Train Schedule From Chiangmai-Bangkok-Chiangmai, Thailand, travelling to thailand.#Travelling #to #thailand

travelling to thailand

The Train Station

Trains In Thailand – Below are the quoted rates for non air-conditioned and air-conditioned trains with sleeping berth. At night pillows and blankets are provided. Sprinter trains are Special Express Trains without berth, but with reclining chair and air-conditioned. Trains in Thailand are clean and mostly punctual.

There are three different types of service.

First Class contains one small compartment for two persons. This class is not available on most trains and tends to get booked out first. The compartment is a private air-conditioning compartment consisting of two sleeping berths, a washing basin. The berth is a cushion, pillow and blanket which are comfortable. Only common toilet is available (no private toilet). To own a private compartment of your own while travelling alone, then two first-class tickets must be purchased.

Second Class is the most preferred choice. It is only a common compartment. Private compartment is not available. Each berth has its own curtain, cushion, pillow and blanket as that of the first class. Fan or air-conditioning are available in either seat or sleeper form. Fan cooled sections tend to get a little hot at night and air-conditioning is the more comfortable of the two. The price is higher for the lower berth than the upper berth.

Third Class not quite as hectic as perhaps India but suitable for only the more hardened traveller. No pre-booking is possible in this class.

Sprinter Train – is a special Express train with air-conditioning and comfortable seats of reclining chairs, similar to that of the coach. There is no sleeping berth.

All classes of train have refreshment facilities and most have full catering cars with cooked meals at reasonable rates. At practically every station food vendors offer local delights from fried chicken to more exotic local delicacies.

Sleepers (Information)

First class sleepers consist of two full size bunk beds whilst second class sleepers are assembled from two facing seats to form the bottom or lower bunk. The upper bunk is a stow-a-way bed which is unlocked when the beds are made up. All beds use fresh cotton sheets, pillow with cases and laundered towel-like blankets.

Beds are arranged by the train staff at around 9:00 pm and they are stored away again at 08:00 am when travelling.

In both classes the beds are around 2m (6.5 ft) in length.

Safety

Travel police actively patrol every train and the incidents of robberies etc is extremely rate. The service generally has a good safety record throughout the kingdom and the train people of Thailand are generally very professional about their given tasks. Bags are stored beside the seat in second class which is illuminated throughout the night.

Pricing

There are different rates for different classes, services and train types. The most expensive ticket will be Special Express 1st class sleeper. Actual ticket rates are displayed as below.

Bangkok Travel Guide – Hotels, Tours, Shopping, Nightlife and Information, travel

    Bangkok Travel Guide

Bangkok welcomes more visitors than any other city in the world and it doesn t take long to realise why. Bangkok is a city of contrasts with action at every turn. Food is another Bangkok highlight, from local dishes served at humble street stalls to haute cuisine at romantic rooftop restaurants.

Luxury malls compete with a sea of boutiques and markets, where you can treat yourself without overspending. Extravagant Luxury hotels and surprisingly cheap serviced apartments welcome you with the same famed Thai hospitality. And no visit to Bangkok would be complete without a glimpse of its famous nightlife. Be it nightclubs, cabarets or exotic red-light districts, Bangkok never ceases to amaze. Not convinced yet? Best Time to Visit Thailand

Looking for the best time to go to Thailand? Wherever you travel in the world, it is important to get the timing right. As far as Thailand is concerned, there are no absolute extremes. If you can avoid the rainy season (July to October). it would probably be best, but if you can’t, the rain isn’t permanent – it comes in bursts and cools things down after it has gone!

The weather in Thailand is reasonable most times of year, although it certainly gets hot during the summer! November through February are the coolest times of year and there is certainly less rain then than at other times in the year. However, Thailand is a big country with a diverse landscape. There is somewhere to visit whatever time of the year you visit the kingdom.

