Official Photos and Info: Lexus UX Concept – News – Car

Lexus UX Concept: Preview to the Smallest Lexus SUV

With countless software companies proclaiming they know how to build better cars, we were relieved to find Lexus has built an actual car rather than a user experience, which is what UX stands for in the tech community. Instead, the Lexus UX concept is our first good look at the luxury brand s subcompact crossover that will join the growing fray of shrunken, premium SUVs that includes the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Infiniti QX30.

Compared with the smallest Lexus crossover today, the NX. the UX is 9.1 inches stubbier, 5.0 inches lower, 1.2 inches wider, and sports a 0.8 inch tighter wheelbase. Crafted by the company s French design center, the exterior appears conventional only because Lexus has pre-conditioned us with ever-crazier slits, zigzags, spindles, and other exaggerated surface textures across its entire lineup. Just as how the Oxford English Dictionary adds trendy words each year, the UX applies subtle changes to the L-finesse design language that are as much YOLO as they are practical.

The twisted grille is toothier and more three-dimensional, with the L badge serving as a kind of magnet for dozens of skewed V-marks converging toward it. The L-shaped daytime running lamps seamlessly connect to thin headlights, while vertical air vents glow imposingly beneath. Intricate, sprocket-like 21-inch wheels poke from oversize U-shaped fender extensions that break up the otherwise tall body; each of the wheels 18 spokes appears to fade into the tire sidewalls, a clever visual trick that recalls airless tires. Arching fenders rise far above the creased hood and direct the eye toward the slim tail, where jagged LED taillamps poke out almost past the bumper. Lexus notes that the roof rails, A-pillars, and side-view camera housings form one continuous line, although we re more impressed with the A-pillar transparency and their unequal-length fins that trace up to the roof like mini staircases. (For the record, Volvo introduced transparent A-pillars on the SCC concept in 2001, and the idea has since gone nowhere.)

Yet with all this fanfare, the UX is proportioned more like a modern Isuzu VehiCROSS than the silly, space-inefficient four-door coupe look affixed to every German designer s desk. From the side, there s some hint of the Range Rover Evoque with its minimized greenhouse, and what glass peeks through the purple body is electrochromic, an expensive (and Magic, in Mercedes nomenclature) method of tinting windows. The impossibly small rear doors also suggest Lexus could be whipping up both two- and four-door versions of the UX, perhaps to battle similar Evoque models. Another two-door, especially one that affords some rear headroom, would be welcome in this segment.

Inside, the UX introduces a new kind of user experience. While it wouldn t seem comfortable to sit on stretched rubber bands, Lexus claims this flexible, open arrangement (called the Kinetic Seat ) better contours to the pelvis and torso and helps reduce head motions while driving. For what it s worth, the rear seat in a light cream color to offset the dark violet seats up front is a conventional bench.

Aside from the see-through A-pillars and side-view camera displays sitting flush with the door panels, the real excitement comes from holograms, or at least displays designed to resemble holograms. The instrument panel is made to look deeper and farther away than it really is. The same effect applies to the central infotainment display, which has been reconfigured using carousel-style menus. More screens sit under a covered center console with touch-capacitive buttons, along with what we can only hope is a more intuitive touchpad than Lexus uses today to operate the main screen functions. A second touchpad sits on the front passenger s door armrest. And if the UX interior s bisecting lines and holograms become too overwhelming, the passenger can detach a wireless speaker from the dash and run off into the real world for a break from it all.

As for what motivates the UX, Lexus offers no clues. Earlier this year, the company trademarked several alphanumeric model designations UX200, UX250, and UX250h so we can only assume the production car will carry over the NX s 2.0-liter four-cylinder and hybrid-electric powertrains. If you re imagining a chopped-down NX without this concept s excessive fripperies, you re probably not far off. And neither is Lexus, which would like to dominate the sales charts in yet another luxury-SUV segment as soon as possible.

