When you purchase an airline ticket, always heed the warning: “Read the fine print.” You probably already know that airlines make it difficult to transfer plane tickets, and depending on the airline, you may have very little luck changing or transferring your ticket to a different person; changing the date of the reservation; or changing other details of the reservation. Still, you can try.

Step 1

Look at your ticket. Look for the words “non-transferable” or “restricted” on your ticket, as these words tell you if you can transfer your ticket to someone else or change your own ticket to a different time. If you paid full price for a first-class or business-class ticket, chances are better that the ticket will not be “non-transferable.”

Step 2

Visit your airline’s website. Look for the “Reservations” or “Tickets” section to find information about their cancellation and transfer policy. In some cases, you may be able to transfer the ticket to another person or pay a fee to cancel the ticket and have it reissued in someone else’s name. Arm yourself with some knowledge about the airline’s policies to give you ideas on how to approach the next step.

Contact the individual airline that issued the ticket to inquire about transferring your ticket. Some airlines, such as American Airlines, have an online assistant who will allow you to change some tickets on the Internet, while other carriers require you to call the airline’s customer service department. Provide the airline with the information about your situation so they can determine your options. Since airline policies and individual tickets change so often, the only real way to know what will happen with your ticket is to directly contact the airline.

Cancel your reservation, if you were not able to transfer your ticket through your airline’s customer service department. In most cases, you’ll pay a fee of about $100 to $150 to cancel your ticket, and the airline will issue you a credit for the remaining balance on the ticket.

How to Transfer a Credit Card Balance

Here is what you need to know before and after a credit card balance transfer.

Credit card balance transfers can be an invaluable tool for managing credit card debt. This tactic allows cardholders to move their debt from a card with a high interest rate to one with a lower interest rate, or no interest charges at all.

While it’s not inherently complex to transfer a credit card balance, there are still several important things that cardholders need to be aware of before, during, and after.

Before You Transfer a Credit Card Balance

1. Make sure you keep up with all of your payments. This will allow you to maintain excellent credit and find a balance transfer offer with the best possible terms. The right card may be one you already have with a lower interest rate than the one you are using, or it may be a new card with a 0% APR promotional balance transfer offer. In fact, you may be able to get a promotional financing offer from one of your existing accounts, possibly in the form of a convenience check.

2. Understand all of the terms and conditions of the balance transfer. Know what the card’s credit limit is, its interest rate on balance transfers, and what the balance transfer fee will be. Balance transfer fees are typically 3 percent of the amount transferred, but not always. Chase Slate currently has the only 0 percent APR promotional balance transfer offer with no balance transfer fee, although others can have fees as high as 5 percent.

In the case of promotional financing offers, learn how long you have to complete a qualifying transfer, and the length of the promotional financing period. Typically, promotional balance transfer offers must be completed within 30 days to four months of the account opening, and can last from between six and 18 months. Keep in mind that even though the terms might not explicitly say so, banks will not allow balance transfers between their own accounts.

3. Make a plan. Come up with a sound financial plan for paying down your debt. otherwise your balance transfer is just another form of postponing your obligations.

Making the Transfer

Contact the bank that you are transferring the balance to and ask to perform a balance transfer. Be prepared to give the account information for the other card, and the total amount you want transferred.

After the Transfer

Continue to make at least the minimum payment required from the old credit card, and if you have paid your entire debt, make sure to get a statement from your bank. However, keep your old account open in order to maintain a low credit utilization ratio. which will help your credit score.

Most importantly, stick to the plan that you created to reduce your debt. Recognize that it probably will not be possible to take advantage of promotional financing offers over and over again.

By understanding some of the nuances of balance transfers, cardholders can use these offers to save as much money as possible on their credit card interest charges.

    The following firearms are being offered for sale due to the passing of a long time friend. I need to take time to determine the value of the firearms, but feel free to make an offer.

    PROCESS
    Below is a brief summary of the transfer process, just so you get an idea of what has to be done. Sometimes things are a bit different, so feel free to ask if you have a different situation.

    NOTE: Marijuana is illegal under Federal law. Per the BATF if you have a Medical Marijuana card or you use marijuana, you are not able to transfer a firearm. Please do not have any firearms shipped for transfer as the transfer can not be completed.

    Any handgun must be on the CA DOJ certified list, with the exception of some firearms such as certain single action revolvers and private party transfers. Semi-auto longguns must be legal for CA and not considered a so-called “assualt weapon”. See the CA DOJ web page for more specifics.

