Travel to Maldives

Although geographically isolated the Maldives is easily accessible by air from anywhere in Southeast Asia, Middle East and Europe. Colombo is an hour’s journey away by air, from Singapore and Dubai it takes about four hours and from Europe it takes nine to eleven hours to reach Malé international airport .

What to pack

The Maldives is warm throughout the year. Light, cotton and linen wear is ideal. Pack lots of tee shirts, beachwear, and wraparound skirts, cotton shirts and shorts. For visits to inhabited islands, where most of the streets are of compact sand, or Malé where the streets are paved, sandals are easy to walk on. Some essential items include swimwear, sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat or a cap. If your travel plan includes traveling to many islands, a mosquito repellent may become handy.

Customs

Tourists are issued a 30-day tourist visa on arrival. A valid travel document is necessary. Visa extensions are granted by the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Malé. The import of firearms, drugs, pornography and idols of worship are prohibited. Dogs, pigs, and pork products are also prohibited for import by tourists. Alcohol imported under a special license is available in all the resorts. Similarly pork products are available at most of the resorts as well. Prohibited products such as alcohol brought in by passengers are bonded and released at departure.

Health Requirements

An international certificate of inoculation against yellow fever and cholera is required by visitors arriving from infected countries.

MTPB at the Airport

The Maldives Tourism Promotion Board has a counter at the airport arrival terminal to provide information and assistance to tourists arriving in the country and provide a variety of brochures in different languages for guests.

Resort Transfer

If you have a booking with a resort, transfer is usually arranged prior to your arrival. The options of speedboat or seaplane transfer where available is for you to choose from. For transfer to resorts close to the airport, motorboat or dhoni transfer is quite convenient. Even if you make a resort booking while in Malé. transfer arrangements are often made by the resort.

The Maldives has one of the largest seaplane fleets in the world, not surprising for a country with 99% ocean and more than a thousand islands. The low altitude seaplane journey offers you the additional opportunity to experience a breathtaking bird’s eye view of the country.

Departure Tax

The airport departure tax which is US$ 12.00 is usually included when you purchase your airline ticket.

Duty Free Shopping

Duty Free Shopping is only available at the departure terminal at Malé International Airport. The lounge has specialized shops with a wide variety of international brands selling well known products at competitive prices. The duty free lounge has shops for toys, souvenirs, perfume, electronics, watches, fashion accessories, jewelry, liquor and tobacco and confectionery.

Careers in Travel and Tourism

Careers in Travel and Tourism

Globalization is not a buzzword solely associated with international business. It has translated into a booming new career possibility: expanded services in the travel and tourism industry.

According to the World Travel Tourism Council (WTTC), the industry already is responsible for more than 10 percent of global employment. Brian White, PhD, director of the WTTC’s Human Resources Center in British Columbia, says the field is incredibly diverse and comprised of seven major areas:

  • Airlines/transport.
  • Conferences and conventions.
  • Arts and culture.
  • Hotels, food and beverage.
  • Ecotourism.
  • Outdoor recreation.
  • Ancillary services associated with tourism.

Industry Trends

With all this opportunity, where should you concentrate your efforts? Focusing on market demands may lead to more job openings.

On the corporate side, according to a piece on Hoover’s industry trends online. the travel and tourism industry is in consolidation mode. This means that smaller companies are merging or being acquired by big players like American Express, Marriott and Carlson Wagonlit. So it might make sense to begin your career with one of the larger corporations, where you can gain exposure to many facets of the business while having relative job security.

An obvious trend is the increase in Internet service. The Web has created new and different career options for those interested in travel careers. Individuals can work for travel Web sites like CheapTickets.com, Orbitz and Travelocity.

Additionally, journalists may see more travel writing opportunities available in traditional magazines like Cond Nast Traveler and National Geographic Traveler as well as online publications.

Characteristics for Success

This is a service industry, first and foremost, so you must have patience, flexibility and excellent interpersonal skills. Cultural sensitivity and awareness are critical, as tourism professionals deal with different countries and cultures.

Senior-level executives generally have MBAs and develop skills and competencies that can be transferred across sectors. Midlevel professionals need a mix of practical experience and academic credentials, according to White, who also teaches in the field. For example, individuals might work full-time in the travel sector while going part-time for an advanced certificate in travel and tourism.

Pros and Cons

One obvious benefit of working in the travel and tourism industry is the opportunity to actually hop on a plane and see many locales at low prices, or even gratis. Another benefit is the fact that the field is international and changes along with global trends.

One of the downsides to the business, especially the hotel and restaurant side, is the long hours. Management must often work evenings and weekends. Individuals are often asked to move to a new location without much notice.