    Thailand’s Seasons

Thailand’s seasons are reasonably uniform through the country, but there are some regional differences. Basically Thailand has three seasons: summer, rainy and winter. The southern part of Thailand however does not have a winter. What follows is a summary of the seasons as they impact the kingdom’s various regions:

    Central Thailand and the East

In central Thailand and the eastern provinces, the hot summer weather starts around mid February and goes on to April. In April, the extreme temperatures can go up to the 40 degrees centigrade mark. The winter months are from mid November to mid February. There may really be only a few days of genuinely cold weather during these months, but the period leading up to the New Year are a welcome respite from the heat throughout the rest of the year. Aside from these days, visitors from Europe still may feel the temperatures as being a bit warm during Thailand’s winter, although not uncomfortably so. The rainy season kicks in around May and goes on until October. The rain is frequent and sometimes fierce. Usually rainstorms go on for around 30 minutes or so. If you’re visiting the beach destinations in the east (Pattaya, Rayong, Koh Chang), the best time is from December to May.

    Northern Thailand and the Northeast

Northern Thailand and the Northeast have the same basic seasons as those in the central and eastern regions. The winters are though significantly cooler. Mountainous regions can get particularly cold, on some occasions down to 0 degrees centigrade. In these parts, winter starts in November and goes on to February. Without doubt these are the best months for a visit to the North and Northeast – flowers are in bloom, it is dry and cool, and in the mountains’ mists and fogs often form making what is already wonderful scenery quite exquisite. However, although hot, April is also a great month – during the Songkran Festival people will most likely throw water at you… You will be drenched so that will keep you cool!

How to Travel to Cambodia – Thailand #yearly #travel #insurance

    #travel to thailand
    #

    Things You’ll Need

How to travel to Cambodia and Thailand

Research your destinations to decide where you want to visit when you travel to Thailand and Cambodia. This will influence how long you have in each country and when you want to move on. Cambodia’s main attraction is the Angkor Wat temple complex; an ancient heritage site on the edge of the developed city of Siem Reap. Sihanoukville has wide sandy beaches and Phnom Penh is one of Cambodia’s colonial-style cities with shops and restaurants. In Thailand your destination will be based on your preferences and whether you want to trek in Chiang Mai, visit the beaches and spas on the islands of Phuket and Ko Samui or relax on Khao Lak and Ko Phi Phi.

Decide when to go. Consider the weather and how it will affect your vacation. The best time to visit Thailand is between November and February when temperatures are cooled by the northeast monsoon. Good months for Cambodia include December and January with lower humidity levels. This is also the peak tourist season. Travel in the rainy season — July to October — for cheaper prices and some downpours.

Choose your flights. Book a flight into Bangkok for the biggest choice of flights and largest range of deals. Travel to your favored destinations within Thailand before making your way to Cambodia.

Choose your transportation from Thailand to Cambodia. You can take a flight to one of Cambodia’s two international airports, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, or cross into the country from Thailand by bus at one of Cambodia’s six international border crossings. The most popular is the Aranyprathet/ Poipet border crossing. Traveling to Cambodia overland is the cheaper and more adventurous option.

Seek medical advice regarding the vaccinations you need to travel to Thailand and Cambodia, four to six weeks before you travel. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests you make sure you’re up-to-date with shots such as measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliovirus vaccine, hepatitis A and B and typhoid. Research and buy comprehensive travel and medical insurance or make sure your current insurance is up-to-date and covers the areas you want to travel to.

Buy visas. Check the Thailand visa situation with your airline or the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs. Visa requirements change frequently, but in 2010 if you entered Thailand by air as a tourist you are eligible for 30 days’ travel in the country. If you’re crossing by land at Aranyprathet/ Poipet you can get a Cambodian visa on arrival but eVisas are available in advance, a convenient option considering the sometimes chaotic border crossing.

    U.S. Relations With Thailand

More information about Thailand is available on the Thailand Page and from other Department of State publications and other sources listed at the end of this fact sheet.

