the flexibility to make their own schedules with regard to lessons and class assignments. Working professionals can benefit from self-paced programs because the pursuit of an education follows their own time schedule. Students can study in the evenings, on weekends or whenever their schedule permits. Most programs allow students to work on one or more courses simultaneously. While some programs have certain completion time limits, such as 6- or 12-week terms for instance, others may be more flexible.

Online Coursework and Interaction

One of the benefits of a degree program offered online is the ability to complete coursework via the Internet. A personal computer and Internet connection is all that’s required to easily access class materials. This includes study guides, exams and supplemental materials. Students can also use their computers to interact with fellow students and faculty via email or online forums. Such Internet communication makes it possible for students to ask questions and engage in a dialogue, just as they would in traditional, on-campus courses. Contemporary online teaching methods include video tutorials, live chats, online quizzes and online classroom discussions.

Other Benefits

Some self-paced online degree programs allow you to pay as you go and only pay for the courses you’re currently taking. Since you’re typically charged by the course at the time of enrollment, you have greater flexibility in arranging your education in accordance with financial demands. Also, because online degree programs are often extensions of on-campus programs, the same professors who teach on-campus courses often teach the online sessions. And, these courses often include the same texts and learning materials.

Discount Health Care Programs Resource Page #discount, #health, #care, #programs, #tdlr,

Discount Health Care Programs Resource Page

Discount health care programs are not insurance. The discount programs typically sell cards that provide members with discounts for health care services from participating physicians and providers. The program member is responsible for paying the full discounted cost of the medical treatment. The programs can provide a value to consumers who do not have health insurance by helping to reduce the out-of pocket cost of health care.

Discount health care programs are required to be registered to sell their programs in the state. Check a company’s license status by visiting the Discount Health Care Program Operator and Marketer Listings page. Consumers should also make sure their doctors, dentists, and other health care providers accept the program and offer discounts before buying a discount health care program.

Help Stop Medical Discount Card Fraud

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) needs your help in halting a surge in the fraudulent marketing of medical discount cards. In these schemes, marketers typically represent that consumers will receive low-cost health insurance or medical benefits. In reality, consumers do not receive health insurance or any meaningful medical benefits. Instead, they receive a card that purports to provide discounted rates with medical providers. Consumers find that the promised discounted rates are illusory.

These bogus medical discount programs are marketed to consumers in a variety of ways, including illegal recorded telephone calls (robocalls), unsolicited faxes, radio and television ads, and web sites. Regardless of the medium, the ads often target seniors, claiming that the discount cards will supplement Medicare.

The FTC, which is the federal government’s consumer protection agency, brings federal court law enforcement actions to stop fraud and obtain refunds for consumers. If you have information about a medical discount card scheme, or learn of a victim of such a scheme, call the FTC at 1-877-382-4357 .

Prevent Insurance Fraud

Insurance fraud is a crime. If you believe you’ve been a target of insurance fraud or you become aware of a fraud operation, report it to the TDI Fraud Unit online or by calling the Consumer Help Line.

Associate Degree in Nursing: Programs, Jobs, Scholarships, and more #online #associate

Online Resource to Associate Degrees in Nursing

AssociatesInnNrsing is full of information and guides to getting your associates degree in nursing. Online associate degrees in nursing are offered by very few schools in the country. However, beginning a career in nursing does not always require an associate degree specific to nursing. Taking and passing the NCLEX exam is a key component, but a degree in healthcare can help prepare you.

If you’re interested in becoming a medical assistant, you’ll need the proper education to do so. Earning an associate degree in medical assisting is typically your best bet for starting a career in this field. This degree provides the specialized training necessary to qualify for employment. Many schools now offer this degree online, making it as convenient as possible to fulfill your course requirements.

Medical Assisting (AS)

Kaplan University Kaplan University is among the nation s largest schools with over 70 campuses across the country and over 50,000 students enrolled. Kaplan offers many associate programs in healthcare online in addition to bachelor s and master s degree. Kaplan offers an Associate of Science in Medical Assisting .

