Top 10 Autoresponders and Email Marketing Tools, top ten email marketing.#Top

Top 10 Autoresponders and Email Marketing Tools

One of the first questions new (and even experienced) marketers often ask is: “What’s the best autoresponder service or email marketing tool?” Autoresponders and email marketing tools are some of the most important parts of your business. You use it to follow-up with customers. To keep people coming back to your site. To build loyalty. To make sales. Yet the answer is often not so clear cut. Do you want the highest deliverability possible? Do you want to import offline contacts? Do you want to integrate your list management with a shopping cart? Do you want to spend $20 a month or $500 a month? The answer to these questions all yield very different answers. Here are the top 10 autoresponder tools on the market, along with who they’re for and what they’re capable of.

Tool #1: Aweber

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

If you’re managing a list in the hundreds, thousands or low tens of thousands and you only collect leads through the internet, then there’s no better service than Aweber. Aweber doesn’t really allow you to add leads from offline sources. However, for online lists, Aweber sports the best deliverability ratings on the market. If you’re primarily using online opt-in forms, use Aweber. Your emails will get delivered, opened and clicked on.

Tool #2: MailChimp

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

MailChimp is a fantastic place for beginning marketers to get started. Their “forever free” plan allows you to create a list on MailChimp for free as long as your list is under 500 users. When you’re just starting out, that’s more than enough. If you don’t want to start paying for autoresponders yet, go ahead and give MailChimp a shot, it is a great first step as an email marketing tool.

Tool #3: iContact

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

iContact is a great choice for small to medium sized marketers who do want to import outside lists. iContact allows you to add people to your list manually or through import.

Tool #4: Constant Contact

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

If you’re a fan of HTML or graphical emails, Constant Contact can be great choice as an email marketing tool. Again, they’re geared primarily for marketers who have lists in the hundreds, thousands or low to mid tens of thousands.

Tool #5: InfusionSoft

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

InfusionSoft is the tool of choice for serious marketers. If you run a six figure online business or have a list larger 50,000 subscribers, this may be the tool for you. InfusionSoft combines your shopping cart with email marketing, so you can do complex things like segregate your buyers from your subscribers or mail specific sequences to specific people. You can also send physical postcards from InfusionSoft. InfusionSoft isn’t cheap. The monthly subscription is in the hundreds, and there’s a four figure setup fee. It’s geared towards companies that are already successful and need powerful solutions, rather than startups.

Tool #6: GetResponse

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

GetResponse is a solid autoresponder choice for small businesses. It’s also geared primarily towards list sizes of mid tens of thousands or fewer. They have a strong reputation in the industry and offer a wide variety of features.

Tool #7: 1ShoppingCart

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

If you want to integrate your email with your shopping cart but don’t quite want to spring for InfusionSoft, 1ShoppingCart could be your answer. 1ShoppingCart is a one stop solution for payment processing and email marketing. It allows you to segregate lists and mail only buyers or your entire list. It’s one of the more reputable shopping cart services on the net.

Be warned however, their deliverability rates simply aren’t as high as a dedicated email marketing service. You save time and money by just having one shopping cart rather than a shopping cart and an autoresponder, but it’s not without tradeoffs.

Tool #8: Autoresponse Plus (ARP Reach)

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

Autoresponse Plus, also known as ARP Reach, is the autoresponder of choice for doing co-registration. You can certainly use the software to do standard email marketing as well. However, if you’re buying leads and need those fresh leads to be mailed instantly, Autoresponse Plus has one of the most solid reputations in the industry.

Tool #9: Campaign Monitor

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

Campaign Monitor is email marketing built for the data driven business. All your data, including open rates and clicks, can be tracked using a Google Analytics-like interface.

If you want to split test emails or carefully track what topics do better than others, give Campaign Monitor a spin.

Tool #10: Office AutoPilot

Office Autopilot is a tool that adds a layer of sophistication to the standard autoresponder service. You can almost “program” Office Autopilot to do various different tasks with their if-then rules.

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

Essentially, you can tell Office Autopilot what to do if certain things occur. For example, if a customer places an order, you can send an order to your fulfillment house to fulfill that order. Or if a customer leaves, you can send them a last minute special offer. Just select the trigger for the action, then select what list it applies to then select what to do when that action is trigger.

Top ten email marketing

Top ten email marketing

Office Autopilot plans all start at above $200 a month. These are the top 10 autoresponder and email marketing tools on the market today. You have options all the way from free to several hundred dollars a month, from basic functionality to complex analytics and shopping cart integration. The one you pick depends entirely on where your business is and what it needs.

Bonus Tool:

This is our preferred tool. Not only an email marketing tool, but a sales customer relationship manager. A simple CRMsoftware for managing the important relationships in your small business. With the easy-to-use toolset, you ll be amazed at how relationships seem to grow automatically.

    BCD Travel changes top leadership

By: BCD Travel | Posted: May 13, 2014

John Snyder, BCD Travel’s former president and chief operating officer, has become president and chief executive officer of the company. The move took effect May 1, and coincided with company executive Mike Janssen’s promotion to chief operating officer. Janssen retains his current responsibilities as president of the Americas region.

The changes follow Joop Drechsel’s decision to step down as CEO of BCD Travel to focus more on his responsibilities as CEO of BCD Group, the private holding company for BCD Travel and several other firms.

“These changes are a natural progression for our leaders,” Drechsel said. “This is the team that has led BCD Travel to consistent success in sales, customer retention and expansion, and I believe that John and Mike, along with our Global Chief Financial Officer Stephan Baars, are uniquely positioned to lead the company through its next era of growth.”

Since joining BCD Travel in 1992, Snyder has aggressively driven strategic alignment and performance improvements within the company. In 2013, he was named to the 30th annual list of the Top 25 most influential business travel executives, compiled by Business Travel News publisher The BTN Group.

Mike Janssen, a 20-year veteran with BCD Travel, has been instrumental in shaping, strengthening and growing the Americas region and contributing to the company’s overall global growth.

Last year was BCD Travel’s sixth consecutive year with more than US$1 billion in new air sales awarded. The company’s client-retention rate of 97% continued to lead the market. In mid-2013, BCD Travel acquired online business travel company Travelocity Business in one of the largest acquisitions in the history of the corporate travel industry.

BCD Travel has 11,000 employees worldwide and operates in nearly 100 countries. The company reported total sales of US$22.4 billion in 2013. Find out more at

Employees Pick the Top 10 Travel Companies

Orbitz, Southwest, and HomeAway earn top scores from employees for perks, CEO performance, and business outlook.

    Jun 23, 2014 at 11:55AM

Hotels, booking and review sites, and a lone airline made the list of top travel-sector employers in the 2014 Glassdoor  Travel Industry Report Card. The career site compiled its list based on verified employee reviews submitted over the past 12 months, along with employee ratings of their companies’ CEOs and their opinions on whether business will improve, decline, or hold steady for the next six months.

    Top travel-workplace cultures

Orbitz Worldwide (NYSE:OWW ) tops this year’s list. The travel-planning and booking site earned high ratings from its employees for CEO performance and a supportive, perk-heavy work environment — including, unsurprisingly, “a very liberal vacation policy.”

Next on the list is Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV ). the only airline to place among the top 10. Along with Orbitz, Southwest also recently earned a spot on Glassdoor’s 2014 Best Places to Work, a list that includes companies from all sectors. One employee praised the “freedom to grow and develop as an individual.” And Southwest has a reputation for encouraging its employees to be creative.

The hottest hotel brands for workers

Four hotel brands made this year’s top 10. Privately held Omni Hotels rated fourth   and had the most positive business outlook ratings of the group — 88% of employees said they expect business to get better in the coming half-year.

The other hotels on the list are Marriott International ‘s (NASDAQ:MAR ) Ritz-Carlton chain, and Canadian chains Fairmont Hotels Resorts and Four Seasons Hotels. Four Seasons has a long reputation for employee satisfaction, with a low turnover rate and 17 years on Fortune ‘s list of Best Companies to Work For.

Vacation-rental company HomeAway (NASDAQ:AWAY ) surpassed rival Airbnb, which didn’t make the list, but it’s facing brand-new competition in the luxury segment from Four Seasons. The hotel chain announced its new Four Seasons Vacation Rental site this week, with a portfolio of upscale properties from the Gulf Coast to the Indian Ocean.

    The rest of the best

Rounding out this year’s top travel companies to work for are timeshare operator Marriott Vacation Club, TripAdvisor (NASDAQ:TRIP ). a travel review and research company, and SeaWorld Entertainment   (NYSE:SEAS ) .

SeaWorld has faced questions about its animal handling policies and employee safety practices since the release of the documentary film “Blackfish” in 2013. Despite protests by animal-welfare groups, an attempt in the California legislature to ban orca shows, and proposed legislation in the U.S. House to update marine-mammal standards of care, CEO Jim Atchison received the highest employee rating on the list.

Top-rated employers in a thriving industry

These companies stand out not just for their reputation among their employees but for doing well despite a slow overall recovery. Travel and tourism is one of the brightest spots in the economy, with more than 19,200 jobs added in May alone.

“Since losing nearly half a million jobs during the Great Recession, the travel industry has added 749,000 jobs and has outpaced job creation in the rest of the economy by 49%,” said David Huether, senior vice president for research and economics at the U.S. Travel Association, after the release of May job numbers. That’s good news for investors in the travel sector, and good news for workers who are looking for stability — especially if it comes with lots of vacation time.

Warren Buffett’s biggest fear is about to come true

Warren Buffett just called this emerging technology a “real threat” to his biggest cash-cow. While Buffett shakes in his billionaire-boots, only a few investors are embracing this new market which experts say will be worth over $2 trillion. It won’t be long before everyone on Wall Street wises up, that’s why The Motley Fool is releasing this timely investor alert. Click here  to learn more about what’s keeping Buffett up at night and the one public company we’re calling the “brains behind” the technology.