    U.S.-THAILAND RELATIONS

The United States and Thailand established relations in 1832 and signed a Treaty of Amity and Commerce in 1833, formalizing diplomatic relations. An interim military government has ruled Thailand, a constitutional monarchy, since a May 2014 military coup which deposed the then-elected civilian government. The United States has urged the early restoration of elected civilian government and return to democracy through elections. Over the decades, Thai democracy has been interrupted by military coups and rule, and civic and political unrest. Thailand is a key U.S. security ally in Asia, and the country s stability and growth are important to the maintenance of peace in the region. Since World War II, the United States and Thailand have significantly expanded diplomatic, security, and commercial relations.

The United States and Thailand are among the signatories of the 1954 Manila Pact of the former Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO). Despite the dissolution of the SEATO in 1977, the Manila Pact remains in force and, together with the Thanat-Rusk communiqu of 1962 and the 2012 Joint Vision Statement for the Thai-U.S. Defense Alliance, constitutes the basis of U.S. security commitments to Thailand. In 2003, the United States designated Thailand a Major Non-NATO Ally.

    U.S. Partnership with Thailand

The United States partnership with Thailand stretches beyond a bilateral relationship with an impact on the broader region. The partnership spans the areas of trade, science and technology, wildlife trafficking, public health, education, cultural exchange, law enforcement, and security cooperation. Ongoing U.S. support is geared towards strengthening Thai efforts to reform the criminal justice system, promoting good governance through democracy and civil society activities, and investing in people through humanitarian assistance for displaced persons and control and prevention of infectious diseases and emerging pandemic threats. The United States also encourages Thailand s ongoing active contributions to regional and global security, as well as supports Thailand s efforts to assist lesser developed countries through the Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI).

Thailand and the United States have longstanding cooperation in international law enforcement efforts. The United States and Thailand work closely together and with the United Nations on a broad range of programs to halt illicit trafficking and other criminal activity. Thailand has received U.S. military equipment, essential supplies, training, and assistance in the construction and improvement of facilities and installations for much of the period since 1950. As part of their mutual defense cooperation, Thailand and the United States have developed a joint military exercise program, which engages all the services of each nation and has averaged 40 joint exercises per year. The United States has scaled back military engagements with Thailand following the May 2014 coup and has urged a return to civilian rule and democracy to forestall further negative impact on the U.S.-Thai security relationship.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Regional Development Mission for Asia in Bangkok, supports regional, transnational, and bilateral programs. These programs include work on the responsible use of natural resources; control and prevention of infectious diseases and emerging pandemic threats; prevention of human and wildlife trafficking; resolution of political conflict and increased citizen participation in political processes; and the achievement of an integrated Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) community by the end of 2015. U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers, active in Thailand continuously since 1963, focus on primary education and youth development. Education Volunteers support English education through teacher collaboration, and community service. Since 2013, Peace Corps Volunteers have also worked to promote life skills and leadership, reproductive health, and civic engagement and volunteering.

    Bilateral Economic Relations

The United States is Thailand s third-largest bilateral trading partner, after Japan and China, with total bilateral trade valued at more than $44 billion in 2014. The United States is also one of the largest investors in Thailand, with over $14 billion in foreign direct investment. Leading Thai imports from the United States include machinery, aircraft, gold, optic and medical goods, and agricultural products. Thailand Travel Guide

    Thailand’s Weather

Those planning to ride motorbikes or travel about in Samlors Inexpensive public transport around Thailand. Pickup trucks with a canopy over bench seats in the rear. should consider bringing or buying a substantial jacket.

Hot season in Thailand can be miserable, especially outdoors in Bangkok. Poor air quality compounds the problem. Beaches around the country as well as mountains in the North (except during the burning season ) provide a welcome respite.

Rainy season is complicated and seems to be changing. The good news is that you will see fewer tourists and get better rates on rooms. Our best attempt at explaining what is normal for Thailand’s rainy season.

    Hotels Resorts

Hotels Resorts appeal to different travelers in individual ways. Some may be delighted with a sand-floored hut on a quiet beach or nestled in a forest. Khao Sok National Park actually has tree-house accommodations.