Entry-Level Nursing Degrees

An associate degree in nursing is an entry-level degree in the medical/healthcare industry. Many students elect to earn an associate degree before pursuing a bachelor’s in order to determine if the healthcare industry is right for them. An associate degree takes only two years or less to complete and gives students an opportunity to explore various career paths and identify your interests.

An associate in nursing or an associate degree in medical assisting requires students to learn the appropriate terminology and skills necessary to use any patient billing software program and to assist nurses with a variety of patient care skills. If you think working in this field is the right career move for you, keep reading to learn more about what it takes to acquire the education and training necessary to obtain employment and ensure success on the job.

What is Medical Assisting?

One type of entry-level degree in nursing is an associate degree in medical assisting, often referred to as an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in medical assisting. This degree typically teaches the following career skills:

  • How to assist physicians and nurses with patient care, scheduling, and examinations.
  • How to perform routine laboratory tests.
  • How to record vital signs and manage patient records.
  • How to communicate with patients, doctors, and other medical personnel.

Other competencies may also include, according to O*Net OnLine. the following tasks:

  • Record patients medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians instructions to patients.

Depending on the school and program, students may receive certification preparation. In order to work as a medical assistant, you’ll likely need to take and pass the CMA (AMMA) examination. This exam is often required by employers; therefore, you need to find a program that will prepare you to take and pass this test.

In order to pass this test, make sure the program you choose covers the following topics :

  • Human anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Medical terminology
  • Keyboarding and computer applications
  • Recordkeeping and accounting
  • Coding and insurance processing
  • Laboratory techniques
  • Clinical and diagnostic procedures
  • Pharmacology
  • Medication administration
  • First aid
  • Office practices
  • Patient relations
  • Medical law and ethics

The CMA exam ensures that medical assistant graduates are prepared to enter the workforce. Therefore, it’s imperative that you choose a school that offers such training. If you’re unsure, contact your school of interest and speak to a representative to learn as much as possible about the courses offered and whether you specific training is provided to pass the CMA exam.

LPN Programs

Another entry-level program includes the LPN degree. This program prepares graduates to work as a licensed practical nurse, or an LPN. A licensed practical nurse is a registered nurse certified in basic patient care. LPN programs are typically two-year, associate degree programs that can be completed either online or in a traditional classroom format. In order to work as an LPN, you’ll need to complete an accredited degree program as well as pass the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCLEX-PN) exam, which candidates have to pass to obtain their license.

An LPN performs many of the same tasks of a medical assistant, but a medical assistant may not be a registered nurse. Each state has its own licensure and employment requirements. Many LPN programs are also offered online, or in a hybrid format that includes both on-site and in traditional classrooms. This makes it easier to continue working or fulfill other obligations while pursuing your degree.

By becoming an LPN, you ll be in a good position to continue your education in the healthcare industry. You ll have the background and skill set to succeed in a bachelor s degree program, and possibly a master s degree program, depending on your career goals. As with any program, you want to ensure the program is accredited and offers the courses needed to pass all certification and licensure exams. Check out our list of programs to get a head start on your education and career goals.

Looking for a nursing degree?

Fill out this short form below, and we’ll help match you to an accredited college program that suits your interests, whether online- or campus-based.

Buffalo Valley, Inc #buffalo #valley, #inc. #drug # # #alcohol #rehab

Welcome to Buffalo Valley

Buffalo Valley has been providing affordable alcohol/substance abuse treatment to patients in need for about 30 years now. Of those 30 years, I have had the privilege of directing that treatment for over 18 years. I am happy to say, more than 1,200 patients a year find their way to our doors. I am even happier to report that half of those are still sober a year later.

In the last 10 years our treatment modality has included job training, job placement assistance, GED training, life skills training, case management, housing and, of course, state of the art counseling to those most in need.

14 years ago, recognizing the great need for housing, we started another division in BVI called Valley Housing. Valley Housing has been very successful in offering affordable housing across middle Tennessee.