Ethics and Tourism

White reminds us there is a strong set of ethics required in the field of tourism, noting the industry has profound economic implications for a country’s economy and people. It is important for individuals to consider their responsibilities, he adds. Tourism is about more than making a profit; it involves benefiting local communities, creating jobs that provide fair wages and not exploiting the environment.

Romanian Economy – Official Travel and Tourism Information #arc #travels

Economy

For many centuries Romania’s economy was based on agriculture. In the 1930s Romania was one of the main European producers of wheat, corn and meats and it used to be called the bread basket of Europe. In the 1950s the communist leader of Romania, Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, began developing heavy industry.

There has been a shift towards heavy industries since the 1970s but the agriculture is still economically important and employs about one-third of the workforce.

Romania produces coal, natural gas, iron ore and petroleum but most raw material for the country’s large industrial capacity potential are imported. Prominent industries include chemical (petrochemical, paints and varnishes), metal processing, machine manufacturing, industrial and transport equipment, textiles, manufactured consumer goods, lumbering and furniture.

39.2% of Romania’s territory is arable land, 28% forests, 21% pastures, hayfields and orchards and 2.5% vineyards. Corn, wheat, vegetable oil seeds, vegetables, apples and grapes for wine are the main crops and sheep and pigs the main livestock. Forestry and fisheries are being developed under long-term programs. Since 1990, successive governments have concentrated on turning Romania into a market economy.

Top Online Travel and Tourism Schools

With the rise of websites such as Travelocity, Expedia, and Priceline, Internet travel sites now allow travelers to book their own flights, hotel rooms and determine both the length and cost of their vacations. However, what do you do once you arrive? What are the places you should go if you enjoy the local highlights and dislike crowds? What are the things to remember when making an international voyage? Is it the same as making an international flight? For these questions, and others that might occur, tour guides and agents are needed.

As part of the hospitality field, travel and tour agents offer advice on destinations and plan trip itineraries for travelers, both nationally and internationally, and some even make travel arrangements. Some agents also sell transportation services and make lodging arrangements at the destination. Other agents may simply help travelers by sorting through the vast quantities of information available for a trip, especially international ones, and locate travel packages their clients may be interested in.

Degrees and certifications in travel and tourism are offered from a variety of sources including vocational schools, community colleges and industry associations. Colleges can provide certificates or even an associate in science degree specializing in travel and tourism. Classes in the industry s vocabulary, cruise and tour brochure design, and industry best practices may be required by some colleges, such as the City College of San Francisco. in addition to classes in communications, marketing and anthropology.

As with all associate degree programs, an associate of science in travel and tourism degree program can typically be completed in two years and certificate programs can potentially be completed in one year, based on class scheduling and other factors. There are also certifications in green and sustainable travel which can be completed in one semester. depending on the student.

The International Airline Transport Association s Training and Development Institute offers both professional certification and post-secondary diplomas. In addition, earning a diploma from the IATA automatically qualifies students for certification as a Travel and Tourism Professional (TTP). For students without an IATA diploma, the requirements for certification include two-to-three years of work experience in addition to completing a travel and tourism program. In addition, the programs offered by IATA are available entirely online or through distance learning.

In light of this, diploma programs offered by industry certifiers such as IATA or the Travel Institute deserve consideration when looking for programs to enroll in for earning a diploma in travel and tourism online.

Below is more about the travel and tourism focus available from online schools and colleges through SchoolsGalore.com

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS.gov, 2012) notes that, nationally, 14 percent of travel agents were self-employed during 2010; 79 percent were employed in the travel arrangement and reservation services industry during the same period. Licensure is only required in some states and only if the agent will be selling travel services.

The Travel Institute offers certification as a Certified Travel Associate (CTA), Travel Counselor (CTC) and Travel Industry Executive (CTIE). The International Airline Transport Association s Training and Development Institute offers both voluntary certification as a Travel and Tourism Professional (TTP) but also diplomas for both travel and tourism consulting and hospitality management. All IATA program graduates automatically meet the requirements for TTP certification. Both institutes also provide continuing education materials such as podcasts and white papers.

According to the BLS (BLS.gov, 2012 ), in May 2011 the national median salary for a travel agent was $33,930. The employment for travel agents was also projected by the BLS (BLS.gov, 2012 ) to expand by up to 10 percent between 2010 and 2020, about as fast as the national rate for all other occupations. Despite the projected outlook, the BLS (BLS.gov, 2012 ) does note that Internet travel sites, which allow travelers to book their own trips, could continue to suppress the demand for agents.

Learn more about accredited travel and tourism programs from online schools and colleges through SchoolsGalore.com

When researching online colleges and universities, make sure to verify that your choice of school is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council or by another accrediting agency that approved by The U.S. Department of Education or The Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or both. DETC and CHEA both provide a searchable list of approved schools.