Displaying File Comments in (Properties – Details) with Excel VBA #dim,

#

Thread: Displaying File ‘Comments’ in (Properties Details) with Excel VBA

I am having some issues finding a way to tell excel to pull Comments and Tags from files. I pulled the following code from another source:

I have been using it to get the Name, Size, Type, and relevant Dates associated with files in a folder. However, this doesn’t seem to work with finding Comments, Tags, etc.

I have found functions that are used to pull Comments and Tags from files but haven’t been able to incorporate them in to the code I already have. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could show me how to do this.

Thank you all in advance. Help is much appreciated.

Re: Displaying File ‘Comments’ in (Properties Details) with Excel VBA

The attached file will show you how to:

a) Display all known file Attribute number designations in Column A.

b) Display the Filename in Column B. the Attribute Name in Column C and the Attribute value for each file in Column D.

btw. this is from code i found in about 3 seconds via google (not kidding. it was 3rd link on the first page..). the key google search term being:

excel + Scripting.File + file attributes + vba

Google is your friend

Note: Just change the following line to reference a filepath on your PC.

Also. just noticed in your code. you can shorten this..

to be just this. (replace YourSheetName with your actual sheet..)

Attached Files. REMINDER! OzGrid accepts no responsibility for ANY adverse effects as a result from downloading attached files. ALWAYS run an up-to-date virus scan and disable macros.

Re: Displaying File ‘Comments’ in (Properties Details) with Excel VBA

Hello, I have tried the code that I was provided and it works wonderfully when obtaining the Comments from files!

However, I would like to integrate the code with my original code on the first post so that the comments appear in line with the data that the first code gathers.

I am having trouble doing this because both codes call different application objects (not quite sure if thats what they are called), oShell and scripting.filesystemobject and the variables from each code depend on these objects. If someone could tell me how I can use these two codes in unison I would be grateful.

Thank you again!

Thank you for your answer! unfortunately I have been very busy this week and have been unable to try this out yet. I will get back o you promptly as soon as I do.

Gordon Ramsay travels to India in TLC’s new show

MUMBAI: Lifestyle channel TLC is all set to present the culinary discovery of India by Chef Gordon Ramsay in the new series ‘Gordon’s Great Escape’. The series will showcase Gordon travelling in search of Indian flavours, discovering authentic food from the most jaw-dropping locations across the country.

Gordon will explore the diversity of Indian food, starting his journey in the capital Delhi and moving on to exciting locations including Kolkata, Kerala and Northeast India, and ending his journey in bustling Mumbai.

Kicking off on 31 January, the show will air every Saturday at 10 pm on TLC.

As Gordon samples a variety of Indian delicacies, he will immerse himself in local traditions and activities such as bullock racing in Kerala, hunting deer in Nagaland and assisting a master chef in Lucknow to help prepare a wedding feast.

Discovery executive VP, GM South Asia, South East Asia Rahul Johri said, “TLC continues to present the world of ultimate lifestyle experiences to Indian audience with its varied, distinct and quintessential programming. Gordon Ramsay is an iconic host loved by viewers for his unique personality and style. We are delighted to present his first ever culinary expedition in the new series Gordon’s Great Escape on TLC.”

Viewers can watch Ramsay doing what he loves the most, seeking out the best food in India and testing himself in extreme and demanding situations. His appetite for adventure will take him across the country on his ‘great escape’.

Some of Gordon Ramsay’s India culinary experiences include the following:

Northern India: He travels around Northern India to look for more authentic versions of the popular Indian dishes he grew up with. At the end, he has to prove he has learned how to cook some authentic Indian food in front of food experts in New Delhi.

Kolkata: Gordon demonstrates his curiosity about Indian cuisines that are not normally represented in UK restaurants, so he will travel to remote Northeast India to search them out, and will open a food cart in Kolkata for a day to prove he has learned something.

Southern India: He will travel to Southern India to learn more about vegetarian cooking and Indian fish dishes. He will cook Sambhar with a street chef and put on a fancy dinner for the upper crust of Mumbai.