Graduate programs for industrial organizational psychology #graduate #programs #for #industrial #organizational

M.S. Industrial/Organizational Program

The Master of Science Degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology provides a comprehensive slate of I/O-specific courses designed to prepare students for immediate entry into careers in applied settings. Academic coursework is supplemented with an applied externship completed for academic credit. The program requirements provide excellent preparation for those interested in pursuing a Ph.D. upon completion of the MS. The course of study also includes a strong, five-course quantitative sequence in research methodology, statistics, and measurement. I/O students are expected to become competent in theory, research, and application of psychology as each relates to human behavior in private and public organizations.

The primary objective of the industrial/organizational program is to provide students with the skills to apply the principles and methods of psychology to organizations, public and private, and to settings where people are engaged in work. To be successful in this application, the graduate must have developed knowledge and appreciation of psychological theory and research as they apply to organizations and people at work, and mastery of the measurement and research technologies which are commonly used in the discipline.

Externship Program

The externship program is currently under the direction of Dr. Ken Shultz. The standard externship experience is at least half-time work over a three-month period. It is typically completed during the summer after the first year’s coursework. Southern California’s urban areas provide a wealth of opportunities for hands-on experience. Students have completed externships with such organizations as Sempra (Southern California Gas Company), The Los Angeles Unified School District, the Betty Ford Center, Edison International, and Fleetwood Enterprises. We believe the externship experience is a major contributing factor to the marketability of our graduating students.

Note. The forms listed above require Microsoft Word to view. If you need the reader, you can the Microsoft Word Viewer for free.

Student Programs

Dr. Mark Agars is the current faculty sponsor of the I/O student group “Students Promoting Industrial/Organizational Psychology” (SPI/OP). SPI/OP hosts guest speaker presentations on compelling themes in human resource management. Through committee work, newsletter contributions, and interaction with business student organizations, active members can develop connections with regional business organizations and can become a part of the SPI/OP network of future I/O professionals.

Selected I/O students also contribute their time and energies to a mentoring program for new undergraduate students. Dr. Agars is the current director of our student mentoring program. Upon selection, entering students are assigned to a second-year student who can provide information and advice.

  • Entry terms: Fall only
  • Course Requirements: 12 (Organized around three strands)
  • Typical Course Load: Fall: 3; Spring: 3
  • Important Milestones: Qualifying Examination; Preliminary Examination

The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program prepares students to become instructional leaders in public and non-public schools, state agencies, and new entrepreneurial ventures. Students gain a deep understanding of the context of American education from anthropological, historical, and sociological perspectives, and of the central elements of instructional, organizational, public, and evidenced-based leadership. Students develop a variety of qualitative and quantitative analytical skills that are required to identify, understand, and assess evidence on educational problems.

Through their coursework, students come to understand the dynamics of change, to appreciate the importance of resistance, and to value the human side of all educational enterprises. They draw from all this knowledge to wrestle with the complexities involved in promoting the ongoing transformation of public and non-public educational organizations. Students seeking principal certification have the option of enrolling in the School Leadership Program for Principal Certification, a five-course program, as part of their doctoral work.

Ed.D. applicants are expected to have several years of experience in educational practice. Incoming students are also expected to hold a master’s degree in a relevant field prior to enrolling.

Students organize their coursework and experiences around three areas or strands – Content and Conceptualization, Inquiry and Investigation, and Professional Experiences – and, within this, take a minimum of 12 courses. These include a set of core courses, research methods courses, specialization courses, and electives. All Ed.D. students take part in courses and seminars specifically designed for Ed.D. students across GSE.

The Ed.D. program has a strong commitment to educational practice and to preparing scholar-practitioners. Students develop a program of study in consultation with an advisor. The program is designed to draw together course work, research apprenticeship, and other professional academic activities to build a complete professional program that is tailored to individual students’ interests and needs.

Penn GSE also offers the Midcareer Doctoral Program in Education Leadership for students who are interested in an executive style program.

Program of Study

Core Courses

Course descriptions for TLL are available here

Registration: Full-time students enroll in 3 course units (CUs) each semester for the first two years. Full-time Ed.D. students are expected to be in residence and participate in practicum activities, courses, and other academic experiences throughout the first two years. Part-time students must complete a residency requirement that involves taking at least four courses in two consecutive semesters.