Best Cheap Trips – Top 10 Cheap Vacation Spots #gullivers #travel

    #best cheap vacations

The best cheap trips could fill an endless list that covers the entire planet. Which are the best for you depends only on your interests, budget, and the amount of time you have. In fact, if you’re looking for the top 10 cheap vacation spots in the world, you are more apt to find a list of the top 1,000, maybe even the top 1,000 per country or region—that’s plenty for planning amazing cheap vacations .

Cheap US vacation destinations top the list of the most economical for residents of the United States, especially if you are looking for a quick weekend getaway. Many of these will be found very close to your home, no matter where you live. Leaf peeping during the fall foliage season in New Hampshire or Vermont can be done on a shoestring budget with expenses for gas and food as the most costly items, if you have a recreational vehicle or camping gear. You can travel to fabulous beaches on the Great Lakes for very little money. If you live in landlocked Wausau Wisconsin or Columbus Ohio, go whitewater rafting on the Russian River or travel through the magnificent California sequoia forests in a weekend. Or you might spend days in the Smithsonian Institution Museums in Washington, D.C. and never pay an entry fee.

High on the list of cheap US vacation destinations are the country’s many national and state parks and its historic landmarks. The most visited national park is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that straddles the border between North Carolina and Tennessee. Here you will find more than 800 miles of hiking trails, numerous campgrounds, cabin rentals, and rustic lodges. Next on the list is the magnificent Grand Canyon, followed by equaling breathtaking Yosemite and Yellowstone—all with inexpensive lodging options. Florida and Hawaii top the list of cheap US vacation destinations for beaches, and both offer plenty of other attractions from championship golf courses and beautiful rainforests to Disneyworld and the Everglades. And, of course, there are cheap Las Vegas vacations. where even the finest hotels offer discounted rooms.

To find the best cheap trips elsewhere in the world, you want to look for places where your dollar goes the furthest. These places are usually developing countries, although Spain, Portugal, and Greece in Europe have historically been relatively inexpensive places to travel. An emerging market here can be found in the countries that were once behind the Iron Curtain, including Croatia and Slovenia, which both have lovely Adriatic beaches and rich historic heritages. Also in the top 10 cheap vacation spots in Europe are the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and Poland. These countries have huge tracts of wilderness areas preserved because the former communist countries kept locals and visitors away from the forested areas along the borders with Western Europe.

A list of the top 10 cheap vacation spots in developing countries might begin with Turkey, a country in both Europe and Asia. Exotic Istanbul is a thriving metropolis full of magnificent Byzantine and Ottoman architecture, including Topkapi Palace and the sublime Hagia Sophia. In the Asia part of Turkey are some of the most important ancient ruins in the world, including Ephesus and the Temple of Aphrodite. The country’s beautiful Mediterranean Turquoise Coast offers some of the best scuba diving and sailing in the region, and all of this at very cheap prices.

More of the best cheap trips in the developing world can be found in Mexico. Central America. and South America. Although the Argentina economy is on the recovery since its 2001 devaluation, there are still fire sale bargains available in this sophisticated country. Honduras and Belize are both emerging destinations in Central America, and Mexico remains a great bargain if you stay away from the most popular resort areas of Cancun, Acapulco, and Puerto Vallarta. Try the scenic Copper Canyon rail trip and the charming colonial towns in the interior, instead. You can also head for Morocco in North Africa with its exotic markets, Moorish fortresses, and often nearly deserted Mediterranean beaches. And finally, Thailand remains on the list of cheap exotic vacation spots, where it has had a place since the 1960s.

No matter where in the world you want to go, you can find a way to get away for cheap, whether this means looking into a vacation package. going to a country where prices are low, or just taking a drive to an interesting destination close to home.

    Top 5 destinations for incentive travel in 2015 #travel #new #york

    #top travel destinations

Top 5 destinations for incentive travel in 2015

    by AYMTM

Planning an incentive trip? Here are our top 5 destinations  for 2015.

Based on enquiries we have received, the places we have visited recently and where we are taking clients to in the coming months, we have compiled our top 5 en vogue destinations for incentive travel in 2015, including our tips for where to stay, where to eat and what to do while you are there.

There are trends in just about everything, from baby names to what people are searching for on the internet this week. Incentive travel  is no different. These trends come from the most visited incentive destinations, new destinations emerging, or a previously popular destination becoming a bit of a has-been!

    1. Cape Town

Cape Town consistently rates as one of the perennial favourites for savvy incentive buyers. It has the favourable rand, new hotels, fantastic restaurants and all the classic ingredients, such as an epic coastline and awesome scenery, to make it our top selling long haul destination. Night flights and minimal time change make it perfect for avoiding jet lag. British Airways offer daily non-stop flights from London Heathrow.

    Stay: One Only Resorts

For luxury and style in Cape Town, our favourite hotel is the One Only Resort. Two restaurants, run by acclaimed chefs -Michelin-starred chef Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa and local celebrity chef Reuben Riffel are connected by a bar and lounge, all with incredible views of Table Mountain.

The hotel is central to just about everything, making it easy to experience the wildlife safaris and wine country excursions that Cape Town has to offer, along with Robben Island and so much more. After all those excursions, you’ll probably want a bit of calm, so we recommend you try the hotel spa, situated on its very own private island and offering every treatment you could possible want, and a few you may not have thought of!

    Eat: The Test Kitchen

For a top dining experience (the best in South Africa, let alone Cape Town!) The Test Kitchen is definitely the place to go. Chef and owner, Luke Dale-Roberts, has been called ‘a truly fantastic chef’ by Heston Blumenthal, which we think is quite a good recommendation!

British chef Luke trained in Europe and has launched restaurants all around Asia. These influences are very apparent on his delectable menu, and the high quality wine list complements perfectly!

If your last supper was eaten at The Test Kitchen, you’d die happy!

    Do: Beach BBQ

There are so many wonderful things to do in Cape Town, but one party we took to Cape Town was very happy with the beach BBQ we organised near the spectacular Cape Point, where surprise kayaks turned up to transport guests to speedboats for a riveting speed ride around the ‘tip of Africa’.

Combine Cape Town with a safari!

    Top 10 Hotel Booking Services of 2016 #vegas #travel #deals

    #compare travel sites

    Hotel Booking Services Review

Hotel Booking Services: What to Look For

The best online booking services provide lots of honest information about the hotels, regardless of their star rating. Sorting features and accessible support give you the most valuable information about a room before you book it. Among this information, look for plenty of customer reviews and images on the hotel profiles. Pictures of the hotels should include shot of multiple rooms, lobbies, the front of the hotel, as well as any special features like pools or casinos associated with it. Regardless of price, the best hotels will have many reviews with high scores.

    Sorting Features

When looking for a hotel, you need to ask hard-hitting questions like, where is the pool? The more people staying with you, the more features you will need in a hotel room. The best booking services online can help you sort through hundreds of thousands of hotels based on these individual needs. You can sort by amenities like swimming pools, childcare or accessibility features. Prices, star ratings and location are also common sorting features. By using these sorting features, the hotel booking site will filter out hotels missing your favorite amenities, so you can find the best fit for your stay.

    Hotel Details

To ensure you don’t accidentally book a five-star roach palace, you’ll want to find a booking service that provides plenty of information about the hotel. The most valuable information includes images of the hotel and assorted rooms in the building, amenities and other features.

Location information and hotel policies can also make a huge difference in your comfort level. Chances are you won’t find a five-star hotel in a bad neighborhood, but that charming bed and breakfast may be twenty miles away from your real destination, so look for readily available maps on the hotel’s profile. Other features like guest reviews, especially from trusted sites like TripAdvisor, give you the inside scoop on the hotel from people who have had first-hand experiences with the facility.

Most of the best ASP.NET Hosts have 99.9% uptime guarantee.

    ASP.NET Hosting Datacenter

This is where is physically located your Windows hosting server. It should provide the highest quality Internet connectivity, security and reliable power systems.

Some Windows hosting providers have datacenters in different locations, so you should check the locations before you sign up.

Most of the best ASP.NET Hosts have their own data centers.

    ASP.NET Hosting Disk Space

This is the amount of hard drive space where are located your files, and databases. The hard drives could be single SATA, SAS or multiple hard drives in RAID. You should be sure that the hard disk space will be enough for your project. Take in mind that the used disk space includes project files, database files and log files. Some hosting providers offer second hard drive for your backups.

    ASP.NET Hosting Monthly Data Transfer

ASP.NET Hosting Bandwidth is used to describe the amount of data that can be transferred to or from the ASP.NET website or Windows server, measured in bytes transferred over a prescribed period of time. This can be more accurately described as “Monthly Data Transfer.”

You could easily calculate your ASP.NET website Monthly Data Transfer, it’s just the Page/File size multiplied by the number of loads (views).

Make sure that your Windows hosting company provides enough Monthly Data Transfer for your needs.

    ASP.NET Hosting Control Panel

You could use an ASP.NET Hosting Control Panel for managing the Web server and installing scripts as well as other services like e-mail. Most popular Windows hosting control panel is Plesk. Some ASP.NET hosting companies offer their own hosting control panel.

The good Windows hosting control panel will make your daily tasks more easily.

    ASP.NET Hosting Price

The ASP.NET Hosting price is very important, but not the most important factor when you are looking for the best ASP.NET Host. It’s more important to receive high quality hosting services than to save few bucks. Also you should take in mind that the cheaper hosting provider today could be the most expensive tomorrow, so look for the better price today but target a quality hosting services in a long term.