Space Tourism

NSS deeply regrets the tragic loss of SpaceShipTwo on October 31 and extends it’s heartfelt sympathy to the families involved and to everyone who worked in this program.

The process of creating a successful off-world tourism industry will be the key economic and technological driver enabling the human species to evolve into a real Solar System Species.

SpaceShipOne [showed that] space travel was no longer just the domain of prohibitively expensive government programs subject to political whim. Now it was just like any other business that could be developed into a thriving industry. From Rocketeers .

The sheer beauty of it just brought tears to my eyes. If people can see Earth from up here, see it without those borders, see it without any differences in race or religion, they would have a completely different perspective. Because when you see it from that angle, you cannot think of your home or your country. All you can see is one Earth.

Anousheh Ansari. Iranian-American space tourist who flew to the International Space Station in September 2006.

Ten great jobs in travel and tourism

Editor’s note: CNN.com has a business partnership with CareerBuilder.com, which serves as the exclusive provider of job listings and services to CNN.com.

Lifeguards, while enjoying the beach and the sunshine, can make up to $15,000 per year.

Vacations are one of the best things in the world.

You visit new, exotic and beautiful places; you make memories with your vacation companions; you experience different cultures and best of all, you get a break from reality.

While you’re experiencing bliss in your temporary home away from home, you can’t forget about the people working while you play.

After all, your vacation experience depends on someone else’s — rather, a lot of peoples’ — job.

Think about it. There’s someone accountable for the mode of transportation you chose to get to your vacation spot; someone responsible for booking your tickets; someone in charge of the activities you embark on; someone taking care of your entertainment in the evening, serving your drinks, showing you the sights. The list goes on.

Employment opportunities in travel and tourism. which fall into the leisure and hospitality industry, are abundant, especially during prime vacation seasons.

Leisure and hospitality contributed to 13.1 million jobs in 2006 and is projected to hold 15 million jobs in 2016, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Cancun Vacations

Cancun is an open gate to your dream vacation. It boasts state-of-the-art hotel facilities among the coolest clubs, bars, and malls only a few feet away from the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Description

The city of Cancun is young, as are most of its permanent and temporary inhabitants. It was just a small sand barrier some 35 years ago when the plan began to develop it into the vacation haven of the 21st century. Today, Cancun consists of a medium-sized coastal city and a long, thin island connected to the mainland through bridges at its north and south ends. It features world-class resorts, hotels, clubs, and malls. It offers something for everyone, from an all-day fun party beach to an isolated, tranquil island.

Here you’ll find everything, from ultra chic to funky laidback, from R B to techno, from tacos and cheeseburgers to fancy, mainstream standards. All tastes are welcomed and catered to in this paradise. No wonder this is Mexico’s most popular resort.

Cancun’s beaches

The new, great, and gorgeous beaches of white sand caressed by warm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea stand out as the hottest spots in town, both literally and figuratively. It’s impossible not to enjoy them so don’t even try. Put on your bikini or swimsuit, it’s time for fun under the sun!

Topless bathing is an activity that is quietly accepted in Cancun and many of the surrounding areas along the Mayan Rivera. Total nudity is rare (as well as illegal), especially on the major beaches. Start planning your next vacation trip to the best and most beautiful tourist destination in Mexico.

Hotel Zone

Most resorts, hotels. and condominiums are located in the Hotel Zone, as this long strip of island is known.It is the area where it all comes together for most visitors. Kukulcan Boulevard is the main and only thoroughfare. On the west side of the island is Laguna Nichupte. a vast lagoon home to hundreds of marinas, waterfront restaurants, shopping malls, a couple of golf courses, a few islands and inlets, and the fantastic sunsets you’ll see during your Cancun vacation. The island’s energized atmosphere emanates from the middle, its heartbeat, an area known as the Party Zone featuring the bestnightclubs. bars, restaurants. and shopping malls .

Downtown Cancun

Cancun Centro (downtown) offers an alternative to all the glitz and hype of the Hotel Zone with some great restaurants. bars, and shopping arcades. The atmosphere becomes more family-friendly as all the people who make this paradise work live here. They are the target market and the ambience not only becomes Latin, but prices go down significantly. Your wallet will appreciate very much your visit to downtown, as the money it contains will certainly go farther there during your Cancun vacation.

TRAVELLING AHEAD OF THE MASSES

Bhutan is one of the rare countries in the world where you can still travel ahead of the masses. For centuries Bhutan lived completely isolated from the outer world and it’s only since the 1970’s that tourism is possible. To safeguard its rich natural environment, religion and culture, the country has consciously adopted a controlled tourism and development policy. Although there is no longer a restriction on visitor numbers; all tourists have to pay a minimum daily tariff of approximately 200 US dollars, fixed by the government. This automatically regulates the number of tourists.