Luxury rooms in a 5-star resort are minimum expectations for other travelers. Thailand boasts more than a fair share of world class hotels resorts.

Room rates have risen over the years. But compared to the west and other Asian countries, you can still find great deals. Avoiding High Season For purposes of booking rooms in Thailand, high season is generally November to February, but varies by region.

Depending on the length of your stay in Thailand, you may need a Visa Foreigners may enter under the Tourist Visa Exemption category; may re-enter and stay in Thailand for a cumulative duration of stay not exceeding 90 days within any 6-month period from the date of first entry.

Each beach has it’s own particular charm. Part of the travel experience is finding what works best for you. beaches in Thailand

Tips From the Banker: The Real Cost of Travel in Thailand

I spent two months traveling in Thailand, making it my longest-traveled country on my Southeast Asian itinerary.   During my three weeks in Laos and month in Cambodia. I found it possible to travel on an average of just USD$30 per day.  Once I got to Thailand, however, keeping costs low became difficult.  For some reason, I started spending Baht like it was monopoly money, especially in the islands.

I had heard previously, and can now confirm, that the north of Thailand is easy on a tight budget.  As one moves south, costs for accommodation start to double, triple, and even quadruple.  Pricey accommodation accounted for my biggest expenditure, and drinks came in at a close second.

However, when I considered my overall expenditure, I realized that the costs were still very reasonable, especially considering that I was in Thailand during high season, including Christmas and New Years.

My average daily budget for Thailand ended up at $45/day.  Here is the breakdown:

    Accommodation:

Back in Laos, I distinctly remember stressing about spending $6.25 per day on a private bungalow in 4000 Islands.  For the same accommodation in Bottle Beach on Koh Phangan, I was paying double.  The most I paid for a room in Thailand was $20, completely blowing my budget, considering I often found $2 accommodation in Cambodia.

That said, I was able to find decent and cheap dorms in Chiang Mai and Pai in northern Thailand for a mere $3-$4 nightly.

Check out my post on my favorite hostels in Thailand for great budget options.

    Transportation:

Busses and trains were completely reasonable in price, especially the non-VIP options, ranging from $3 to $9 for a bus journey.

My main transport issue was tuk-tuks and cabs.  As a solo traveler, I often had to foot the entire bill.  I found that in Laos and Cambodia, tuk-tuks would haggle.  In Thailand, they preferred to wait until another tourist came along who would pay the asking price.  Given that they re trying to run a business themselves, I can t fault them for this.  However, it made it hard as a solo traveler to save my money.

Tip: when possible, take motorbike taxis as they are the cheapest option.  Always at least try to haggle, and don t take a taxi that isn t in a queue.  If someone walks up to you, s/he is probably going to quote an outlandish rate.

When possible (which may only be in Bangkok) take taxis who agree to run their meters.

The food in Thailand is fantastic and very cheap.  One can easily eat at a night market, sampling several different eats, for just a few dollars.  Generally, prices are not negotiable and the asking price should be paid.  Prices run from around USD$1 for  a dish like vegetarian pad thai, to $3 for a soup with beverage and rice, or $6 for fresh fish.

Where Thailand gets expensive is alcoholic beverages.  In Laos and Cambodia, beer runs about USD$1.  In Thailand, however, $3 and higher per drink is quite typical.  Cutting alcohol from your budget in Thailand could literally save hundreds.

Cheap vs. Expensive Places in Thailand

Chiang Mai, Pai. Chiang Rai. and other northern cities will tend to be very cheap, with costs increasing as one heads south, especially to the islands.

Also consider time of year.  High season (December through March) means double the prices for accommodation in most places in Southeast Asia.  Thailand is no different.

    Other incidentals:

SIM cards are very cheap in Thailand.  I paid only $20 (with DTAC a Thai carrier) for 3 gigs of 3G over the span of one month.  What s more, service was great.

Massages are also cheap, generally costing around $6 for a full hour.

