3 Ways to Book an Airline Ticket, airline ticket sites.#Airline #ticket

How to Book an Airline Ticket

Booking an airline ticket can seem complicated when there are so many websites, airlines and travel agents to choose from. Flight prices also fluctuate all the time, making the booking process even more complicated. But with some research and flexibility, you’ll be able to book your next airline ticket seamlessly.

Greece Travel: Ferry Boat and Airline Tickets to the Greek Islands,

Greek Island Ferryboats

Tickets for Ferryboats and Flights

Why Greek Travel Agents don’t book just tickets

Airline ticket sitesTravelers to Greece who have spent time in the internet researching their trips often come up against a brick wall when it comes to finding ferry schedules and buying tickets for the boats to get to the islands which they have booked hotels on. This is because the cost for a travel agent to book a ticket is more than the profit he makes on the ticket. For that reason travel agents on the internet will provide ferry tickets for clients who book hotels and tours but will generally ignore requests for ferry schedules and tickets. It is not that they are unkind or uncaring. It is just that if they responded to every request for tickets or information they would have time for little else.

So here is the deal with ferry tickets and flights. If you want to make sure that you will be able to get to the islands you want to then I strongly suggest using a travel agency in Athens to book your hotels and let them figure out the ferry schedules and book the tickets. They will have direct access to the ferry companies while you will only have access to a schedule that someone has posted on the internet that is in all probability flawed since the ferry companies themselves barely know when their own boats are going. Some people have this sort of pride about never using travel agents and others believe they add their commissions to the cost of everything. They don’t. They get discounted rates from the hotels. Try my Create and Itinerary Form and Fantasy Travel can put together an island itinerary based on availability of ferries and give you a price. You are not obliged to book. Also visit Fantasy Travel’s Greek Island-Hopping Programs because you may find the island combination you want to do at a price you did not think possible.

Airline ticket sitesIf you don’t want to work with a travel agency or you have already booked your hotels on an automated site and if you are for example going to one of the Cyclades Islands chances are that you can just go to the port and buy your tickets.

. it is the end of July

. or the month of August

. a holiday weekend like Agios Pnevmatos

. it is Orthodox Easter

. you are taking a high-speed

. you want a cabin

. you are going to Mykonos or Santorini in the summer.

. .. in which case you have a number of options.

Airline ticket sitesYou can check my pages for ads to booking companies that advertise that they book Greek ferry tickets, usually at the top or the bottom of any of the ferry boat pages, including this one. Oh wait. sorry. I removed all those ads. These were paid ads that I had no control over so rather than field complaints from people who thought they had booked a ferry ticket on my website I got rid of the ads. Most of the ads fed into the same system and you can find them on various websites. Dolphin Hellas uses the system and since they are a reputable agency I am happy to recommend you go to their ticket booking page. If you want to try your luck elsewhere here are a few things to remember. First you should make sure there is not a tremendous sir-charge. Second you should check and see what the procedure is for getting the tickets. You want a ticket that you can pick up at the port the ferry is leaving from. There is usually an agency within 100 yards of your departing ferry. That is where you want your ticket to be to avoid problems. Third you should check and see if it is a website for a particular ferry company. For example you may find a website that sells Blue Star tickets but the island you want to visit has 3 Blue Star ferries a week but has a daily ferry from Hellenic Ferries. Not all ferries are represented on all the ferry sites, even those that claim to have all the ferries. If this is all too confusing and you actually want me to check the ferry schedules and tell you when a boat is going and whether you need to book in advance, you can e-mail me. But don’t ask me to send you the ferry schedules and make sure you tell me the date you need to take the ferry. I also recommend Ferryhopper.com which is probably the best ferry booking site out there.

Buying Ferry Tickets in Greece

Airline ticket sitesWhen you get to Athens you can get the daily schedule from Kathimerini which comes out every day with the International Herald Tribune. Is it 100% accurate? No. None are. But it is good enough. The only problem is that by the time it comes out most of the ferries have already left. You can buy tickets on Nikis street though you have to be careful because most agencies in the area of Syntagma are happy to sell you ferry tickets or airline tickets. But they will be even happier to sell you a 5-star hotel and a cruise and they are good at selling. The ferry ticket offices in Pireaus are there to sell ferry-tickets and there are a number of them by the bus terminal which is across the street from the metro to your left. There is also an agency that sells ferry tickets at the airport. But again, the real money is in cruises and hotels so don’t be surprised if they try to sell you those too.