All tourists (group or individual) must travel on a pre-planned, prepaid, guided package tour or custom designed travel program. You cannot travel independently in the kingdom. The arrangements must be made through an officially approved tour operator, either directly or through an overseas agent. If you make it to Bhutan, you can expect a first class treatment in the hotels and during trekkings.

Travel tip . Book your travel as early as possible, especially during high season and festivals. This ensures you will get a good hotel and confirmed Druk Air flight seats. If you want to travel to Bhutan for the festivals, you must book your tour four to five months in advance. If you are traveling for different seasons, book your tour two to three months in advance.

  • Travelling to Bhutan

You can enter Bhutan by plane through the internationals airports of Bangkok (Thailand), Calcutta/Kolkata (India), Gaya (India), Siliguri (India), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Yangon (Myanmar, former Birma) or Kathmandu (Nepal). Paro Airport in the south west of the country, Read more.

Travelling in Bhutan

Bhutan knows no trains or domestic flights, so you can only travel by car or bus in Bhutan. The country has a relatively well developed network of roads accessing all major towns. However, most roads are small and badly or not at all paved and unlit. Read more.

Travelling from Bhutan

If you want to purchase old and used items (100 years or older), be cautious. The Bhutanese customs authorities strictly monitor the export of any religious antiquities or antiques of any kind from the Kingdom. You’re not allowed to take items out of the country which haven’t been officially certified as non-antique. Read more.

Travel Documents

You need a valid passport to enter Bhutan. Make sure it has sufficient empty pages for stamps, especially if you are travelling via India or Nepal. Also make sure your passport isn’t about to expire (six months or less). Read more.

Costs

  • The Bhutanese government has set a non negotiable minimum daily tariff. The daily tariff includes all of your accommodation, food, land transport within Bhutan, services of guides and porters, supply of pack animals on treks and cultural programs as appropriate. Read more.

    Working Holiday Visa Australia (417 – 462) – Tourism Australia #cheap

    Working Holiday Maker Program

    Planning to stay and work while you’re visiting Australia?

    Planning to stay and work while you’re visiting Australia?

    If you’re aged between 18 and 30 and hold a passport for a country or region participating in Australia’s Working Holiday Maker programme, you may be eligible to apply for a 12-month visa which enables you to work in Australia while you are here.

    The Australian Government’s Working Holiday Maker Programme, which includes the Working Holiday visa and the Work and Holiday visa, is a cultural exchange programme which enables young travellers to have an extended holiday and earn money through short-term employment. If you work in Australia’s regional areas, in certain circumstances you may even be able to extend your stay for an additional 12 months.

    The Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection manages all permanent and temporary immigration matters for Australia including visa applications. Their website will tell you everything you need to know about how the Working Holiday Maker programme works, participating countries, the type of visa you need to enter Australia, your eligibility and obligations and how to apply: www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work

    The Working Holiday visa (Subclass 417) Work and Holiday visa (Subclass 462)

    The Working Holiday Maker programme has two types of visas: Working Holiday visa (Subclass 417) and Work and Holiday visa (Subclass 462) depending on your country of residence. See below for lists of countries eligible for each visa.

    If you intend to participate in Australia’s Working Holiday Maker programme, you must apply for your visa before you arrive. These types of visas allow you to stay and work in Australia in all types of full-time, part-time, casual, shift and voluntary work for up to 12 months. You can leave and re-enter Australia any number of times while the visa is valid.

    You can also study for a maximum of four months in Australia in addition to working during your holiday.

    You will need to meet certain health, character and financial requirements and declare that you will respect Australian values and obey Australian laws before a visa is granted. You should also have a return or onward ticket or the funds for a fare to depart Australia. Health insurance from your own country is also recommended.

    The Working Holiday Maker programme is not suitable for those seeking permanent employment or full-time study in Australia. If your primary reason for coming to Australia is to seek employment or study you should enquire about a business visa or student visa which may better suit your needs.

    Read the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection visa requirements carefully to determine your eligibility and obligations before you apply. There is a non-refundable charge when you lodge your visa application.

    Which visa should I apply for?

    Responsible travel, Responsible tourism, Eco tourism, Adventure holidays – Imaginative Traveller

    #responsible travel
    #

    Responsible Travel

    Our Policy

    Responsible tourism is at the heart of Imaginative Traveller. For 20 years we have taken customers to places around the world in social and environmentally responsible manner, ensuring everyone involved respects and maintains the natural and often delicate balance of the destination.