In general, Thailand can be very cheap to visit, especially during low season and in the north of the country.  Even in the south, considering the beautiful beaches and truly delicious eats, Thailand is still a great budget destination.

    Some Risk

There is some risk to your security elsewhere in Thailand due to the potential for civil unrest and threat of terrorism.  We advise caution.

    Political Tension/Civil unrest

On 22 May 2014, the Thai military took control of the government in a coup and imposed martial law nationwide.  On 1 April 2015, martial law was lifted across most of Thailand but replaced by other special measures which continue to allow the military expanded powers to enforce order.

Under the measures, authorities may restrict movement, public assembly or political gatherings and have prohibited the distribution of any information considered detrimental to Thailand’s national security or public order.  Individuals may be detained for violation of these and other measures.

New Zealanders throughout Thailand are advised to exercise caution and monitor the media to stay informed of developments.  We recommend adhering to any instructions or restrictions issued by the local authorities. New Zealanders throughout Thailand should be wary of making political statements in public and on social media.

From November 2013 until the coup in May 2014, Thailand experienced large-scale political demonstrations.  Several violent incidents in the vicinity of these demonstrations resulted in injuries and deaths.  A number of small explosions have occurred in public places in Bangkok since February 2015.  Police investigations into these incidents are ongoing and further such incidents are possible.

New Zealanders throughout Thailand are advised to avoid any protests, demonstrations, and large public gatherings, as even those intended to be peaceful have the potential to quickly turn violent.

Before travelling to Thailand we recommend you check with your insurance provider that they will continue to cover you for claims arising from the current situation.

    Terrorism

There is an on-going threat of terrorism in Thailand.  There have been a number of explosive device incidents in Bangkok and other cities, including Phuket and Koh Samui.

On 17 August 2015, an explosion near the Erawan Shrine in central Bangkok killed at least 20 people and injured many more.  A further explosion occurred on 18 August, when a device detonated in the water by the Saphan Taksin pier, close to the main tourist ferry terminal in Bangkok.  There were no injuries in this second attack.  Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.

New Zealanders are advised to exercise a high degree of personal security awareness in Thailand.  Particular care should be taken in public and commercial areas, including landmark places known to be frequented by expatriates or foreign tourists, public transport facilities, hotels, bars, tourist resorts, shopping areas and places of worship.

    Local travel

There is an ongoing threat of violence in the southernmost provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani and Songkhla.  Bombings and shootings are common in these provinces and over 5,000 people have been killed in the ongoing conflict since 2004.  Foreigners have been caught up in this violence in the past.

In the north of the country, a dispute centred around the Preah Vihear temple (known as Khao Pra Viharn temple in Thailand) on the Thai-Cambodia border has led to hostilities and tensions in the past.  Thai and Cambodian troops are deployed in this area and have on occasion engaged in armed conflict.  The situation has stabilised however we recommend exercising particular care in areas close to the border with Cambodia and at border crossings.

There is also a danger from unexploded landmines in areas surrounding the temple and the Ta Kwai and Ta Muen Thom temples.  If you are travelling in this area we recommend you remain on well-used roads and paths.

    General travel advice

It is a requirement under Thai law to carry photo identification at all times.  A  New Zealand driver’s licence or a photocopy of the biodata page from a passport would be adequate identification in the first instance.

New Zealanders travelling or living in Thailand should have a comprehensive travel insurance policy in place that includes provision for medical evacuation by air.

New Zealanders in Thailand are encouraged to register their details with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

    Places to Visit in Thailand #flight #tickets #for #cheap

    #travelling to thailand
    #

With sixteen million foreigners flying into the country each year, Thailand is Asia’s primary travel destination and offers a host of places to visit. Yet despite this vast influx of visitors, Thailand’s cultural integrity remains largely undamaged – a country that adroitly avoided colonization has been able to absorb Western influences while maintaining its own rich heritage. Though the high-rises and neon lights occupy the foreground of the tourist picture, the typical Thai community is still the farming village, and you need not venture far to encounter a more traditional scene of fishing communities, rubber plantations and Buddhist temples. Around forty percent of Thais earn their living from the land, based around the staple rice, which forms the foundation of the country’s unique and famously sophisticated cuisine.