Research Apprenticeship Course (RAC): The RAC is part of the Professional Experiences strand and is designed to assist doctoral students in developing, conducting, and presenting on their own original research. The course focuses on students’ research interests and requires participation in the scheduling of activities, presentations, and directing part of the RAC agenda as it pertains to the collective needs of the group. Students from the different stages of the doctoral program will serve as mentors to one another, with faculty oversight. Students participate in the RAC beginning in the spring of their first year and continue participation until completion of their dissertation.

Prerequisites/Requirements for Admission: Master’s degree and experience in educational practice

Course Requirements

Content and Conceptualization strand (minimum):

  • 3 core courses in Content/Conceptualization:
    • EDUC 726 (Foundations of Teaching and Learning); EDUC 727 (Education, Culture, and Society); and one course in Educational Leadership
  • A minimum of three electives in Content/Conceptualization

Inquiry and Investigation strand (minimum):

  • 3 core courses in Inquiry/Investigation:
    • EDUC 667 (Introductory Statistics for Educational Research); EDUC 682 (Qualitative Modes of Inquiry); EDUC 668 (Practitioner Inquiry)
  • 1 course in advanced research methodology

Professional Experiences strand (minimum):

  • EDUC 621 (Doctoral Proseminar)
  • Research Apprenticeship Course (RAC) – On-going professional experience from second semester of first year until graduation

Annual Self-Evaluation: Each year, doctoral students complete a Professional Self-evaluation that is used as part of the ongoing evaluation and planning process. Students are introduced to the evaluation form in the proseminar and will work on it in the spring RAC. The deadline for the Professional Self-evaluation deadline falls in mid-autumn or mid-spring. Students submit their Professional Self-evaluation to the Division Manager and to their advisor.

Qualifying Examination: The Qualifying Examination is taken by all doctoral students, most often at the end of the first year. Passing this exam is an important step in being admitted to program candidacy. In order to take the qualifying exam, students need to have completed EDUC 621 (Doctoral Proseminar); EDUC 726 (formerly EDUC 664) (Doctoral Foundations of Teaching and Learning); EDUC 727 (formerly EDUC 646) (Education, Culture, and Society); 1 RAC; and 1 research methods course.

Program Candidacy: Students are assessed for program candidacy after successfully completing EDUC 621, EDUC 726 (formerly EDUC 664), EDUC 727 (formerly EDUC 646), 1 RAC, and 1 research methods course, and passing the Qualifying Examination. Students must be in good academic standing to receive program candidacy.

Preliminary Examination: The Preliminary Examination is taken after students have completed all courses and before beginning work on their dissertation. Passing the Preliminary Exam allows students to be admitted to doctoral candidacy. Students may submit a Preliminary Exam from the start of the fall semester through April 1. Students may obtain a description of the Preliminary Exam from the Division Coordinator.

Dissertation: To complete the Ed.D. students must design and undertake an original research study under the direction of a student-selected dissertation committee. Students should see GSE and Penn-wide policies, listed on the website, and speak with their advisor about the requirements of the dissertation.

Paralegal Schools – Careers #post #baccalaureate #paralegal #programs

How to Become a Paralegal: Paralegal Schools & Careers

The paralegal profession is competitive and exciting with a wide range of careers and specific fields from which to choose. Education and training requirements vary by region, field, and between companies, but usually involve a minimum of two years of post-secondary study, sometimes culminating in an associate degree, as well as experience. Students can also earn certifications, a bachelor’s degree and even a master’s degree in paralegal studies.

This comprehensive guide includes information and data on education and training as well as key facts about salaries, job prospects and more.

What Does a Paralegal Do?