    ASP.NET Hosting Money-back Guarantee

This option means that you could sign up with some ASP.NET hosting company and if you are not happy with the service you could get your money back. A very useful option if you are not sure if some Windows hosting company is good for you.

Most of the best ASP.NET Hosts offer at least 30 day money-back guarantee.

    ASP.NET Hosting Add-ons

These are free additional features and preinstalled software as blogs, forums, eCommerce applications, advertising credits etc. Make sure if you need particular add-on that your Windows hosting provider supports it.

Most of the best ASP.NET Hosts offer wide array of features and add-ons.

    ASP.NET Hosting Reviews

There are many ASP.NET hosting reviews in the Internet, but most of them are fake, because are made by concurrent ASP.NET hosting companies. You could read ASP.NET hosting reviews but do not full trust them.

The best way to find if some Windows hosting company is the best for you is to try their services yourself.

    Top ASP.NET Hosting Providers list

The World’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies In Travel

These companies are changing the industry as we know it.

For making the most of its hosts. By this summer, Airbnb will usurp the InterContinental Hotels Group and Hilton Worldwide as the world’s largest hotel chain—without owning a single hotel. The startup, which allows users to rent out their spare rooms or vacant homes to strangers, surpassed 10 million stays on its platform last year, doubled its listings to 550,000 (in 192 countries), and, according to a source familiar with the company’s business, tripled revenue to an estimated $250 million. Befitting its growing might, last fall CEO Brian Chesky poached boutique-hotel pioneer Chip Conley to be its head of global hospitality. Already, Conley has created a baseline nine standards of care for Airbnb hosts to follow as part of a bigger revamp of its mobile tools. Up next, the company is doing a massive rethink on every aspect of the trip experience. “Our goal,” Chesky says, “is to teach a million people hospitality.” Read more

For obliterating the major barrier to wider adoption of electric vehicles. Sure, Tesla has carved out an undisputed lead in the electric-car industry with its revolutionary Model S. But the unveiling of the company’s charging stations were equally noteworthy and less heralded. Billed as “the fastest charging station on the planet”—because it is—the Tesla Supercharger can fuel up a Model S in as little as 40 minutes, removing the so-called range anxiety that has been the biggest bugaboo of EV doubters. But in January, Tesla took another leap: It expanded its rapid-charging station route to more than 70 locations, letting Model S owners drive coast-to-coast for the first time. Read more

For solidifying its place as the world’s travel agent. It’s only a testament to Google’s unmatched ambition that it dominates so many other fields—search, mobile, consumer electronics—and still manages to be the quintessential travel company. The Google Maps mobile app, which it revamped last year, is currently (and unsurprisingly) the most-used app in the world. After the upgrade, each user’s map is personalized with venue suggestions from his search history, and thanks to Google’s $1 billion acquisition of travel startup Waze, users also get real-time traffic and accident updates, which the app will help them navigate via automatic rerouting. Even Google Now, the company’s intelligent predictive assistant, is somewhat of a travel agent, suggesting flights, rental cars, and hotel reservations based on the busy traveler’s time and location. When paired with Google Glass, it becomes the ultimate tool for users to explore the world around them. Read more

For pedal-powering urban transportation networks. The private Portland, Oregon–based company designs and operates bike-sharing systems, which are helping cities of all sizes ease traffic, improve commuting options, and promote convenient exercise. Bike sharing seems self-governing, but behind the scenes, Alta uses vans to shuttle bikes among stations to ensure availability. Using this and other clever techniques, it manages systems in New York, Boston, and Chicago, as well as in Columbus, Ohio, and Chattanooga, Tennessee—two of its newest installations. Plans for 2014 include adding four new programs and expanding the two largest, in New York and Chicago. Read more

For taking China’s surging middle class on luxe travel tours. When Mei Zhang started Wild China 13 years ago, she introduced international jet-setters to China—but the idea was always to serve Chinese clients traveling abroad. Now that China’s emerging middle class is booming—from 4% of the population in 2000 to 66% in 2012—they’re her fastest-growing clientele group. Zhang, who has lived in China and the United States, can offer a sensibility other traditional tour groups cannot, from journeys through the Tibetan Kingdom of Bhutan to canoeing and halibut fishing in Alaska. “We can educate,” Zhang says. “The essence of travel is to understand and live the life of the destination area.” Read more

For going the extra mile for its constituents. With its quirky, pink-mustachioed community of drivers—there is one with a Ghostbusters-themed car and another who holds cookie-baking contests—Lyft has managed to avoid much of the public criticism that its rival Uber has allowed itself to become mired in. Lyft’s services let ordinary people become drivers and then matches them with passengers who request rides through its mobile app. The company has surpassed 1 million rides (it averages 30,000 per week), expanded to a total of 19 cities, and secured $60 million in funding from renowned venture firm Andreessen Horowitz. The resources will be put to good use: Lyft recently announced a $1 million personal insurance policy for drivers, only one example of Lyft’s determination to keep its community—and regulators—happy.

For riding out the storms with its users. There are thousands of weather apps—maybe even 100 good ones—but WeatherSphere puts them all to shame when it comes to travel. The company, founded by ex-eBayer Raghav Gupta, already had a suite of weather apps (including the No. 1 paid weather app, NOAA Hi-Def Radar) when it added to the mix TurnCast, a navigation app that uses a combination of satellite radar and mathematical algorithms to allow users to navigate around inclement weather. Like other up-and-coming weather products, WeatherSphere’s apps also employ “nowcasting,” a feature that informs users the exact time a storm will hit and how long it will last. While TurnCast only hit app stores several months ago, WeatherSphere has amassed 1.7 million paid users, which is a feat in such a crowded field.

For putting a tour guide in customers’ phones. Ruzwana Bashir’s travel-experience site is often described as “beautiful” and “magazinelike” for the way it uses photography and big-name testimonials to help curate trips and events for vacationers. But Peek, which takes a 15% to 30% commission from the event tickets it sells—Disneyland passes, wine-blending lessons in Napa—also stands out among the travel-startup crowd because of its growth. The company has been around for a little more than a year and has already expanded to 19 cities, including London and Paris. In December, Peek made a play for travelers’ pockets with a mobile app that curates local activities for instant purchase.

For introducing us to the virtual flight-assistant future. Over the past couple of years, strange new airline employees have been popping up in airports—they’re polite, knowledgeable, and actually helpful. Perhaps it’s because they’re actually holograms, made by the New York-based developer of airport tech, Tensator. Lauded by some as the employee of the future—and not just at airports—Tensator’s holograms are projected in HD, speak in multiple languages, and answer passengers’ questions about security, flight and gate locations, and airport navigation. The holograms, which sport such cute names as Carla and Paige, are currently located at Dubai International, Washington Dulles, and Boston’s Logan International airports.

For checking in with users to fuel its international expansion. The app that lets users find cheap hotel rooms at the last minute is now available at 250 destinations in 17 countries, expanding its service further into Europe with the additions of Germany and Switzerland last year. The company also added a couple of innovative features: Users can now “gift” a room to someone else, and “Snap Your Stay” encourages users to snap, edit, and upload shots of their hotel rooms to receive credits ranging from $5 to $10. It’s a smart move on HotelTonight’s part. Instead of hiring professional photographers to get in on the visual shift (like Airbnb does), it crowdsources photos from social media addict customers. The company recently reached another milestone by signing agreements with major hotel brands—including Hyatt and Best Western—to make it easier to negotiate lower reservation rates for guests.

Correction: Tensator is based in New York, not Florida. The entry has been updated and we regret the error.

Top 10 Cheap International Travel Destinations in the World

    By Hope Nardini

I love to travel, but as a college student, jet-setting doesn t always fit my bank account. Weekend getaways. staycations. and last-minute discounts help me make the most of my travel budget, but what about budget travel to more exotic destinations?

I ve found that visiting places with favorable exchange rates has worked out well for international destinations especially when I can also find the best airline ticket deals to get there. Some of the main factors I consider when evaluating a potential destination are: cost of living, visa fees, airfare, activities, culture, and safety. Using this strategy, I ve been able to travel to five South American countries in the past two years on a relatively tight budget.

With all of this background in mind, here is my list of the top ten budget travel destinations, with the underlying theme being very favorable exchange rates and extremely low costs of living.

Best Cheap Travel Destinations Around the World

    1. Uganda

Kampala is one of the cheapest cities in the world, and Uganda, known as The Pearl of Africa, hosts Lake Victoria, which is the second largest lake in the world. The official language is Swahili, but English is widely spoken, especially among the staff at hotels and tour companies.

Kampala is at the top of my travel bucket list because it s a hub for adventure activities such as whitewater rafting on the Nile River and bungee jumping. The city of Jinja also offers quad biking and river boarding (boogie boarding down the river).

    2. Jamaica

Jamaica has plenty of luxury options, but thanks to the island s new international airport, deals on 3,000 new hotel rooms, and clean beaches, Budget Travel has rated Jamaica one of the top budget travel destinations for 2011 .

International airfare has been pretty affordable lately. I checked and round-trip flights from the eastern U.S. are under $400, which is cheap enough for me to justify a visit to an affordable hotel for a long weekend. Homemade Jamaican jerk chicken is a great plus too!

The only reason Jamaica isn t number one on this list is because I avoid hurricane season (July and August), but I d rather visit during the winter when I m craving some sunshine anyway.

    3. Bangladesh

Bangladesh was rated Lonely Planet s number one value destination in 2011. According to Lonely Planet, you can buy meals for under a dollar and enjoy river cruises for rates lower than what you d spend in nearby India. Bangladesh may be a non-traditional travel destination, but don t overlook it.

With the exchange rate, I ll be able to stretch my travel budget enough to sail by the Irrawaddy River Dolphins and see tigers in the Sunderbans National Park outside of Khulna. Bangladesh also has a wide range of handmade crafts such as coconut masks, bamboo sculptures, and folk dolls. Leatherwork and pearls are also popular exports.