Dolphin Hellas Travel has a ticketing office downstairs from their main offices on Syngrou Avenue. If you walk down Syngrou from the Temple of Olympian Zeus it is a couple blocks down on the right. For information on booking tickets with them on-line see Dolphin-Ferry-Tickets which you can do as you get closer to the date of the departure, not a year in advance. I also recommend Ferryhopper.com

For those who want to avoid frustration and have an idea of what islands they want to visit but don’t want to buy a package or go on a tour try my Create-an-itinerary form and have all your hotels and ferries booked before you arrive. You will get to the airport or your Athens hotel and receive an envelope with all your ferry tickets and hotel vouchers.

Flights to the Greek Islands

Airline ticket sitesThere are two airlines and counting (though I don’t know in which direction) which go to the Greek islands from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport in Athens. Most islands have from one to ten flights a day on aircraft of a variety of sizes. This means that some islands at certain times of the year (particularly summer) will be difficult to get seats for unless you do it in advance. The two airlines are Aegean and Olympic, though now they are one airline. If you have booked your hotels already and know you don’t want to take a ferry boat then you should book your flight asap. But once again we have a situation where travel agents don’t want to book just flights. Not to give them anymore advertising than they need, but sites like Travelocity and a number of automated-booking websites do allow you to book domestic flights within Greece. This may be the easiest way but as an example I found r/t Athens to Mykonos for between $203 and $235 on Travelocity while a Greek travel agency gave me a price of 145 euros. This may have just been for this particular flight though it is not out of the question that the Greek travel agencies would get better rates from their own airlines. But it does not hurt to shop around if all you have to do is click.

These Greece websites will also be helpful:

Tips on Cheap Travel From Travel Booking Companies, Reader – s

11 Secrets Travel Booking Companies Don t Want You to Know

Start early (but not too early)

Travel booking sitesiStock/somkku

Rates can shoot up in the blink of an eye, so it’s best to start researching your trip well in advance. The sooner, the better, but don’t get overzealous—CheapAir.com recommends booking domestic flights an average of 47 days (and for international flights, 60 days) in advance for the best rates. Outside of those date ranges, airline companies probably won’t be advertising a competitive price. This is what airlines won’t tell you about safety, disgusting airplane habits, and more.

Check fares often

Travel booking sitesiStock/Todor Tsvetkov

Become a regular visitor to your favorite travel booking sites—it could give you the best bet of snagging a good deal. According to CheapAir.com CEO Jeff Klee, airlines usually have 10 to 15 different price points for any flight, so their rates could fluctuate in a matter of hours. Logging on in advance will give you a good idea of the expected rates; that way you’ll recognize a deal when it comes along. Once you do, be prepared to pounce. “While everyone wants to get a good deal, you can’t obsess about finding rock-bottom prices,” Klee told U.S. News. “Once you see a good deal, grab it. If you see a good deal during the day, there’s a very good chance that it will change by evening.”

Read the fine print

Travel booking sitesiStock/Neustockimages

If you’re not careful, the bucks you saved when booking could start slipping out of your pocket the minute you arrive at the airport. Sometimes, online booking companies will hit you with unexpected fees for extra services. Airline companies could charge you to print a boarding pass if you didn’t do it at home; others could hide additional taxes or fees for hotel rooms or extra luggage. Luckily, those fees are avoidable; just make sure to do your homework on the company and read the fine print before you press the “purchase” button. Stop making these airport mistakes before your next flight.

Befriend the experts

Although travel itineraries and emergency contacts are important for a safe trip, a travel agent can be your most trusted getaway companion. If something goes wrong before or during your trip, they will be your primary advocate and have your back in sticky situations, especially when traveling abroad. Travel agents also book directly with the travel companies, so you won’t get stuck working through a third-party service, which could cause you to lose your ticket or get you bumped from a wait list. If you prefer to go about it alone, Klee said, make sure that you are using online services that provide reliable customer support. “That way, if you’re in a bind, you can get help more easily,” he told U.S. News. No one likes to be left on their own when things go sideways.

Set a realistic budget

Travel booking sitesiStock/Ivan Bliznetsov

Don’t freeze the minute you see big dollar signs. If you’re traveling around peak times like Christmas or Thanksgiving, you should expect to pay more for your ticket. Budgeting for the escalated costs of holiday travel will give you a safety net for spending. “Holiday flights are more expensive than everyday flights,” Klee told U.S. News. “Don’t get sticker-shock and wait longer to book in hopes that the price will drop, since you could end up paying more.” You can pounce on great deals by researching flights and hotel rates several months in advance, but settling on a realistic cost will be your best bet at success. Here are tricks for flying for less money.