    As travellers ourselves we are well aware of the impact that tourism can have and whilst economic gain from tourism is often fundamental to a country, it should never be at the expense of its culture or the environment. It is our aim to provide journeys that have minimal negative and maximum positive impact on the places we visit. We do not believe that, as visitors, we should impose our own cultures on others; rather that we should experience foreign cultures and appreciate them for what they are.

    We believe giving something back is essential. We therefore work with our customers and the people we visit to ensure the benefits go directly to contribute to local cultures and environmental conservation. This is not only good the communities we visit but it also gives our travellers more enriched adventures.

    What we do

    Supporting and involving local people

    • We recruit and involve local people wherever possible.
    • We support and prefer to work directly with local businesses, services and individuals.
    • Our supplies and equipment are purchased locally wherever possible.
    • We aim to work and treat the traveller, local communities and businesses in a fair and just manner.
    • We aim to work with partners who operate their own local initiatives.
    • Small, family-run establishments make up a high percentage of the accommodation we use.
    • Where it is practical but not intrusive we stay as guests of local families.

    Support ClimateCare

    To help fund by donating to ClimateCare projects or to find out more about ClimateCare’s low carbon technology projects visit their website at www.climatecare.org

    The Rainforest Alliance

    Imaginative Traveller has recently signed a contract with the Rainforest Alliance to work on responsible tourism practices with our Latin America suppliers.

    The Rainforest Alliance is a not-for-profit organisation that works to conserve the environment and promote sustainable and ethical practices in a number of different industries across the World. One of the industries they are working in is tourism throughout Latin America.

    They provide training and technical assistance to help local operators and hotels implement best practices and encourage them to seek certification from one of the organisations part of the Sustainable Tourism Certification Network of the Americas.

    We have signed up to work with them to encourage and motivate our local suppliers. Some of our local operators are already working with the Rainforest Alliance and in this instance our contract with them is simply reinforcing our commitment to responsible travel and demonstrating that it is of the utmost importance to us. For those operators who have not yet agreed to work with them; they will be contacted and encouraged to work on sustainable tourism practices. The aim is that at least 50% of our local partners will sign up but preferably more! The Rainforest Alliance will then also work through them with local hotels/lodges, effectively greening through the supply chain .

    We are very pleased to work with the Rainforest Alliance and further demonstrate our longstanding commitment to sustainable tourism. We hope that this will allow us to do even more in Latin America and help responsible travel become an even more accepted and practiced means of holidaying.

    If you would like to know more about Rainforest Alliance please visit their website www.rainforest-alliance.org

    The Travel Foundation

    The Travel Foundation are an independent UK charity working to promote

    sustainable tourism throughout the travel industry. They aim to encourage

    understanding of responsible travel and also work on their own community

    and environmental initiatives worldwide.

    Imaginative Traveller is demonstrating our support for the charity by working with them on a number of their worldwide projects. We are currently enlisting the help of our local suppliers and ground handlers in East Africa, Morocco and Sri Lanka to support some of the many initiatives the charity has in place. You will find details of the projects within our tour trip notes.

    Same-sex couples in Portugal will soon be able to legally adopt children, after the newly elected Parliament endorsed legislation that has been introduced four times in the past three years. All left-leaning political parties backed the legislation on its first reading, as did roughly 20 deputies from the nation’s center-right Social Democratic Party, according to Agence France Presse.

    Tasmania’s lower house has become the third state parliament to show support for same-sex marriage. Late on 18 November a majority, 15 votes, of the House of Assembly backed a Greens party motion for in-principle support for marriage equality. Liberal premier Will Hodgman and deputy Jeremy Rockliff were among the government MPs who voted in favour of the motion at the end of a three-hour debate.

    LGBT rights defenders reasonably compromising on gay rights legislation with conservative church leaders. A church ban on baptism of children of same-sex couples. A judge removing an infant from her same-sex foster parents — until child services objected and a Republican governor frowned, leading to a quick reversal.

    Despite this year’s Supreme Court’s ruling striking down bans on same-sex marriage, LGBT leaders are warning that a backlash against gay rights is coming. The Court’s ruling, which guarantees gays and lesbians to right to wed, has been met with efforts to protest those protections.

    Revelers from all over the world touched down in Rio de Janeiro this past weekend for the 20th anniversary of the LGBT Pride parade, and from the looks of these photos, the event was as epic as ever. The 2015 festivities began with a poignant tribute to the victims of recently attacks in Paris, as well as those who died after two dams burst and caused a mudslide in southeastern Brazil earlier this month.

    Members and supporters of the LGBT community participated in a ‘Pride March’ rally in Bangalore, India. Gay rights supporters waved flags and danced past traffic during the march to celebrate gay pride and to push for the repeal of a colonial-era law that makes homosexuality a crime.