The U.S. State Department warns that tourist visas granted upon arrival are usually only valid for 15 days, so you shouldn t expect to have an extended stay without a fine or special permission.

    4. Hungary

I m not sure exactly when Hungary came onto my travel radar. Budapest has gotten a lot of publicity lately for its beauty as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Fortunately, Hungary is also an affordable travel destination. You can get huge meals in markets for $5, public transportation via train for $1, and hotels for $20 a night.

The city seems like a curious mixture of 14th century architecture and modernization. Highlights include the gorgeous architecture of the Fisherman s Bastion, the Buda Royal Palace, and the tranquil Margaret Island.

    5. Ecuador

I spent an entire summer in Quito, and there s still so much I haven t seen. With just $3 for lunch, I bought soup, rice, chicken, juice, and Jell-O. A bus across the city cost 50 cents, and because Ecuador uses the U.S. dollar, I didn t even have to worry about losing money in the exchange. I wish I had time to explore beach towns like Montanita and cloud forests like Mindo.

The beauty of Ecuador is that it has a rich natural ecosystem, from the Andes Mountains running through the country to the amazing coastal rain forest, yet you re also near incredible major cities like Quito and Guayaquil.

    6. Thailand

I ve heard that the street food in Thailand is world-class. Blogger Richard Barrow tried a Thai Food Challenge and ate street food in Thailand for every meal for an entire month. His spending averaged less than $4 a day on food. At the end of the challenge, he had tried one hundred different meals. How can you beat the price, variety, and deliciousness?

It s no surprise, then, that Thai cooking classes are so popular, but there are plenty of things to do for budget travelers as well: relax on the beaches, explore elegant Buddhist temples, shop at the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, and check out the busy colorful city of Bangkok.

    7. Peru

Don t be misled by the prices at Machu Picchu; Peru is really a very affordable travel destination. I lived in the Ancash region, just north of Lima, for almost four months last fall. A typical three-course lunch was as low as $2 in the town of Huaraz. Hostels throughout the country are budget-friendly as well. A typical bed in a dorm room cost $8 to $10, which usually included a simple breakfast of juice, bread, and fruit.

I also found public transportation to be affordable, although airfare within the country is expensive. For example, a bus from Cusco to Lima cost me $37, while the cheapest round trip plane ticket I found was $160.

    8. Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is an attractive budget travel destination for baseball fans and suntanners alike. Santo Domingo, the capital city, was named a UNESCO World Heritage site because there are still colonial elements from Christopher Columbus s arrival in 1492. The island comes alive during Carnaval Dominicano in February and Semana Santa in April.

The Dominican Republic is home to a wide range of lodging options to fit any budget, from luxury resorts to affordable hostels. Although it s not the cheapest country in the region, there is a good mix of sun, safety, and affordability.

    9. Croatia

AskMen named Croatia one of its Top Ten Cheap Vacations. and they say hostels go for about $10 per night. I visited the city of Dubrovnik a few years ago, and I remember being able to see my toes while swimming in the crystal-clear water. I also remember seeing the bright orange roofs on buildings showing which of them were bombed in the Yugoslavian War from 1991 to 1995.

While food and lodging were both relatively cheap in the Pearl of the Adriatic, I did have a problem finding shop owners and waiters who spoke English. I should have bought a Croatian phrase book.

    10. Argentina

I took part in a college study abroad program in Buenos Aires. so Argentina holds a special place in my heart. The cost of living is cheaper than in similar cities in the United States, but inflation is an issue with prices rising for the past few years. For example, I noticed that groceries were cheaper when I was there in December 2009 than when I visited exactly one year later. A bottle of Coke cost 3.50 pesos then and rose to 6 pesos in 2010. However, public transportation remains affordable as does lodging.

There are other equally exciting cities that are cheaper than Buenos Aires like Cordoba, Salta, and Jujuy.

    Final Word

I m grateful that I can still fit international travel in my budget. When I save up for a trip, I plan my itinerary accordingly. Choosing destinations with a lower cost of living allows me to explore new destinations for a longer period of time.

These are just the top 10 places on my list. How about you? Have you been to any of these countries? Are there any affordable places on your travel bucket list?

Top five Christmas travel deals. #travel #writing

    #travel deal

    By Kate Hamman,

Now that the pilgrim hats and decorative cornucopias have been carefully packed away until next year, our attention turns to the next holiday quickly approaching. I have received numerous questions about vacation options over Christmas, including where to go, best deals, and last-minute sales. Now I’m not going to lie to you, especially not this close to Santa’s big day: Traveling over Christmas typically costs more than other times of the year. You will save quite a bit more by waiting a few weeks and going in early January, but if your heart is set on hitting the road over the holidays maybe consider it a gift you give yourself then I am here to help.

There are some things to keep in mind when searching for deals around the holidays. For instance, the first price you see on most sales will more than likely not be the price you get when you add your travel dates and departure city sadly, it will be higher, so brace yourself. You will also want to check for any blackout dates or valid travel days of the week, as this will also play a factor in your final cost. Lastly, some places also require a minimum night stay, especially during a peak travel time, so be aware of this when deciding where to go.

With all of that in mind, I give you five deals that guarantee a very merry Christmas.

With its close ties to A Christmas Carol. London may be the perfect place to say “Bah Humbug” to being a Scrooge and splurge a bit on a vacation. And Virgin Vacations is making it easy to do just that with its six-night London Fling. The deal starts at just $769 per person (without taxes and fees), and includes round-trip airfare from several departure cities (some cities do not offer flights on December 25), six nights’ accommodations, daily breakfast, hotel taxes and service charges, and fuel surcharges. You must book by December 17.

    Las Vegas

If your favorite part of the holidays is the twinkling Christmas lights, then look no further than Las Vegas, which has lights so bright that the city can probably be seen from space. Southwest Vacations is offering four-night packages to Sin City starting as low as $32 per person, per night (without taxes and fees). The deal includes round-trip airfare from Los Angeles (other departure cities are available for a higher cost); accommodations at a MGM property, such as Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and Mirage; hotel taxes; and first and second checked bags free. Plus, stay three or more nights and receive one free night, or stay four or more nights and receive two free nights. Black-out dates start on December 28 through January 1, so plan your travel dates accordingly. Book by December 3.

Madrid invites you to celebrate the holidays in style in the capital of Spain, with its Madrid At Its Best package starting at $899 per person (without taxes and fees) during Christmas. The deal includes round-trip airfare from New York City or Newark (other departure cities available at a higher cost), six nights’ accommodations, daily breakfast, hotel taxes and service charges, and fuel surcharges. Book by December 3.

    Sunny destinations

For those of you still undecided on your destination, Funjet is offering holiday savings from a slew of different cities, including Boston, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Milwaukee, to places like Los Cabos, Jamaica, San Diego, and Puerto Vallarta. Three-night vacations start at $499 per person (without taxes and fees), and include airfare and lodging at an all-inclusive hotel. Travel is valid from December 16 through January 2, but book quickly before the best routes sell out.

    Future savings

Expedia is offering the gift that keeps on giving this year, with its Holiday Kick Back program. Book a vacation package by December 31 for travel before January 3, and you’ll receive a $200 coupon to use on a flight and hotel stay of five or more nights before April 30. You must book your stay by March 31. This could pay off if you are planning another trip in the near future, and happen to snag a good deal on your destination.

These are only a few examples of ways to save this Christmas season. Remember that a little patience goes a long way when planning any vacation, but especially one over the holidays. Also, don’t forget to read the fine print it’ll save you a few headaches. But more importantly, don’t let anything dampen your holiday spirit. features expert travel advice and unbiased coverage of travel deals.

Top 10 reasons to visit Portland, Oregon – Lonely Planet #cheap

    #travel portland

Top 10 reasons to visit Portland, Oregon

One of the world’s great towns for beer, weirdness, cheap food, funky neighbourhoods, forest hikes and much more, Portland is the kind of city you visit for two days and then move to. Endlessly entertaining and intriguing, it’s easily walked and explored by bike and most locals will tell you the famous rain is merely a bonus. We’ve picked 10 reasons why you should already be planning your trip to Portland.

    Beer, beautiful beer

At least 30 breweries dot Portland and they’re not turning out bland lagers. Rather the vast and funky range of brews is matched by the vast and funky range of breweries. You can quaff a Copacetic IPA in the minimalist surrounds of the fittingly named Amnesia Brewery (832 N Beech St) or a Rise Up Red Ale at Hopworks Urban Brewery. which nails two local priorities by serving organic beer and having a bar cyclists can ride up to. Better yet are purely neighbourhood bars, like LaurelThirst where you can try any of the many local brews.

    Pedal power

Drivers in Portland often think the city puts bikes first and they’re right. Streets with wide bike lanes network across the city and a lack of major hills makes it easy for people of all ages to pedal their way around. You can join the thriving cycling scene by renting a bike at Portland Bicycle Tours .

    Food carts

In a city renowned for its food, you can find some of Portland’s most inventive chefs clustered in pods, preparing meal magic in food carts that range from old vacation trailers to sheds where you’d store your lawnmower. A few faves: the amazing Mexican fare at La Jarochita (SW 5th Ave and SW Oak St, downtown), the garlicky porchetta sandwiches at Lardo and the perfect post-music-club Belgian fries at Potato Champion.

    Saw it on Portlandia

An outlandish yet humorously insightful look at all things Portland, this hit comedy series has defined the city with its iconic line about Portland being ‘where young people go to retire’. The Peabody Award-winning Portlandia skewers local pretensions and is a great introduction for those planning to visit.