Tourism has been just one factor in the country’s development which, since the deep-seated uncertainties surrounding the Vietnam War faded, has been free, for the most part, to proceed at death-defying pace – for a time in the 1980s and early 1990s, Thailand boasted the fastest-expanding economy in the world. Politics in Thailand, however, has not been able to keep pace. Since World War II, coups d’état have been as common a method of changing government as general elections; the malnourished democratic system – when the armed forces allow it to operate – is characterized by corruption and cronyism.

Through all the changes of the last sixty years, the much-revered constitutional monarch, King Bhumibol, who sits at the pinnacle of an elaborate hierarchical system of deference covering the whole of Thai society, has lent a measure of stability. Furthermore, some 85 percent of the population are still practising Theravada Buddhists, a unifying faith that colours all aspects of daily life – from the tiered temple rooftops that dominate every skyline, to the omnipresent saffron-robed monks and the packed calendar of festivals.

Health Information for Travelers to Thailand – Traveler view #flights #tickets

    #travelling to thailand
    #

    Vaccines and Medicines

You should be up to date on routine vaccinations while traveling to any destination. Some vaccines may also be required for travel.

Get travel vaccines and medicines because there is a risk of these diseases in the country you are visiting.

Ask your doctor what vaccines and medicines you need based on where you are going, how long you are staying, what you will be doing, and if you are traveling from a country other than the US.

When traveling in Thailand, you should avoid mosquito bites to prevent malaria. You may need to take prescription medicine before, during, and after your trip to prevent malaria, depending on your travel plans, such as where you are going, when you are traveling, and if you are spending a lot of time outdoors or sleeping outside. Talk to your doctor about how you can prevent malaria while traveling. For more information on malaria in Thailand, see malaria in Thailand.

Although rabies can be found in dogs, bats, and other mammals in Thailand, it is not a major risk to most travelers. CDC recommends this vaccine only for these groups:

    • Travelers involved in outdoor and other activities in remote areas that put them at risk for animal bites (such as adventure travel and caving).
    • People who will be working with or around animals (such as veterinarians, wildlife professionals, and researchers).
    • People who are taking long trips or moving to remote areas in Thailand
    • Children, because they tend to play with animals, might not report bites, and are more likely to have animal bites on their head and neck.

There is no risk of yellow fever in Thailand. The government of Thailand requires proof of yellow fever vaccination only if you are arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. This does not include the US. If you are traveling from a country other than the US, check this list to see if you may be required to get the yellow fever vaccine: Countries with risk of yellow fever virus (YFV) transmission .

For more information on recommendations and requirements, see yellow fever recommendations and requirements for Thailand. Your doctor can help you decide if this vaccine is right for you based on your travel plans.

Following the introduction of Zoho CRM t + b Solutions sales and marketing staff were empowered to more quickly and easily segment their customers for email marketing campaigns and reporting and has enabled improvements in email communications, both in terms of quality and efficiency, between local staff and international clients.

I needed a CRM package that would provide focus for my business in terms of finding, winning and keeping customers, and allow me to monitor this through user defined reporting. Zoho delivered all this and was easy to implement throughout the business. Without doubt a good investment.

    Planning for Your Thailand Vacation #cheap #flights #and #hotels

    Plan for Your Thailand Vacation

By Suzanne Nam. Thailand Travel Expert

Thailand is one of the most hassle-free countries in the region to travel to, but there are a few things to do before you arrive.

Buy or borrow a guidebook before you set any plans in stone, and make sure to investigate some of Thailand’s underrated destinations, too.

    Book Flights

With the large number of carriers and flights available, most people don’t make advance bookings for domestic air travel in Thailand. If you’re travel times are flexible and you’re going to very popular destinations like Phuket or Chiang Mai. you should be able to find flights even a day or two before you plan to travel. If you’re going somewhere with fewer flights like Sukhothai, Trat or Chiang Rai, buy your tickets well in advance as flights do sell out.