    GOA TOURISM

    Goa, the land of beaches, is the smallest state in India and yet, arguably, the biggest tourist destination of the country. The beaches, the markets, the parties and the natural beauty of this land on the west coast of India is what mesmerizes everyone. Goa became part of the hippie trail during the 70s. Anjuna was the destination everyone headed to. Over the years though, Goa has become more hip than hippie. A blend of Portuguese and Indian influences, Goa’s unique history makes it a place much more than just beaches and parties.

    Goa is distinctly divided into North Goa and South Goa. Arambol . Mandrem . Morjim . Vagator . Anjuna, Baga . Calangute . Candolim and Miramar are just some of the most popular beaches in north Goa. While the beaches of north Goa are considered ideal for beach holidays, those in south Goa are known for their scenic splendor. Be it the beautiful Palolem beach or the quiet Patnem, you are assured of a splendid vacation.

    Goa also offers a number of water sports; Baga and Calangute being two of the best destinations.

    When you get away from the beaches towards the interiors, you will be amazed by the beautiful churches of Old Goa. Basilica de Bom Jesus . Se Cathedral   and  Church of St. Francis of Assisi will take you back in time. Panaji, the capital of Goa is known for its old world charm. The heritage houses at Altinho and Fontainhas, the old Latin Quarter in Panaji will take you back in time. Miramar Beach and Dona Paula are other popular places around Panaji.

    If you wish to witness the quaint side of Goa, a visit to the islands of Goa must be on your itinerary. Chorao and Divar Island, located 5km and 7 km from Panaji are the perfect getaways.

    The peak season to visit Goa starts mid November and lasts till mid February. Though the months from June to September aren t exactly peak season, a visit to Goa during these months is highly recommended because this is when you see a very different side to this party capital of India .

    Go rafting along the Mhadei river or trek up to the Dudhsagar waterfalls . Or simply get lost in Goa s several wildlife sanctuaries. The best among them are the Bondla and Cotigao sanctuaries. Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, a few kilometers away from Panaji is also a favorite among bird watchers.

    While in Goa, do visit the Saturday night market at Arpora. It is open to public only during the peak season and its hippie vibes, along with numerous artifacts for sale, make it one of its kind! The night market exhibits funky accessories, bohemian clothes, vintage articles and much more! The food and music will keep you entertained through the night.

    Try your luck at the several onshore and offshore casinos in Goa or simply go clubbing to the ever-popular Tito s or Mambo s or head out to Sinq or Cubana.

    Romanian Economy – Official Travel and Tourism Information #las #vegas #travel

    #economy travel
    #

A very wide industry, it includes Government tourism departments, Immigration and customs services, travel agencies, airlines, tour operators, hotels etc and many associated service industries such as airline catering or laundry services, Guides, Interpreters, Tourism promotion and sales etc. Travel and Tourism enterprises include major internationals with a workforce of thousands, to the small private travel agent with a handful of employees.

    Work in the travel and tourism industry is essentially concerned with providing services for people who are away from home, on business or holiday. Travel can be leisure travel involving package tours, pilgrim travel, adventure travel etc or purely business. Work at every functional level in the industry involves dealing directly with people. Travel agents assess the needs of tourists and businessmen and help them make the best possible travel arrangements from the many travel options available. Also, many major cruise lines, resorts, and specialty travel groups use travel agents to promote travel packages to the millions of people who travel every year.

    Travel company personnel must be up-to-date on current rules and regulations and documentation required, in areas like cargo, ticketing and passports, visas etc. so as to correctly advise their clients, and to take care of the paperwork when necessary. Besides this, all tourism staff in marketing, counter sales, or guide services, should be knowledgeable about the places their clients visit, in terms of general background, how to get there connections by air, rail and road and the facilities available.

    In India, Travel and tourism, as an industry, has been somewhat slower to take off than in many other places. However, with increasing worldwide interest in travel, and with the Government’s encouragement of its activities, it is undergoing massive expansion and improvement. This forecasts a bright future for all those who choose to make a career of travel and tourism. Young people with drive and a capacity for hard work can rise to top positions very quickly in travel and tourism or even head their own agencies. A job in the industry gives good returns as well as perks including opportunity to see many locales at low prices.

    #swiss travel
    #

    Gr ezi and Welcome to Switzerland

    An Insider’s Guide!