    Weird on show

‘Keep Portland Weird’ is more than an overly used, clichéd bumper-sticker – it’s an ethos that ensures that a fully tattooed guy dressed as a transvestite clown riding a 10-foot-tall unicycle barely gets a second glance. Some places milk it, like the over-hyped Voodoo Donuts, which features weird names for weird doughnut combos, but the normalcy of the strange is endlessly fascinating.

    Funky hoods

Downtown Portland is compact, historic, walkable and has a great riverfront park but the real fun is out in the compass-spanning neighbourhoods. Three winners: southeast’s Hawthorn Street, with its cool blend of shops, cafes and bars; the north’s Mississippi Avenue, which has an edgier, grittier mix plus a fab food cart pod; and northeast’s Alberta Street, featuring galleries, shops, great little cafes and bars plus a monthly street party called Last Thursday that’s pure Weird Portland.

    Rain? Big deal!

Okay, it often rains every day in January and it rains a lot nine months a year (summer is sunny and warm), but it rarely rains very hard and all that water keeps things really green – including the luxuriant moss that grows on everything. It also keeps people inside the bars listening to bands hoping to follow local greats The Decemberists, Modest Mouse et al.

    Experiencing nature

Round a corner in Portland and you’ll likely be startled by the perfectly conical profile of Mt Hood, the 11,249-foot (3429m) volcano some 50 miles (80km) east of the city. On clear days its snow-capped summit looks startlingly close. Just west of downtown, Forest Park sprawls over 5100 acres in the hills; more than 70 miles (113km) of trails wander through dense forests of evergreens. Finally, see and smell the true meaning of Portland’s moniker ‘The city of roses’ at the spectacular International Rose Test Garden.

    Farmers markets

In an episode of Portlandia, the solution to the city’s excessive produce bounty is ‘We can pickle that!’ But skip the screwtops and head to the farmers markets for famous berries, mushrooms from the rain-saturated forests, artisan-baked goods, ubiquitous food carts, prepared foods and a community vibe where love is celebrated amidst the tomatoes. Try the main Portland Farmers Market downtown or the buzzing neighbourhood version in Hollywood.

    Bang for your buck

Pints of local beer are often under $4, Happy Hour food specials for under $5 are legion, food carts are bargains and all those underworked hipsters ensure that prices for almost everything else remain low (plenty of weekend hotel rooms are under $100, trams in the centre are free and cover charges are uncommon). Plus weirdness is always free.

Analyst favourites: Top three US equity income funds #top #equity #income

Analyst favourites: Top three US equity income funds

For income investors, the US equity market offers an abundance of opportunities. The trick is finding the right fund and manager that can identify and take advantage of those companies offering the best yield.

Rob Morgan, investment and pension analyst at Charles Stanley Direct, picks three US equity income funds worthy of a place in any income-seeker s portfolio.

    1. Jupiter North American Income

This fund managed by Sebastian Radcliffe is less of a pure income fund and more income and growth . He looks to identify companies that are able to grow their dividends potentially quite quickly from a low base, combining these with more established dividend payers.

This could result in a better result for investors seeking the best total returns, though for those that are seeking to maximise short term income the yield may seem unappealing. However, it is my pick in this sub-sector as I rate him highly as a stockpicker and he runs a high conviction portfolio in this fund.

    2. JPM US Equity Income

Clare Hart and Jonathan Simon run a fairly traditional equity income strategy and use a fair bit of mid-cap exposure, which has added value since launch nearly five years ago. It is also a fairly broad-based fund with more than 100 holdings making it a decent fund to consider for wide exposure to the US market as well as for yield.

    3. Neptune US Income

While short term performance has been behind the sector, this has much to do with the relative under performance of some emerging markets-facing stocks. It is possible the fund could come back strongly should these enjoy a renaissance.

The manager, Rebecca Edelman, is keen to have a balanced portfolio rather than one weighted towards traditional dividend-paying areas such as telecoms, utilities and consumer staples. Only the latter represents a significant part of the fund. Elsewhere there is significant exposure to economically sensitive areas such IT, financials, industrials and retail.

Top 10 Web Development Apps for Android Devices #web #development #tools, android

Top 10 Web Development Apps for Android Devices

As an avid Android device user with both an Android tablet and phone, of course I am always looking for apps that would be of use to web developers. After a bit of searching I was able to find apps for just about every aspect of web development, from the web server itself to an FTP client to move the files, to a source code viewer that let’s you view the source code on any web page, analytics tools to allow you to analyze your website, to custom apps for the major CMSes WordPress, Drupal and Joomla!.

Using the Android web development apps I found, I was able to create a web page from scratch, test it on a web server that is running on my Android device from anywhere on my local network, move the file over to my external web host using an FTP app so it’s live on the web, SSH to my external web server to work with the file live, and the page was ready for the masses, able to be viewed by anyone with an internet connection. My inner geek was smiling!

Since I have several sites which run on the Joomla! and Drupal CMSes, I can now potentially create content and publish that content directly from my Android device using the Joomla! and Drupal Android apps.

While the likelyhood that I would need to be able to create content or handle a “web emergency” while I was out on the go is not likely for me personally, I could easily see a blogger writing their latest work while actually on the scene of an event, and then using one of the tools we will discuss here, they would be able to instantly publish the blog to their website, complete with images. Yes, you could actually update your website while you’re sitting on the beach enjoying the breeze, or more likely, while you are on the scene of some major event, be it a trade conference or accident scene.

Let’s get started, and take a look at some Android web development apps.

AndFTP is an FTP client app that allows you to transfer files to your web server via not only FTP, but also via SFTP, SCP and FTPS protocols. You can set up several different FTP servers using AndFTP, and it also comes with a device file browser and a FTP file browser (which means you can see the files both on your Android device as well as the remote server). Like a typical FTP client, you are able to rename, delete, copy, set permissions and create folders.

    JavaScript Reference

The JavaScript Reference app is the only reference app I have mentioned here, not because there aren’t reference apps and cheat sheets for other web development languages (there are HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and many other cheat sheets apps available), but because this one is derived from the W3CSchool’s own documentation, and uses a clean, easy-to-use interface.

Properties and methods of each object are detailed, along with examples for each. This is a great resource, and covers all built-in JavaScript objects, browser objects and HTML DOM objects.

    kWS – Android Web Server

The kWS – Android Web Server is a very basic web server that runs on your Android device. It isn’t a surprise that a web server can run on an Android device–after all, Android is based on the Linux operating system. What is surprising is that it is so very lightweight and fast that if you are loading pages from it through your local wifi network, you won’t be able to notice a difference from any other web server that you access.

The kWS web server implements HTTP-1.0 and is capable of hosting most file types, and works like a typical web server. You won’t be likely to be running your website off of this server permenantly, but for testing out a page, it comes in very handy.

    Analytix for Google Analytics

If you are used to working with Google Analytics (GA) for your website, you will be very likely to want to install and use the Analytix app. It provides you with access to most of the details from your Google Analytics account–almost in real time. It provides hourly views and clean visualizations, which comes in very handy for SEO work.

There are other GA apps out there for Android, but in my opinion, Analytix is the only one worth installing and working with.

    View Web Source

Although it may seem that being able to view the source of a web page is something common to all web browsers, once you are using an Android device and the stock Android browser (and even other browsers on an Android device), you quickly realize that “View Source” is not a standard function on Android devices. Enter the View Web Source app, which works just as you would expect.

All you have to do is to enter a URL, then you are presented with the page’s source code, which you can then copy to your device’s clipboard for use later.

    WordPress for Android

If you are a typical developer, you have probably worked with at least one of the top open source content management systems (CMSes). I looked for Android apps which would allow me to work with each of them, and was able to find one or more apps for each CMS. We’ll start with the WordPress for Android app.

WordPress for Android is, like WordPress itself, an open source app that allows you to create new posts, edit content, view stats and manage comments–and it comes with built-in notifications, so you’re kept up to date as you work.

    Drupal Editor

Having a Drupal site myself, I definitely wanted to check out the Drupal Editor app.

Like the other CMS apps, it allows you to create, post and edit articles on the site. The Blog API has to be enabled in order for the Drupal Editor app to work, but if you run a Drupal website, this is a simple tasks.

    Joooid 1.1 Joomla! Editor

Since I also have several Joomla! websites, I was eager to try out the Joooid 1.1 Editor app. It allows you to publish articles that include HTML text, images, galleries and maps which include the GPS-determined position where the article was published.

Like the others, I installed the Joooid 1.1 app to my tablet, installed the plug-in which went with it on my Joomla! website, and tried it out. Nada–several error messages later and some Google searching and I found out that the version of Joomla! I was running (version 1.6), was not compatible with Jooid 1.1, but that Joooid 1.2 beta would indeed do the job.

I downloaded and installed the beta plugin and Joooid 1.2 beta Joomla! Editor. following the installation instructions on their website, and within 10 minutes I was creating content and working with my Joomla! website–through my Android device.

    Webmaster’s HTML Editor Lite

Sure, Android devices come with a rudamentary text editor, but it’s not really made with the intention of people using it for editing web pages. That’s where Webmaster’s HTML Editor Lite comes to mind. It not only allows you to edit HTML, it also enables you to edit and work with CSS, PHP and JavaScript, and features syntax highlighting and code completion.

    ConnectBot SSH Client

While you may not have a reason to use an SSH or telnet client often, when you need one, nothing else will do. I found the ConnectBot SSH Client app to be the full-featured SSH client I was looking for.

ConnectBot is a Secure Shell client that allows you to connect to your web server, so you are able to transfer files back and forth, make edits and run commands on your remote web host, directly from your Android device.

We’ve pointed out some web development apps for Android devices that can save you time and provide you with a way to let your inner geek shine–because it’s just too much fun to be able to create, develop and deploy websites–using your smartphone or tablet. And we only scratched the surface–there are countless other web development reference apps, knowledge testing apps, cheat code apps and more for the Android-loving web developer.