And if you’re traveling in Thailand during a major holiday, book flights to any destination in advance. Keep in mind that tickets get more expensive the later you book. Even on discount carriers it’s not uncommon to pay half the price if you book a few weeks in advance.

    Book Accommodations

If you already know the general area you want to stay in and it’s heavily touristed and densely packed with accommodations, like Khao San Road in Bangkok or Patong Beach in Phuket, it’s not too difficult to walk from hotel to hotel to find the one that’s right for you.

But bear in mind that these days arriving without reservations usually doesn’t save money — even some small guest houses offer cheaper rates if you book ahead on the internet. Better to do the research, pick the area you want to stay in and make the reservation before you arrive. Wandering around with a backpack searching for a place to sleep sounds like fun but often ends up a miserable experience.

    Visit Your Doctor

Thailand poses few health risks for visitors, but many doctors recommend a Hepatitis B vaccination and possibly other medications and immunizations depending on your general health and the regions you’ll be visiting.

Thailand is like no other place in the world. Whether you’re coming from North America, Europe, Asia or Africa, most likely Thailand will seem very foreign and exotic when you arrive. Make the transition a little more comfortable (and get a little more out of it) by reading up a bit on the country’s history, religions, and etiquette.

    Top Thailand hotels

    Travel to Thailand

Thailand is one of the most beautiful and accessible countries in Southeast Asia. It offers all the trappings of an exotic holiday, from dense jungles to deserted tropical beaches. By booking through ebookers, you can find discount flights to Thailand on both domestic and international airlines.

    Airports in Thailand

Most international travellers fly into Bangkok, which is served by the Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The airport is located about 20 miles from Bangkok on the 2nd State Expressway. The second busiest airport in Thailand is the Phuket International Airport, which receives connecting flights from Bangkok and from countries around Southeast Asia. The airport is located on the northern tip of the island on Thep Krasattri, less than 20 miles from any point on Phuket.

If you are flying into Bangkok, the easiest way to get from the airport into town is by the airport train link. The SA Express Link costs 90 baht and brings you directly to Makkasan Station in about 15 minutes. The SA City Line makes more stops, terminates at the Phaya Thai station and costs up to 45 baht, depending on your destination. The ride takes about 30 minutes. Metered taxis are available from a stand outside the airport. The ride into the city takes up to an hour. If you are flying into Phuket, a taxi is the easiest option. Local taxi drivers are accustomed to tourists, and you should have no trouble getting to your destination. Fares can vary dramatically, based on where you are staying and the time you arrive. Check with your hotel before you travel, as many Phuket hotels and resorts offer free door-to-door transportation from the airport.

Thailand is hot year-round; no matter when you arrive, you will find warm days and plenty of sunshine. The best time to visit, however, is from November to February. During these months, the temperatures are the lowest-though most travellers will still consider them to be hot-and the humidity levels are down. Many days hover around 35°C. The rainy season runs from June to October, but most days see only two or three hours of rain. If you pack a rain gear, you will have no problem exploring all of Thailand’s attractions; plus, crowds thin out and prices drop during the monsoon. March, April and May are the hottest months, and temperatures often reach 40°C.

Thailand has a wealth of attractions to keep you busy during your trip. Off the southern coast of the country, the Thai islands are popular with visitors and gap-year travellers from around the world. The white-sand beaches and turquoise water are postcard-perfect, and you’ll never find a shortage of parties. In Bangkok, you can see the majestic Grand Palace, the floating markets and Wat Pho. Other attractions include the Chiang Mai night market and the hill tribes near the Burmese border. If you want to participate in a festival, travel during any full moon or in November for Loy Krathong.

Thailand welcomes millions of visitors per year, and the tourist infrastructure is designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible. With ebookers, you can plan your trip ahead of time, from booking flights to Thailand to reserving beachfront hotels.