    Note: Due to issues with sales tax, I will not transfer any firearms from “penny auction” sites. The CA BOE says that sales tax is due based on the total the company receives for the auction (cost of all bids + the sale price + shipping), which is impossible to accurately calculate since the companies will not say how much money they received. This means that the only option is to use the highest cost for a bid.

    This assumes you know where you want to get the firearm from:

  • You need to arrange for payment of the firearm to the seller, this can be done concurrently with the sending of my FFL
  • Please email me the information on the Transfer Request Form .
  • I will mail (USPS, I don’t fax my FFL) my FFL, which will take a couple of days, or email my FFL (now acceptable).
  • NOTE: If you order a firearm from a place which already has my FFL without sending me an email, you may NOT be notified that the firearm arrived and storage/abandon firearm policies apply. So if you want to be notified, please send an email with your information and the order information
      PLEASE NOTE. I send my FFL as encrypted PDF, which the password is known information for the other FFL. This is done to prevent my FFL from being given out and provides a means for tracking where a person got my ffl from. Adobe provides a free PDF reader. Some Microsoft PDF readers are broken and are not able to open a password protected PDF. So please ensure that the FFL seller can open such a file.
  • Once my FFL arrives, the shipper will be able to ship the firearm, it is nice if the shipper provides a tracking number
  • When the firearm arrives, I will let you know so that you can arrange a time to start the paperwork
  • In order to start the paperwork, you will need to have the required documenation:
    • Handgun: HSC (Handgun Safety Certificate) or FSC for all firearms as of 01-Jan-2015
    • Handgun: Proof of residency (Vehicle registration, utility bill, etc.)
    • Government document Proof of residency if your ID does not have your current residence address (Vehicle registration, etc.)
    • CA ID or Driver’s License (the photo ID has to be valid, a paper copy is not acceptable)
    • Payment of fees required, cash or check
  • Waiting period of 10 days (240 hours from time DROS is submitted).
  • After waiting period or near to the end of the waiting period, you need to arrange a time to pickup the firearm and complete the paperwork.
    • Safety Demonstration must be performed for all firearms effective 01-Jan-2015
    • Certified Lock and a Copy of the receipt within 30 days or Affidavit Stating Ownership of an Acceptable Gun Safe or Lock Box. Federal law requires handguns be transferred with a lock.
    • Letter stating that the firearm is from a private party, that it is an occasional sale and the seller does not have a business, if applicable (so that sales tax is not collected on the price of the firearm). This ONLY applies to purchases from within CA or if the firearm is a C ?>

    What They Do:

    Accountants and auditors prepare, analyze, and verify financial reports and taxes and monitor information systems that furnish this information to managers in business, industry, and government.

    The major fields of accounting are public, management, and government accounting. Public accountants have their own businesses or work for public accounting firms. They perform a broad range of accounting, auditing, tax, and consulting activities for their clients, who may be corporations, governments, nonprofit organizations, or individuals. Management accountants (also called industrial, corporate, or private accountants) record and analyze the financial information of the companies for which they work. Other responsibilities include budgeting, performance evaluation, cost management, and asset management Government accountants and auditors maintain and examine the records of government agencies and audit private businesses and individuals whose activities are subject to government regulations or taxation.

    Within each field, accountants often concentrate on one aspect of accounting. For example, many public accountants concentrate on tax matters, such as preparing individual income tax returns and advising companies of the tax advantages and disadvantages of certain business decisions.

    Increasing numbers of accounting graduates are working in private corporations. Management accountants analyze and interpret the financial information corporate executives need to make sound business decisions. In Michigan, the 150-hour law can be met with LCC classes if the student has a 4-year degree already.

    Gun Transfer Laws: Buying Out of State

    The issue of gun transfer laws when buying a weapon from out-of-state is one we frequently get questions about. Unfortunately, there s a great deal of misconception about how this process works. So, in this post, we d like to set the record straight about what is and isn t allowed under federal law. However, remember: we re not lawyers. This article is intended for purposes of general information. If you have specific concerns, then we strongly suggest you direct them to an attorney well-versed in firearms statutes.

    From FFL to FFL, every time, no exceptions.

    Remember that phrase. It tells you what you need to do to stay out of trouble with the gun transfer laws when buying firearms across state lines. Federal firearms license (FFL) holders are the only persons who can legally handle gun sales across state lines. This means that the merchant you re buying from must have an FFL, and that seller must, we repeat, must, ship the weapon directly to an FFL holder in your state. It s then up to you to go to the FFL holder in your state and take possession of the weapon. Usually, the dealer will charge a small handling fee for his or her part in the transaction. Be sure to contact the FFL holder in your state to advise them you d like to have the firearm shipped to their location. By handling interstate transactions in this manner, you ll be in full compliance with federal laws.