The Top 10 Benefits of Hosted PBX #top #hosted #pbx

    CTI Group’s Actionable Insights Blog

As business environments change, so does the way we communicate. Telephone service is becoming much more than a dial tone. Employees are demanding extensive features such as the ability to transition seamlessly between desk phone and mobile. Traditionally, these features are extremely expensive for an on-premises phone system. These costly systems require dedicated data center space, endless equipment, overpriced desk phones, and extensive wiring to connect to the local carrier. It is easy to see why organizations are switching to cloud based PBX to eliminate on-site hardware and maintenance.

Infonetics Research expects the global cloud PBX and unified communications market to reach $12 billion in 2018. It is predicted that there will be over 60 million hosted seats in service, while on-premises PBX sales drop substantially. It is not hard to see why organizations are ready to make the switch. Hosted PBX offers quite the list of benefits.

Hosted PBX does not require a large up-front capital investment, nor does it require ongoing maintenance and personnel to manage the system.

Hosted PBX allows organizations to service various customers around the world, no matter what time it is at headquarters. Local numbers can ring to call centers in another area without the customer even knowing.

Work is no longer a place we go. Work is something we do, whether it is at home or the local coffee shop. Hosted PBX allows employees to work anywhere, anytime, and on any device they choose. One device can even support two numbers, and business calls placed on the mobile can appear as if they came from the person’s desk. Wait, what is a desk?

A real-time costing using PBX data allows organizations to compare carrier costs and cost allocation with real-time fraud detection, analysis of over, under, or unused assets with trend reporting; measurement of key performance indicators across your voice network; comparison of different carrier rates in multiple currencies; and mobile spend management.

Advanced calling features are essential to meet employee and customer demands. Hosted PBX provides access to voicemail, email, remote call management, auto attendant, directory, music on hold, and voice messaging. A full unified communications suite also allows interconnectivity between email, voicemail, presence, IM, video, and more. And on top of all those features, hosted interaction recording allows you to capture all of those advanced forms of communication and analyze the data collected. All of these features allow organizations to provide customers with quick, reliable, effective services.

Being able to scale and grow your phone system as your business grows is a huge benefit of using hosted PBX. Unlike, on-premises systems, hosted PBX allow organizations to easily add or remove lines without hassle or additional capital investment. And on top of that, you only pay for what you use.

Some businesses rely on their systems for critical tasks. Financial traders and health care organizations cannot risk interruption and downtime when they get a heavy call volume. Redundancy, up time guarantees, and reliability come with using a hosted PBX.

Many people still believe that hosted PBX systems have low voice quality, but that has changed with advancements in technology. No reason to worry about clear calls when using a hosted PBX.

Calling long distance is still expensive regardless if you are using an on-premises system or a hosted PBX, but organizations can manage those costs by using authorization features.

Employees are bringing their own devices whether companies want them to or not. Hosted PBX provides the simplicity of combining personal and company lines on one device, so that employees do not have to give out their personal number to use their mobile phone for business calls. Calls can easily be rerouted if that employee where to leave or be terminated.

The switch from an on-premises phone system to a hosted PBX is a no brainer. With lower capital investment, and lower costs of ownership, your organization can still enjoy quality voice services as well as an abundance of value added service that keep your business competitive in the marketplace. The business environment is constantly changing. You want to make sure your phone system can keep up.

Top 7 Tips for Traveling Around the World #gorilla #travel

Top 7 Tips for Traveling Around the World

    Aug 23, 2013 | Updated Oct 23, 2013

So you’ve decided to travel around the world. This is an excellent thing to do. It’s a precious place, this planet. We should see it. Forthwith are seven tips for turning your dream into reality.

    1) Go to school in Canada. Let’s deal with the elephant in the room right here at the top – money, or the lack thereof. For the last 10 years or so, I’ve been wondering where, exactly, did all the young American backpackers go? Back in ye olden days – the Nineties – they were everywhere, whether teaching English in Bratislava, obtaining onward visas in Istanbul, or trekking in the Himalayas. Today, sadly, the American backpacker is about as rare as a Snow Leopard. For a long time, I assumed that was simply an unfortunate consequence of 9/11. The world suddenly seemed scary to many. Best to stick close to home. I thought this because, from time to time, I’m kind of a moron. As any twenty-something will tell you, it’s not fear that keeps them tethered to the homeland. It’s debt. No other country in the world asks its young people to begin their march into adulthood with tens, even hundreds, of thousands in student loans.

This is madness, and until this changes you should get your degree in Canada. Or Australia. Or New Zealand. Or somewhere in Asia. Anywhere really. There’s a reason that there are oodles of young Aussies, Germans, Japanese, even Chinese backpackers traipsing around the world. They are unencumbered by debilitating student loans. No such luck for the American Theater Arts major with $120,000 in loans. Let’s be blunt: This person is not going anywhere for a long, long time. Don’t let this be you.

    2) Take the time to do it right. I was in the South Pacific recently, following in the footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson, and while I was in Samoa I met an Argentinean woman, a student of anthropology, who was in the midst of a round-the-world voyage. She had spent three months working as a hotel maid in New Zealand to finance nine months of travel. “My plan is to go to five countries,” she said. “Maybe I will even visit the northern hemisphere.”

I admired both the ambition and the modesty of her plan. Some people travel as if they’re merely checking off items on a to-do list. Malta, Maldives, Morocco, Monaco. Been there, done that, they’ll say. When prodded a little, they’ll concede that they’ve never lingered anywhere for longer than a week or two, before launching into a diatribe about how filthy India is. When asked where in India they went, they’ll mention Delhi and Agra and then speak of the joy they felt when their plane departed after a 10-day jaunt. 10 days? It took me 10 days to figure out how to buy a train ticket in India. It took me another two months before I could do a competent Indian head bobble. These things take time. The goal should never be about collecting passport stamps; it should be about collecting experiences. If you want something more than a bewildering array of first impressions, count on dillydallying.

    3) Make a plan, and then deviate. Having a plan is good. It concentrates the mind and gives the journey purpose. Few things are more enjoyable than lingering over the atlas and plotting a trip. But then situations arise, circumstances change, and we have to adapt. Let’s say it’s been your dream to travel around the world. You’ve given yourself six months to do the journey before starting a new position at corporate HQ. You’re in Cambodia. You become interested in Buddhism. And food. You really, really want to become a Buddhist food blogger in Southeast Asia. Should you do it? Should plans be upended? Yes they should.

    4) Leave the laptop and the tablet at home. I know. This. Is. So. Hard. What about Instagram? And Facebook? How will you cope? A smartphone will do just fine. With a wireless connection, most likely found in a café somewhere, you’ll be able to stay connected just enough to let people know where you are and to check out pertinent online info. Anything more than a smartphone, however, and you’ll find that it is your tech gear and all that it entails – security, usability, access – that dictates the pace of the trip. And that is wrong. It misses the point of the big, life-changing circumnavigation of the world, which is to experience life on the far side of the world. And if you do ultimately decide to become a Buddhist food blogger in Phnom Penh you can have a buddy mail you your precious laptop.

    5) Get vaccinated. Really. I know. Duh. But even professional travel writers have been known to forget. Occasionally, they subsequently come down with, oh, I don’t know, typhoid. Ahem. We don’t need to draw this out, but do yourself a favor and check out all the vaccinations you’ll need. Get them. All of them. Nothing spoils a trip like a bout of yellow fever and diphtheria.

    6) Don’t be a travel snoot. There’s a reason some paths are well-trodden. The Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Pyramids in Giza, Machu Picchu near Cusco; everyone wants to see these places. They’re special. They speak to all of humanity. And very often, while visiting, you will feel as if you are surrounded by all of humanity. Just roll with it. You’ll have plenty of time to visit the more obscure, out-of-the-way places, but you won’t forgive yourself for missing the Great Wall of China.

    7) Write it down. At the end of the day, take some time to write about your experiences in a journal. The simple act of recording the day’s events focuses the mind, etches the memory deeper into the brain, and forces you to mull and think and reflect about the sights and sounds of our great, blue planet. Later, when you’re back home, you can flip through your jottings and recall just how varied life on earth really is. And if you’re feeling bitter and twisted about returning to work, just scroll down to the page where you wrote about the dodgy red snapper you ate in Kiribati.

Top 10 Things To Remember When Travelling To The USA #wholesale

    #travelling america

Top 10 Things To Remember When Travelling To The USA

Planning a trip to the United States? You ll have a much better time and eliminate travel hassles if you remember to adjust to some of the peculiar American quirks. Here are the 10 key issues we advise looking out for.

The United States is one of the most popular travel destinations for Australians: more than 863,000 trips were made there in 2012, ranking it as our third-most popular destination (after New Zealand and Indonesia). US culture often seems familiar to us after a lifetime of imported TV, music, movies and games, but there are some peculiar quirks of travelling to the States which aren t always so apparent.

I ve been thinking about these issues in the run-up to our World Of Servers visit to TechEd North America these are problems that our winning bloggers are going to have to bear in mind. However, they re equally applicable to anyone travelling to the US. We ran a more basic version of this list back in 2010. but given the many changes since then an update seemed wise.

