We at Travel Agents Finder.co.uk have found recently that after a bad experience some people feel let down and dont know where to turn so below is some information that may help you resolve your issues with a tour operator or travel agent.
First up is ABTA many people will have heard the name before. Before you book a holiday with a travel agent double check to see if they are ABTA registered (they usually display a logo on their website or just ask when you are booking). If they are ABTA registered then visit www.abta.com to find out how you can complain and possibly receive compensation. I would however not recommend phoning the 0901 number listed on their website as calls are charged at 51p per minute and that doesnt include your own network charges! ABTA also have a list of past ABTA members which have now ceased trading which is fairly handy.
ATOL protects you from loosing your money or being stranded abroad. Each of the members (travel agents, tour operators and airlines) takes part in a financial guarantee scheme managed by the Air Travel Trust (ATT) which provides funds should a member fail. You can find out more information by going to www.caa.co.uk
The AITO represents a lot of the UKs biggest independent tour operators. Tour Operators that want to become a member of AITO are all fully vetted and bonded for customer protection. They also have to be in compliance with European regulations and bound by AITO own code of business. Find out more information here: www.aito.co.uk
The SPAA represents all of Scotlands major travel agents which is pro-actively working to address the issues of the constantly changing travel industry. You can phone or Email them if you are looking for some advice on one of their members. More information can be found on www.spaa.org
Travel Agents Finder now allow our users to search for their local travel agent by using our postcode search which can be found at the top of our website in the red box. The results show your local travel agent along with a map of your area which you can use to find other recommended travel agents in your area.