Paralegal Career Basics

Many paralegals work full-time in private firms, government agencies or corporate legal offices. They handle a broad range of administrative and research duties under the supervision of attorneys. For example, during the course of a day, they may organize and maintain legal files or draft documents, deliver or retrieve documents from the courthouse and conduct intensive legal research in preparation for court. Paralegals also investigate the background facts of cases, organize evidence and documents for attorneys to review, accompany lawyers to court, and manage schedules with witnesses and experts. Specific responsibilities can vary greatly, depending on the department, office or firm in which a paralegal works. Those who work for large firms might handle only one phase of a case, while those in smaller firms could work a case from beginning to end.

Paralegal Career In-Depth

Much like lawyers, paralegals can choose to specialize in a certain type of law, which can determine the actual tasks they will spend most of their time doing. Criminal law paralegals, for example, may prepare clients for trial, interview witnesses, research legal precedents pertinent to a case, and must have a wide knowledge of criminal legal issues.

Paralegals working in a corporate setting will assist in legal business transactions for companies, compose employee contracts, prepare financial reports and maintain benefit plans. Immigration paralegals typically work for government organizations, but can also be employed by a firm. They obtain foreign documents, research immigration case laws, prepare paperwork for citizenship and deportation, and handle client concerns. Specialists in labor law review and prepare contracts between companies and their employees, handle litigation from disputes in the workplace, and help to represent businesses or workers.

Paralegal Salaries

Paralegals work full-time and earned a median wage of $46,990 in 2012, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The top 10 percent of paralegal jobs pay $75,410 or more per year. Those who work for larger firms or in larger cities tend to earn more than paralegals who work for small firms. The highest annual wages were found in the federal government, followed by finance and insurance, then local governments.

Academic Programs #uncg #phd #programs

Academic Programs

Beginning in the summer of 2016 Columbia Nursing introduced an innovative, accelerated curriculum for non-nurse college graduates. Our new fifteen-month Masters Direct Entry (MDE) program prepares students to enter the nursing profession as masters-credentialed registered nurses with a focus on care coordination. Those graduating from the MDE program possess the ability provide a high level of care throughout a variety of healthcare settings. Students are able to move from this program directly into one of the two doctoral programs, the clinical Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP), or the research-based Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD).

The Master of Science degree advances nursing competence by extending and deepening knowledge within a specific clinical specialty. The program prepares students to manage and negotiate healthcare delivery systems, provide culturally sensitive care, cultivate the nurse/patient relationship, as well as, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate personalized patient education and coaching interventions. This program will be replaced by the post-bachelor’s DNP program starting in June 2017 for all specialties except Anesthesia.

Post-Bachelor’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (post-BS DNP) Programs

Beginning in the summer of 2017, Columbia Nursing will introduce the Post-Bachelor’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program for registered nurses interested in advanced practice. The Post-BS DNP is a 3 year, full-time program that includes a clinical residency. This program prepares students as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) in an area of specialty. Students graduate with the knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary for comprehensive care with patients across sites and over time, while also serving as leaders, educators, and innovators in the profession.

Post-Master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (post-MS DNP) Programs

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program prepares nurse clinicians to conduct complex diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, make use of sophisticated informatics and decision-making technology, and assimilate in-depth knowledge of the biophysical, psychosocial, behavioral, and clinical sciences. In addition, the DNP program prepares nurses with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for fully accountable comprehensive care with patients across sites and over time. With the increasing scope of clinical scholarship in nursing and the growth of scientific knowledge in the discipline, doctoral level education is required for independent practice.

The PhD program is a research-intensive curriculum that prepares nurse scholars to conduct research independently and as part of interdisciplinary teams. The program provides students with an understanding of the philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of nursing science, and a strong foundation in research methods (design, statistics, measurement) for clinical, translational and health services research.

The sub-specialty programs are available to current students enrolled in an MS or DNP program.

MSN Programs Online – Master of Science in Nursing #nursing #programs

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Programs

If you a Registered Nurse (RN) holding an Associate s or Bachelor s degree seeking to advance your career by becoming an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or by moving into a Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, Nurse Executive, or Nurse Leader role in professional nursing practice and patient-centered healthcare delivery then pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree is a logical next step. An MSN degree is also a logical stepping stone if you plan to later pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing.