    10. You ll pay more than the listed price

Despite Australia s proximity to China, many items are still cheaper stateside (clothes being one obvious example). The ongoing near-parity between the Australian and US dollar also makes shopping sprees very tempting. Have at it by all means, but remember one crucial point: unlike Australia, the price tags you see won t include sales tax. That will vary from state to state, with the typical rate hovering between 4 and 6 per cent. I usually assume a 10 per cent markup that s almost always an exaggeration, but it s an easy mental calculation and makes it simple to assess if a bargain is still a bargain post-tax. Picture: Douglas Muth

    9. Don t make jokes to airport security

Yes, this rule applies in any airport, but the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) can be particularly humourless. The process is annoying (you always have to remove your belt and shoes), but we have some sympathy here. People make jokes on an astonishingly regular basis about having bombs , something we highlighted by putting all the reported comments on a map. Having to deal with people carrying loaded firearms in hand luggage is also a daily occurrence. Tamp down your inner comedian and put up with life in the queue; it will be easier for everyone in the long run.

    8. Stock up on dollar bills for tipping

I m not a fan of having to give dollar bills to shuttle bus drivers and add 15 per cent to every restaurant bill, but tipping is an inescapable fact of life in the US. Many minimum-wage jobs presume that tips will form a large proportion of overall income. In theory, that should lead to better service; in practice, that varies widely. But tipping is expected, and stocking up on dollar bills (the US has dollar coins as well but they re much rarer) is the easiest way to handle tipping the doorman who gets you a taxi. Note: some restaurants will automatically add a gratuity to your bill to make sure you pay it. Check that before adding anything extra yourself. Dollar bills picture from Shutterstock

    7. International transit is not a thing

The US sometimes pops up as a transit stop en route to other countries (particularly Canada and South America). The bad news: if this happens, you will still have to clear US customs, even if you re immediately heading to another flight and your baggage is already tagged to your final destination. It s a nuisance and something that happens almost nowhere else in the world, but US airport design means it s never going to change. If you do book a trip with transit via the US, allow yourself an absolute minimum of two hours between flights, and make sure your bookings are connected, so that the airlines involved will be looking out for you. Departures picture from Shutterstock

    6. Know your body scanner rules

Both Australia and the US now use body scanners to check passengers for banned items, but there are some key differences. In Australia, the scanners are currently only used for international flights and aren t used on every passenger, but you can t opt out ; refusing to be scanned will see you kicked out of the airport for 24 hours.

In the US, scanners are used for domestic and international flights, and everyone passing through the airport is subjected to them. However, you do have the option of asking for a pat-down scan instead. Personally I wouldn t bother the body scan is much quicker but the choice is there if you have health or privacy concerns. Picture: Getty

    5. You won t hear airport-wide flight announcements

Australian airports are small enough that airport-wide boarding calls are usually made for every flight. That isn t the case at US airports: the only announcements that are made are at the gate itself, so you won t hear them if you re lurking in the shops or at a bar. Take note of the boarding time on your card and make sure you re at the gate on time. US flights are often overbooked, so you risk getting booted if you don t show up, especially if you don t have checked baggage.

Again, this isn t unique to the US, but it s worth noting. If you have access to an airport lounge, note that they typically don t make flight announcements for domestic flights either; international flights are often called, and some lounges will highlight boarding flights on a separate screen (as in the picture), but this depends on the airport and airline.

    4. Your accent may be a problem

Americans are friendly folks, but many of them haven t travelled, and their only routine exposure to other accents is via South America. I might have an exaggerated view of this because I speak far too quickly at the best of times, but I ve often found it easier when ordering coffee or a meal to simply drop into an American accent rather than being repeatedly questioned. The mere process of having to remember to do the accent slows me down.

    3. If you must lock your bag, use TSA locks

As well as scanning your body on the way in, the TSA also often inspects luggage after it has been checked in. If this happens, you ll find a note in your bag to that effect. However, if you have locked your bag, you ll know well before that, because the lock will have been broken open.

The only way to work around the lock ban is to use one of the TSA-approved locks. which can be opened with a master key. That means baggage screeners can inspect your baggage if it does set off security processes, but it will remain impervious to other outsiders. I m cynical about the usefulness of this there must be a lot of master keys around but if you like locking your luggage, it s the only way to do it.

    2. Be sparing when using your phone

The US is no exception to the rule that mobile phone roaming rates will bleed you dry. Check out our top 10 tips to avoid roaming rorts for specific advice on how to minimise this problem. Free Wi-Fi is definitely your friend; it s increasingly common in US hotels, but check carefully as some hotels will charge a resort fee to cover it. If you want to acquire a pay-as-you-go mobile hotspot for data access in the States, we ve rounded up some of the better options. Hotspot picture from Shutterstock

    1. Make sure you apply for an ESTA

Most Australians don t need a specific visa to travel to the US for holiday or business trips lasting less than 90 days. However, you do need to apply online via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization for electronic approval prior to your trip.

The process is relatively speedy and can be done entirely online, but it isn t free; you have to pay $US14, and payment via credit card is the only option. This may seem fiddly, but there is one advantage: if you have an ESTA, you only have to fill in customs paperwork on board your flight, rather than separate customs and immigration forms.

Apply for an ESTA well in advance of your trip; if you arrive at the airport and don t have an ESTA (or a visa), you won t be able to board your flight. An ESTA remains valid for two years. The official minimum time period is 72 hours.

Top 311 Complaints and Reviews about #travel #city

    #book airfare

Online since 1996, offers cheap flights and cheap hotels reservations. offers specially negotiated, deeply discounted airline tickets up to 70% off.

    Consumer Complaints Reviews

This is a long and involved story but suffice to say, have swindled me out of roughly $3800 over the last 18 months. I booked a flight from New Orleans to Australia about 18 months ago and found I was unable to fly about 2 weeks before my flight was due to depart. After lengthy negotiations with and the airlines I was supposed to fly with (who were helpful but unable to do anything since the booking was through a third party), I was able to keep my credit and change my flights, at great expense of course (I think the fee to change my booking was somewhere in the order of $800). While this was prohibitively expensive, since the original flight was also pricey (several thousand dollars), it seemed worthwhile.

Cut to a few weeks ago, when I found out through my lawyer that I would be unable to fly due to my current visa status. Essentially, leaving the United States at this time could result in me being disallowed to re-enter the country, so in her own words “it’s not worth the risk”. I try to do the right thing and contact to let them know I need to cancel, not really expecting to get any credit back. More than anything, I was trying to do right by this company and the airline. It’s a pain when passengers no-show. So I call the number of the website. The first THREE times I call, I’m put through to a customer service rep who, after saying ‘hello’, doesn’t speak to me at all. I don’t know if the call dropped (it was still connected?) or whether they just didn’t feel like working. But either way, by the fourth time I called, I was pretty annoyed.

I tried to explain the situation to the customer service rep who seemed more interested in talking over the top of me. He told me in no uncertain terms that I could NOT get any credit back on the flight and when I asked to speak to a supervisor, he initially refused. It wasn’t until I told him very calmly and firmly that I knew I was entitled to speak to a supervisor that he finally put me on hold and transferred me. By the time the supervisor got on the line, I had decided that there was no reason for me to speak to another rude, helpful person in a call center on the other side of the world. Previous reviewers are right, it’s near impossible to speak to a fluent English speaker who works for this company. When I asked the supervisor if I could be transferred to someone in an office in the United States, she simply said “No”. About 5 times.

Finally, she told me to just email. At this point, I was so annoyed that I agreed. Not only was the connection bad/muffled but nobody spoke anything better than broken English. And they seemed more interested in reciting a script than listening to what I was actually asking them. Email seemed preferable. Upon emailing, I was told that I would have to pay A CANCELLATION FEE. I didn’t get around to finding out how much the fee was because at this point, I firmly emailed them back and told them “Haha, no way. I’ll just no-show if that’s the case.” They then proceeded to call ME about 6 times even though each time, I told them very firmly that I was not going to pay to cancel my flight and that I would appreciate if they stopped calling me.

Finally, I called Delta and Virgin to find out if I could do anything on their end. Guess what? They had NO RECORD of my booking. I am not currently listed in their system (as of today, November 9 2015), despite the fact that I am supposed to fly out of the United States on a Delta/Virgin flight on November 30th. In the words of the Delta rep, “your third party hasn’t paid us for the flights yet”. Even though I booked over 18 months ago. Right. In short, AVOID. This company says they are based in Washington, they are not. They are based in India. It’s impossible to speak with someone who is fluent in English. They will give you the runaround and charge you excess fees whenever they can. And it seems like even if I had turned up to the airport and tried to board my flight on the 30th, there’s a good chance the airline would have had no record of me as a passenger! Not worth it. I wish Kayak would stop using them as a suggested third party.

The Top 25 Travel Agents of 2013

What makes a top travel agent? Is it something easy to measure sales volume, perhaps? Or is it something less tangible pure dedication and willingness to go above and beyond for a client? Or is it some sort of combination of the two? Looking to find answers to this query, Travel Agent invited our readers to tell us why they were the toppers in their field. Some agents are home-based and part of a larger parent company. Some are in small, independent businesses. Some are part of huge corporations. As always, everyone had wonderful stories about the challenges and triumphs of being a travel agent, making it very difficult for us to select just 25.

Berta Aizen specializes mainly in European and Latin American destinations at Frosch Travel, but does not limit herself in where she can send her clients. Aizen understands customer loyalty, and guides her clients through trips that are best suited for them. Clients take her advice and suggestions, making her closure rate above 90 percent.

In July 2012, Aizen had a family of five travel to Argentina and Brazil. One of their flights was cancelled from Cordoba to Buenos Aires due to a strike, she says. They had a prepaid/nonrefundable hotel in Buenos Aires where they were going to stay the night to depart the next morning to Iguazu Falls. Aizen was able to get the family aboard a flight from Cordoba to Iguazu on a different airline, and even got a refund after communicating with the hotel and airline.

Planning a trip for a family of 35 people traveling by charter to France and Barcelona presented its share of challenges. For starters, Aizen made sure to hire two guides, one for the adults and another for the children. The family stayed at five-star hotels and a 16-room villa in Provence. Private tours were offered along with a private coach, cooking class and yacht on the Seine River. Wine tasting was available for the adults, while the children went on a scavenger hunt.