    A Word about Personal Transactions

    Sometimes, a person in one state may wish to sell a firearm to an individual in another state, usually a friend or family member. In such a case, the safest procedure is for the seller to take the weapon to an FFL dealer in his or her state and have that dealer ship the gun to an FFL holder in the recipient s state.

    Unfortunately, people disregard both federal law and common sense all the time when exchanging weapons across state lines. Also, if the gun should discharge while en route, then your problems will quickly go from bad to worse. Unless a stint in federal prison is your idea of a good time, you should work through FFL holders in each state. Don t let a stupid mistake earn you the title of convicted felon.

    This is how these kinds of transactions work: Uncle Harry is coming in for a visit from another state and wants to stay with his favorite nephew, Johnny, for a while. Harry remembers that Johnny always admired his pearl-handled Colt revolver, and he decides to stow it in his suitcase and surprise Johnny with it. Just a little friendly exchange between relatives; nothing the matter with that, right?

    Wrong. Harry is well within his rights to transfer ownership of the weapon to his nephew, but simply giving it directly to Johnny makes him a gun trafficker in the eyes of the law. To make it legal, Harry should follow the FFL-to-FFL procedure previously discussed.

    Sound like a lot of hassle? Well, imagine this: Uncle Harry disregards gun transfer laws and gives the revolver directly to his nephew during the visit. Johnny later decides that he doesn t like his ex-wife s new boyfriend very much and uses Uncle Harry s old revolver to send the boyfriend to his eternal reward. The police, in the process of doing their job, discover how Johnny got possession of the weapon.

    Now Uncle Harry gets a knock on his door from fellows wearing badges and carrying a warrant for his arrest. Harry loses his job, his home, his family, and five to 10 years of his freedom. That s a lot more hassle than he would have dealt with had he worked through FFL dealers in both states.

    From FFL to FFL, every time, no exceptions.

    We repeat that because it s the way that every state-to-state firearms transaction should be conducted. Keep your reputation and your freedom intact by following it. Fail to do so, and you ll have no one to blame but yourself for the consequences. It s up to you.

    What is a balance transfer?

    A balance transfer involves moving the outstanding balance from your non-ANZ credit or store card account to an ANZ Low Rate Visa. You can choose to transfer the balance of your credit or store card balance to ANZ and pay just 1.99% p.a. for 12 months* on that balance.

    Transferring your balance to a card with a lower interest rate such as the ANZ Low Rate Visa can help you save on interest.

The ANZ Low Rate Visa requires a minimum monthly payment of 3% (minimum $10) of the outstanding balance by the due date each month.     How does a balance transfer work?

    What happens once my application for a balance transfer is approved?

    We will work with your other card provider to transfer the balance on that card to your new ANZ card – that process will be complete within 14 days of us receiving your application.

    In the meantime, while your balance transfer is being processed you’ll need to continue making any payments due on your old card (if you don’t you may be liable for overdue payment or interest fees from your existing card provider).
    We’ll send you a letter to let you know when your balance has been transferred.

    How will my payments be allocated if I have a balance transfer?

    When you make a repayment to your new ANZ card, it will be applied to the transferred balance first. Once your transferred balance has been paid off in full, repayments will be applied to any new purchases or cash advances on your card. (This means that until your transferred balance is paid off in full, you won’t get any interest-free days on new purchases).

    Will my other card be closed automatically?

    We can’t close your other card for you – you’ll need to contact the provider and ask them to close it. Until it’s closed you’ll continue to be liable for any repayments and fees due. Remember to check that all direct credits or debits have been redirected to your ANZ card account before you close your old one.

    How much can I transfer?

    You can balance transfer any amount greater than $100, and up to 95% of the approved credit limit on your ANZ credit card. That’s to ensure there’s a buffer to cover any charges such as fees or interest that could be charged subsequently.

    What does the balance transfer interest rate apply to?

    The special balance transfer interest rate only applies to the balance you’re transferring from a non-ANZ card to your ANZ card. For all other purchases or cash advances on your new card, the standard interest rate for that card applies.

    You can transfer your balance from any non-ANZ Visa and MasterCard, American Express, GE CreditLine, Q Card, Farmers Card and most other store cards.