The practice of nursing is ever changing as the healthcare needs of various populations and the healthcare delivery systems used to administer care continue to evolve. As a result, graduate nursing programs today teach nurses to employ innovative interdisciplinary approaches to solving various health problems. Nurses learn to promote health by working effectively with other disciplines and community services.

Campus, Online, and Hybrid MSN Programs

Colleges and universities offering graduate degrees in nursing deliver their programs in a variety of formats. There are three main delivery methods: fully campus-based, fully online, and hybrids. Often times, a given school offers multiple delivery methods to students. They do this primarily to accommodate the students diverse scheduling flexibility needs since many who are seeking an MSN are already employed at least part-time, if not full-time, as a Registered Nurse.

There are two major components required when earning a nursing Master s degree: the coursework and clinical hours. How these two components are delivered to graduate students can vary widely between schools. So you will want to get clarification on the delivery methods offered by each school of interest to you.

It is rare today to find fully campus-based graduate nursing programs where all coursework and clinical hours must be obtained on campus, though programs leading to certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist are often, if not always, campus-based. It was once rare to find fully online programs as well, though these programs are becoming more common. The vast majority of MSN programs available today utilize a hybrid delivery model where the majority of coursework can be completed online; however, students are still required to visit the college or university s campus infrequently for the completion of certain requirements.

The campus visits required by hybrid programs are often limited to once or twice per semester. Some programs may require visits once per month or even more often. Some programs may offer the required visits on weekends. Others may require them on weekdays. Some visits may be single day visits while others might require 2 or 3 consecutive days, depending on the requirement being fulfilled. These are all questions that you will want clarified when researching potential programs.

Clinical Hours for a Masters in Nursing

Graduate students working toward their Master of Science in Nursing are typically required to complete a significant number of hours working in a clinical setting. Depending on the school and program in question, it is not uncommon for students to be required to complete as many as 500 or 700 hours of clinical work. Certain programs like those leading to certification as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist might require far more hours of clinical work.

Where a student s clinical hours can be completed might also vary widely from program to program. Some programs allow students to complete their clinical hours in any state where they are licensed as an RN. Others might require the student to be licensed as an RN and complete that work in the same state (or neighboring state) as where the college or university is located. This is another item for which you will want to gain clarification when researching potential programs.

Before starting your clinical hours, you will choose clinical preceptors to supervise your work. Preceptors typically have to be approved by the school offering the program. Students are often allowed to perform their clinicals in their own workplace unless the course for which they are performing the clinical work also requires that it be done in a particular type of clinical setting.

Opportunities for MSN Graduates

There are many reasons students might seek an advanced degree in nursing. But regardless of the track being pursued, MSN degree holders could be prepared for great career opportunities in clinical nursing.

Best Luxury Travel Affiliate Programs For 2014 #travel #insurance #comparison #sites

Best Luxury Travel Affiliate Programs 2014

09 May Best Luxury Travel Affiliate Programs 2014

Affiliate marketing in the luxury industry has been heating up in 2014 and while it s nothing new to the scene, the digital landscape now has a lot more potential customers than ever before. Since I come from an affiliate background, I thought I d share some of the top programs that have been working for me here in 2014 and hopefully help grow your online income in the coming years.

Bear in mind that it s not as easy as slapping up a microsite and ranking to make money; snagging a high net worth individual takes work as well as a site that has brand trust of its own. Finding the right programs that actually have staff with affiliate knowledge and know-how is also hard, so this is why I decided to put this list together. I will update it yearly but also encourage our readers both old and new to leave their trusted favorites in the comments below.

Now on to the list

There s no bigger name in online private jet bookings than, and that is largely due to their well-organized site, huge private jet/empty-leg flight database, and of course their popular affiliate program. They use a classic referral system, where each booking made via a lead to their site scores you a commission. If you re running referral sites you naturally want to partner up with sites that offer great services at great prices because your visitors are more likely to actually book with them, and this is definitely one of those sites.