Berta wrote the book on how to create successful relationships with both her guests and suppliers, says Marc T lio, president, Entr e Destinations. She understands loyalty and is a true proponent for building successful partnerships, so her sales speak volumes.

The Top 5 Credit Cards for Travel RewardsThe Points Guy #business

The Top 5 Credit Cards for Travel Rewards

This post contains references to products from one or more of our advertisers. We may receive compensation when you click on links to those products. For an explanation of our Advertising Policy, visit this page .

Since it s a new year, I ve already started to hear from a lot of friends and family that they are sick of seeing my amazing travels and not being able to go places themselves. So they re going to buckle down in 2014 and get into the points and miles game, starting with applying for the right credit cards to get their points portfolios in shape. If you ve got good credit and can pay off your bills in full every month, travel credit cards can be extremely lucrative and are the main way that I m able to fly first class internationally and stay at some of the nicest hotels in the world- often for less cash outlay than if I paid to fly coach or stay in a hostel.

I flew to Seoul in Singapore Air s first class cabin for just 74,375 KrisFlyer miles and $203.30 one way- not bad for a $5,500 seat.

For anyone else looking to get in the action, here are my picks the top five current credit card offers for beginners. I chose these because the sign-up bonuses are easy earn, the points or miles are easy to use, annual fees are reasonable and the cardholder benefits are valuable. It doesn t take a rocket scientist to use points or miles, the key is having those points or miles to use when you need them. For a full list of top deals, visit our TPG Top Deals page .

    1. Chase Sapphire Preferred

Current Bonus: 40,000 points when you spend $3,000 in 3 months, plus 5,000 points when you add an authorized users and make a purchase on the card within the first 3 months.

Spending Bonuses: 2 points per $1 on travel (which includes flights, hotels, car rentals, subway, parking, taxis, etc.) and restaurants (basically any food establishment and catering) with no maximum caps.

Benefits: Points are worth 1.25 cents when redeeming with pay-with-points for airfare, hotel, car rentals and cruises (that means the 40,000 sign-up bonus = $500 towards travel at the very minimum); no foreign transaction fees ; extra earning potential through the Ultimate Rewards earning mall; Ultimate Rewards Exclusives experience redemptions, Visa Signature perks and protections, no foreign transaction fees and chip signature technology

Transfer Partners: United, British Airways, Southwest, Korean Air, Virgin Atlantic, Hyatt, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Priority Club, Amtrak.

Annual Fee: $95, waived the first year

Why get it? A lot of people ask me what is the one travel credit card they should get. and while it really depends on what you re hoping to use your points for, the core card I almost always recommend to friends and family is the Chase Sapphire Preferred. That s because of its powerful earning potential, the ease of transferring to great partners, benefits like no foreign transaction fees (super important if you travel or use your card for foreign purchases), and the fact that even if you don t use the transfer partners, that 40,000-point bonus is worth $500 in travel. But if you do maximize those travel partners, you can make out like a bandit. For example, I m writing this post from my room at the newly opened Andaz Papagayo in Costa Rica. where rooms cost $600 a night or 22,000 Hyatt points (which transfer instantly at a 1:1 ratio from Chase Ultimate Rewards). So once you spend the $3,000 and get the 40,000-point bonus, that would be enough for 2 free nights, or $1,200 in value- all from a single credit card sign-up on a card that even has the first year annual fee waived.

My 2014 began at the Andaz Papagayo, thanks to my Chase points transferred to Hyatt Gold Passport at an instant 1:1 ratio.

Ranking the Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Partners

Top 10 Ways To Maximize Each Ultimate Rewards Transfer Partner

Current Bonus: 40,000 miles with $3,000 spend in the first 90 days

Benefits: Earn 2 miles per dollar spent on all purchases and receive 10% of your miles back when you redeem on travel. Receive a complimentary membership to TripIt Pro. No foreign transaction fees and EMV chip technology. For more information on this card, read my review here. and then check out this post for details on its Travel Bonus Category and Redemption Options. and this one for ideas on the Top 10 Ways To Maximize Barclaycard Arrival Miles .

Annual Fee: $89 waived the first year

Why get it? The sign-up bonus is worth $440 towards travel, simply put. Since there is no annual fee the first year, so it is literally like free money, which is great for covering costs like award ticket fees, train tickets, car rentals, and other expenses you can t usually use travel points for like b b s, Airbnb, car rentals and more.

Current Bonus:  Earn Two weekend night certificates, each good for one weekend night  (standard room, double occupancy) at most hotels and resorts within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, after $2,500 in eligible purchases within the first 4 months.

Category Spending Bonuses: 10 points for every $1 spent on hotel stays within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio; 5 points for every $1 spent on airline and car rental purchases; 3 points for every $1 spent on all other purchases.

Benefits: Automatic Hilton HHonors Gold status; Diamond status with $40,000 annual spend; no foreign transaction fees, SmartChip technology ; Visa Signature benefits; cardholders who spend $10,000 annually get an anniversary free weekend-night certificate as well that can be used at any property

Why get it? Those two free nights you get as a sign-up and spending bonus are good at ANY hilton in the world, which can be an amazing value if you redeem at Hilton s top properties where award nights can cost 95,000 points (for a standard room at the best rates), like I recently did at the Conrad Maldives. That equates to a 190,000-point bonus, or nearly $2,500 in value in my case.

I used my two free weekend nights to stay at the Conrad Maldives and then paid to upgrade to the overwater bungalow.

For more information, check out these posts:

Current Bonus:  Earn 25,000 points after $3,000 spent within the first 3 months.

Category Spending Bonuses: 2x points on Starwood purchases, 1x on other purchases.

Benefits: Get 5,000 bonus Starpoints when you transfer 20,000 Starpoints to a frequent flyer program with more than 30 airlines; 2 stays/5 nights credit toward elite status qualification.

Annual Fee: $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $95

Why get it? This card is great for spend when you can t get a category spending bonus on other cards because Starpoints are one of the most valuable currencies out there. Plus, Amex has great purchase protections.

SPG points are great for airline transfers Alaska Airlines is one of my favorites, giving the ability to redeem for Emirates first class, which I recently flew on the A380.

For more information, check out these posts:

Current Bonus: Check the CardMatch tool   to see if you are targeted for a higher offer than the current public offer for 40,000 points   after you spend $3,000 in 3 months.

Benefits:  This card also comes with an array of valuable benefits, including a $200 annual airline rebate, access to Delta and Priority Pass lounges (as well as the Amex Centurion Lounges ), and a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application rebate (see posts below for more info).

    Annual Fee:  $450

  • Los Angeles Workers Compensation Attorney Fees – Serving LA & Ventura

Los Angeles Workers’ Comp Lawyers Fees

    Attorney Fees

Attorney fees in workers compensation cases are regulated by the Labor Code and the Workers Compensation Appeals Board.

Attorney fees in workers compensation cases are contingent fees. If you lose your case, you owe nothing. If you get a settlement or award of benefits, my office gets 15%. The 15% attorney fee is paid from the employee’s workers compensation benefits. In a few cases, the employer might have to pay the attorney fee.

In most cases, the 15% is based on the permanent disability award.

If my office obtains other benefits after having gone to the Board, I request 15% to be withheld from past due benefits.

If the case is settled, my office requests attorney fees of 15% on the amount of the settlement.

California has one of the lowest percentages for attorney fees in the nation. The Labor Code provides for attorney fees between 9% and 12%. In practice, the Workers Compensation Appeals Board has approved 15% attorney fees for many years. My office as well as all other workers compensation lawyers in the Los Angeles area all charge and get a 15% fee.

Top 5 Cell phone providers (USA) #top, #ranking

AT T, Inc is the largest provider of landline telephony in the USA, and also provides broadband and subscription television services. AT T is also the second largest provider of mobile telephony service in the USA with over 92 million wireless customers; just behind Verizon Wireless.

By 2010 AT T was the seventh largest company in the USA by total revenue, as well as the third largest non-oil company in the USA (behind Walmart and Bank of America). It is the third largest company in Texas by total revenue (after ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips) and the largest non-oil company in Texas. It is also the largest company to have its headquarters in Dallas.

Southwestern Bell Corp was founded in 1983 as a Regional Bell Operating Company following the break-up of the original AT T as a result of antitrust litigation. The company changed its name in 1995 to SBC Communications, Inc and again in 2005 to AT T, Inc after acquiring its former parent company, AT T Corp. The newly merged company adopted the iconic AT T logo and T (for telephone ) stock-trading symbol.

The current AT T network reconstitutes much of the former Bell System and includes ten of the original Bell Operating Companies, along with one in which AT T held part ownership (Southern New England Telephone) and AT T s original long-distance division.

Sprint Nextel Corp is a telecommunications company based in Overland Park, Kansas. The company owns and operates Sprint, the third largest wireless telecommunications network in the USA after Verizon Wireless and AT T, with over 48 million customers.

Sprint is also a global internet carrier. In the USA the company is the third largest long distance provider and also owns a majority share in Clearwire, which operates the largest wireless broadband network.

The company was renamed in 2005 upon the purchase of Nextel Communications by Sprint Corp. The company continues to operate using two distinct wireless network technologies, CDMA and iDEN (for Nextel and some Boost Mobile sub scribers). In 2009, Sprint endorsed an agreement to outsource the management of its wireless networks to Ericsson.

Sprint Nextel launched its first WiMAX wireless device on 21 December 2008 (the Franklin Wireless u300 broadband card), and the first WiMAX phone available in the USA (the HTC Evo 4G) on 4 June 2010, applying WiMAX technology from Clearwire Corp.