    Switzerland may be small but we are blessed with diversity. Most think of mountain tops wrapped in eternal snow, but we’ve got a little of everything:

    • The Swiss Riviera with its palm lined avenues between Montreux and Geneva;
    • Italian “dolce vita” in the sunny Ticino with its Mediterranean climate;
    • Pristine alpine meadows full of wildflowers in the spring and bell-carrying four legged guests in the summer;
    • Delightful cities and medieval towns;
    • Numerous refreshing mineral baths and health resorts;
    • The Engadin with its special light that brings contrasts alive and attracts artists for centuries;
    • Remote valleys with picturesque villages where life hasn’t changed much over decades;
    • A unique and a diverse architectural heritage;
    • And, well, OK, our ski slopes are hard to beat!

    Being a land of contrast, the scenery is visually sensual just about everywhere. Age old traditions are kept alive, languages and habits differ from region to region, even village to village. And, there’s no country better organized for taking hikes. Hands down:-)

    MUMBAI TOURISM

    The entertainment capital and India s financial powerhouse, Mumbai is located in Maharashtra and is the biggest metropolis of the state. Home to 21 million people, Mumbai along with the neighboring Thane and Navi Mumbai, is one of the most heavily populated regions of India. The city is diverse, vibrant, multi-cultural and has the most expensive home and one of the largest slums in the world.\

    The island city, Mumbai was originally a conglomeration of seven islands on the Konkan coastline which over a span of time were joined to form the city as it is today. The fast pace of the city is a huge contrast to the rest of the country.

    From museums and galleries to beaches, zoos, parks and gardens and from markets and malls to religious structures, the city has something for everyone. The colonial buildings in south Mumbai are a sight for anyone visiting the city. Walk around the streets between Churchgate and Colaba to best experience the beauty of these buildings. Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus (Victoria Terminus), Flora Fountain, Gateway of India . Municipal Corporation and Police Headquarters, High Court, Asiatic Society and the Taj Mahal Hotel among many others make the south Mumbai district one of the quaintest areas of the city.

    Marine drive . a three km long promenade is very popular among walkers. Also known as the Queen s necklace, when lit up at night, the lights along the stretch of the promenade resemble a string of pearls culminating at Chowpatty. Just off Marine Drive, is Mani Bhavan that served as Mahatma Gandhi s residence in Mumbai during the freedom struggle and is one of the most significant memorials associated to him. The first floor of the building screens films on Gandhi and plays recordings of his speeches. Another great attraction is Haji Ali is located on a small islet in the Arabian sea. Built in 1431 the dargah sees about 30,000 visitors across all religions every week.

    With hundreds of movie theaters, theme parks, clubs, pubs, art galleries and shopping spots, there is always something to do in Mumbai. If you love to shop, the streets of Mumbai that offer almost everything you could possibly need, can keep you busy from sun-up to sun-down. From theater to cinema, the city also has the potential to bring out the drama fan in you even providing you with the opportunity to visit the Film City located in Goregaon to get a first hand experience of Bollywood shoots.

    Yet, with all the things you can do around Mumbai, a trip to this city is incomplete without a ride in the local trains. While the kaali-peeli (black and yellow) taxis may seem a little more alluring, the local trains connect the south of Mumbai to its northern extremes via three different lines: western, central and harbor.

    BEST PLACES TO STAY IN MUMBAI

    Mumbai offers a wide range of hotels to tourists. One can find budget and star hotels to suit every budget. All the hotels offer excellent service, comfort and cleanliness. Here is a list of hotels and Bed Breakfasts in Mumbai where you can probably stay depending on your preferences.

    BEST PLACES TO EAT IN MUMBAI

    The food of Mumbai aptly represents the city s multi-cultural nature. From fancy restaurants to khau gallis (street food alleys), the city has it all. The Irani restaurants that serve the most amazing bun-maska chai and several other delicious meals, the Udupi restaurants in Matunga that serve delicious south Indian delights and the thela walas (cart vendors) on Chowpatty that take you through starters (chaat ), a main course (pav bhaji ) and dessert (malai gola, kulfi. ice cream) will all make eating out in Mumbai the most enjoyable part of your trip.

    Serving some of the best Mughlai food you can have is a gem of a restaurant called Bademiya. Located right in between the Taj Mahal Hotel and Leopold Cafe in Colaba, Bade s (as the place is locally called) is best known for its chicken tikka rolls, baida roti and kheema. The food doesn t seem to get over and the crowds show no sign of leaving.

    If you aren t too fond of turf and prefer surf, Mumbai s greatest solution is Mahesh Lunch Home. With branches all over the city, the food is exquisite and the ambiance divine. Famous for its Mangalorean style preparations of seafood, its ladyfish, pomfret, lobster and crab (with butter garlic pepper sauce) are a must-have. Don t forget, if you see a dish named Bombay Duck, it isn t really a duck found in Bombay, it is the humble bombil fish, dried in the sun and deep fried in a delicious batter.