Sandals Resorts

When it comes to making money off of all-inclusive resorts, the Sandals Resorts Affiliate Program is one of the best there is. Sandals is a name that everybody knows and trusts, and they ve got enough locations to interest just about anybody heading to the tropics. Their commissions start at 4% and can go up depending on how much business you can drum up for them. Best of all, they use 90-day cookies so if any visitors find them through you, then come back to actually book two months later, you ll still get the money you deserve as the original referrer.

Luxury Link

As we all know, the luxury travel market is booming these days, and you can definitely get a piece of that action by partnering with Luxury Link . Luxury Link is where people of means go to find truly exquisite vacation destinations, from cruise ships and 5-star resorts to private sun-soaked villas and ancient castles. Their commissions range from 4-6%, which can quickly add up when you re discussing high-end accommodations that can easily cost hundreds of dollars per night. They use 60-day cookies, so while it s not quite as long as Sandals, they ll still help you score those delayed commissions.

Boat Bookings

Yachts are another popular way for the wealthy crowd to enjoy their travel time these days, and on that front there is no better choice than the Yacht Charter Affiliate Program. Since Boat Bookings is itself a sort of referral program that sends leads to yacht companies and owners, they actually split their own commissions with you every time someone you send books a yacht through them. Since each yacht company has its own commission rates, your earnings will vary from booking to booking. The smartest move here would be to find the individual yachts with the highest commission rates, and promote them over others to maximize your earnings.

Amazon has without a doubt the world s most popular affiliate program. and I know of some affiliate sites that make literally 100% of their earnings through it. For the luxury market, Amazon has so much to offer: wristwatches, jewelry, designer clothing even gourmet food! Amazon s commissions range from 1-10% on most products, but the nice thing is that not only do you get commissions from the products you advertise, but also from any product that the shopper buys alongside it in the same transaction. If the shopper buys a few luxury jewelry pieces at once, you ll be earning serious money for minimal effort on your part And that s what affiliate marketing is all about if it s done right.

We will be adding to this list over the course of the year so bookmark it and check back. I ll be experimenting with a few new programs and I m not ready to divulge that quite yet At least not until my site is dominating the niche first.

Christian Alcoholism – Christian Drug – Alcohol Treatment #christian #rehab, #christian-based

Christian alcoholism is a condition when a Christian alcoholism sufferer becomes physically dependent on alcohol. Christian alcoholism requires more than just faith in God to beat it. Faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation and cornerstone to recovery from Christian alcoholism but action must be taken to truly take advantage of His guiding influence. Spencer Recovery Centers treats Christian alcoholism by encouraging Christian growth. The 12 step recovery process is utilized as is individual and group counseling incorporating Jesus Christ has our Higher Power. Call us today if you are committed to recovering from Christian alcoholism and reconciling your relationship to God, your family and loved ones.

Christian alcoholism is a very painful disease because if often includes the shame and guilt of hiding it from the church. At the very least the guilt of acting on sinful thoughts and compulsions can be a heavy burden for the Christian alcoholism sufferer. Proper treatment for Christian alcoholism is a focus on accepting that Jesus Christ can do for you what you could not do for yourself. Often you or a loved one makes a pledge to never drink again or cut down drinking only to be drunk again the next day or soon after. How does this happen? Perhaps you feel competent at work and feel you live your life by Christian principles yet in this one area you are totally helpless.

The bible tells the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15. This boy left his fathers house with the money his father had given him only to waste it away on wild living. He thought he was in control, that he knew what he was doing but soon found himself working for a farmer feeding pigs. He had a moment of clarity that his choices and behaviors had brought him down and he began to head home.

So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long distance away, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. His son said to him ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.’
(Luke 15:20-21)

This classic lesson shows that if we can swallow our pride, have some humility and begin to take proper action that God will not make too tough a time for us. In fact he will meet us half way and take us back into his house and restore our life.

If you can recognize that your drinking has become chronic and compulsive there is still hope. That you see that you are killing yourself and that your problems are becoming worse and worse because of your drinking, this admission is a humble beginning. Please take this moment of clarity and call us for help with your Christian alcoholism.

Spencer Recovery Centers have been treating alcoholism for more than a decade and with facilities across the United States, we have a program that is right for you.