Linfo Shows Linux Server Health Status in Real-Time

Linfo is a free and open source, cross-platform server statistics UI/library which displays a great deal of system information. It is extensible, easy-to-use (via composer) PHP5 library to get extensive system statistics programmatically from your PHP application. It’s a Ncurses CLI view of Web UI, which works in Linux, Windows, *BSD, Darwin/Mac OSX, Solaris, and Minix.

It displays system info including CPU type/speed ; architecture, mount point usage, hard/optical/flash drives, hardware devices, network devices and stats, uptime/date booted, hostname, memory usage (RAM and swap, if possible), temperatures/voltages/fan speeds and RAID arrays.

Requirements:

  • PHP 5.3
  • pcre extension
  • Linux /proc and /sys mounted and readable by PHP and Tested with the 2.6.x/3.x kernels

How to Install Linfo Server Stats UI/library in Linux

First, create a Linfo directory in your Apache or Nginx web root directory, then clone and move repository files into /var/www/html/linfo using the rsync command as shown below:

Then rename sample.config.inc.php to config.inc.php. This is the Linfo config file, you can define your own values in it:

Now open the URL http://SERVER_IP/linfo in web browser to see the Web UI as shown in the screenshots below.

This screenshot shows the Linfo Web UI displaying core system info, hardware components, RAM stats, network devices, drives and file system mount points.

Linux Server Health Information

You can add the line below in the config file config.inc.php to yield useful error messages for troubleshooting purposes:

Running Linfo in Ncurses Mode

Linfo has a simple ncurses-based interface, which rely on php s ncurses extension.

Now compile the php extension as follows

Next, if you successfully compiled and installed the php extension, run the commands below.

Verify the ncurses.

Linux Server Information

The following features yet to be added in Linfo:

  1. Support for more Unix operating systems (such as Hurd, IRIX, AIX, HP UX, etc)
  2. Support for less known operating systems: Haiku/BeOS
  3. Extra superfluous features/extensions
  4. Support for htop-like features in ncurses mode

For more information, visit Linfo Github repository: https://github.com/jrgp/linfo

That’s all! From now on, you can view a Linux system’s information from within a web browser using Linfo. Try it out and share with us your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, have you come across any similar useful tools/libraries? If yes, then give us some info about them as well.

How to Get Cheap Las Vegas Show Tickets #cheapest #travel #deals

#how to get a cheap flight
    #

How to Get Cheap Las Vegas Show Tickets

Disappearing elephants, hypnotizing stunts, scantily clad women, big-name performers. Next to the action of the world s most famous casinos, these are the reasons people flock to Las Vegas each week of the year. In fact, some of the big ticket shows like The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil, are so popular, that they can be sold out months in advance, which can make it nearly impossible, or extremely expensive, to get tickets. However, the great thing about Las Vegas is that even if the big-ticket show is sold out, there are still many smaller shows and performances well worth a look and you may even be able to get the tickets on the cheap!

Finding Cheap Las Vegas Show Tickets

The best way to secure some tickets to the Barry Manilow, David Copperfield or the Beatles LOVE performance during your visit to Las Vegas is to plan your trip as far in advance as you possibly can. Once you have your vacation time-off approved from your employer, immediately hit the Internet to see if you can find any deals on Las Vegas show tickets for the shows that you are eager to see. If you re trying a few months early to grab some tickets and it s already telling you that the show is sold out, then log on to a travel agency website.

Travel websites will usually have a variety of Las Vegas package deals where you can get your flight, your accommodations and tickets to some of the hottest shows in Vegas all in one easy transaction. You can usually save yourself some money by booking your trip by this means. Again, the earlier you plan and book, the better your chances are of hearing Mandy.

Still Can t Grab Cheap Tickets to Vegas Shows?

If you can t book your vacation that far in advance, or you keep hitting a dead end on those elusive Manilow tickets, there s always a few alternative ways of securing some tickets. Here are a few:

    * Concierge Convenience – Remember, you are in Vegas, so a little palm greasing can go a long way in this town. Your hotel s concierge could very well be one of the most powerful people you ll meet in Sin City. He can sometimes make the impossible, all of a sudden, possible. A little well placed tip in your concierge s palm just might, quite possibly, be the edge you need in securing those prized tickets.