Don’t assume you’re too late

Travel booking sitesiStock/BraunS

Even if you’re behind on your scheduling, don’t be afraid to take a leap of faith and wait it out. “If a fare was way too high for your pocketbook, you should jump back into the pool a few weeks before,” Klee said. Sometimes, airlines lower the cost of unsold seats in order to fill a plane. You can usually find the best bargains during inconvenient departure times or overnight flights, so try to keep an open mind with your travel plans.

Know when to spend money

Travel booking sitesiStock/AlexBrylov

Even though it’s nice to save a few bucks once in awhile, there are times when cutting corners can go a little overboard. Opting for an eight-hour overnight layover just because it was $10 or $20 cheaper probably isn’t worth it. Pay close attention to the listed travel dates and times and avoid skimping where it’s not necessary, no matter how enticing the travel companies might make it seem. These are secrets about flying that flight attendants won’t tell you.

Clear your cookies regularly

Travel booking sitesiStock/Georgijevic

Travel booking websites are sneakier than you think. If you’ve already visited a travel site, browsed their rates, and then left (but plan to return to book), watch out: that site could remember you, and when you return, it could jack up its prices. “There is growing anecdotal evidence that suggests airlines are tracking your behavior online, and potentially even tracking IP addresses, and prices could go up for flights that are searched frequently,” Peter Greenberg, travel editor at CBS News, wrote on LinkedIn. When you see the inflated rates, you may get anxious and feel the need to book it right then. Avoid the temptation; you will be paying more than you should for your ticket. Instead, you can stealthily avoid the tracking websites by clearing your browser history after you visit the site.

Be flexible with dates

Travel booking sitesiStock/PeopleImages

Saving a few bucks could be as simple as adding a day to your trip. A survey conducted by CheapAir.com shows that travelers saved an average of $249 per airline ticket simply by shifting their Thanksgiving travel dates to depart the Monday before the holiday and return the Tuesday after. This applies to hotel rates, too; sometimes, a longer stay could actually be cheaper. “Always check for a three-night stay because lots of hotels give much better rates when booking three or more nights, rather than a one- or two-night stay,” Hotels.com co-founder Bob Diener told U.S. News.

Keep your currency local

Travel booking sitesiStock/İsmail Çiydem

Booking international flights in the local currency could save you big bucks, since flights at converted rates are almost always more expensive. Avoiding the conversion costs isn’t hard; just select the native country as your location in the upper right-hand corner of the airline website.

Know your tools

Travel booking sitesiStock/Imgorthand

Tons of powerful money-saving sites are out there on the world wide web, so take advantage. For example, certain services like Hopper will notify you as soon as a price drop happens. Another site, ITA Flight Matrix, collects flight information from every service provider, and allows you to sort results by location, cost per mile, date ranges, and more.

A Barbados Briefing

Travel web sites

Barbados is a coral island, pushed out of sea by volcanic activity in a far away time. On the West Coast of Barbados, coral shore beaches of fine white sand stretch along a blue-green sea. Coral reefs fringe the Barbados shoreline to provide excellent snorkeling and Scuba Diving. Along the East Coast a lively surf is blown briskly by the strong and constant trade winds and the waves pound against a rocky shore. The constant breeze of the trade winds give Barbados a mild and pleasant tropical climate.

When you visit Barbados, you will see it is mostly a flat coral island with excellent beaches, but there are rolling hills and many deep ridges and gullies, with an interesting distribution of flora and fauna. Within the Barbados coral core there is a vast array of caves and underground lakes which provide an excellent supply of drinking water that is amongst the purest in the world. Geologically Barbados is unique, being actually two land masses that merged together over the years. This and other anomalies make this Caribbean Island quite phenomenal, and there are geological structures that you will find only in Barbados.

Barbados Expectation

Travel web sites

Barbados is a very beautiful island, with lots of art, activities, night life, music, history and some of the best restaurants to be found anywhere. But what makes Barbados even more special, and the reason why so many visitors keep returning to the island year after year, is the people.

Barbadians, called Bajans, are warm and friendly souls, always ready to greet you with a sincere smile. Barbadians make you feel welcome and special, in this lovely Caribbean Island. You will feel its your home and will want to come back again and again to Barbados: A unique Caribbean paradise, surprisingly sophisticated, friendly, fun and always Naturally Charming!