    Yet another delight is the juice at Haji Ali Juice Center in Mahalakshmi. The coolness of its surroundings and the mouth watering juices and faloodas make it a favorite in the staggering heat of the city in the peak of its summer.

    And if you re ever in the mood for some authentic Goan food, head down to Colaba to find hidden between lanes of fancy, a tiny restaurant called Martin s that will serve you the Goan staple, fish curry rice, prawn curry rice or an all day breakfast that does include pork sausages.

    From Bheja masala (brain masala) to falooda and from kebabs to puran poli. the city will surely not disappoint you in terms of its food. Try the pav bhaji at Sardar s in Tardeo, the mysore masala dosa at Dosa Center near Sophia college, the kheema and seekh parathas at Sarvi in Byculla or the Bombay sandwich at Dheeraj s stall opposite Mithibai college in Vile Parle (W) and you are sure to go home without a craving left dissatisfied.

    BEST TIME TO VISIT MUMBAI

    The average minimum and maximum temperature of Mumbai is as given below. The best time to visit Mumbai is also specified.

Available travel and tourism jobs found on Hcareers frequently include positions for travel agents, travel sales staff and travel consultants as well as tour directors and tour guides.

    If you are searching for jobs in the travel industry, you should find available positions quite plentiful. According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, direct tourism-related employment is increasing despite a sluggish economy. In fact, recent data indicates that travel and tourism job growth is outpacing the overall U.S. employment rate. Tourism spending at the end of 2011 reached more than $1.2 trillion. As you can expect, the more American spend on tourism, the more jobs become available in the travel and tourism industry.

    The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) classifies most travel jobs within the leisure and hospitality category. Recent data from the BLS shows that leisure and hospitality jobs, including positions for travel management, travel marketing, and travel directors, employed nearly 13.5 million professionals as of January 2012. The BLS predicts travel industry employment will remain steady through 2018.

    Training for travel jobs depends on the position. Some entry-level travel employment may require a high school degree and on-the-job training. College graduates, or graduates from vocational schools with certificates in a travel-related program may fill other positions. Many vocational schools offer programs for students interested in becoming travel agents or specializing in travel sales. Courses may also be found online and in community colleges.

    Many travel jobs offer competitive salaries, though compensation will vary based on position, employer and location. According to one salary-reporting source, travel counselors at one large travel company were earning $36,000 and up per year. Travel consultants at another travel company earn an annual salary or $30,000 while travel coordinators earn $28,000 at a similar organization. Travel manager positions are reported at $50,000 annual salary and upwards. Destination management positions have been listed as earning $60,000 per year. Travel jobs frequently offer travel-related discounts and perks as well, making these positions highly attractive to individuals who enjoy travel opportunities on their own time.

    The travel industry requires many different types of employees. Organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail are certainly required within many positions as well as the ability to finesse travel-related computer programs. Travel agents and other customer facing positions must have superb communication and people skills.

    Whatever your personality or professional goals, you re likely to find suitable tourism and travel job opportunities on the Hcareers job board.

    Exchange of Electronic Travel Resources  Assets xEtra

    Unique identifiers are critical in the travel industry and facilitate the flow of information that supports the demand-supply equation of the travel sector through the entire life-cycle of transactions and stays. Reservations, commission processing, reconciliation are all functions in this industry that require such unique identifiers.

    Currently there is no world wide identification standard that can uniquely identify and provide information about entities within the hospitality industry. There are however several proprietary means that attempt to do this. Until recently IATA (International Air Transport Association) had been the most accepted organization that provided within reason (in terms of content, price, updates, etc) a travel agency database. There are no companies or agencies that provide this service for hotels, central reservation systems, cruises companies, commission payment systems, tour operators, etc.

    We wish to propose a world wide standardization project to develop and deploy a unique identification solution for the hospitality industry. This solution would include the design of an alpha numerical sequence (similar to that as currently provided by some organizations) as well as a system that supports allocating and maintain such identifiers to the industry community.

    Gr ezi and Welcome to Switzerland

    An Insider’s Guide!

    Switzerland may be small but we are blessed with diversity. Most think of mountain tops wrapped in eternal snow, but we’ve got a little of everything:

    • The Swiss Riviera with its palm lined avenues between Montreux and Geneva;
    • Italian “dolce vita” in the sunny Ticino with its Mediterranean climate;
    • Pristine alpine meadows full of wildflowers in the spring and bell-carrying four legged guests in the summer;
    • Delightful cities and medieval towns;
    • Numerous refreshing mineral baths and health resorts;
    • The Engadin with its special light that brings contrasts alive and attracts artists for centuries;
    • Remote valleys with picturesque villages where life hasn’t changed much over decades;
    • A unique and a diverse architectural heritage;