    * Casino Perks – If this isn t your first time to Vegas and you frequent one hotel every time you go, you may have some casino perks waiting for you. This is when the hotel gives you tickets at a discounted price for being loyal to their hotel and casino.

    * Online Auctions – Big name Vegas tickets can sometimes show up on Internet-run auction websites. Usually, it s not advisable to use these sites for tickets because of the possibility of counterfeit ones. Before you search an auction website, you should exhaust all other means of acquiring tickets.

Sorry, No Cheap Tickets for the Big Name Vegas Show

If you re still unlucky in your search for the Manilow tickets, or whatever the hottest show is at the time of your vacation, then don t get too upset. There are hundreds of shows in Vegas that are equally entertaining, which have available tickets. Many of these acts are unlike anything you can see anywhere else in the world and some others are practically Vegas staples. You can find discounts to shows like these in the coupon book that most Las Vegas hotels offer their guests.

Lastly, if the spouse is truly upset about missing Manilow, never fear, just take him or her to one of the incredible impersonator shows, they ll be able to see not only Barry Manilow, but Cher, Bette Midler, Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion and many others – all in one show!

As an equine professional myself I really appreciate the sincerity and devotion that Corinthian gives to me and my clients for all of our horses needs. I would not trust my show horses or pleasure horses with anyone else but Joe and Scott, I know their in good hands!

‘I recommend to all my boarders and training clients to insure their horses with Corinthian Insurance. ‘

Thank you for another year with peace of mind for my four legged family members!

How to Get Cheap Las Vegas Show Tickets #pet #travel

    Group Leisure – Travel Show #travel #buddy

    #travel and leisure
    #

Thanks for visiting the UK’s No.1 show for group travel and leisure see you again in 2016

2015 was a stellar year for the Group Leisure Travel Show, which took place on Thursday 22nd October at the NEC Birmingham and featured stands from the top attractions, tourist boards, accommodation providers, ticketing agencies, coach companies and tour operators in group travel.

The show’s busy aisles were filled with GTOs searching for new ideas for trips and holidays and exhibitors saw substantial sales come in on the day plus leads to follow up on.

The free Seminar Theatre sessions, meanwhile, attracted capacity crowds, and saw the likes of traveller and TV presenter Simon Reeve and TV gardener Joe Swift take to the stage.

Visitors were impressed by the rich variety of exhibitors at the show. “There really was a lot of different exhibitors,” said Derek Shipley from Sheffield U3A. “Everyone has been really helpful and it’s certainly given me some good ideas. When you’ve been doing trips in the same area for four to five years you start to run out of ideas, then you come to a show like this and you think yes, I can combine new things and there’s more to do than I thought. We’ll be booking something on the back of this.”

One visitor, Kenneth Johnson from After Eight Social Club discovered so many new ideas that he’s struggling to fit everything in to his schedule. “We’ve been spoilt for choice, we fancy west Somerset, north Wales, the Lake District, Derbyshire, Matlock. We’re definitely going to book trips based on what we’ve seen today. We’ve also found out about new ways to book theatre trips, which will change where we decide to go in the future.”

Exhibitors have also had a successful show with lots of bookings made based on face to face meetings with GTOs.

“We’ve already signed up some groups for next year and we’ve had a lot of interest in places like China, India and Sri Lanka. It’s wonderful that we can have a day where we can connect with everyone, it’s great to bounce ideas off visitors,” said Glen Thomas of Travelsphere.

P J Chocolate Factory came all the way from Belgium to attend the show and have also made bookings on the day. Judy Lee said: “It’s our second year here and we’ve had a great response, people have been really interested in our chocolate workshops and we’ve seen some results in sales already.”

Put the date in your diary now for next year’s show – the big 20th anniversary Group Leisure Travel Show will take place at the NEC Birmingham on Thursday 20th October.
